We stopped here for lunch, what a find. We sat outside and what a beautiful view this place has. It's so worth the visit to just look out to the sea. Food was very nice, I would highly recommend. The inside looked lovely and the toilets were clean. Most importantly it was dog friendly.

The campsite is lovely, with beautiful views . It has the best campsite showers for ladies I've experienced, but much less so for men sadly. They really need be the same standard as the newly ladies showers. The wifi does not stretch to further pitches . The restaurant and bar look lovely , clean and cosy but pricey. The shop is nice and has lovely gifts. We did try to have an afternoon drink at the Bothy to enjoy the fire as it was a cold day today but the time we were told the bar was opening was incorrect and we stood In the freezing cold hail stones outside while the staff were inside even though the bar was meant to open at 4 ( stated on the door) We gave up and went back to van feeling disappointed and cold. We just wanted to experience the cosy bar fire and a beer as all the camps we stay at don't have these facilities . We could have come back , but after being made to stand out in the cold , we didn't bother. It Is a really lovely campsite but it feels the food and drink side is maybe more for locals and passing trade than campers.

Had a fantastic 2 days here, lovely site, facilities kept clean, perfect location to visit Holy Island. You can select your pitch when booking which I like. Staff were very attentive and helpful, a lovely place and we will be back, thank you.

We never got to eat here. We waited 10 minutes. Staff kept coming past but made no effort to offer us a table or apologise. Eventually they seated the person in front of us but left us waiting. Finally we were told we would have to sit inside. It was a beautiful day and we had our dog with us. Pointed out there were two spare tables but we could not have one. We left and will not return

Fantastic location with great views of Lindisfarne. Great looking restaurant with friendly staff. I've been before and it's a quality café with reasonable prices. However I got the small breakfast this morning which was well cooked and what seemed to be quality ingredients. There were 6 other people in the café and at least 3 waitresses. Why then was I served a plate of cold food? Disappointed 😬

Stopped here for a light lunch after cycling to Lindisfarne and back. Hungry! It was busy but tables were free. We loitered outside by the door for about ten minutes whilst staff walked past us numerous times without saying a word. No, "we'll ust be few minutes" etc. Pretty rude given that these people work in "Hospitality". Food was superb. The "fish finger" sandwich wasn't that at all! It was beautifully thick, fish goujons served in lovely soft baguette! Good coffee and service once inside. Annoying!

Stopped in for the food, which was excellent all around and worth the price. Sadly however, a member of our party had an allergy and was made physically very sick and felt their throat closing slightly less than half an hour after eating here, due to what can only be cross contamination, as their allergy is fish and they ordered a vegan meal for safety after informing staff of their allergy. We never have issue eating fish at the same table, which we did on this occasion and other nights on our trip with no problems, so the issue can only be contamination of the vegan dish in the cooking of it. It's a real shame, as we all agreed the food was delicious and would happily rate 5 stars and stop again, but this sadly sullied our experience. I tried to privately address this issue on their behalf, but my email hasn't had a response, so thought I'd leave a public review to warn people of the risks and to be extra careful if dining here with an allergy.

After 10 minutes stood at the door we left and went to the Lindesfarne inn at the end of the road where we were welcomed immediately and offered to sit anywhere we liked. No one from the site came to see us on arrival (pitch.h09,)we could have been anyone parking up , during the whole stay we saw no one from the barn campsite . That to me is a big let down in politeness of the whole site We witnessed nearly every person staying on site , pouring their grey waste down the elson point ONLY.. this should be addressed ,and clearly stated ,as it is not clear that it is not ONLY drive over grey waste but can empty all grey waste containers . Great location, lovely facilities, cafe is a really attractive barn conversion. The food and drinks were really nice and if my review was limited to the above it would be 4 or 5 stars. Well what can I say about this place! I had been wanting to try it for a while, never again!! We arrived with our 2 dogs and as we walked onto the outside area they were 2 billboards both saying to wait at them to be seated. We waited for at least 5 mins, nobody came to us so I went inside while my partner still waited at the billboards with the dogs. As I entered I was asked if I had been seated as they operate table service system. I said I had not been seated and was asked to go and wait and somebody would come and seat us straight away. So once again we waited and waited while other people just walked past us. At this point I also have to mention that the establishment was not busy and a waitress was clearing outside tables and seen us waiting. After 15 minutes of waiting we gave up and left and never to return.

