Barnams Ice Cream in Belfast

Benn going here for years. Food was great. When I went to pay they had added additional cost. I asked why. The girl said that is a normal charge and the till added it. I explained the item on the menu was £6.50 for goujons and chips. But they charged £6:50 plus £2.50 for a small chip. I had to show her the menu. She said the chips were extra. I had to explain again that it was £6.50 for the meal on the menu which clearly stated goujons AND chips. She said she has always applied the charge that way and that she had been working there for a year. I explained that I had been going there for years. She was extremely rude, uncaring and very wrong. Eventually gave me back what she owed but the rudeness was too much. How many others have had this additional charge, who knows. It's a scam. Will never be back unfortunately

I have enjoyed the light breakfasts here in Barnams for years, eggs on toast, ommlettes etc. But holy heavens the scaffolding is a nightmare.....and has continued to be so. Ok if there is building work to be done or whatever is taking place, but honestly it is ruining the soul of this ice cream parlour. Over time the enterance of the cafe has all but disappeared behind the scaffolding. I feel for the owner, it cant be good for business....the place has become so quiet.

Inaugural visit today. Fabulous club sandwich, coffee, crepe and waffle. I'm a bit particular on details.... I like a 2 shot coffee, hubby takes 2. I wanted my sandwich cut in 2 not 4, and drinks at the same time as the food. Much respect to our Server Gaby who got all instructions spot on. Nice one Gaby. You're a keeper. Food was Great quality. Great atmosphere. Server's were super keen and very attentive. We'll be back.

I’m a regular visitor. Great ice cream and milkshakes. Good coffee. Excellent service. A great shop to visit for families.

Repugnante, mugriento y sucio son las únicas palabras que tengo para describir a Barnams. Barnams Cafe es una atracción de larga data en Lisburn Road, que ha ido cuesta abajo constantemente. Primero diré que el servicio es pésimo. Trabajadores hostiles y poco profesionales detrás del mostrador. Sin embargo, estaba más consternado por la falta de higiene. Las mesas estaban sucias y no se limpiaban entre los clientes que se sentaban. Esto es completamente insalubre en circunstancias normales, no importa en la pandemia del virus corona. Aunque estaba claro que la pandemia no podía estar más lejos de la mente de Barnams. No tenían un método de "seguimiento y localización" y muy pocos arreglos de distanciamiento social. Aunque, lo que realmente me indignó fue cuando recibí mi bebida. A lo largo de las bebidas de mi amigo y yo había docenas de moscas. Estaba completamente horrorizado, ya que seguramente esto es una violación a la salud pública. Ciertamente nunca volveré a esta vergüenza de café y nunca se lo recomendaré a nadie.

This is my go to place for a fry. The food is great and it's such a friendly spot. Great service! There's some high and mighty eateries in Belfast that think very highly of themselves and they could learn a lot about how to treat your customers from this place. Highly recommended for breakfast! It's an absolute pleasure visiting this place

I have been in and out of this place for years for almost 25 years as I grew up near by. I was in tonight and explained to a young lad who was working that my daughter had a pistachio nut allergy and would be mind be extra careful as there was pistachio ice cream present. The young lad was so obliging and went and actually got a fresh tub of the selected ice cream... when doing so a man whom I assume was the owner came in and inquired in full ear shot of mewhy he was doing this.. The man was soo hostile and asked .... is it you who has the allergy... we can never guarantee... Sensing that either this man was having a bad day or downright rude, I decided not to debate about the importance of what the young lad had the foresight to do and just stated I was well aware of issues surrounding allergies.. Pity as I went in to actually give local business some local trade.. Very disappointing

The cafe is a bit far from the city centre so mostly you see the local crowd at the Los place. It also serves the ice-cream for your dogs so quite handy if you're to drive down their with your pet(s). You also get to see families visiting the place so good place to bring young kids with you. I've had the Belgian waffle with ice-cream and felt that the taste is more or less would have to be acquired. The service albeit very polite and friendly was a bit time consuming when we visited it so you might wanna factor that in if you're in haste. Worth visiting if you're into ice-cream waffles.

What has happened Barnam's ice cream? Coming here for years but the ice cream on last two visits tastes very synthetic, nothing like the Barnams of old.

Always like their various ice cream selection from the on display tubs. I like to have a scoop of strawberry with the bits in it and rum and raisin. Mmmmmh! Guess what? They now stock doggy ice cream,lollies and yogurts. Out side in the seated area is pet friendly. They ajso now serve coffee,tea sandwiches,rolls,soup and stew. Friendly place and reasonably priced. I paid about 2.75 for two scoop tub. Recommended.

Been here a few times. This time I got rum and raisin and apple and cinnamon ice cream. Really good scoops and so yummy. Spoke to friendly owner. And young girl serving is so nice. At 1.40 per scoop and 5pence for flavouring. Bill was 2.85. Well worth it. Will be back.

Got the warm waffle with kinder chocolate sauce and a large scoop of oreo ice cream and it was soso delicious and yummy I will definitely be back!!

Fancied a carry out two scoop tub. Tried the other nearby dearer places but first visit here. I noticed they are serving breakfasts and hot food. But it stops early. I asked for rum and raisin,and a strawberry scoop also. The pleasant young waitress asked me if I wanted toppings? So I said just strawberry sauce. The tub was filled with two very big scoops of ice cream but just a little sauce. It is 1.40 per scoop I think. But unbelievably I was charged 15 pence for the sauce. The young girl was embarrassed she had to charge. The ice cream was fine with lots of raisins. Myself and my dog enjoyed it.(Not The raisins,off course which are bad for dogs.) I will be back for more,less the sauce.

Went here for a tasty treat after dinner. It wasn’t overly busy which was great, order a sundae and went to our table, which was dirty and had dishes on it. Our food was brought down and the waitress just left it on the table without checking the table. There was no napkins and the sundae was dribbling all down the sides and there was no plate for that either! I had to request the server to clean the table for us, as she was about to walk away. The sundae was not as described on the board, which was a shame. I can’t see me rushing back to it anytime soon regrettably as it used to do great sundaes

The most lovely guy served myself and my two friends. Offered samples, chatted away and even turned on a heater for us upstairs while it was quite cold and we were sitting in. 10/10 customer service. Made my day.
