Barley Mow in Stafford

The staff and management were amazing and could not do enough to ensure I wonderful meal and evening. Outstanding staff and management that you so much!!!

I visited the Barley Mow last night with a friend and was extremely impressed by the service I received from Amelie, a delightful young lady who epitomised excellent customer service. She was courteous, friendly and thoughtful - sadly, so rare with so many young people who work in the service industry these days. The Barlow Mow should feel lucky to have her.

Had a lovely lunch, once again, for our 'end of season' bowls meal, on Thursday, 7th November. Staff were excellent, food was served on time and hot. Thank you Kath and her team.

Visited today with 4 friends. All ate from the lunch menu , certainly not disappointed . Food was delicious When we arrived the Barley Mow was very busy with people eating and drinking .Appeared to be few staff on duty, but as always Kath and team attended to our needs with no problems. Thankyou Can highly recommend lunch.

We booked this pub as we were on a canal boat holiday and it was not far from the canal. We were seated quickly and Emily was our waitress and she was lovely, explained the menu and took our drinks and good orders. Emily made sure everything was ok throughout the evening and kept us in drinks and dessert.

I arrived at barley mow on Sunday where a kind young lad named Edward seated me and my two sons and gave us a lovely clean table and showed us the menu and what was missing that day. He had great manners and I was very pleased. The food was lovely and my kids were happy will definitely be returning

Was a bit sceptical about a pub doing breakfast from 9am on a Sunday. What a lovely surprise to find it open, the breakfast was amazing freshly cooked for a reasonable price and the staff were friendly , especially Luke who served us , very chatty made us very welcome..

Popped in here over Saturday evening with the dog, although no table was available inside, the manager was very accommodating and got us a table outside and positioned a large umbrella for us, the weather was warm, but drizzley, we were made to feel welcome although they were busy. Food was nice, but it was a bit slow at the bar, and prices were slightly higher than other pubs in the area, will go back again as the atmosphere was ok and we were made to feel welcome.

Food was good and delivered in good time considering the Sunday lunch rush. All tasted lovely and our server Emily was a sweetheart to the whole family

Food was good, but dont go if you have kids. No soft play and park out of bounds. Service is slow too despite not seeming too busy

Came for my birthday meal with my family their was 6 of us and a baby. We waited 45 mins for food and when it came out some things was cold and i was missing my gb from my meal. I didnt want to make a fuse and find some1 as we didnt get a check back. Was disappointed on the night as it was my 40th birthday meal. Not been for a meal in 6 months and wont return

Visited the Wacky Warehouse, Angela was brilliant with my Granddaughter. Had a lovely time. Would recommend. Food came very fast and coffee and cake was lovely. Will be back.

Excellent breakfast as always! We come regulary with our dog, they provide water for her and the service is always great. We're so pleased to have somewhere local to walk to. Thank you!

Really disappointed with the food. Ordered a medium rare ribeye. Received a cremated lunp of grissle( (i 'm still feeling nauseous now) . I left hungry but at least my children ate .. Waiting staff were lovely though and that's why I've given the stars..

Basic pub grub, well cooked, well presented , good value and pleasant staff. What more do you need. Well positioned too, right by Shugborough National Trust. The Whacky Warehouse attached can be a plus if you have children.

Visited today for Sunday lunch. Very disappointed. The meal was lukewarm. Two measly thin slices of beef which were pink in the middle and the rind very chewy and inedible. Maybe you were having an off day but we won't be coming back.

Another great breakfast here at the Barley Mow - our 'go to' pub of choice for consistently great food and service whether it be for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a drink.Donna treats us really well, always cheerful and quick to serve. Dogs welcome too!

Having recently moved into the area we decided to give this pub a try. We were pleasantly surprised by the TARDIS -like size of the interior as it doesn't look that big from the outside. The staff were friendly and efficient, taking our order promptly, and the food arrived in good time and was very nice. Good portion sizes for the prices charged. The building has a very relaxing ambience and has a dog friendly area also. Will definitely visit again.

Not the best. Food was a bit bland and didn't taste great. The service was friendly. The male toilets were disgusting, had dead flies and mould in the light fittings, and was an awful smell coming from them. The actual restaurant it's self was nice! Won't be in a rush to come back

We have been to the barley mow many times and I have to say we are never disappointed. The food is very good and well presented complements to the chef. The service that we received from Loren was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for her. We would recommend the Barley Mow to our friends and family and this is down to the excellent staff.

Come here every few weeks for lunch as it’s normally pretty good but went on the 28th March and the food has gone completely down hill. Heard the changed the chef and you can tell the standards are not the same. My steak sandwich was bland, the salad was swimming in dressing and my rosemary chips had no rosemary. My friends plate were equally meh and the kids food was not good at all. The nuggets smelt like plastic and tasted like burnt oil. The Staff in the wakey that day between 1-4 were fab though. Keeping in top of the cleaning when it was busy and handling complaints like true super hero’s. They are a credit to your staff.

Took our daughter to the wacky. Ordered food. Absolutely terrible service. Half the order come out. Had to wait for the rest to arrive. Ordered the chicken sharer. When it arrived the skewers were missing. Was told oh don’t think we have any. So was replaced by 2 measly gujions. The fajita chicken part was stone cold. I told our sever who said he would replace it and he disappeared like a fart in the night never to be seen again. Still waiting for the chicken now. Cheesy garlic bread and halloumi fries were over cooked to within an inch of their lives. Loaded fries had 3 pieces of bacon and a few strands of cheddar on it. Over all the food quality was absolutely shocking, and the service wasn’t much better. I paid £30 for a table of food I wouldn’t feed to a stray dog. Completely unacceptable really. Extremely disappointing. I won’t be eating or visiting here again.

Could not fault the Barley Mow when researching for a family and friends celebratory meet-up venue in the Stafford area. Staff could not have been more helpful with our enquiries, especially Jacob - always being courteous and providing prompt service throughout our visit (despite our persistent questions and queries!) Likewise, the lunch we selected from an extensive menu was very good and we will definitely be booking our family and friends get-together here in the very near future. In a lovely setting too, opposite Milford Common and Cannock Chase and adjacent to Shugborough Hall entrance - so lots to see or do in the local area. Hence highly recommended for a visit.

We had a reasonable visit to the Barley Mow last Saturday. The food quality was good; the portions slightly small. The service wasn’t great and it was quite busy but took a very long time to get our order taken and over an hour for plates and glasses to be removed
