This was my second time visiting Barrafina, and it was just as wonderful as I remembered. It’s such a joy to sit at the bar and watch the chefs prepare each dish right in front of you. The waitress who helped us with our order was incredibly thoughtful and knowledgeable. Whatever we asked, she was polite, attentive, and happy to help. I’ll definitely keep coming back to Barrafina!

Great experience at Barrafina. We ordered 5 tapas and two desserts, roughly 50£pp (no drinks). A great experience and diverse selection. Highly recommend the queen scallops, squid ink rice, and chorizo tortilla.

It was a nice evening spent with friends at Barrafina Coal Drops Yard. Really nice to be sat in the back end, felt nice and quiet and got to chat and enjoy the food with my friends that evening. Food quality overall was great, and had a wonderful variety of choices (this is both food and drink), and range from vegetarian to meat options. Love the dessert as well, there was so many good options we had to order a few and shared between us. Service was good overall, though one of the waitresses did forget our additional drink orders half way through our meal and we had to chase up on some food order as well. A few occasions it did take a while to get a staff member's attention.

Overall a good place. The service was good but one of the staff members was haughty. The atmosphere inside is great on a sunny day - the place is nicely decorated and has a large window on the first floor, so you have a great panoramic view. The food was good with some great options but it is really overpriced. Pan con Tomate tasted well but obviously had a plain taste. Parton peppers were good. Cod croquettes - their special menu offering - were great. I did not like the tortillas that much (both classic and the prawn versions) - the texture was weird and I’d love to see deeper flavour in the classic option. Tuna tartare was great. Cod Pil Pip tasted too plane in my opinion and I expected way more. Gambas Rojas were just okay and nothing more - they were small and at 5GBP per piece - astonishing price. Ox cheek fritters were amazing! Lamb skewers were great too - the meat was tender while not fatty. Chicken thigh with romesco was great too, and features an amazing crispy skin. Tapa de entrecot was just fine - I’d expect a higher quality meat there. Patatas bravas were good, but did not have anything justifying the price. Overall the food is mostly tasty but you can find other places in London with same or better quality Spanish tapas food at almost 2x smaller price. Overall if money is not an issue or you need a place in this very neighbourhood then it’s a good option but not sure otherwise

Great tapas, but a bit expensive. They served all the tapas at once. I would have preferred they spaced them out. The wine list is good and good value. Expect to spend £80 or £90 per head and still be hungry

We recently had a private dining with eighteen people at the restaurant. It was a very positive experience - the room looked beautiful and the food and drinks were delicious.. The staff were lovely and very helpful. It felt very relaxed but also that we were well taken care of. Children were also accommodated well. A very special experience.

Indifference service. I’d expect more than that when paying £100 pp Ordered a cocktail, barely touched it and ordered a new one instead, I know I should have paid for it, that is obvious I guess, but cocktail stayed on the counter all evening without a single inquiry from the team about it- and that was just one example. Like I said, indifference service.

Barrafina delivered some beautifully crafted dishes—the tuna briçon, lamb pintxo, and grilled artichoke were especially memorable. The kitchen was clearly on form that night. However, there was a quiet but significant oversight during the wine service. It involved a mix-up between two very different bottles—one of them rather special—and while it was acknowledged later, the way it was handled didn’t quite meet the level one might expect in a place of this calibre. A shame, really. The food deserved better context.

Food and quality was excellent. They also allows dogs indoors which is a great bonus in this area. We ordered a number of dishes, what was really impressive was the dishes were served in different groups which completed each other as they came out. Service was really friendly. High recommend the tuna tartare!

Been here for lunch 3 times now. Great food and brilliant service. It's got a very modern yet 'traditional' feel about the place. I'm going again on Friday!

The food was ok, but fundamentally they just wanted my table back. So big yay on the food, but don't go for a relaxing experience or to catch up with a mate because as soon as you enter the building their objective is for you to leave.

Great food and restaurant in general. Perfect place to bring groups or family. The service was amazing as well. We had our best time there. You have to share everything to try a bit of all the menu. I will definitely come back to Barrafina. Thank you for hosting us.

