wanted to post here as initially we were off put by the negative reviews. But I’m glad to say that either they have changed or the other reviews were over blown or unlucky. We are staying in the adjacent campsite and got breakfast on one morning with a breakfast bap and scone and both were quite tasty. Equally the coffee on both occasions was nice and they actually listen to the requests. The latte which is often gotten wrong in lots of places passes the wife test very well and my americano was tasty and when I asked to leave plenty of space for milk they actually did and asked if they would add the milk for me. Happy. Don’t be put off. I didn’t personally find it dirty at all.

Great spot and traybakes where nice, but terrible service 5 staff (all kids) most of when standing talking! No management Tables outside all dirty, a girl brought coffee out to a customer and the table was full of crumbs and she didn’t even clean it. It’s a real shame as it’s a great spot!

Appalling cleanliness and hygiene! Sat and observed for a while this afternoon while having refreshments. Place was dirty and floor covered in litter. Staff were feeding dogs right by where the coffee is made, then disappearing back in the kitchen. Another staff member finally picked up loads of litter off the floor but then, without washing hands, carried on doing things behind the counter. Yet another staff member was wiping down food areas with the dirtiest cloth I’ve ever seen. Staff were handling money then proceeding to serve cakes and ice creams without cleaning hands. Three hours after being there my wife had a terrible upset stomach and spent ages in the toilet. Coincidence maybe? But given what I’d seen this afternoon I could take a good guess at a likely cause. Certainly won’t be visiting again, and I hope someone from Food Hygiene Services does!

First impressions of the Barista Coffee House weren't great. It's a grey-painted concrete box. On the inside there is a small seating area for customers. I found that the tables could be cleaned more frequently. There were spilled drinks left on one or two tables. My friends and I ordered ice cream. There's a lot to choose from by way of sundaes, tubs and my choice - a "standard cone" which cost £2.50. There's a cheaper option, known as a "cheeky monkey cone" which retails at just over one pound. If you'd prefer to eat hot food rather than ice cream, there is a selection of hot food items on the menu such as a breakfast bap for a little under three pounds or if you want, you can choose sausage rolls or toasties. But bear in mind, that there aren't many items on the hot food menu. If you'd prefer to sit outside, there are a few, numbered tables available. It' s a dog-friendly coffee house and staff will kindly fill up water bowls for your average pet dog to sate its thirst. Overall, Barista Coffee House wasn't bad.

The guy who served me was absolutely brilliant. Couldn’t fault them at all. So my little one chose which cone she wanted- as being a girl she wanted the rainbow 🌈 coloured one- which includes 2 scoops of ice cream, may i mention tiniest scoops I’ve ever seen ice cream shop serve. To my surprise & the wee fellas surprise, that tiny rainbow waffle with 2 scoops of ice cream came to £3,75, like what the actual hell? The guy turned to the lady and asked is the rainbow one actually 3,75 & I thought at first i over heard him say that , but when my bill came to £7,05 (latte incl.) I nearly dropped to the floor. As someone who have worked in a place like this, I was not gonna refuse the ice cream as I know it would have gone to the bin anyways, but yeeezzzz like seriously? If they were decent large scoops I wouldn’t mind, but I feel like I paid for the “rainbow “ colours in the waffle. Also would be handy if the displayed the prices on the wee waffle stand where you choose which waffle you want. 🙄 What a rip off

Been a regular here for years but after today will not be back. Have never been in a cafe in my life where people are allowed to reserve tables whilst other people stand with their hot food and drinks in their hands. Total shambles of a policy. Totally disgusted after buying food and drink for 2 young kids today to have to stand while other customers plonked their kids on all the seats while their mother queued for sweets. Decided to use 2 seats temporarily (which were unoccupied) for the safety of the children and was met by a tirade of abuse by their mother when she arrived with sweets. This was backed up by your staff member. The other indoor table was occupied by 4 students while one queued for coffee. At the time there was thunder, lightning and heavy rain. The staff member thought it was quite ok for people to hog these tables long before they had food and drink. Particularly disgusted that a lady on a stick had to stand and balance herself at the sanitiser table while drinking her tea while children without food or drink took precedence on seats at tables. Ridiculous.

