Staff and food are both lovely.

Second visit, first time was great. Second time we have come down with horrendous food poisoning, still not right two weeks after the visit. Emailed them using the email address on the Facebook page, never had a response. One of the people I visited with had to ring to even get an acknowledgement - I’ve still not had a response two weeks later so have put in a hygiene concern with Sefton Council. Really poor show. Go somewhere that cares about you.

Everytime we go there they are always too busy to let us in, think they discriminate against older people. Quite quiet but stopped us going in. Tea rooms opposite, not a problem. Bistro verite not a problem.

The ambience is really nice but the place is understaffed, even for weekdays. You can expect a wait time of minimum 1 hr. Not recommended.

Good pizzas, salads a bit small.

Very nice place, good atmosphere but a bit on the expensive side.

Had to give a review as often visited this bar which has a great vibe, good service and great pizzas. Lots of available seating both inside, at the front of the bar and in the beer garden. Good choice of drinks. Just wanted to mention we got served by a great member of staff Tristan who was so friendly and helpful and good fun. A must if your visiting Birkdale Village. Try and get in early as it does get very busy especially

Great weather that day on a nice patio at Barrique. Ordered a couple of glasses of Chardonnay, Bruschetta and an Italian Flatbread. Barman asked if I wanted any ice? Unusual for a wine bar. So, I asked if the wine was cold. He said “yes” and so I said “no ice, thanks”. I returned to our table and he brought the wine over a bit later. I didn’t complain but the glasses were a bit greasy looking. There was some deposit on the inside of my glass but it was above the wine level. So, I drank out of the other side. The wine was not chilled! Strike 2. Oddly, the flatbread arrived before the bruschetta. We were then given cutlery wrapped in paper serviettes. My knife was dirty - encrusted with tomato and cheese. So, I went and found the waitress and got another set. While we eating the flatbread, the bruschetta arrived but without any pesto, which arrived a while later in a little dish. The food was OKish. The bruschetta was initially a little sweet tasting but, adding the pesto that arrived later, improved it. The edges of the flatbread were nicely cooked and enjoyable but the centre wasn’t cooked except on the very bottom, unrisen and soggy under the toppings. Probably, due to adding very cold toppings and letting it sit a while before putting it into the oven. We decided not to let it spoil a great Summer’s day on what is, inarguably a very nice patio.

The place is great, as is the food and entertainment however it was expensive for a relatively cheap wine - £9.50 for a large glass is okay if the wine is good and it was not. The good wine was £16.00 a glass

Went in early on a Friday evening, good atmosphere, good costumer service, sharing platter was delicious, service was great, very attentive.

I have visited this place a few times now, the food is superb, the drinks are lovely and all the staff are super friendly please ingnore negative comments on here some people are never happy, try this lovely restaurant its one of the best in the Village : )))

Met up with friends here last Saturday, only had 2 drinks here, overcharged on both. My mistake as I couldn't actually see the display on the card machine as the counter is quite high. Luckily I checked my bank & spotted it, the menu price was £9 & I was charged £9.50 both times- are tills not pre-programmed to match the menus? I was refunded, but how many other people get caught out like this?

Walked into this lovely bar,it was not very busy No acknowledgment whatsoever came our way when we walked in…so we showed ourselves to a table We watched two staff behind the bar chatting to each other,neither looking round at the customers around them We waited…eventually someone came over still no “Welcome or even Hello”just a what would you like to drink We watched as another couple walked in and received the same cold shoulder as us We were gonna stay for lunch but instead made a quick exit to a lovely restaurant over the road We wouldn’t recommend this place and we most certainly never return

Stopped here for a couple of glasses of wine with a mate. Staff were very friendly, the wine was priced reasonably and the place had a good vibe. Definitely somewhere I will go back to when next over in Birkdale

What a lovely place, the pizza I had was great very tasty and good value for money, great atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Went there yesterday with some family members for lunch. Excellent experience. Very pleasant staff and the service was impeccable. Food was well up to expectations. Recommend this establishment.

Pretty basic menu we had the dips and bread nothing special and the mature cheddar with chutney toasted sandwiches it was lovely but yet again nothing special wouldn't return.