It was frankly just meh... not bad at all, but nothing to write home about. Fine to eat there if you are in the neighbourhood but would not make a special trip to eat there.

We had dinner last week and the experience was very good. Although it was Tuesday the restaurant was full, however the service was excellent. Polly was watching over us at all times. We ordered dessert when we had 10 minutes left in the reservation and since the next diners had already arrived, they asked us if we would mind changing seats in exchange for treating us to dessert. I will repeat when I return to London. I don't give the food 5 stars because I missed that they served bread.

The ambiance, service, and staff were all very nice. However, unfortunately, something we never expected to happen at such a place did happen—food poisoning. On Friday evening, we had arroz negro, and it severely upset our stomachs. The following day, which unfortunately was our last in London, was completely ruined. We were unable to leave our beds all day, suffering from fever and vomiting. If even Barrafina can cause food poisoning, I genuinely don’t know where to go or what to eat anymore.

Amazing Spanish tapas restaurant in Coal Drops Yard, known for their seafood. I’ve visited some of their other locations in London, and can say this branch does not disappoint! Everything tasted delicious, service was good, and the atmosphere was very nice. Instead of the usual counter seating, I opted for one of their few dining tables, offering a much more intimate dining experience (if you want to sit at a table be sure to book in advance). Food-wise, I highly recommend the txistorra tortilla, gambas rojas, and pan con tomate. On the day I visited they had mussels as a special, which were very good, but I wish it came with some bread to soak up all the sauce. Overall, a great place to eat if you’re looking for good seafood and sharing plates.

Barrafina is one of our go to spanish restaurants in London. I love their food and they always have specials. You can fill your cravings for fresh fish and seafoods in grill for reasonable prices.

Searched for gluten free restaurant, Barrafina came up, menu looked lovely but for our GF friend unfortunately there was very limited choice, so we decided not to dine there. However, the staff member we dealt with was very helpful going through the GF menu choices available. Part of the problem is if you are coeliac, it excluded approximately 75% of the menu due to possible gluten contamination rather than gluten content.

Great staff, but sadly the food is lacking in flavour and looks like it is processed. Such a shame , but it lacks the type of tapas bar we crave for in Spain

We loved the food! Too many good things to choose from on the menu. I recommend the omelettes, best I’ve had. Service was friendly too. We sat down at the table, I’d recommend booking in advance.

I been in barrafina with my friends and we really enjoyed the food, tastes like when you are in San Sebastián, authentic Spanish food!! So tasty!

Idk what went wrong but everything in my meal was off. The ham croquettes came cold but they were nice enough to serve new ones that were hot. I saw them testing and resending it back until it was hot. It’s still way too salty though. I think they should have balanced the salty ham with less salty cheese filling. I also had the squid ink rice. Holy, it was so salty that I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. The best thing in the squid ink rice is the squid which was tender. I ordered the cheesecake as a last attempt to salvage my meal but the cheesecake tasted spoilt???? I don’t want to be a difficult customer but I’m sitting here with all my unfinished food. It’s so bad. This was such a bad meal. I wish I had never come to this place. I really wanted to like it.

Barrafina always comes through for us, making us feel welcome every time! The food is just as amazing as at their other locations. A big shout out to Sydney for the fantastic hospitality!

I love this place. We went for a birthday celebration and had booked a table so we were in the gorgeous dining room out the back. The food was delicious and came out quickly and at perfect intervals for a tapas meal. The wine was delicious. And our waitress was very attentive, helpful and good fun. Would 100% recommend to anyone.

We truly enjoyed the food—every bite was a delight. The squid ink risotto was exceptional, and the gambas were perfectly cooked and flavorful. Definitely would revisit.

I didn't know much about Spanish food, but it was nice that the friendly manager explained it to me step by step. I chose 6 menu items and they were all delicious. The menu recommended by the manager was also very delicious. For Koreans, it would be a good idea to go to Barrafina here.

