Not only was the food below average there whole attitude towards a customer with special needs was an absolute disgrace myself and my family and friends will never out of principle use them again it was disgusting to experience and they should be ashamed of them shelves no wonder it is not as busy as it was and as I said the food was well below average soggy and only luke warm a total waste of money and a upsetting experience

Barry’s is a wonderful find, some of the best Fish and Chips in Essex/Suffolk. It’s great to have a chat Angie and Barry whilst you wait for your meal. Make sure you get there early to avoid disappointment as this is a very poplar teat.

We got fish & chips off here before the pandemic, a few times and were always disappointed so stopped going however, thought now we were going back to weekly takeaways we'd give them another chance. What a mistake. A couple of weeks ago we went about 3.30pm on the way home from school with the kids so they weren't busy. We were ordering for 5 people, we ordered both sizes of fish and different sizes of chips, some sausages & some chicken. We like to order large fish as you then get a more chunky flesh usually, but when we got home we hadn't got any large fish at all, instead 2 very thin small pieces which contained slimy skin and not much else. If they'd have said they had no large we wouldn't have ordered it! Also, chip portion, small and large were hardly any different and both were extremely stingy portions, none of us were full up, even the children. To be fair, the chips were really nice, all 10 of them. The fish however was disgusting. It took us 4 mins to drive home and I am not exaggerating to say they were stone cold. The batter was soggy (why we stopped going before) and majority of it was stuck fast to the paper (maybe time to start using boxes to avoid this). My daughter had a sausage which was great and nice crispy batter on that so why not on the fish? Such a shame as hoping to become a regular. I hate to say it but, honestly, one of the worse fish meals I've ever had. I'm really jealous of all the other great reviews on here, have we just been unlucky every time?

Haven’t been to get fish and chips at Barry’s for years, as we didn’t know where and when they stopped now, but after lots of long waits and several wrong orders, we got just a little fed up, with Riverside chip shop!!!! We weren’t disappointed, the fish was excellent, nice and white and cooked to perfection. The chips were great. We ordered by phone , so were guaranteed that we got exactly the fish and size we wanted. Excellent service and will definitely use again and again.

Had cod and chips good sized portion the fish was cooked perfectly and beautiful batter. Reasonable priced.

We were lucky enough to discover this great little fish and chip bar when they were providing fish and chip suppers at a private party some months ago. It is run by a great couple who are friendly and certainly know what makes a good fish and chip meal. The fish is top notch fresh and the chips are really great, lovely spuds are sourced and then cooked to perfection. The unit is spotlessly clean and all the alternative choices of food are good too and we heard that from the other party goers on the party evening. Why bother with all the grief and hassle of a buffet with sausage rolls and vol-u-vents when you could have this instead? Everyone loves fish and chips! We never forgot how good they tasted and took a leaflet on the night so were able to locate them at one of their regular locations. So off to Manningtree Co-op car park corner on Friday evenings and we sat in our car quite happily eating our pre-ordered delicious meals. So good, we already now consider ourselves regulars. I don't think we would now ever bother with any other provider as these are the best by a mile. Our advice is order in advance by phone because these are the best ever fish and chips and it's not surprising they sell out quickly.

We have used Barry's on a number of occasions, the food is always beautifully cooked, to greasy. We phone up in advance and place an order, and then the van comes to our lane, in fact it will even stop at the top of our driveway, what more could you want? Excellent idea for a area dotted with smaller villages, a fish and chip shop that comes to you!

I have been using Barry's fish and chips for years and this time was as good as usual. I have never had any complaints, but some times I can't eat it all-very generous portions!

I have used Barry's fish and chips for over 30 years and never ever had a bad experience alway roasting hot and grease free .excellent quick service and they are the friendliest people you could ever meet ten out ten from ang and Glenn well dun you 2

Just finished the best portion of chips. Nice and fluffy, no grease. Lovely burger too served by 2 lovely people.

The fish and chips are hot and freshly made, the skate was to die for the other day. Yummy The staff are very friendly even when they are really busy.

I waited for ages for the van to put in a scheduled appearance. When it did (45 minutes late) it turned out that most of the food was reserved for its regulars. Unimpressive. Better going to a real chippy.

We have used Barry's a few times. Not as much as I would like, but I'm on a diet!The fish is always beautifully cooked. A light, crisp batter. I like Rock, Barry says if I call them first, he willSave me some! How is that for service!

Barrys Fish And Chips serves various villages and areas around the Manningtree area. His batter is crisp and golden and his chips are lovely, not at all greasy. He serves Brantham on Thursdays (late afternoon) and also East Bergholt, Stutton and Manningtree. Keep an eye out for him :)