A stylish well presented bar/restaurant very limited menu but the sharing platter we had was very nice. Unfortunately, It took an age to get a drink, place an order and get served and the place wasn’t even busy. I Even asked the manager if we could have another drink to be told she was busy and would come back to help in a few minutes - she never did. We left after waiting 25 minutes. On paying the manager for our food no apology or interest in our experience, not even eye contact. Leaves you wondering why these people work in hospitality when they have no idea what customer service is. We finished our lunch next door at Croziers who couldn’t have been more customer focussed. Will not return to Barrique, but then I don’t think they will be that bothered!

No better place to sit for a cup of afternoon tea. Friendly staff, great ambience. It's a 'yes' from us.

It was live music night. Is it just me, or does anybody else have an issue with excessively loud music close up when you're trying to hold a conversation? Kindly turn down the volume or put the musician further away, like er Liverpool?

Returned here after an unimpressive start back in the day. Very impressed now. Great atmosphere, excellent wine selection, beer in pints not just scooners as was, amazing tapas and the pizza's are just splendid. We asked of the wine and tapas tasting night and the young lady we spoke to was so enthusiastic and friendly, we booked straight away. The night itself was fabulous. I've been to wine tastings before and they have either had ugly wines or tiny samples or both but not here. The wines were a broad selection of Spanish tastes and good measures, perfectly complimented by some excellent tapas.

I absolutely love this bar 🍸. The sandwiches are fantastic. The staff are lovely, I always tip them and they are very welcoming. Thank you so much.

This is quite a gem. Staff are well presented, genuinely attentive but not overbearing. The pizza is fantastic. Balanced ambient music, in the sun with a beer and wine and you feel like you are in Spain or Italy. It's just a really enjoyable, relaxing place to be.

Nice bar! sat outside for a couple of hrs then went inside after it got a bit cold really good table service and pleasant staff.

This is our regular place to grab a beer or a tapas . It is in the heart of Birkdale village and the atmosphere is superb . Thursday nights there is music on and the building and outside area is a lovely set up . We have missed you over all lockdowns great to be back .

Recently we visited Barrique! We were the first to try their new menu which has just launched! Their food was absolutely gorgeous, we had a sharing board with a selection of meats, bruschetta, chorizo and camembert... They have a huge selection of wines to compliment their food too! They even offer cheese and wine tasting events and also live jazz nights! It was a really enjoyable evening in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with classy decor and low lighting. We were served by Kristina who is really passionate and caring about her customers. Thank you so much for having us, it was an absolute pleasure visiting ☺️P.S - They also have seating outside with heat lamps and twinkling lights (we can’t wait for long summer nights spent here!)

Lovely placex very nice ambience. Cappuccinos could be bigger though... demitasse cups aren't really suitable.

Been a couple of times and I quite like it as an alternative to other local bars. There are even vending machines for wine! Nice cool vibe going on and a little outside space for if it ever stops raining!

Called in for a drink on a Friday night, place wasn’t too busy. Went to the bar to be served with my husband and waited to be served. The young girl behind the bar was serving someone and the other girl was busy chatting and having a drink, she noticed us but said nothing! When the other girl stopped serving previous customer a group of lads walked up to the bar and she started serving them before us so we walked out! Such a shame that no one even said “sorry for your wait someone will serve you in a moment”! To be noticed but ignored is not good customer service, sort your staff out it’s rude and you’ve lost another customer!

How can it be that if you buy two pints of larger and two double spirits that the bill comes to nearly £28. The two double spirits one with lemonade and one with coke cost £17!!! How??? They are charging full price for a bottle of coke when a splash would do and saving Elder Flower type lemonade and charging for a full bottle when a splash of normal lemonade would do. That said, the price for double spirits is horrendous! All these factors lead to an overpriced round the likes of which cannot be matched easily with other competing bars and clubs in Birkdale and Southport. That alone puts me off ever returning

This is a very nice wine bar. A good selection of wines,nice food and very pleasant staff I really like this place.

Love it here, staff are fabulous. Food and drink exceptional. We take our dog with us and he's always made a fuss of and greeted with a "pupcake".

Fantastic lunch, especially as we only called in for coffee!!! Service was excellent from David who couldn’t have been more helpful, what an asset to the company. Will definitely recommend and call in again. Carole and Kevin

Went here for coffee with friends,not many people in.All looks very nice,£2.75 for the smallest cup of coffee only ok.I think so!! I stick with my usual coffee shop ,beginning with C.3star for ambience

Went into this relatively new bar in Birkdale on a rainy Saturday evening. Plenty of people in enjoying a drink in pleasant surroundings. I gather some of the beer is expensive but it doesn’t seem to be a problem here. Nice bar area and I loved your metro herringbone tiles. Downstairs toilets and a little outside area we couldn’t really use as it was very wet out.