I was here for some tea and cake. I liked the tea and cake. Small pot. They did drop the stirring paddle onto the table along with everything else, so I hope the table was clean. One smart move: there was a queue spilling all the way out of the door, but that was for the ice cream. Inside there were two sections, and for most everything else there was almost no queue, which was a relief. You order and pay, then sit and they bring it to you. The staff all seemed busy, but were doing well. I liked the light in the place, airy glass walls in places. One customer was sneezing violently, and several food items were uncovered and in her firing line. I liked the chairs. For a toilet they directed me to ones back outside, which would mean losing my place in the queue. Instead they offered a squirt of hand sanitiser. OK. Big, free car park outside. Great beach very nearby.

The place was absolutely packed, our coffee was good and brought out to is at a table outside in the sun. Warm day, popped in for a quick ice cream. Some time later, I was sill standing there, waiting… waiting… the girl who was serving had a facial expression which… let’s say strongly implied that she doesn't like her job much. Every so often, while our growing queue waited interminably, she would wander off for ages to try and get some change from elsewhere, as she clearly hadn’t been supplied with much. Or ice cream. It took about 20 minutes to get served; 18 of 20 ice cream containers were empty, so you could have rum & raisin, or cookies & cream. When I eventually got my tiny – sorry, “Medium” tub, I wandered down to the Lough Shore to enjoy it, but sadly that wasn’t possible either as it was almost, but not quite, completely tasteless. I believe the brand was Mullen’s.

Situated on the East Antrim Coast at Jordanstown is this small little Barista Coffee House for people enjoying the park and fabulous walk to put their feet up and enjoy a brew, ice cream or bite to eat. I got an americano and an extremely sweet salted caramel tray bake that I enjoyed eating. The only thing that could be problem is that it is quite small and there isn't a lot of room, although there are chairs and tables outside but on a rainy day you may find yourself packed tightly in so I could only recommend it for small groups of 4 or less.

Staff are not very friendly or helpful - can be quite sharp and bland to speak to. Staff last year were a lot better! Unfortunately they don't seem to make any food to order (wraps, sandwiches etc) which is disappointing as their range of premade choices isn't great. Settled on the soup which was like dish water only with less flavour!! Bread wasn't fresh and even 3 sachets of salt couldn't save the soup. Has so much potential but is nowhere near there yet.

We have been to this cafe several times and it just keeps getting worse. Today (7/6/16) we just stopped for a quick lunch, we might have just ripped up £20 before we left our house as the value, service etc was terrible. We hate wasting money but don't mind if at least one of the elements are ok, but the service was very bad and the staff where so miserable, it wasn't that that clean either. The stew was cold and we couldn't tell what type of stew it was, Lamb or Beef? they must have waved a picture of a lamb or cow over the bowl to show the potatoes what it was supposed to be. The drinks are too expensive for where it is and needless to say we will never be back. This place needs a good gutting out and I mean the staff, cooks and food, the best form of advertising is from the comments of the customers and this is a very sub standard cafe. Don't sit near the door as you will probably catch a cold and your food will be freezing.

Love this café! Very friendly staff who are always helpful and the food is beautiful. Great location beside the sea with excellent views to relax and have a coffee. As a local I have been many times and highly recommend.

Took kids to park and called in for a much needed ice cream (and coffee for me!) Ended up having a delish sweet chilli chicken n cheese panini, stew for kids with a 'poke' for afters. Staff super friendly and on top of things in a very busy shop - credit to them! Latte was perfect ❤️

I am at this cafe on a regular basis. ..not through love of their food, cleanliness nor indeed service but rather because of the constant barraging of my grandchildren to get lollipops prior to their park experience. It is filthy (tables and floors) and although they do offer a good coffee, the staff are vacant and appear to be more concerned with smoking (outside the kitchen door) or talking about their latest diet. Avoid and go to the local coffee bar (Whose, Sozo or new Mauds). A real shame given the location and potential for a decent coffeehouse!

