Barringtons Pub and Dining in Derbyshire Dales

Wow, what a find! Unable to eat at the pub we originally went to due to problem with their kitchen, so we headed off not knowing where we were headed and found Barringtons. Extremely friendly, food was delicious and beer and wine great. Returned two days later and will not hesitate again. Thank you.

What a family friendly place. Staff were delightful, they liked after us do well. We found this gem just by accident, Ruby our Chocolate Labrador was made so welcome. The pheasant dish was to die for. Great value for money. We will be back as a lovely friendly welcoming establishment. Well done all.

We called in here for an impromptu evening meal with our 4 year old grandson as we were staying at nearby Landal Darwin Forest & he wanted the lasagne that Barringtons had on their Children’s Menu. We ordered our drinks & perused the menus, whereupon our Grandson decided he didn’t fancy it after all, nor anything else on the menu! In desperation, I asked the kind & patient gentleman taking our order (& everyone else’s) if he might be able to do a jacket potato with cheese & baked beans (not on the menu!) to which he replied cheerfully, “No problem!” we then ordered our own meals of scampi, peas & chips. The meals were served very quickly which, when you have a grouchy but hungry 4 year old, was extremely welcome! We soon polished off our tasty meals & drinks, paid the bill & were on our way. I just had to review to say how grateful we were to the lovely gentleman who looked after us so well that evening; over and above service & delicious food - what’s not to like!?

Came to Barringtons to spend an evening with family watching a brass band, what a poor establishment, 20 min queue to the bar with 1 staff on , eventually another staff member appeared, both staff were short in temperament and obviously under pressure, ordered a pedigree and a pint of Diet Pepsi, got back to our table and the Pepsi was flat , took it back and the bartender poured it from one glass to another, I said you are joking, you’ve just made it flatter, he pulled another swirling the glass to create bubbles, obviously doesn’t understand. We ordered duck spring rolls, nachos and chicken Goujons food was nice however melted cheese on nachos and brown lettuce was imo poor cheffing. The Band were fantastic,

Just returned from an overnight stay at Barringtons, we booked as we were attending an event at the nearby Chatsworth house! It’s such a beautiful building, lovely pub/restaurant with extremely friendly staff & landlord. Our rooms were just perfect, big, really lovey & nice touches with the little chocolates left on our bed. When we arrived we were allowed an early check in and checked in by a really friendly female staff member, sorry did not catch her name, but she was really helpful! We ate lunch in the restaurant before we left and the food was really, really good as was the service from Josh. All round we had an excellent stay and would most definitely recommend.

Fabulous place to eat and stay. We booked the suite and it was so lovely! An extremely comfortable four poster bed with a sofa and great view across the park. We ate in the little side room with lots of black and white pictures of movie stars, and the food was incredible! The best pizza I think I've ever had, and my husbands steak was perfect. I would highly recommend this place and we will definitely return when we are next up this way in a few months. I must also mention the 2 fabulous ladies- one on the bar and one in the restaurant, who were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Not very impressed. Food portions were expensive and tiny. Staff couldn't tell us pre-order any details. Ladies toilets out of action, with a request to use the disabled toilet instead ... which had a broken cistern and couldn't be flushed. Disinterested staff. Won't be going again.

A bit of a time warp ... more like a 50s dining room than a modern pub. But the menu was good enough, food was fine and the service excellent.

Staying in the area went Monday evening for dinner all excellent, food and service, so went back Tuesday evening food again very good but service not so good, they did say there may be a wait but over an hour so a bit too long On the plus side 2 cocktails for £12.00

What a fantastic find this was. Walking into Barringtons was a bit like walking back in time. It is so warm and welcoming. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The menu was brilliant. However if the restaurant was full it may have felt a bit crowded as the tables are very close together. We enjoyed a lovely lunch and will return next time we are in the area

As a family group of 16 - we were looked after really well. We had 14 Sunday Lunches and 2 pizzas and didn’t have to wait long - food was really good!

We came up to Darley Dale for an overnight stay for a wedding, so we decided to avail ourselves of the restaurant while we were there. We were pleasantly rewarded with well prepared and tasty food in a traditional English food style menu. Nothing fancy, just good, wholesome fare at reasonable prices. I had the mixed game pie with vegetables and the wife had plaice. Both very nice. We also enjoyed our overnight stay in this old and traditional establishment. Probably slightly dated now and carpark small but the rooms comfortable and nice showers and there is parking down the adjacent Station Road, so not too much of an issue.