Reserved a table in the "snug". Drinks were brought to our table and were made to feel very special. It was my birthday celebration and they couldn't do enough. Really made a fantastic start to our evening out. A big thank you from all of us.

Went for a drink on a sunny afternoon. This place is decorated beautifully. The outside area is lovely and great for a bit of people watching in the village. Drinks are averagely priced for Birkdale Village. We didn’t eat but the food we saw being served looked lovely.

Whether it be drink with family, friends or just an afternoon coffee in the sunshine, Barrique never disappoints! Great wine, great food and fantastic staff! The events are always 1st class and there’s always a warm welcome.

Following a dinner to celebrate our anniversary we called into Barrique for a night cap. Even though it was late and they were getting near to closing time Dan made us very welcome. At no point did he make us feel rushed. He took the time to chat with us and he clearly enjoys his job. We enjoyed a drink in the beautiful outdoor space. What a great way to end a lovely evening. Thanks Dan.

Came in with some friends to have a bite to eat and a few drinks. Manager was great, took some time to talk to me about wines which was much appreciated and enabled me find the right one for me and my friends. Also You have to try the wine vending machine.

I went to a Sunday afternoon gypsy jazz event here and was very impressed.The music was excellent and made very pleasant listening also not too loud.I was very interested in the wine system which offered a way to sample many different wines of good quality.I tried some tapas which were excellent, especially the jámon ibericoThe staff were excellent contrary to other reviewers, perhaps they have listened to trip advisor.Very pleasant and nice atmosphere

Great new bar, lovely at night, outdoor area with lights makes you feel as if your abroad. Lovely friendly bar staff. Drinks are little more expensive. But we’ll worth it for the ambience and atmosphere. Will definitely be visiting again.

We went on a Saturday with the wife and my Mum for a coffee and cake, asked for a menu only to be told look above your head the menu is there. Ordered coffee and a glass of wine with 2 smallish pastries, coffee came with the wine, we had to order it from the bar no service, one of the coffees was wrong so took it back and the smaller guy gave me a look of arrogance as why am i bringing it back. From then on bad service, very expensive, not great customer service skills and our last visit, if it lasts you will need to improve on the people who are front of house.

Visited for lunch as a couple and it only had one other couple in so expecting our food and drink order would be great! Girl behind the bar had no interest in us being there at all..wasn’t bothered if we needed anything or enjoyed our food etc and gave service with a smile a whole new meaning! wow manners don’t cost anything regardless of customer service training! place itself looks fab! overpriced compared to all other place surrounding but i wouldn’t mind paying a bit more for a good experience..massive need to sort out staff attitudes as we live local and would now not be a repeat visitor due to this girl..she clearly doesn’t like her job and is bored of it

This place was recommended to us, as we love cheese and wine but, unfortunately, we were told dogs are not allowed in, which is a bit disappoiniting in this day and age, particularly when we hear that the 'high street' is struggling for business. Will have to find somewhere else to take our cheese loving pooch.

Arrived for a spot of lunch to be told that they were serving no food today as the dishwasher was broken!! When did you last prepare food in a dishwasher?? Have they never heard of washing up? They must have lost a fortune as the village was buzzing.

A lovely location, but on a particularly sunny evening we understandably found a table outside. However having bought a bottle of wine and other drinks, we were very shortly afterwards told a private party had booked the outside and we would have to go inside. When we pointed out that this perhaps ought to have been mentioned when we bought the wine, and maybe a notice would have been helpful, the member of staff gave possibly the most insincere ‘apology’ and claimed there was a sign (it had been put out a short time before he asked us to move). Really poor, and over priced.

What a great place this is, nice environment, decor was great, great selection of drinks, food looked nice too, staff where helpful, knowledgeable and friendly it’s a must.

Wet Sunday morning, busy Birkdale as the super Vintage Home wet having a fair so decided to pop into Barrique for a coffee - we had recently called into their Lytham cafe and had a nice cake there. Asked for cake and the waitress looked at me like I was an idiot and stated "we don t do cake only pastries" and pointed to two sad croissants and three pastries sitting unloved at the end of the counter - I felt sorry for asking such a plebeian question!