Beautiful views but terrible, v expensive food. I had the (dry) roasted pork sandwich which tasted like it had come from a packet for £15 and my husband had the fish finger sandwich which was tasteless and small. Once he’d added a v small bowl of chips it was £15.50. Hopefully management looks into this and either reviews it’s prices or the quality of food- somethings got to give!

Our experience is that the place has such a great view and position that the staff don't have to bother with customer service. Very disappointing. Location has beautiful scenery over to Holy Island. The cafe is good but the restaurant and bar are only open Thurs-Sat evenings. The pitches at the top of the site are separated by a wall from some kind of truck loading facility that is extremely noisy from early morning until late at night accompanied by loud foul language from the people using it as well as them peering over the wall into vans. One of our group was disabled and telephoned ahead of booking to check that it would be accessible for her needs and was assured it was and her pitch would be next to the facilities. In fact the site wasn’t in any way suitable for people with reduced mobility. The huge gate to the toilets and cafe area was sprung so that opening it from a mobility scooter, a wheelchair or even a walking aid was impossible and the toilets were unusable if not fully mobile and additionally had steps to access them. The new shower block had a large shower with an alarm cord that was not connected. This was called a ‘family room’ but looked like it was an unfinished disabled accessible shower room. The floors throughout all the showers were very slippery when wet with no grab handles anywhere and nowhere to put washing gear whilst in the shower. The open chemical disposal point was situated around 2 meters from my pitch, was not covered and did not have a flush. The smell was not nice! There was a drinking water tap and grille next to this that several people used to empty grey waste and to flush out their containers. This could have been a brilliant stay if more thought had been given to making the site accessible for all or at least very clear in the website information that it was not. The stay was spoiled having our friend constantly struggle to maintain some dignity for the most basic tasks.
Margaret Richens . 2024-07-12

Beautiful scenery and location, but obviously the restaurant is the priority and not the campsite in spite of the high pitch fees. Despite phoning to double check accessibility (having limited mobility) even though the restaurant boasts wheelchair access, the rest of the site is most definitely not. The accessible toilet is IN the restaurant which closes at 4.30pm some afternoons, and therefore had limited access. Was informed I could access it early morning and evenings as staff would be on site, but this only happened once and subsequent visits to the office were futile as always unattended. There is no accessible shower even in the supposedly ‘new’ shower block. The large cubical, designated ‘family shower’ is (accessed via a step).. is kitted out with disabled pull cord (not connected) so the intention is there, but no grab bars, or hook for clothes and floor extremely slippy. Had to borrow a chair from the restaurant and have somebody on call just to have showers during a 3 day stay. Dignity is lost when somebody has to hover around a toilet /shower in case I needed assistance. Shower facility has been like this for months apparently and funnily enough nobody has ever complained or requested accessible facilities? They did pin back the big gate so I could get my scooter through and that was it. When challenged was told the person I spoken to had been sacked… I was offered a refund to go elsewhere but was travelling as a part of a group doing the Northumberland 250. This is the only site I have ever come across that does not have accessibility for all. What a crying shame.Don’t even mention about the noise and foul language from directly behind the wall in the ‘lorry park’ from before 7am to after 9pm! (This is not Farm noise! ) Not even a good breakfast could make up for it. So very disappointed ☹️

Great location for visiting Lindisfarne with stunning views and good walking and cycling opportunities. But our experience of this expensive campsite was disappointing. There are no Disabled facilities, despite being told there were and being allocated a pitch close to them! Secondly, there was loud and foul language from the adjacent Truck stop early morning and late into the night. We also weren't impressed with the Open ELSAN which is between 2 of the pitches. The shower facilities are modern with spacious cubicles, but the floor is extremely slippy when wet and the drains seemed to block easily. We won't be returning.

Can't comment on the accommodation as we only went there for a meal. The causeway to/from Lindisfarne was underwater from an early time so we left around midday and stopped at The Barn on the way back. What a lovely place, great views, clean, and full of character. The food was expensive but your tears of despair will turn to tears of joy when you eat it. I had a venison and bacon burger which tasted as good as it looked - I will NEVER take a photo of my food, so take my word for it! The Mrs had the seafood platter which made me feel ill to look at (there are only 2 things I hate and the taste of seafood is both of them) but she reckoned it was the best meal of that type she'd ever had, and the "Posh Chips" with parmesan and truffle oil were the perfect side. Being in that location everything is caught fresh locally. The staff were lovely and were attentive without being overbearing. As you head out to Holy Island, The Barn is easy to miss as it's on the outside of bend so your vision is pulled away from it by the road, so it may not register as a place to eat. But if you discount it you'll be missing out.