We'd a lovely family midweek meal here. Beautiful building (bet the beer garden is beautiful on a sunny day!) Booked an hour ahead and they were very accommodating. Really tasty, filling food for the adults and a nice kids menu for the littlies. Staff were so friendly, couldn't be more helpful. Really reasonably priced too. Thanks so much!

We walked from our AirBnB, so the find was by chance. Pub and restaurant offerings w/ different menus. We ate in the restaurant for the broader menu. Outdoor or indoor seating for the pub. Would definitely return.

We ate here as a party of 10 on a Saturday evening and were impressed with the food and service. The menu is varied, so there was something for everyone's taste. The food was freshly cooked and the portions were generous. The service was friendly and attentive.

Arrived on a Monday night, seemed fairly quiet and weren't sure at first if we were going to get any service at all, helping ourselves to menus and taking a seat all without any sign of any staff. When the waiter arrived he was great, ordered a steak and a prawn salad - all perfectly fine and reasonable quality. Large portions all round looking at other diners offerings. An unexpected find.

Really nice restaurant/pub the fillet steak was lovely the staff where very friendly and helpful. The manager is a really nice man , the young lady was very helpful and friendly.

Supringly very good for a bargain price. We stayed for one night and ate in the restaurant. Rooms were large and very clean. The food and service was very good. Only dropped one score due to the duvet veing way too thick and warm for summer.

Have just spent a lovely evening/night here. The Ale was reasonably well kept.. My partner had 2 nice cocktails. The accommodation was spacious, large TV, good sized bathroom, clean etc. By far the best was the food. If 8I scored it on food alone it would get A*. The pigeon starter was absolutely amazing. I don't normally like black pudding but it complimented the pigeon so well. Black Seabream for mains were incredible on risotto was mind-blowing. It really was 1st class food. Thank You very much. We are really going to struggle the rest of the weekend to find food anywhere near as good

Excelent sunday roast (we all chose beef), beautifully served with a selection of vegetables, mash and roast potatoes and extra gravy. Plenty of beef which was cooked to perfection and plenty of it. Would have loved a desert but was too full. Lovely waiting on staff. We will be back. Highly recommend.

As we were staying on a Bank Holiday, we called during the day to check that the restaurant would be open in the evening. The lady who answered the phone had to check and then confirmed that the kitchen would close at 20.00 . Came down for dinner at 18.45 to be told that the kitchen had closed at 17.00. Some apology from the bar manager and the suggestion that we should take a taxi to a pub. Perhaps an indication of a poorly run business?

Popped in here for an early dinner whilst staying in Darley Dale last weekend. We had a quick drink in the bar then dinner in the restaurant. Great food and our waiter , also the barman , was very attentive. Would recommend

Stayed 2 nights room was spacious bed comfy ,room needs a good clean up curtains hanging off runners carpet badly stained and furniture generally run down ,never used bar or restaurant so cant comment .

What an awful dirty place , dirty plates, toilets that don’t look like they have been cleaned for weeks Had the gammon steak and the chef would not provide me a poached egg instead of a fried egg why ??

Had seen this in passing on the A6 main road. What a place. Couldn't have asked for better service and food exceptional at such a reasonable price. Will return for sure.

We visited here for Sunday lunch. We had 2 pate’s to start and a prawn cocktail. All good. Wine menu was good. Main course 1 lamb, 1 beef and 1 pork… again very good. Beautiful Yorkshire puddings and nice vegetables and potatoes with lovely gravy....

This is the most amazing bar/restaurant I have ever ever been in, such nice owners, so heart warming and loving and made us feel so welcome! Blown away by how nice the food was even sat outside it was just lovely, will definitely be making a return shortly! X

Excellent bar and restaurant with friendly, attentive and efficient staff. I only went in for quick pint, but both bars were pretty full and menu looked excellent. I/we look forward to eating and drinking here. Considering the difficulties of Covid and the various restrictions and Tiers, Barrington's are top notch!

