Barnyard Churrasco and Grill in West Lancashire

Totally packed full of drunk people at 5pm. No seats. Walked in then walked out.

Devastated to see this place is closed. Website gone, no one answering phone. Shut down? Food is divine here. We had the meatballs which came in a deep rich flavoursome sauce and the mushroom in garlic. Both dishes were well cooked. For main we had the tomahawk, one well done, one medium. The steaks were cooked to perfection, the peppercorn sauce was delicate and delicious and the skin on fries were tasty and crispy. The place itself is lovely, attention to detail for everything. Definitely worth a visit and will return

Food below average and expensive, the service was rushed and trying to eat food with your family and children while a group of workmen are sat on the next table swearing is not acceptable. The whole experience was not what i expected for the prices being charged so we Will not be returning.

Been here loads of times, but this time will be the last time! Service was awful, from the start bearing in mind there was one other table and ours being served. The place was empty! Drinks ordering, waitress didn’t know what a cider was. After ordering food, starters came wrong Ordered steaks to be told after eating starter that there was only one steak. Our mains all came at different times, two meals had to be sent back, not cooked properly. It was a absolute shambles, the only other table in there actually walked out they had had enough I went over to the manager and asked why had things go so wrong and with a giggle she says oh it’s not been good has it! 3hrs in all and we left never to return, it must be under new ownership with staff unable to run a restaurant Such a shame

Absolutely shocking service from start to finish. Been here a few times before but won’t be returning. Seats still had the last customers food everywhere, recieved starters before we even got our drinks, kids meal didn’t come with starters as requested and when it did it was wrong and they had to remake it. After an hour without mains we’d had enough (again, only one other table lucky enough to get their food and they had also complained) All but one waitress actually from this planet mentally who I felt sorry for. Why they take deposit and make it so hard to book/contact is beyond me. A very happy/smiley face at the end waiving the bill only makes me think customers and money doesn’t mean much here. Must have something else going on to stay in business.

Amazing service, looked after us so well

We visited the barnyard 2 weeks ago, on arrival it seemed 'different' to usual, the welcome wasn't the same, the overall ambience didn't seem the same. We used to visit the restaurant on special occasions (live 20/25 miles away) we loved the menu and the quality of the meals were always spot on, we always had to ring to book a table quite far in advance as it was always really busy, this particular evening i rang just on the off chance that they would be able to squeeze us in and luckily (i thought) for us they had space to fit us in. Now to the evening itself, we had our starters, in the past when visiting my partner had said that the Gambas Pil Pil was the best she had ever had and she was very much looking forward to it, however this was the first let down of the evening food wise, my partner said they were bland and tasteless, i had garlic bread, this was fine, expensive for what it was but i knew what i was ordering. The main course is really when the night just became a shambles, i ordered the fillet steak, when the steak arrived at the table i could smell a funny smell, i thought nothing of it however and waited for the other meals to be served before starting mine, on looking at my steak it didn't seem right, looked like it had been boiled rather than seared, i cut into the steak and quickly seen that it wasn't cooked to my liking (medium) the steak was rare so i sent it back, very quickly the steak was brought back to the table steaming hot, again looking like it had been boiled, again greeted by a very unpleasant pungent smell, i cut into the steak and took a bite, wow, it was absolutely rancid, sour, most definitely the worst thing i have ever tasted. We called the waitress over and explained what was wrong, she advised 'i can smell it from here' she took it away and returned with apologies and asked if i wanted the chef to make me a new one, i politely declined, i understandably felt ill and wasn't wanting to eat. Another lady approached the table I'm guessing she was the 'manager', she advised that something clearly wasn't right with the steak, she advised she had thoroughly inspected the other 5 steaks that mine was vacuum packed with and they all seemed fine, she advised all processes had been followed and there is no explanation for the poor steak, ill give you an explanation it was absolutely honking and tasted like it had been marinated in unflushed toilet water. She again offered me a replacement meal and i declined. The guests with me proceeded to finish their meals, the manager then returned to the table advised that she had taken my meal off the bill and said the chef has offered to buy me a drink for the inconvenience, never heard anything like it! Again i declined as i felt ill. As the minutes went by and my friends were finishing off their meals the awful smell just seemed to be lingering and i was getting paranoid thinking it was just me, there was nowhere the smell could be coming from, wait, the knife!! the knife i used to cut into the steak was still on the table, stupidly i picked it up and smelt it, wow it was rank, I'm heaving now writing this review, i called the manager over and i advised just how bad this experience was, i reiterated it really isn't good enough, the price you are paying for a steak in there is hitting £50 by the time you add a sauce and a side, there really is no excuse. I invited her to smell the knife and she did, the face she pulled was a picture, she even wiped it on her nose by accident (quite amusing). She said something isn't right and she will look into the processes again, i advised that isn't good enough and i want something doing now, she could see i was visibly ill the colour had drained out me, her response was 'i don't know what you want me say, would you like a glass of tap water' this was the final straw for me, absolutely embarrassing response and an awful example of how to deal with the situation. In my opinion the whole tables bill should have been wiped but this obviously never happened. On reflection the lovely staff that used to welcome you when you arrived, to the lovely meals, this is clearly a thing of the past, a change of ownership and management has really affected what was a fantastic restaurant, its such a shame. Please AVOID for your own sake, spend your money elsewhere.

