Sadly very unhelpful rude service. This place is sadly struggling with lack of staff. Those that are there are struggling to keep up with the orders. I waited patiently to be served only to be told he was heading to the kitchen to cook and I’d have to wait a further 20 mins before he’d even take my order. I get that he was short staffed and feel very sorry for this , but there is a way to say things and deal with customers. Especially after having stood there for so long and especially locals (as I am). Sadly won’t bother going again. Needs some proper management and a bit of customer service training. Food usually good once you get served though.

Really lovely breakfast, I had eggs royal and my husband had the full English. Just a couple of things that would have made it much better especially the full English is if there were mushrooms, especially for the price compared to other places we ate, the toilet could have done with a good clean too. The service was excellent though and it is a lovely little place.

I'm glad we tried this place for Saturday breakfast. It wasn't busy. The wait staff was quite unfriendly and stressed, though did smile on our way out. The coffee machine was broken, which added to the poor service for anyone wanting coffee. The English and Scottish breakfasts were fine. It appears that most everything is warmed in the microwave or toaster oven, so the eggs were a bit rubbery. The salmon was fresh and mild. Prices were reasonable. Would probably visit again as quite convenient to hotels.

I had the misfortune of going to the Bathurst Deli with my family for Sunday Brunch. With the cafe full inside we found seats outside and waited for them menus to arrive. Then we waited some more. I went in to ask for a menu and they gave me just that, a single menu...between 6 of us. The two waiting staff seemed hassled from the start and did not appear to be getting any assistance from the man who I assumed to be the owner/manager, aside from him telling them to hurry up and serve people. We placed our order (full english, muesli, beans on toast (with cheese..the cheese is important), poached eggs and various drinks. The food arrived...I wish it hadn't. Just because you present food on a rectangular plate does not mean it is any way sophisticated or of a better quality because it was far from either.Poached eggs are meant to be runny, soft and golden, ours were bullet hard and pale. The beans on toast came without cheese apparently because the deli does not possess a grater! Essentially this was nothing more than a greasy spoon in a posh(ish) part of town.To be fair to the two waiting staff they were doing their best and we even managed to get a smile out of them which seemed like an achievement. The worst came at the end. Said manager/owner came out and sat next to me and lit a fag. As the smoke billowed across me toward the rest of the party I politely asked if he could move it. His reply...'It's a free world man, we can do what we like...'To say I was shocked was an understatement and, had my family not been there, the response would have been slightly less restrained than it was. This summed up the Bathurt Deli and I would not recommend anyone going there to receive mediocre (at best) food and someone who so clearly has no idea who and what customers actually represent. Also, the outside space smelt quite strongly of urine....perhaps other people had bought into the managers free world ethos and used it as a late night WC, or maybe they were showing what they really thought of the place.Terrible.

Me and my friend were going to Hyde Park Stables just around corner, but we were nearly an hour early. We decided to have a quick cup of coffee before our ride. There is a sign that tells to sit down for service - apparently they were busy as we waited a bit before one of the waitresses came to us. Service wasn't friendly in particular, and they didn't bother to tell anyone that their only toilet was our of order. There was a piece of paper on bathroom door, but it had fallen off so we did use the bathroom anyway. It was ok, toilet ring was loose but otherwise it was usable, which was exellent as we indeed had large coffees and drank a lot of water also.We paid on our way out, which seemed a bit odd as our waitress was serving other customers and they didn't know what we'd ordered at the counter. If you are looking for a place to rest your feet this'll do. Food at the counter looked good.

Tea brought immediately, followed by juice about 5 minutes later, and breakfast not for about 20 minutes, so tea clod by then.Full English consisted of bacon, sausage, baked beans and scrambled eggs. This was, to be fair, written on the menu under FULL ENGLISH, but in VERY small print, so we hadn't bothered to read it.Normally Full English includes mushrooms and tomatoes and would be fried egg as standard. The fruit salad was an absolute delight as were the croissants. The only mystery about this place is the prices: they are about five years out of date despite being situated in one of the most expensive streets in the country. If you are in the Lancaster Gate area or staying at the Lancaster you must not miss this excellent bistro for breakfast - open from 07h00 until late (lunch and supper may be good there too!). This is a tiny bistro with mis-matched furniture and is absolutely delightful. The food is superb and reasonably priced. Service is quick and efficient - the two ladies that were working behind the counter serving and cooking when we went there several times for breakfast, are so hard working that I admired their ability to keep a smile on their faces in this very busy bistro. Everything is cooked upfront in microwaves - so if you like your eggs fried in a pan you may be disappointed, but these girls are a whizz with anything they cook. The ham and cheese is of such high quality, and the sausages (often a stumbling block) are superb. The manager sometimes helps out when busy but mainly taking the money, not serving - he seems to treat his staff well and I hope he appreciates how hard they work and they are paid accordingly. We tipped very generously because of this impeccable service. If you love fresh orange juice you will find that they have a fancy machine that you put in whole oranges and it produces the juice - amazing!Next time we will also try it in the evening as they have a wonderful wine collection.Do not miss this place!