We visited here twice while we were on holiday in the area. Both times the meals were lovely and well presented. Staff are lovely and friendly. First time I had the steak which was cooked just how I had asked it and the home made chips were to die for, could of done with a few more though. Then Sunday we went for lunch and again this was really good. Big portion of meat and real gravy. Will certainly go again when in the area

Average pub grub nothing special.Cold dining room no fires. Owner pleasant but food 4 out of 10.The pizza I had was covered in cold previously cooked chicken.Portions were ok the sweets I had ie sticky toffee pudding was the best thing I had.

Just come back from dinner and this was the best meal so far during our week' trip to the area. Varied menu although we both had steaks, a rib-eye and a fillet. Steaks came with Onion rings, tomato, mushrooms and chips. I added a pepper sauce with mine. My fillet was fabulous, cooked perfectly and was so tender it melted. Finished with a dessert of chocolate brownie served with vanilla icecream, which was gorgeous. Other half enjoyed his rib-eye and finished his email with apple & lemon sorbet, a large ball of each served in a brandy snap basket. This is great for a lighter finish. Staff were attentive and friendly. Lots of options for draught beers and loads of gins to work through if that's your thing, from the trendy fruit flavoured to those for the more refined palate. Would definitely recommend and may well visit again for our last night meal.

We visited Barringtons for the first time on Monday whilst the 'eat out to help out' scheme was on. We both ordered steaks which were served exactly how we asked and they were delicious! Staff were also lovely and helpful which was an added bonus. We will definitely be back.

Just spent a weekend here and had a great time. Barringtons is not a 5* establishment -but it doesn't set out to be - it's a comfortable, clean, friendly establishment with great food and great service.It was interesting to see how many locals use the restaurant (and the pub!) and apparently they do the regularly. The menu is straightforward with plenty of variety and the food is very tasty - well cooked and presented. We'd certainly stay again.

We go here with my aging parents off peak on a Weekend, the staff are always helpful and assist in getting us settled in the quieter room. Food is always well prepared and service is good. What more can you ask for

Brilliant food starters was a fish platter to share all of it wonderful then we had steak which was cooked and seasoned perfectly to finish we shared the pecan pie which was truly exquisite I thoroughly recommend a visit

We stayed in a local b&b a 10 min walk from Barringtons. We went for the 2 steaks and a bottle of wine deal. Food was lovely and the service very good. Lovely places that we would recommend to anyone staying in the village.

We stopped for a night here, we only booked a small double, but on entering the room it was bigger than my house, it was a proper wow, John the Head bar/restaurant manager John, sorted this for us, we also had a meal there, were he had reserved a little table near the fireplace for 2, which was lovely as it was our anniversary, so quite romantic. We had a meal which was lovely, had Under the sea to start then 2 steaks and stilton sauce a brulee and cheese board, it was so good, In the morning Head chef Andrew made us a massive breakfast which was so tasty, we had plans of a walk but went home and had snooze. the room was so lovely, staff fantastic, took the time to talk to us which is a lovely quality in people, nothing is more important that someone giving you their time, thanks so much for a wonderful stay

Staying in a B&B half a mile away so went here for dinner after searching on TA and been recommended by lady at B&B. Had a really nice meal, plaice goujons to start followed by butternut squash lasagne, very tasty. The desserts were also good, had the vanilla brûlée. We both really enjoyed our meal which was reasonably priced as it was in my opinion better than your average pub grub. Can highly recommend, the staff were also very friendly and courteous.

It’s a very striking looking building that forms part of the Whitworth Institute in Two Dales. It has two rooms and letting bedrooms upstairs (which are very good with very comfortable beds) It has a nice selection of drinks and had a couple of lovely pints of Pedigree. The food is of a higher standard than you might expect. A very full menu of specials and regular menu. Good vegetarian options as well. I had some salmon en croute which was terrific. It’s pub, rather than restaurant, service but still it was cheerful and professional. We will be visiting TwoDales again soon and hope to visit Barringtons again.

A really great find. The food looked and tasted amazing. We had the pie of the day and “the hog” - a pork burger with pulled pork and crackling. Both were excellent. Came with chips or dauphinois potatoes and then veg or a salad. Well worth a visit. Very reasonable prices too!

