I honestly had the most delicious plate of wholesome food. I had a cheesy jacket potato with a selection of salads and Katy brought me a small dish of a date and cashew salad that was to die for. Jacket potatoes simple though they are have to be done right..and this one was! My friend had a delicious bowl of carrot and coriander soup. Perfect. Thank you!

Called in out of pure curiosity and as I was a bit peckish thought I'd try the soup - so warming and flavoursome and this came with a buttered toasted panini - such good value. Relaxed atmosphere with a very welcoming couple of staff (one of whom was the owner's daughter) who couldn't do enough to accommodate me. A lot of events going on too - looking forward to exploring this more. Such a great wee find 👍 😀

Enjoyed a very nice lunchtime welcome yesterday (complementary Christmas sherry on arrival!) at Newport's own independent arts centre with vegan restaurant, Barnabas Arts House. Friendly lady who looked after our gang ran up and down to the upper gallery making sure we had everything we wanted. My nut roast, peas, mash, cranberry sauce and gravy are pictured here towards the end of their short lives. We were nice and warm amid the artworks with Christmas music playing. Absolutely great!

Such a fantastic vibe. Really warm welcome from Mary in the cafe and delicious home cooked vegetarian and vegan food. Dhal and cobbler so tasty and new dishes to try each time. Thanks to Jan for making this such a lovely place to visit. Well worth a trip. And the picture framing is second to none as well.

Discovered this place today, it's only a 4 minute walk from the Passport office in Newport. We were made to feel really welcome and the food coffee and cake was amazing and so cheap!! We also really enjoyed the photographic exhibition, in all we were here for ages and never felt any pressure to move on. Highly recommended as a great place to visit, eat, drink and be inspired.

What a find! I used Google to locate a breakfast between Cardiff and Clevedon as we didn't want to go into the city and it did not disappoint. It was busy with cyclists having coffee and pastries, locals buying bread and friends meeting up. The food was superb. We had bacon in freshly baked rolls and all took away pastries or sweet treats. My brioche bread and butter slice was chuffing awesome! It's obviously very well frequented by people who live locally. What an asset!

Beautiful light lunch, and loose lea. Lovely feel and atmosphere, calming music, really welcoming staff. Ordered a tea, delighted it was loose leaf, and a cheese and ham croissant. Giid price, and croissant came with a fresh side salad, crisps and homemade dip. Food really fresh, lovely atmosphere and good service. Would definitely recommend, a gem.

I was looking forward to visit this place for quite some time and finally the day has come. I was very excited to visit as heard many good opinions about the place. We've made reservations for Sunday lunch time as heard there is always busy however from first steps in we saw that there was only one more table taken apart ours. We've been sat down to a very wobbly table however before we notice it there was no one on the floor to speak about it so we decided to change it to next one. When member of the staff show up we informed they why we do that and they just say "it's fine" and walked away. We ordered 3 mains. Food was average which was big disappointment as I was expecting much more from such a brand like Mercure. During the meal we finished our drinks but there was no one from the staff to ask for another round. We get desserts, fudge cake and cheese cake which was just average defrosted cakes like in most pubs. It is really a shame that this visit went down the drain as the decor is really nice and I was hoping to have my to go place in there.