I've been here quite often back when it just opened, and I loved the attention to the quality of food, the selection of wine, the ambience. However, things seem to have come downhill in the few years since then. On the day when we visited, the owner was helped by 2 girls, who had certain difficulties speaking English. It looked like they were inexperienced (and cheap) staff, which is not a good sign for a place that is supposed to be about service and passion for food.I ordered two sandwiches with salmon and greens. The greens never arrived. I asked for cappuccino from the owner inside, he sent me to the street to order from the staff there, however the staff was busy cleaning tables. All in all, the crew of 3 seemed overwhelmed by having a few customers at the same time. And inside, you can see the signs of wear and tear already. The juice machine is empty, dirty, plastered with scotch tape. The menus on the tables are weathered. The chairs shaky. Bah! Finally, 2 sandwiches, a quiche and a coffee cost us 18 pounds. Oi.Where before I brought my custom here as appreciation of the effort of the owner to offer something special (food-wise, attention-wise), now I have no desire to receive fast-food service that doesn't care about anything except for the bill. The quality of salmon was such that we could not even finish the sandwiches, and the coffee was worse than at the airport. Sorry, guys, but I'm striking you off my address book for now.

We stayed in a nearby hotel and were looking for somewhere for a quick breakfast. Eating in Hyde Park (Serpentine Cafe) appealed for venue, but not for price. Then we found the listing for the Bathurst Deli. And it lived up to the reviews. It's on a side street, but within a few minutes walk of Lancaster Gate underground. It was fairly quiet when we visited (just before 9am). After a friendly greeting we were invited to take a seat. A short while later our order was taken and the food arrived very quickly. It was a full English (choice of eggs) and tasted great - especially the bacon. There was also the option of decaf coffee (more common these days, but not always available in smaller places). Definitely worth another visit!

Staying nearby and wandered for a place to have breakfast. We had a cooked breakfast +mocha to drink; also croque monsieur +hot chocolate. Top marks all round. Will be back another time. Fantastic range of cakes+cheese on the small deli.

We stayed at a hotel close by without breakfast and decided to try Bathurst. It looks like a ordinary deli from the outside, but when you peek inside you see a lot of fresh fruits, baked goods and lots of wine! We enjoyed a Full English breakfast and a sharing platter of tapas. The Full English contained of a delicious sausage, tasty bacon and rather ok scrambled eggs and beans. The Tapas plate was filled with cheese, ham and etc. The orange juice was fresh and the coffee was good! Cozy little place with lots of charm!

Coffee was blah, food was average. I can't really say much about this place other than it was there and we got food there once and then avoided it the rest of the trip.

Heard bad things about the breakfast room at my hotel so decided to cross the street each morning to the Bathurst Deli. So glad I discovered this little place! It's a constant flow of locals coming in for coffee to-go so entertained by people-watching while enjoying a good breakfast. At first was disappointed they are not able to offer fried eggs with the Full English. I've never really like scrambled eggs but theirs was really tasty. Missed it so much upon returning home that I started cooking scrambled. Service is efficient, don't expect them to do small talk. And avoid sitting on the fancy loveseat in the back. It seemed to be the regular spot for one of the locals.

Vi bodde på et hotell like ved uten frokost og denne koselige restauranten/bakeriet lå like ved. Spist frokost her flere ganger og maten og ikke minst servicen var upåklagelig. Her har de en av byens beste med kaffe. Anbefales! !!

