How the night ended… For my 21st birthday, we decided to book a table at the restaurant section as we have previously visited for my 19th birthday and had an amazing experience. When we arrived, we were informed that there was two large birthday celebrations taking place in the restaurant section and instead we were being seated in the pub section. When seated, the room was already starting to get abit rowdy due to it being a Saturday night. However, what started as an okay experience, suddenly took a quick turn. We were seated next to a loud speaker blasting music which meant we were unable to hear each other speak as we were drowned out by the pounding music. We asked for this to be turned down multiple times, however soon after this was turned back up. Secondly, there was a bunch of lads behind us who were vaping and swearing which is not the experience you want to pay for and don’t expect either at a restaurant. Due to the loud noises and blasting music, this caused two of our older guests to leave due to severe headache. Quickly after our mains were served and a decline in appetite, we requested for our food to be boxed up and instead we would eat at home. We received a 25% discount, however we’re still expected to fork out a large sum of money. There was NO communication from the managers advising us that we would be seated in the bar section due to the large parties and if we had known this we would have booked somewhere else and spent £180 else where that would have been WORTH the money we paid. Overall, our experience was awful and was left with a miserable 21st birthday celebrations. Thanks

Perfect food with pleasant staff including the chef who is more than happy to chat to you regarding the food, fantastic experience and the food was great, cooked to perfection. I would definitely come here again. There was 3 of us in the group and I thought everything was reasonably priced, not too expensive, the toilets are nice aswell very classy!

Visited Saturday night for our sons 14th birthday, 5 adults and 1 child. We had a selection of starters, drinks and mains. Service was warm, welcoming and the food was lovely. We thought about going out of town but instead stayed local and glad we did. Please pass on our thanks to the chefs, bar staff and waiting team.

Had the pepperoni pizza,tasted a little doughy,would have preferred it to be a little more crispy,and a little less peppers,would visit again though and try something different.

We visited bawtry's bar and brasserie yesterday afternoon and decided to have a bite to eat. We have eaten here before and it is never disappointing. 😋😋 The place altogether is very nice good selection of drinks, and the atmosphere is a good vibe. Staff very friendly. We will be back soon 😁. Fabulous food and service as usual 4 of us had pizza which were all hot and tasty and chef created a chicken salad which she was most impressed with . The young lady who was front of house was professional and attentive following up on food being served to check all was OK and getting us extra drink orders . We'll worth the money.

From the moment I rang and enquired about booking a meal for 15 people to the end of the meal itself the whole experience was impressive. 13 starters made and on the table ready in a timely manner. Waiting staff were very friendly and it was so nice to see the chief in full view making the food. Following the starters was 15 steaks which were all cooked to perfection. The steaks tasted lovely and each person in our group mentioned how they enjoyed the meal. Only 5 people had puddings but the people who did again said how impressed they were with the food. The waiting staff couldn’t be more helpful and the chef came over at the end to ensure we enjoyed the food. Highly recommended to any visiting Bawtry.

We visited Bawtry pizzeria and steakhouse on a Wednesday night.. there weren't many people eating so the atmosphere wasn't great, but I would put it down to being midweek The venue itself is really nice, great decor and very quirky. My partner and I ordered the Andys sharer, and this was very disappointing. It advertised garlic mushrooms and they come breaded. The breaded wasn't stated in the menu, and it was mostly processed deep-fried food. To follow that, we had the chicken pizza with blue cheese. It also had onions and jalapeños. The base was really soggy due to the amount of toppings. Although it did taste nice. Service wasn't great, we had to ask the waitress where our drinks were and she said "oh sorry" so clearly forgot us. I don't think we will visit again in a hurry, and if we did, I think we will try a steak. They have a very good selection of steaks on the menu.

Nice village pub. Good atmosphere and great selection of beers. Food was terrific and good value. Staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

Lovely little place staff friendly, food average so think it's expensive for average had pizza bland topping but base was fine , onion rings under cooked had soggy mushy batter . Wouldn't go back food equally as average at a cheap chains like green kings or hungry horse but cheaper.

