Excellent, lovely, tasty hot fish and chips cooked to perfection and a great portion

My grandsons brought fish & chips in for lunch & they were delicious 😋

A brilliant experience for my family and I. The fish and chips were tasty, hot, fresh and quickly brought to the table. The service was very friendly. At least £20 cheaper than a certain other dine in fish and chip restaurant in Stratford with portion sizes on the generous side. The mini fish and ships was plenty for me. Thanks to all at Barnabys, we look forward to visiting you again.

The haddock is massive and delicious. The staff is friendly. The place has plenty seating areas indoor and outdoo. Halal sign at the front.

Amazing fish and chips. You could tell it was all cooked to order. The curry sauce was really nice, and I found the portion sizes just right. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Typical Fish & Chips don't look like great cuisine, but surely one of the best I've eaten and very very plentiful.

Mid afternoon meal on a lovely Autumn day in Stratford..we ordered sausage chips x2..sat outside , best chips and sausage meal ever! Chips were perfectly cooked, hot, no sign of any grease, £6.50. Will definitely come back.

Ok im not fun of fish and I never eat one but one time me and my family stopped there and OMG !!!! Best fish I eat in my entire life. Even my children eat all the plates- they don’t like fish:) I was surprised as my son wasn’t to go back there just to eat there again . Definitely we will be back!!!! Cash only and a cash machine inside your shop in 2024 is like saying "We dodge tax, and you lot get to help with that" Reported to HMRC, looking forward to seeing that follow up. Take card, pay your dues and stop being dirty thieves.

The waiters are friendly, efficient and lovely. Ordered HADDOCK & CHIPS and salad.

Abominable service. They was very rude to me despite my pleas and explained I have brain damage from surgeries. There was no telling them. I will never go there again. Shame on them!! Not wheelchair accessible !

Delicious cod and chips. The portions were very generous for the price and the staff were very friendly. Great location overlooking the gardens and river. We got to enjoy some live music being played on the green by some street performers. Will definitely come back again!

Expensive for what it is. I felt all they care about is money as the food is over priced for the quality, cash only in 2024 but they have an atm machine to make you pay cash. Very greasy chips. Fish was like jelly and the batter was like cake. Claim to be the best in town. If you want the best go to clopton catch. I’ve had worse but I’ve definitely had better.

I could have been posting a review about the food today, however whilst I was standing at the door, well before the closing time of 7pm, we were rudely shouted at by a man in the queue telling us that the shop was closing and we needed to leave. Bearing in mind, like I previously said, it was well before the closing time of 7pm on Sunday and it was only the back two of us that were rudely told to leave. The owner couldn't even be bothered to come up to us and explain and/or apologise himself. I cannot believe this place is refusing customers before closing time, and so rudely too. They had no respect for us customers and let's just say that after looking at these reviews I dodged a bullet. Glad I didn't get the opportunity to give this place my money and time. Truly awful, unprofessional and just downright disrespectful. People, spend your time and money elsewhere, maybe somewhere where the staff and owners actually respect their clientele who pay their bills and keep them open.

We sat outside in the sunshine. Large umbrellas and music being played in the grounds opposite. Lovely huge haddock.

In 1995 the chips were crispy, the fish... delish. Sadly all good things... the haddock was ok, very little meat, lots of skin & batter - but both it and the chips were soggy in a lake of oil on the plate.

Perfectly battered cod fish and chips! This is a great Halal option in Stratford-upon-avon if you are feeling fish and chips. Staff were also very friendly and helpful. This was probably the best fish and chips I've had. The batter was crunchy while the fish was fresh and flakey. Highly recommend if you are visiting Stratford or happen to pass by!

If you are after an old style fish & chips restaurant, classic seating and condiments, then this is your place. We ordered Haddock, chips and mushy peas and everything was incredibly cooked. Not sure why there's bad reviews for oily fish or bad service as there isn't a single hint of this. Fish was beautifully cooked, fresh, tasty and the batter was light, I really don't get on with beerbatter or heavy batter. It was beautifully cooked. Little bit of lemon on there and my gosh, this is probably the best fish and chips I've enjoyed in a restaurant. Chips were fluffy and if you like the batter bits, they chuck that in as well. Takeaway is slightly cheaper and separate service so for those just wanting to take away, then they offer that as well. Great food, great service and for those moaning about cash only, there is literally a FREE cash machine next to the till..... Thanks for the food guys and don't worry, I won't be doing some two point youtube video talking utter nonsense

We popped in 7th July , never been so 🤮 , they must cook the fish in same oil as chips , as I have a fish allergy , 3 days of 🤮🤢 so please be careful .

Food was disgusting & oily, fish and chips both cooked with very old oil and extremely inedible. Skin on the fish and everything tastes rancid. Not worth your £13 or even £0.01

Honestly, I can't remember this size of fish for ages. Great taste and really big portions. Excellent service as well. It's a must if you visit the city.

Extremely friendly and welcoming atmosphere with a team of ravishingly good looking men slinging the best Fish n Chips I’ve had. The Haddock and Chips was gigantic— I didn’t realize I was ordering the entire ocean! My 2 girlfriends and I split one order. Very crispy, very high quality— chef’s kiss! Highly recommend Barnaby’s, and can’t wait to go back.

Stale food, selling some dirty fish for premium Price, rude staff thought it was funny spraying cleaning products on the table whilst I was eatting! Slow service took 35 mins to be served the chap behind the till was using his hands without gloves and touching the fresh food.