If you want something out of the main drag you could do well to sample this small café.The food is prepared well and looks fresh. And the prices are very reasonable compared to what is charged on the main roads in Paddington and elsewhere for that matter.Downside: no ground black pepper for eggs. The salt grinders that live over the preparation area have taken up so much moisture they don't work either.Hey, but in England it's difficult to find anything that works perfectly. Empire in decline??

This little deli is located across the street from the Lancaster Hotel. I have stopped here before (not reviewed) and stopped in again this visit. I will come again. I was looking for a quite corner, on a couch, pulling a bottle of wine off the shelf, given a glass to drink the wine from, reading a book, while grazing on food. That is what I received. Food and beverages are available for carry out (take away) or to eat in. For what I was looking for and what I received, this was excellent. The food was tasty though not outstanding. The wine bottle was priced the equivalent for what I paid for one glass at the hotel and you can take it back to the hotel (or home). If you are looking for five-star food, beverages, and service, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a deli with good food and beverages for take away, or to have in a quite corner on a couch, this is your place. Service, I will take the service I received here any day, for the price I paid.

Anbefales.

I've walked past the Bathurst Deli many times and decided to try it this week. Its quite a pleasant little spot with an eclectic collection of tables and chairs. We had a light lunch. My quiche was tasty but over heated, with an accompanying salad of tomatoes and tomatoes - both sun dried and regular, too much! My companion had something that resembled a rolled pizza, which was chewy and not so tasteful. Poor coffee. I'm afraid the staff seem completely disinterested. The lack of thought continues through to the glossy menus, with the name of the deli misspelt on the front, Bathrust Deli !!!

Nipped in fir a quick bite at breakfast time. I asked about the bacon, if it was smoked or plain! Simple question. The waitress just stared and stood......perplexed, waved her arms and walked away. I asked again....no answer. I suggested she ask the chef....no. Ok. Let's have poached eggs on toast.....she understood this. However, I received cremated eggs and warm bread. Poached eggs are packed in water, not cremated in a microwave...... The place looks nice but is, by my one experience......TOTAL KRAP.

Sitting in the cafe is a very noisy experience! Clattering of washing up, coffee machine and other related noises. Waitress made several mistakes with our simple breakfast order. A shame because the environment is great and the food was tasty. Didn't take too long to get served either. The clattering of plates was just too much.

I went to this place with few aspirations other than to avoid the smell of horse manure in the neighbouring mews, and so was pleasantly surprised. Has a superb and large collection of wines that are arrayed inside. Picnic sort of arrangement insider. Outside was cheerfully disarrayed and the menu was nice although not cheap (£8 for a sandwich and Sprite)...but there again we are in central London. Service was not exactly fast and not quite exuberant, but this is a really lovely, quiet place to sit and absorb passers by and one could almost forget the imminent presence of major roads and hotels and the like.

We decided to have a spontaneous picnic with friends while staying at a London hotel and discovered this deli quite by chance. Small but fab wine selection, nothing was too much trouble - fresh baguettes with scrummy fillings, each individually wrapped, a selection of cheeses sliced in separate containers, ditto olives and assorted cold meats, small quiches also available but we declined, and lots of bottles of ice cold water - a small area to eat and many people were having a late delicious looking breakfast as we waited for the bill which was very reasonable. 10 out of 10 for superb service, helpfulness and above all, outstanding food. Thank you for making our picnic lunch at Lords such a success.

The menu in the window clearly invites people to be seated and wait to be served. We gave up our place in the queue to sit at a table.Surly girlie says they are only doing takeaway. Does not offer to help us to re queue etc. When we did join the queue and order she again tersely rebuffed our ordering. Then tells us to SIT down!!Order; sit to wait and THEN surly girlie takes another woman's order.Bizarre

Had a very simple salami and cheese sandwich here, which really kept me full for the rest of the evening despite that it was only four pm. Don't be deceived by some of the smaller portions, they do fill you up. A lovely little find that we will definitely come back to while we are in London.

While staying at the Lancaster London hotel, we nipped across the road to the Deli for breakfast. And we are glad we did. A delicious big breakfast (we would not be able to have lunch - not the Virgin Trains variety anyway) of fruit (freshly cut), yoghurt (delicious - and I know yoghurt, having been brought up in Baghdad), croissants, baguette, jam and butter. And delicious hot chocolate.Excellent friendly service, and interesting quirky surroundings. A lovely villagey feel about it and that end of Bathurst street. People sitting outside as well as in. At £18 for all the above, good value too.Recommended!