Food was good, only thing I'd say is my steak was a bit to seared so it did tasted a bit burnt but rest was fab

Excellent eatery, great choice of dishes, restaurant has an amazing vibe. Food and service was exceptional.

Staff were great. Main meal was cooked to perfection. Only choices for desert were Chocolate cake or Chocolate brownie and that was it. Also apparently 'we don't serve coffee' when we asked when ordering desert.

Amazing service. All the staff were so friendly and made us feel welcome. We came in on a bank hol without a booking and were looked after straight away. The food was amazing. All 5 meals were 10/10

Mixed experience Nice place for a meal but music was so loud we had to shout across the table at each other even after asking for it to be turned down twice. I understand in the bar but not the dining area. Service was ok, half of the staff dead polite and attentive others rude or too busy flirting with the chef's to do their job Food was ok , some of our meals were amazing , other very average , the steak was tasteless. Overall you'd be happy paying £20 a head not £50

Very nice setting, excellent freshly cooked food and friendly and courteous staff.

Came here last night with my partner for our anniversary and the food was absolutely INCREDIBLE. We both had chicken to start and a steak for our main. Everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned really well. 100% worth the 2 hour drive from Birmingham! Next time we’ll make sure to bring enough room for dessert. Staff were amazing too, attentive, polite and just generally lovely!

We found this little gem after driving through Bawtry and seeing it at the end of the high street - it looked lovely so checked reviews and that was the decision made!!Staff were fantastic and the food was amazing...freshly prepared to perfection, we had loaded fries with bacon, spring onion, cheese and ranch dressing and pepperoni pizza - kids plates (chicken strips for both!) were clean as a whistle, nothing left over and believe me, this is unheard of!! Fantastic place, just had to give it a shout out - we’ll be back, even if we come to Bawtry just for this eatery !!! Oh and champagne by the glass.. winner already in my book!

Thank you for saving our evening. We had a bad experience at a nearby Indian restaurant on this evening and decided to head here for a last min pizza before heading home. We shared a pizza, chips and some houloumi and it was delicious. We weren't rushed and they were happy for our friends to join us as it was the end of the evening even though they only ordered drinks and no food. Thank you for your friendly and relaxed style that others could learn from. I've been here for lunch in the past and the lunch menu is good too. Thank you.

Before I start, I am reviewing Coleman's Steak House in Howden.

Visited Coleman's on Friday 19th April - all appeared to be the same on the outside of the building, until we went inside. The décor had completely changed and we were told that our booking was not listed. I had booked using the Coleman's booking system as always, however on entering we were told that Coleman's was no more. We were offered a table and told we may have to wait. Coleman's has now been taken over by the owners of Bawtry's bar - (the adjoining building), Coleman's as it were have apparently moved on to pastures new therefore not renewed their lease. Therefore, the décor, and more importantly the chefs were completely different. Our food was slow, luke warm and disappointing. Nothing like Coleman's used to be.One of the owners came to apologise for our wait and offered us a drink, he explained it was their very first night trading and that the steak oven had not arrived hence the steaks were taking longer as they had to be pan fried. However, myself and my husband did not order steaks ! After a 45 minute wait my chicken skewers arrived - 4 small cubed pieces on 2 long wooden sticks, with a couple of pepper slices on the ends. The sticks were long which emphasised more so the lack of meat on them. A handful of rocket on the side - that was it - no fries etc at all. More like a starter than a main. All in all although we appreciate it was their first night under new ownership, they were ill-prepared. No steak oven. In-experienced main chef and very young guys who appeared to be trying to help out. We have been visiting Coleman's for the last 4 years and have enjoyed tasty, good quality food, however, this was not the case on the 19th April. Unfortunately we will not be venturing back to Coleman's/Bawtry's - whatever it is going to be called - I understand Coleman's themselves have moved to local pastures new however I cannot confirm that for certain. May try and hunt them down !Sorry Bawtry's but if you wish to receive the bookings and enjoyment of Coleman's days something quickly will need to be done.

We visited Coleman’s the other evening for yet another fabulous dinner.However our evening was marred by news that they were closing down, as their landlords weren’t renewing their lease,a little unfair I feel,especially as their landlords are Bawtrys Bar,the adjoining building.Such a shame that this has happened as we so enjoyed going there.