We hoped this would be a great addition to Birkdale, especially with the Verve closing. The environment is amazing, looks great and the potential in the summer is awesome. I think the wine vending machines are quirky. On the whole the staff have been really nice. We’ve visited this place maybe 5 times since it opened and each time we’ve given it the benefit of the doubt and hoped it would get better. Such a shame it hasn’t. This place really needs to make up its mind what it wants to be. If the focus here is the drink then make it appealing to everyone. You have beer on draft but not served as pints. You might think that’s hipster but it’s not. It’s just irritating. Serve me a pint and let me enjoy my beer. The Vincent gets away with it but that’s because their priority is food. You don’t. If your priority is food then please do it properly. Our first 3 visits there was no food available. The second 2 times the menu has failed to impress. Sandwiches in bags piled up on the counter don’t inspire confidence. The rest of the menu feels like you’re playing at it. The vast majority of people in Birkdale want a place where you get something nice to eat and enjoy a few drinks. Currently you’re failing on both counts. If you sort this out you could be amazing. Currently other than your events you appeal to no one - and we desperately need something different in Birkdale.

Bar looks great inside and out, as we live locally we were looking forward to visiting. Unfortunately we were really disappointed with the choice and quality of drinks, no prosecco, cava was flat and acrid, the gins my friends ordered tasted watered down and horrible, all 6 of us did not like our drinks which was really surprising. Such a shame.

Went to Barrique's Gin tasting evening last night, it started at 7pm and finished at 11pm, hosted by the brilliant Sommelier who gave a great talk and introduced each of the six gins and then talked with everybody on many occasions during the event. Also thrown in was a wooden board full of a selection of meats, pickled vegetables and bread etc and then as a bonus another board with three delicious cheese's with more bread . An absolutely brilliant evening and all this for 30.00 quid, I will be first in the queue when they hold another one. The only down side, was having to get the train home as it was absolutely freezing cold on the platform.

Visited here as often frequent the flagship on Lytham at Anne’s !! So glad I did what a great addition to Birkdale village, a friendly wine deli bar fitted out with class ! What a great idea the automated wine dispensers are if gives you a chance to purchase samples of all the wines on offer,got talking to Joel the manager who is clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about his craft, if you are ever passing this place go in and support them they deserve to succeed anyone investing that size of capital in to any venture in these times of austerity deserve to win !! Some great pastries and snacks on offer also.Just one criticism......... oh no sorry that’s the place over the road where the staff stood talking and didn’t see me waiting at the bar to be served !!

We enjoyed a well organised wine tasting event at this venue. We had a warm welcome from staff and were shown to our designated table. There was a great selection of wines to sample along with some delicious bites to eat. Throughout the evening the host gave a talk on the origins of each wine and there were plenty to sample. There was a good atmosphere with twinkly candles and sheepskin rugs to cosy up to (although it was a bit chilly in the toilets!)The bar is a great addition and fits in well to the village of Birkdale, all in all,well worth a visit and will be fab in the summer when the outside space can also be utilised.

Barrique is a lovely bar in the heart of Birkdale village. The prices are appropriate in comparison to the rest of the village and the atmosphere inside is great. Great service from lovely staff and the vending machine is a clever concept so you can have a taste of new wines that you might not normally choose! Definitely worth a visit!

Firstly, I am a local of Birkdale, I welcome Birkdale Village being busy but ever since I saw this place was being developed with the strapline of "Wine Vending Machines" I have been reticent of its very existence!Reticence no more, I was right, it really is as insignificant as I thought it would be. Basically the place is a deli with a bar. The wine vending concept is ridiculous. Another step along the catwalk of taking humans out of jobs. You credit a card at the bar and then insert to be debited at your chosen win, place a glass underneath and select your measure. What a waste of time!!!! Here is a novel concept, why not go to the bar, engage with a friendly human and then order a selected wine and pay!All I can think of in the card scheme is making the small amount of unused dreg money into the coffers for expired or unused cards. A completely pointless idea!!!!So, internally, the design is akin to a mid 90's bar with tall tables and bamboo type stools..maybe they got a job lot from the Paradox or Fallows Too when selecting the decor! The white marble tops, while expensive, live in kitchens and not bars!!!!I asked for a pint of their craft lager and instead was offered a "schooner". I have never ordered a schooner of anything and so as such, this is the first and last time!!!Overall, not the best place, with the marble tops and vending machines, I am thinking more of the look of a Spanish 2 star breakfast buffet setup than a classy bar in Birkdale. Sorry guys, I wont be back.