I often take a walk with my dog along the beach at loughshore , on Monday of this week I decided to treat myself to a hot chocolate The cafe wasn't very busy at the time I went in and ordered and was told they would bring it outside to me ( outside because I had the dog)It didn't take long to come the girl said they had no cream but I could have marshmallows all great except for the long blonde hair that was in my first sipI went inside and they made me a fresh cupI was again walking today Sunday and went in for another drinkThe girls behind the counter had no idea what they where doing people where waiting on drinks and no one seems to know who had ordered whatI again went and sat down my drink came but instead of a hot chocolate it was a cold chocolate I just couldn't be bothered to go up again so I just left, £2.75 I might as well have thrown down the grate Needless to say I won't repeat the experience

Call in here when I take the kids to the park. Good choice of eats and drinks but frequently, particularly in summer, run out of things like their ice cream at their stall. Also they don't take debit card payments at all which has caught me out and I had to put all the food on my tray back and we just went hungry!

Hard to beat this wee coffee shop. Staff are just lovely and their take away coffee after a long walk is hard to beat. Would recommend to everyone!

Visited on a very busy weekday, staff were friendly and helpful. One girl went and got me.high chair and cleaned it down for me. Then chatted to my toddler while I got ice cream, latte was delicious. I'll definitely be back soon.

Well made a cappuccino and latte. Really tasty snacks. And a beautiful setting looking over Belfast Lough. If you bring kids then there's a great play area for them.

Been to Barista a few times over the course of a year. Each time has been ok but overall a bit of a disappointment. Staff are attentive and friendly but are in short demand, I noticed that the three staff in were pretty stressed and run off their feet to provide any outstanding customer service. For this reason, coffees were a bit late arriving. Food is okay if you like the same selection every time you are in. Asked what special was on the hot plate..... Sausage rolls! Asked what time delivery arrived at..... They did not know! Bad management! No scones, no food....Due to short staff the floor was dirty, tables dirty.... Not a fault of the staff, a few more were needed and a manager available! Three out of four times a manager was not available when asked! Chipped cups, no cutlery, boring selection of food and staff so busy they have no time for a personal touch..... BIG let down!

Visited the Halt recently for a family meal out. The restaurant was quiet, service was adequate. Server was friendly and bar tender also friendly however when I visited the restaurants toilets I was very disappointed as they look as though they have not been cleaned in a very long time. Fake tan marks on toilet seat and feaces on the inner rim of the toilet and bins appeared not to have been emptied in a while and mirror filthy. Made me question the cleanliness of the kitchen this had put me off returning. Hopefully the team at the Halt will improve there cleaning skills as the food is good.

I was shopping in Next today & decided to go for my usual coffee at Ground, which I’ve been doing on a weekly basis for years I needed to use the bathroom beforehand but when I tried to enter the toilets they were locked. A male server shouted over to me that they were for Ground customers only & they required a code to enter. As I started to explain, a female server came over to me & repeated that the toilets were for customer use only. I explained that I WAS a customer but needed to use the ladies before I ordered. As it was lunchtime there was a queue & I needed the toilet immediately, after which I would order. This female server abruptly said “you’ll get the code when you get your receipt!” I tried to explain that I needed the toilet there & then & before I could explain that I am registered disabled she walked off. I was shocked at this behaviour, very embarrassed & walked away. I walked around the mall to use the centre toilets & went into Cafe Nero where I was greeted & welcomed & enjoyed my coffee & cake. The behaviour of the staff in Ground was disgusting, discriminating & totally unacceptable. I will never use this cafe again & will be reporting their actions to the relevant agencies under the Disability Discrimination Act.

Jake, seemed nice, but up your fame fella, gave me 2 wrong items and I'm sipping ok a cold coffee with an iced donut whe. I clearly said custard caramel donut and a chicken bake, sat here with katau curry which won't agree with me!

Poor Cleanliness I was shocked by how dirty this restaurant was, despite being almost empty. The floors were filthy, the tables sticky, and even the bathroom was in bad shape. If the visible areas are this dirty, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Definitely won’t be returning.