We visited Coleman's Pizzeria & Steakhouse as a family of four. Our experience didn't start well we were advised that their online booking service (that we used) wasn't actually working so they had no record of us even booking in. We were then shown to some reserved tables that were set aside for this reason. The service was good, and the waitress was very helpful. We ordered two steaks. I had the T Bone which was delicious, and massive. It was well cooked and well seasoned. I had a blue cheese sauce which was creamy, and distinctively lacking in blue cheese. Even with this said it was tasty enough. The atmosphere was great we didnt feel out of place with our two children, and the staff were really accommodating with them. With a price point around average for what I would expect I paid just over £100 for four of us to eat, which isn't bad.

This is the third time we have tried to eat here on a Thursday. The first time we were told that they had run out of food, the second they had run out of gas and tonight the door was locked with a 'we are closed' sign hanging up.This is a real shame as I really like their Louisiana wings and Nachos Please get your act sorted out!

It was the first time here for most of us, my son has been several times with friends and recommended it, the food was fabulous, most of us had steaks of various descriptions.Easygoing pleasant atmosphere, lots of people enjoying a good time.Will we go again........definitely, looking forward to it already..........

Went in on recommendation. Service beyond shocking. Nothing on menu available. Waited an hour with 3 other tables (otherwise dead) no food but three chefs cane out to defend themselves!! Rubbish!

Cancelled my reservation made 2 weeks ago on the basis that they didn't have any steak. It was also my birthday meal... really disappointed.

We visited on recommendation and were disappointed with the experience. The food was not great quality and was cold when served to the table. For the prices they charge, they need to put better quality hot food out.

Came in over the weekend for some food as Coleman’s was recommended to me by my friend, wow, what can I say? It did not disappoint! Food fab, fab service from Melissa & Caitlyn. Thanks again guys, would highly recommend to anyone that likes a good bit of meat

Tried to enquire about booking a table for the same evening (3 1/2 hours notice). Tried to call. Couldn’t speak to anyone because it was an automated system. Tried booking online. It wouldn’t work for a table of 5, you had to make an enquiry form and they would reply. Just as well we found somewhere else because we are still waiting for a reply a day later. I really don’t know what it is about Bawtry but all the bars and restaurants seem really stuck up themselves. Now Colman’s as well. It’s a shame really as it was the one place we didn’t mind going to. I think we will just leave Colmans and Bawtry to all the desperate divorcees and middle aged posers and their overpriced, noisy bars and restaurants. Colmans are obviously doing so well they hardly need our £150. There are nicer places that don’t need to try as hard.

Having been to Coleman's a few times within the past few years, and always finding it close to being excellent, my boyfriend and I were left moderately dissatisfied, with both the food, and the service.

Me and my family went to this lovely gem for some stake and wow did this place deliver.... what can I say the stake was amazing the food in general was amazing we took our 6 month old baby and asked for some mash and gravy but they don’t do mash so they scoped a jacket potato for us and didn’t change us which was amazing of them so again thank u guys... the food was amazing but let’s not forget the service from the two young lasses sorry girls I

Pop into Colemans once or twice a month for a catchup with friends or an evening with my girlfriend. Its always top notch and the staff are fantastic! They even nipped next door to the Sainsburys for lactose-free cheese for my pal's cheeseburger! Quality.

As a much travelled eater, who also loves cooking and hospitality, I get an immediate sense of the quality (dedication) of eateries who take the job to a higher level.

Was recommended by a friend and wasn’t disappointed great steaks far better than miller and carter. Only Criticism would be it could do with better ventilation. Would certainly go back.

Dropped into this place as the reviews looked pretty good and was up for the evening. As as we stepped in the staff were AMAZING to say the least. They are genuinely lovely people who provided a super level of service all evening. Always attentive, didnt hawk...just perfect. Even when I told the staff (after I had placed my order) that I had a nut allergy, they were super. No fuss, no bother - they simply ran off....checked...and came back to me to advise.

We went for my birthday treat in December and it was amazing. We both had steak with all the trimmings and we couldn't fault it. The staff were very attentive. Can't wait for our next visit.