Great wagyu burger, Malbec the same .. not many people today

Never tried this restaurant before so thought we would treat ourselves, service from girls and lady was good, we tried three cocktails all excellent ordered a bottle of Malbec mid range £25 seemed fine for price. Husband had a starter meatballs which were really good, I ordered lamb shank he ordered belly pork, we asked for portion of triple cooked chips, belly pork fine but crackling was soggy under done, potatoes were far too hard and sharp noticed that no one was eating theirs either hence ordering chips, chips were inedible very thin almost flat and upon pinching fingers on one I was left with grease on both my fingers so immediately sent them back,triple cooked doesn’t mean greasy, portions sizes were large definitely didn’t scrimp, my lamb fell apart so all in all we were happy ish, we ordered pudding and so as we could treat ourselves to a liquor coffee after pudding we attempted to drink the last of our wine. I had the last glass and my last mouthful was REPULSIVE it was full of some type of sediment !!! (See photos). It was half an inch thick in the bottom of my glass, I am nearly 70 years old and have had corked wine before but never had this amount of sediment in a glass before AND it was a SCREW TOP ! Immediately showed lady at counter and asked what it was and it taken off bill. Manager came over to our table and said there was nothing wrong with the wine and we should pay for it ! Talk about shocked so obviously refused so he insisted we at least pay half even though I assured him that had we seen what was at the bottom of that bottle we would not have drunk it at all (the thought even now makes me feel ugh ) but as we are not used to being treated like this we paid half and I brought the bottle home as proof. Therefore my message is check wine thoroughly and only 3 stars review

Went here for food recently and the food was decent quality. Between the four of us we ordered two steaks, the pork belly and the wagu burger. Starters were served fairly quickly, but felt the time between starters and mains was a bit too long - other than this though, it was a pleasant visit.

Top notch! I have been consistently astounded by this outlet, which is run by a dedicated couple, Sheryl and Karim. The quality of my steak was second to none. This culminates a balance of fresh seasonings and flavours. On my second visit, I enjoyed fish and chips. Absolutely gorgeous! Great service from a student (Sam) and the team. Please don't take my word for it. Come along and try for yourself!

Family friendly, great atmosphere - we did ask for a few amendments to our meal which weren’t done but aside from that, the food was lovely, presentation was great, the restaurant itself is really well decorated and the staff were friendly and approachable. Would definitely come back again.

Rib eye steak was spot on, cooked exactly how I wanted it. Staff were all very accommodating. Easily the best steak In ormskirk area.

Amazing food, great staff and a great atmosphere

Went hear for the first time for husband birthday. Food was amazing. I eat steak a lot and it was perfect. I had sirloin and husband Fillet. Compliments to the chef.

Second time at the barnyard and believe me Cheryl and her team really do go the extra mile. Food again was outstanding, hospitality second to none, and the menu has something for everyone. A big 10 out of 10 from Graham and Sharon, see you soon

Visited yesterday, such a friendly place, dog friendly too. Nothing was too much trouble. Food looked amazing only had a snack but would definitely return for a meal.

FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Came to this place after having a full hip replacement and I called them up and asked them do they allow dogs. They informed me because they're quiet. I can bring my tiny dog in. I must say the customer service was lovely, and the food was amazing. Very friendly staff in a tiny little alleyway situated right at the back of a big food chain Wetherspoons. I definitely made the right choice coming to this place. I ordered fish and chips and I must say it's one of the best fish and chips I've ever tasted. I can definitely recommend this to anybody who wants to feel welcome and taste delicious, succulent food at a reasonable price.

Just a slight dip in the service between starters and mains where we had to ask if we had been forgotten about, along with an occasional cold draft from behind which is why I dropped a star. However, staff were lovely and also apologetic for the mistake, but most of all, the food was delicious I would recommend

So happy I booked this place, the food here is outstanding! Had the steak with dauphinoise potatoes and sauteed broccoli ( highly recommend these sides!) And husband has the fish and chips. All in all a very good restaurant with amazing service.

Shocking, absolute car crash. Cold food Uncooked, food, overcooked, steaks had to make staff clear the table constantly how to pre-order your food Party of, nine Which they managed to get a lot wrong and had to wait over an hour before we saw anything. Management failed to resolve issues adequately. Then the owner came out rude and obnoxious and just blame the chef. as we have eaten at this restaurant a few times before and never had an issue I asked if it had been taken over recently and the owner replied yes.