I loved the original Barrafina and when they opened next to my place in Kings Cross, I was ecstatic. I went first in 2019 - was a terrible experience from a service and food perspective. I had decided not to go again, but tonight I thought i give it a try. I have to say that i enjoyed the food and wine. Yes, it’s pricey, but everything in London has been lately. The lady serving us was fantastic - for a first time in a while someone knows their wine list by heart!!! She was the best! Unfortunately, I would not be coming back, because I was literally kicked out and told to leave twice by two different people because the next couple was already there. First, 90 minutes is not enough for a tapas dinner. Second, if we have 10 mins left and you are so desperate to squeeze people in, maybe let us know so that we don’t order desserts and wine, which we had done. Third, if you have 8 seats with a free counter, maybe buy some chairs, so that you can create seating. Finally, and this is the most important, as a host, don’t come and tell clients in a snap manner “the next clients are here!”, i.e. go!

Great place to have dinner. Very abundant and accurate dishes in their preparation. It's nice to be sitting on the counter in front of the various cooks preparing the dishes. Very kind and considerate staff. A special thanks to Mr. Vasillis who was really kind and helpful in everything. Place recommended fair prices.

I always make sure to come here when visiting London. The food is always delicious, and the service was on point. We ordered Negros Arroz (squid ink rice), one of the best rice dishes, pan fried gambas with garlic, grilled sea bream (got the last one before they ran out), mushroom croquettes, and pimiento padrón. They were all great.

Tortilla - pretty yummy, filled with prawn 🍤 😋 but when contrasted with squid ink rice, it becomes plain, since the squid ink is really salty. The squid ink rice was yummy and fruity though.

The place is very packed and seating is uncomfortable. The food is okay, but not worth the relatively high price.

Barrafina is always exceptional food although on the expensive side. They have the absolute best ham croquetas in the world. This location is not as atmospheric as the other ones and perhaps their sister grill restaurant next door, Parrilan, is a better option this side of town.

Good Spanish food, very close to Kings cross and st Pancras stations. Definitely book in advance as the place is fairly small and it can get busy very easily, particularly on the weekends or during the holidays. The black rice was delicious. It is a bit overpriced, but the quality of the ingredients is good.

I’d heard great things about Barrafina. Sadly, we left really disappointed. I don’t usually leave reviews but this was meant to be a treat celebrating with a friend and our experience was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Staff were stressed and unfriendly. Shockingly, I was even told to be quick selecting a drink as they were ‘really busy tonight’ (accompanied by a few chivvying claps in my direction) - I was speechless. We really enjoyed the ham croquetas but everything else felt really overpriced and underwhelming. Other tapas bars in town spring to mind for a warmer welcome and heartier food.

10/10 food , ambience , service and experience. My favourite Spanish restaurant in London :)

Smallest prawn I have ever seen for £24.5

I went there with a friend after work and we were seated at the bar. The food was delicious but I was a bit disappointed with the portion vs the price. I know this is tapas but this is quite pricey overall. In terms of decoration and all, this was pretty standard and nothing specific caught my eye. Thought it was nice to see the people working in the kitchen and preparing in front of you.

⭐️ Food was incredible ⭐️ Great venue & vibe ⭐️ Service slow, had to wait ages for some dishes, I did complain as nobody kept us updated. Appreciate it was busy, but they could have told us when we ordered the wait times rather than us waiting. Will definitely return 🙌

Always good this place ! best croquettes in London and always great value, best thing about this place is the service. Such an intimate way of eating being on the counter and if your lucky enough to be served by the lovely Isabelle then you'll be sure to have an amazing time.

I keep returning here, not only for the top quality food but also the extensive wine list, the attentive service and the extra touches on special occasions. The menu highlight is the tortilla, rich and runny in the middle. Their specials menu always offers something new to try, especially for lovers of fish.

Pretty disappointed in this place after hearing good things. Food was poor quality, under seasoned and the seafood tasted a bit off… I think they were just rushing things out as it was a Saturday. Would definitely expect nicer food and fresher ingredients for the price point. Service was good and the room at the back is nice. However, wouldn’t go again…