Visited on a Saturday night after a day at the races. There were nine of us eating. We had a drink in The bar first and then went through to the restaurant. The staff were attentive and polite, and the food was absolutely fantastic. We had a mixture of steaks and chicken dishes and there were no Complaints from anyone. The place itself is well located in the centre of bawtry and the restaurant is nicely laid out with good decor and a good atmosphere but we were not impressed with our food. We both ordered the ribs, the sides and drinks were fine but the ribs were so difficult to eat as they were impossible to cut apart. I had to give mine to my boyfriend to try and butcher apart as I was unable to. The table next to us looked like they were having the same problem. It was a shame as they tasted nice. I wouldn't return

My daughter and myself were passing through Bawtry and needed a light lunch and a cup of tea

Having had a few really good meals here, I must admit today was by far the worst. The restaurant was not busy however it took over an hour for the starters to arrive. We then had main meals, but they were not the best. Pizza-ok, spare ribs-ok but really fatty, steak-inedible. We ordered a rump steak, medium rare, it was cold and we could not cut the meat with a steak knife. We did complain and didn’t pay for the steak, but it spoiled a good day out.

Thourt it was cold out side till I had a steak from here was the worst steak I have ever had and it have a 1 star hygiene

Visited with family last Saturday and all enjoyed our meals immensely. However, the noise and smokey atmosphere spoilt our visit overall. We couldn't hear each other speak because of the noise but of course this is down to the success of this restaurant so not much can be done about that. However, the smoke coming from the open kitchen was horrendous at times. Fortunately we were seated at the far end of the room away from the kitchen so I dread to think what it was like nearer. No doubt about, it the food is good and the young staff are lovely but I think they need to invest in stronger kitchen fans. We have been several times and never noticed this before and we will be back, but on a quieter night. Definitely not on a Saturday.

Visited for lunch with a friend. I ordered a pizza which was a great size with loads of toppings on. It was delicious! The waitress serving us was lovely too. It was my first visit to Coleman’a and the only criticism I would say is the setting is a bit underwhelming and lacking in character. Just a big square room with tables in it, felt a bit cold and a bit like a cafe, not like a steakhouse. Other than that, I would definitely return.

I completely agree with other reviewers about the intolerable noise, it did spoil our evening. The service was ok and the food was very good, we all had a different dish and all agreed that the food was delicious.

Went with family, all the staff are amazing very friendly and gave advice how to have different steaks cooked etc, great setting and atmosphere. We had nachos and piri piri skews to start which was AMAZING. Then for mains we had 10z ribeye medium rare each and was cooked to perfection hands down the best steak I ever had. Great night out great food great price!!!!

The manager response to the review my Dad gave last week is absolutely disgusting! Do you even care? Like my Dad said in his review, the place was so loud I couldn’t even hear myself think! And yes the hen party was VERY loud! This is not a place to visit if you want a nice evening out with good food. I find it very disrespectful that the manager response said his review wasn’t genuine! Unbelievable!! The food quality was just awful! Especially the dessert! I think the Cheesecake came straight out of the freezer in Iceland! And the steak well don’t even get me started! Basically it was a complete waste of money and our time! Stay away if you’ve got any class!

Visited here to celebrate our daughter’s engagement. Big mistake! Backing on to a bustling, rowdy, boisterous, noisy, gang strewn, bouncer laden fun pub, a party of seven was brusquely accommodated by the shoving of two tables together and lumping one person at the end with barely room to move. Lighting was awful, reminiscent of a doctors surgery and background music was so loud that you couldn’t hear yourself think, let alone hold a conversation - all made worse by a screaming, drunken hen party on the next table. Service was poor. Food took forever to arrive and, when it did, the quality was absolutely awful. Fillet steak was of the quality expected in 2 star Spanish hotels and burgers were cremated and bitter in taste. Even side orders, chips, salad, coleslaw, etc, was of very poor quality and with extremely meagre helpings to boot. Sweets weren’t much better. The restaurant had run out of custard by half nine with only ice cream as an alternative. Can you believe that? Not cheap either, five star prices for two star cuisine - at least Dick Turpin wore a Mask! Won’t be returning and would strongly advise anyone against booking here, especially for special occasions. Rubbish! Complete waste of money and wouldn’t recommend to anyone!