Just had a fantastic meal at the barnyard. The staff from the minute you walking in till you walk out was fantastic so friendly and help full. Just had to try the Tommy hawk steak cooked to perfection. One would of done the 2 of us, so doggy bag it was. Thanks guys we will be back

Barnyard brings such a great array of delicious meats to the table, that it's hard to not be excited while there. The staff here are all wonderful, and I give major props to both of the servers who were not only patient with us, but also quick to answer any queries we had with the upmost precision. The food recommendations were also spot on, and I can 100% recommend anyone who enjoys a good burger do try this place out! The cocktails, while not fantastic, did pair nicely with the atmosphere and food. Also, definitely worth trying to make a reservation indoors, as it can be quite cold outdoors despite the nice attempt at keeping it warm outside with heat lamps.

I have just been here tonight for a family meal aa wanted to treat them as I have just recently been made redundant and my family have been amazing so wanted to show my appreciation. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile from a lovely lady called Lisa who has the same name as me so we shook hands. The service and food was excellent all the way through then on leaving gave my new friend Lisa a huge hug. What an amazing lovely woman. Please give a big shout out to Lisa! We will be back!

Had a little family meal there was 5 of us, we all enjoyed the food, Tina my wife and Daughter eat there for lunch quite often, it first time I been, very impressed with decor and menu. We all had something different both in starters and main meals.

We revisited after a great Christmas get together with 12 people. The restaurant was quiet, we were sat outside with a great warming lamp,all good. Food was dreadful. Boiled prawns with a flavored tin of tomatoes dressed up as gambas pil pil, bland bland bland. Rib eye was over cooked and not really a rib eye but I was hungry. Sent it back and ate the chips with the pink peppercorn sauce which was really a peppercorn sauce with no pinkness about it. To be fair, they did agree the steak was below par and knocked if off the bill I wouldn't return or recommend

I would give this roast a miss . The beef was tough , reheated roast potatoes and the veg obviously the end of day .. I would not serve this to a dog.. this was a second opportunity .. never again for this business

We really enjoyed the food that we were served. Unfortunately the service was not great. I had spotted a creme brulee on the menu and was looking forward to getting it. We asked for the dessert menu when our plates were cleared. However, 25 minutes later we still had not been given it or asked if we wanted any other drinks. There was only about 7 other tables and it was a fairly quiet Thursday night. We checked and could see the staff at the bar chatting. After another 5 minutes we sadly abandoned the dessert paid and went to marks and spencer instead.

What can I say. Everything spot on. Arrived on time and table ready. Drinks order taken and well remembered by staff " love eating here" Food and service cant fault. Will always reccomend this pkace. Staff are So friendly and attentive to service. Keep doing what you do so well...

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We brought a birthday cake for a 50th and they were more than happy to bring that out for us. The food was absolutely wonderful and well priced. Such a lovely atmosphere in such a small restaurant, couldn’t recommend enough!

We visited again today for a family meal and once again we were not disappointed. We had a selection of children’s meals, Sunday roasts, steak and fish all of which were cooked perfectly and served with great hospitality. A lovely Sunday lunch.

My Father treated myself and my Brother to a meal at the Barnyard last night. I have to say, it was absolutely first class! Starters included, Buffalo Chicken Wings, Popcorn Shrimp and Scallops with Risotto. For mains my dad had a Lamb Shank which looked beautiful, the meat fell off the bone. The star of the show shared by myself and my brother was the Tomahawk (36oz). Cooked medium. It was one of the best steaks I have tasted in a while. I believe the meat is supplied by Scott's of Ormskirk (another class act). If I had one criticism it would be the the lack of extras that are included with the Tomahawk. It was served with 1 Onion Ring and half a dozen Cherry Tomatoes. We had to order Fries, Onion Rings and Steak Sauces separately adding a further £16.00 to the price of the Tomahawk £60.00. £76.00 for 2 I find a bit steep! Miller & Carter include, Fries, Onion Loaf, Steak Sauce and Fries to their Tomahawk for the same price. That said, I wasn't paying 👌 First class meal and service. Well done Barnyard. We as a family of four have just been for tea and the food was absolutely beautiful. Our daughter is currently living in ormskirk as at edgehill University so we come over regularly to visit and sample all the different restaurants. This one is certainly our favourite so far. Visited on Sat 13th Nov. We had a fantastic meal. Proper cooked food. The tempura sea-bass starter was excellent and my main meal of slow-roasted belly pork was delicious. I am told the mac n cheese was great as well.

Booked a table for 3 of us. The whole experience from start to finish was perfect!! Friendly welcome and great service. The food was delicious, we all enjoyed everything and some. Look forward to our return!