The ‘croque monsieur’ was unlike any I’ve had elsewhere, bizarre! Pretty amateur overall, we wouldn’t go back. Shame, it could be amazing. Also, a bit off-putting that the dog that belongs to the cafe was allowed to wander around and poop on the lawn and no-one cleaned it up. I booked two nights camping last weekend here so I could walk around Lindisfarne from 4am on the Saturday and come back in the Evening, I walked 18 miles that day and the campsite was very comfortable with the showers, toilets, the pitches and drinking water tap. The camping wasn't expensive, the two meals I had were a bit expensive but very posh. I had haddock and chips the first night, with Ginger and rhubarb cheesecake for desert and I had red deer plus a large cheese board the second night. The red deer was tender enough but not too bloody. There was a nice sauce with it plus some sautaide potatoes and asparagus. I wish I brought a tin opener with me but the restaurant was excellent as a back up plan.

Wierd review for me, but it would of been 5 star if there was Sunday lunch on. Promising photos of beef Sunday lunch on social media to asking if they were served to which I was told they are every sunday. They were serving only roast pork loin, and not on a traditional Sunday lunch. This was a bit of an upset to most of the party to one who didn't eat at all due to not being to eat pork and requiring at least a roast potato and a Yorkshire pudding!! HOWEVER: I got a fish and chips and it was top tier, staff were as lovely as the surroundings and I really thought it was nice. I do understand that the boards go up daily, but if you aren't serving the so called "legendary" Sunday lunch, then say so ☺ Ps - smoky bacon sauce isn't gravy 😘

In early April we appreciated the heated washrooms. The women's showers were modern, roomy and temperature adjustable and could be as hot as needed. The men's showers were not temperature adjustable and were a little on the cool side. The facilities were always clean and the site tidy. Our pitch was level and had good views. Indoor or more sheltered washing up sinks would have been appreciated in the chilly weather we experienced and a drying room for wet weather gear would be a great addition to this campsite.

If your idea of good value is paying £9 for one slice of cheese on toast & little bit of salad all served by a surly, Antipodean waitress then this is the place to go. Take a pack of sandwiches and watch the view from the road to the causeway. Such a pity …. Used to be a decent place to go but they’re overthinking menus & what people want ( in my humble opinion).

Very expensive. Too many badly behaved dogs. One bit a little girl near to us and nothing was done about it. Service was poor.

Called for coffee and a light lunch with a view to staying on the campsite later this year. Campsite has amazing views of the coast, ladies toilets and showers were spotless and luxurious compared to many I’ve used. Pitches are solid and level. I will definitely be back to stay here. Restaurant staff were great, very welcoming. Good coffee and I had a cheese scone which is the best I’ve had for quite some time. Other members of our group had soup and sandwiches everyone thoroughly enjoyed theirs…clean plates and compliments all round. Great location for a visit to Holy Island and beach walks. Just perfect

We were going to eat but felt the menu was a bit limited Not much for vegan options Decided to just have drinks and as we decided on not to eat the waitress simply snatched the menu off of us. Not good vibe

What a great little find for camping. A great little site, with a restaurant and bar. I can't fault the friendliness of the staff, who were approachable and ensured I had everything I needed. I took a small tent, the ground was dry and it was easy to get the pegs into the ground unlike other sites I have used. A nice area for walking to Holy Island or just along the coast. I will definitely make a return visit.

Location is great, views are stunning but the drinks were awful. Flat and had a funny after taste. Menu was so confusing. We received a menu with only 3 sandwiches and kids options. Staff seemed too busy to get hold off. We disappointingly paid for our drinks and went elsewhere for lunch.

There is a nice café and bar, it's very close to Holy Island so there are lots of walks around here, and even if you don't want to go to Holy Island, you can walk by the coast. The reason that I haven't put a rating on rooms is because it's your motorhome, there are no problems with location though. There are some nice views but there is a train that passes nearby that can be quite loud

Food good apparently but not really a village pub anymore. Called in for a pint and although there are four hand pumps there are no kegs attached to them so no proper beer. "We don't sell enough to warrant buying it in". So if you're looking for a meal probably ok but if you're wondering about a pint you'll be disappointed. Shame, it used to be good.....

Portions are sometimes huge, see the seafood risotto for example with a lot of mussels too However flavour was generally lacking, if harmonious cos of how mild it was. Texture of risotto and pasta are almost a pass. Not the most authentic but overall it's passable for UK standards

Had a great family meal here, my wife said her Lamb Roghan was the best she has had.