Great local pub with amazing wines, Gins and beers! The staff are amazing here and the owner is great and friendly! Recently visited the queen and ABBA tribute bands and the outside bar was great and decently priced! I’ll definitely carry on being a regular customer here

Absolutely brilliant staff. Cant beleive drunken people who bring thier own drinks and are rude to staff because they have been caught out drinking their own drinks and are told to leave, make situations up that didnt happen. Fantastic place to go! Fantastic food. Fantastic company from locals and staff!!!!!!

well where do I start, friendly bar staff and was nice to see them enjoying them self as well as all in attendance, rob was walking round talking to everyone which was really nice as it made you feel extremely welcome, yes okay ques at bar and toilets but what do you expect when it's a busy event, and the bands they had on in side also amazing cant wait for next years!

We arrived, unannounced, 4 adults and 2 dogs - and were warmly welcomed to eat in the bar. Throughout, the staff were engaging, helpful and infomed.

Absolutely disgusting customer service during the ABBA tribute towards me and my friends. Phone destroyed by the owner and now has water damage from a drink poor all over it. Was swore at and he commented on all our appearances, the way he spoke to his customers was absolutely disgusting. Verbally abusive. Please stay away from this place, he is disgusting! Will be taking this further.

Over the years we must have driven past this place many times ,well today we called for lunch.the restaurant was empty , but not to be deterred we ordered our food

This pub was about half a mile from our holiday cottage. We had Sunday lunch there which was good value for the price but not too inspiring. The staff were friendly And the device good.

Got there and our table was ready. Had goats cheese and fig in filo parcels - yum. Then had sea bream on an asparagus risotto- this was really good. Veggies and chips in proliferation, others had burgers, steaks, pies, chicken. We all enjoyed it and kept chatting for ages. The service was friendly and efficient and this is a great place for a get together with conversation.

From the pictures I thought this was a country house hotel, however it turned out to be a pub with rooms! the bedrooms being up a steep set of stairs. Having said that the staff were friendly, the room was huge and warm and the bed comfortable. Meals were served in the (bar) dining room which inevitably was noisy with parties of diners in. The food was very good though.

On recommendation by our B and B host, we reserved a table here. As the panelled dining room was fully booked, we were seated in the bar area. We chose from the set menu, as it was excellent value for money. We were not disappointed, the starter, mains and desserts were all well presented and tasted great. The set menu is available Monday to Thursday evenings.

We live local to Barringtons so my family and I have had food and drinks here regular and attend events put on by the owner's frequently. It has a fantastic well kept beer garden and comfy cosy dining inside. I have never had a bad experience here and will recommend it to anyone when asked. Perfect for any function or occasion. Keep up the fantastic food and hospitality Rob & Team, 5 Stars :)

I visited this venue last year with 8 of my mates for my birthday when I found out they were hosting a band called ‘Noasis’. We all had a fantastic day, the staff were a credit to the business, always on hand to serve a vast array of drinks! Unfortunately I’ve not been able to make the past two events due to unforeseen circumstances...... but will be back soon!

We come every year to be tret very well by staff. Lovley food! Great rooms too! Will defiantly keep returning and reccomend to all my friends and customers at work. Shame i saw alot of people taking their own drinks in and denying it. Can't wait to go back. Hats off to the staff who were extremly busy last night.

We travelled from Dorset for a family reunion to meet with our daughters and my father. 3 generations planned to view the queen tribute band. The manager incorrectly accused my daughter of purchasing alcohol from a nearby store. He and his staff were abusive and both my daughter and her grandfather were very upset.

Rude,aggressive staff.The staff were intimidating and made us feel very uncomfortable. We are local customers who visit regularly due to location but now will travel out of our way just to avoid the rude imcompetent staff.

The manager is extremely rude and needs to re-educate himself on the basic principles of good customer service. Will never return

An amazing building and not what you expect as you walk in, little rooms with tables for dinning then through to the main bar area which was very welcoming, the beer was good and the wine also great ( my wife said so ) the food was prompt and well cooked , the overall atmosphere was very friendly and we were glad we chose here to eat

This is an ideal location for visiting the area as it is very near to Chatsworth House and The Heights of Abraham. The breakfast is delicious and very tasty and the optonal vegetarian cooked breakfast was particularly enjoyed by some of our party. The evening meals were also exceptional with good vegetarian options.Clean plates all round! In the bar area there is a collection of pictures of old film stars which provided great entaintainment with a "guess who" added attraction.The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would certainly recommend and won't break the bank!