Fish was uncooked and raw, the batter they used had a strong stench coming from it like it was a rotten fish 🐟, I ordered a large cod and chips instead I was given a small tray because they had ran out of large boxes!

Fantastic dinner with a large school group, kept everyone very happy. Quality fish, scampi and chicken nuggets, but the chips and mushy peas were the stars.

Strange way of having a service. One queue you order and then you have to go to the till to pay with the order. When it would make sense to just do it all in one. The fish wasn’t the best. Nothing worse than wet fish that is then battered. Curry sauce very thin and runny.

Food lovely staff not great but one thing I noticed was alot of people was leaving alot of fish and chips on plates then I realised why. They have they put vinegar on tables and next to it is the Sugar so looks like salt and vinegar. I had to stop an elderly lady making this mistake i looked at all tables and they gad sugar next to vinegar. I'd recommend they use sachets for sugar and just have salt sellers and vinegar on table. The food is lovely but my rating is 3 for overall service wasn't great either.

This is under NEW OWNERSHIP. Nothing like before. Sorry to say I had fish and chips £11.50 + curry sauce, Not Cheap, fish was so small, all batter little fish, chips looked like they had been cooked a few times and soaked in viniger. Worse fish & chips and most expensive, I have ever had I will not go back.

Can not provide a detailed comment as we only had a cup of tea and a plate of chips each. What I can say is the service blew us away, it was fantastic. Cup of tea was spot on. The chips are the best we have had whilst on holiday in the UK. Enjoyed sitting outside in the sun listening to a busker in the park over the road.

Pleasant staff that were very tentative and friendly. Food was a little pricey but worth it in my opinion ( had the mini fish and chips ) few gnats in the door when we went in but it is near a river so don't let that put you off. They also didn't pass comment on my son having a happy meal in there ( as he's a bit fussy ) which was noticed and greatly appreciated. Will definitely be coming back.

Unfortunately, it's not a good experience for me. The chip's tasted parculiar, like the oil is not hot enough to cook them, so they had an uncooked taste to them with a cold film of oil. The sausage was edible with soft flimsy batter. The lad did not seem to be listening when I gave the order, to pre-occupied in what colleagues were saying. Asked for battered jumbo sausage and small chips. He asked if I wanted salt and vinegar, I said just loads of vinegar. Got a full tray of chips (fine if that's their small). Proceeded to place a small none battered sausage. I said no its battered I asked for and is that your jumbo sausage. He said that is the only size. Then asked again if I wanted salt and vinegar and proceeded to put small splash of vinegar. Got charged £5 Threw a chip to a pigeon, which pecked it and then left it, stood there looking at me, as if to say that's nasty. I threw the entire tray of chips away (I hate wasting food). March 2024

Had fish & chips, batter was soggy & fish was wet, the only good it was the chips were good. If looking for traditional fish & chips you're out of luck, their cooked in oil not fat (dripping) to be honest I'd rather go hungry than use again

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Barnaby’s Fish Restaurant in Stratford upon Avon during my trip to England, sponsored by Cambridge. As a traveler from Florida, I was looking for a local dining experience and Barnaby’s did not disappoint. The food was to-go, but the quality was top-notch. The owner generously included a complimentary serving of halloumi fries and a soda with my order, which was a delightful surprise. The portion sizes were generous and the prices were very affordable, providing excellent value for money. The food itself was fantastic. The flavors were well-balanced and the ingredients tasted fresh. The halloumi fries were a particular highlight - crispy on the outside, soft and cheesy on the inside. Beyond the food, what made the experience truly memorable was the warm hospitality. I had the opportunity to chat with the owner for a while. His passion for providing a great dining experience was evident and added a personal touch to my visit. Barnaby’s Fish Restaurant offers not just great food, but also a welcoming atmosphere. It’s a must-visit if you’re in Stratford upon Avon. I’m already looking forward to my next visit! Thank you!

Ordered takeaway chips at a cost of £3:50, although they were nice the portion was ridiculously small. Plus they don’t take card payments which seems odd for a business this day and age ? Wouldn’t buy from there again felt like a rip off.

Repeatedly says "No orders" despite being able to place an online order. Three days running. Placed an order and paid for it in the afternoon for it to be delivered in the evening. The order was later cancelled without reason. Didn't have the decency to call to explain this.

The last two times I’ve been there to eat, I had to wait more than 20 minutes for a single plate of chips, even while it was very quiet and other customers had their bigger food orders within minutes. They also charge £4.50 for a regular chips which is far too much.

A takeaway or eating in . Takeaway tonight. All cooked fresh , delicious. There are a lot of complaints about cash only, but it's their business, so go with it. And about Fish and chips not being a cheap meal, have a thought for the trawler men who risk a lot to put the fish in the shops.

Decent traditional chippie, takeaway or sit in. We ate in and couldn't fault the food. We ordered scampi and chips and small cod and chips. Ordered at counter and served to table. Marked atmosphere less than 5 but at the end of the day it's a chip shop so we weren't visiting for the ambience! That said the football was on so the atmosphere was too bad either.

The fried cod was just ok. The crust was not very crunchy, and it was low on flavor. The chips were solid. We ordered milkshakes that never arrived, possibly due to an ordering system that appears to be pretty inefficient. The staff was friendly and got us our shakes quickly after being alerted to the error. However, despite them clearly being freshly made, they were somehow warm. I think the only reason they get any business is due to their prime location next to the river.

Always go to Barnabys when in Stratford. The food is pretty good & the staff are always sound 🔊..