I was really looking forward to my visit here as I had been told that it was an excellent place to eat and had their prices been reflected in the food quality, service and décor, it very probably would have been. However, this was not the case. There were eight of us and a baby went, only to find that they had shoved two tables together which were not even the same width, so some of us were sat much further out than the others. and the chairs more resembled something I would expect in a bar. The food, I would describe at best, as average Both of us who had the chicken in garlic found that the chicken was tough and stringy and the chips, proudly described as "homemade" were overcooked and greasy. The cheesecake dessert was a gelatine topped concoction, not at all the nice light one I had expected. Overall I was very disappointed and comparing it with the other places I dined at while in England, it was nowhere near the same standard yet charged in a similar price bracket. Not an experience to be repeated.

We visited Coleman’s today again as a family group of 17. Very well looked after, food very good service by Lydia, Melissa and Kaitlyn was great they were all lovely and attentive! We will be back again:)

Absolutely amazing food and the best staff. Caitlin really looked after us... even went to Sainsbury’s to get some polos for us as I asked for a mint! What a sweetheart.

Went out for a family meal , I'm not sure what's happened but the food really wasn't good , The ribs are not great anymore , I couldnt eat them , they must have been 95% fat! I had to just eat my chips, service is good as always but unless food improves we will not return any time soon.

We've eaten here on many occasions,and always find the food and service very consistent. Not a "page after page" menu,its just kept simple. The chicken wing starter is excellent,which comes with a choice of sauces. For mains, take your pick,its all good.

First time visit, with the family.I had a 10 oz sirloin, my wife a perri perri burger and the little one a margherita pizza: every thing whose well presented and tested nice.Staff member are very polite not a problem even when my boy droop his glass of coke on the floor,they promptly replace it. We will definitely coming back for More!!

Friday was probably not the best evening to visit for a romantic dinner out. Having visited Colman’ several times in the past not much has changed. On the positive side the steaks are good. The waiting staff are smart, polite and generally good. We sat at a table for 2 adjacent to the largest table in the restaurant. Very soon after ordering drinks a party of 9 rowdy men began to filter in and sit down. Immediately the atmosphere changed and the volume went up. Lots of loud swearing and abuse aimed at the staff. Culminating in drink being thrown around and my wife getting splashed. I know that the behaviour of customers is not the fault of the staff but the management should have nipped this in the bud. So apart from this a couple of improvements could be made:-

We were really looking forward to the meal after hearing lots of good experiences. We eventually were seated and menus took some time to arrive and ordered a variety of steaks and chicken.

My husband and I ate here a couple of saturdays ago and were pleasantly surprised. It is the noisiest restaurant I think we’ve ever been in and we had to shout to each other. But the food was delicious! I had a ribeye with all the extras and a pink peppercorn and brandy sauce and my husband had a very large rump. Both were cooked to perfection and the chips were gorgeous. We struggled to finish and we both have big appetites. The house red was good too. We would recommend it, mainly to younger people I think but we’ll definitely be back, maybe as a lunchtime meal not a night out. Yummy though with friendly staff.

I’ve been here many times now and not once has it disappointed me or my partner. We’ve tried both steak and pizza and they’re both utterly delicious, I cannot fault anything at all. The nachos are amazing and I won’t ever be able to not order them when I come here. The staff have always been warm and welcoming and extremely helpful. I highly recommend it.

Ate at Coleman's last night and had a great meal. We both enjoyed the food and thought the prices were very reasonable. However, there were just a few finishing touches that spoilt the meal slightly such as my gin being served in a plastic glass. My boyfriend's red wine was also served in a small, white wine glass and nearly sloshed over the sides when he picked it up. I would expect these tiny details to be right as it would really pull the ambience up a notch as the food and service were both very good.

We were a large party of 9 and the staff were not phased at all. Service was quick and polite, food tasty and hot, drinks plentiful. What more could you ask for

20oz ribeye medium rare steak and hand cut chips and onion rings with blue cheese sauce. Good service. Steak was seared on outside but cooked perfectly (sous vide??) on the inside. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