Booked a last minute night away and was expecting to pay a lot more than what we did, I’m still surprised by the low cost we paid. Room was large, drinks were good we didn’t arrive back until after they had stopped serving food however there appeared to be a choice for everyone in the menu. Parking was limited luckily as we arrived early enough we were able to get a space.

This was my first visit to barrington's although I have passed it many times whilst travelling on the A6. The building is very large and from the outside appearance I was never sure whether it was a Hotel, Guest House, Pub or Music Venue. On entering the premises I went into a large room on the right which was occupied by locals drinking at the bar as well as people dining. There was also a smaller room off to the back which was unoccupied and has an old fashioned jukebox and walls covered in black and white photographs of famous people from the stage and screen. There was a good range of drinks available including three real ales and the food menu provided a large selection of choice. The food I had was of a very high standard and the prices were reasonable. This venue is not your usual country pub or hotel but does offer very good value for money. I have no hesitation in recommending a visit to barrington's.

A great place to go for a midweek evening meal. Plenty of offers and an excellent choice of food. The service was superb and the staff are really friendly. A good choice of ales as well. Perfect.

We called and got a table for 4 with no issue, Sunday offer of 2 course for 12.50 or 3 for 15.00 Excellent service and food Was very happy with the roasts on offer wonder. All staff were helpful and polite

8 of us went walking around Chatsworth and called here for Sunday lunch. Nice food great service and brilliant value for money. Will definitely return.

We ate at the pub when staying at the bed and breakfast for a weekend, staff were attentive and friendly and the menu was varied enough that most people should find something to eat. The starters soon arrived and were nearly large enough for a main course, well cooked, presented and very tasty, mains arrived in good time and likewise, there was plenty to eat and the food was good quality, washed down with a pint from the bar. For desert, there was again enough choice and the cheeseboard was excellent, all that remained was to retire from the oak panelled dining room to the bar to relax with a local G&T;.

I was pleased to get a table at one following a late booking. There was a function in the main room so we were in the oak panelled dining room, which I prefer. The service was great, we ordered our drinks at the table, and the Roast Beef and Yorkshires were excellent. The portion size was very ample. No need for a sweet!

A booking of a large party of eight was fairly well catered for an evening meal in the middle of a week. We were well welcomed and shown to a large table in a window. Menu choices were given, with some items on the menu not available. We placed our orders which had to be changed due to what we were ordered going to another customer, and what we ordered. Unfortunately a plate was broken on the floor and an additional dish had to be listed. The food arrived and a number of people said how excellent it was, particularly the vegetarian dishes. I had chicken pieces breaded and served with a blue cheese sauce. I found the chicken rather dry even with the source. But this was mitigated by excellent chips and vegetables. The deserts for those who had them seemed quite satisfactory.

I’ve heard good things about this place and only just got round to trying it.

Welcoming clean venue, home cooked tasty, well portioned food. courteous and friendly staff. All needs catered for and dogs allowed in the bar. We'll make this our regular see you there.

came here for a meal as we where staying near by for a break and as it was walking distance we thought we would go for a meal and glad we did the food was great we had the deal 30.pound for two steaks and a bottle of wine or two fish dishes and bottle of wine so pleased with it we went back the next night and that was just as good they had a good choice of otherthing on the menu .The staff where very good to and very helpfull see you again when we come for another break

Only two members of staff visible and both the bar and restaurant were covered by them, which meant that service in both areas was slow.

I was impressed with the service. Friendly and attentive staff; if you have any questions they seem happy to cater to your needs. My mum is a celiac so for her gluten free options were a must!! She was happy with the amount of options available and was encouraged to know the chef made allowances. Worth noting there are no GF options on the set menu. My standards of cleanliness are much higher than the average person, but even for me I felt the environment was acceptably clean.

Really good quality food, quick service, fresh ingredients and ambient settings. Dog friendly too which is great!

Barringtons hosted our wedding reception for 16 people, and we were delighted by the whole experience. The function room was the perfect size for our party, and the upstairs hotel rooms were very comfortable and convenient.
