We visited last week whilst staying in Cheltenham. We booked last minute for 20 people, they accommodated us without any complaints. Due to an event that was late we didn’t arrive until 8:45. The staff were amazing with no complaints about our punctuality. The food was out and was fantastic. 20 satisfied chaps, I would 100% recommend this to anyone.

Lunch was absolutely spot on, as always. We had the spicy beef noodles on this occasion but I’ve had quite a few dishes on the menu in all the years since we’ve been customers. Bar and Wok is easily my number one Chinese restaurant in Cheltenham.

Avoid avoid AVOID! *DANGER!* I’ll raise a personal RED FLAG if considering taking a sit down meal in this establishment: Smells like a wet dog, paint and plaster falling off the walls, generally feeling of uncleanliness with a waft of damp. No ACTUAL COOKING happens on site, everything is from the freezer and/or microwaved from jars. I can not say this strongly enough DO NOT EAT HERE!

We went in april and it was amazing! the food tasted delectable, and our entire party loved it! There was lots of options and we even had a picky eater in our group who still enjoyed some more plane noodles! I recommend the egg noodles with vegetables, as it tastes really good and the vegetable top it off. They have lots of other options such as rice and tofu, which are all great! Our table got served nearly straight away after we all decided what to have, and the food arrived in about 10m. The staff were really nice and even gave one of our friends kids a lollipop! overall was great and would definitely go again.

Not sure how other reviewers have struggled so much with booking and with the menu. The website has a booking form and I received confirmation within an hour that my table was booked for the following day. Staff mentioned what was on the "3 for £10" offer without being asked and it was clearly signposted on the menu. The food was delicious and served quickly. The vegan "pork" was so convincing I had to ask to be sure I wasn't given actual pork! Good prices, friendly staff, nice beer on tap.

Average service. Food was tough and bland. But most of all they are a Clause in the ‘3 for £10 starter’ option which is not well publicised

Cannot make any comment about the food as it is impossible to make a booking by telephone. I'm not going to chance a walk in and I'm blown if I'll go down there in person just to make a booking.

Great service, the food is always amazing & generous portion sizes. Regularly eat here and cannot recommend it enough!

Absolutely superb food and quality staff. We popped in here after admiring it from afar durIng the Covid shenanigans. . . The food is in a league if it’s own. Barbecued mixed meat was absolutely superb. The accompanying noodles / bean sprouts prepared to perfection.Add to all of this an absolutely breathtaking display of customer service in dealing with a customer who was intent on making a nuisance of herself. Top marks all round. Will likely be back tomorrow. And the day after! Sheer excellence.

We're back and doing the mystery meal again. Yet again they seem to know what we like...started is spring roll and satay chicken. The later has a lush sauce and a garnish to complement. Mains were Singapore Fried Vermicelli and Beef in Black Bean Sauce with Fried Rice. Both dishes first class. Service as always fast and friendly. Well be back...not sure what the next excuse will be but this time the kitchen was so clean we couldn't use it....

Damn, you do not deliver. I am missing your delicious food and cannot wait until you open again. I just input my order to then say collection time....boo hoo. It is ok I will just have to suffer a bit longer.

Had no idea what we would get but it was worth the mystery...Beef Patty with nuts, Duck Spring Rolls, Spicey Beef Noodles, Chinese Curry (Beef Chinese King Prawn)......Amazing they seemed to know our taste.Very taste as always. Fast, friendly service. We will return.

Bar and Wok was one of the first places we went to for takeaways when restrictions were lifted a tiny bit last Spring, having previously enjoyed eating in (BC). We have found it consistently good quality and excellent value, the online ordering system works well and the at-kerb delivery is brilliant. 4* for the food because this clearly doesn't set out to be haute cuisine, but it is jolly tasty and a beacon of cheery and reassuring normality throughout an increasingly surreal year.

This is going to sound like a hatchet job but I just really want to warn anyone who has a taste for authentic East Asian food to go elsewhere.4 dishes ordered and 4 dishes barely eaten. One of our group actually had to go to bed feeling ill afterwards. Not because the food was spoiled but because the textures and flavours made them feel nauseous.We have travelled widely in east Asia and are forever looking for a taste of that experience here in the UK. We're often a bit disappointed as the food is often translated to UK tastes and loses a lot in the translation. Usually though it is enjoyable on some level. Not this food - it was awful.We are new to Cheltenham so haven't eaten out much yet so to find something this inauthentic getting good reviews on TripAdvisor is a bit concerning as maybe it doesn't bode well for the general standard of Asian food in the area.A far, far better place is Ginger and Garlic which is just down the road from here. It's not the finest cuisine but it does taste authentic and is very tasty. Bar and Wok, really not.Sorry Bar and Wok - you seem nice and appear to be well meaning but you really need to up your game.

Just had another amazing meal at Bar & Wok. First time trying the vegetarian/vegan lucky dip meal as we weren't sure what to eat - two starters and two mains for £20 with plenty of leftovers! Had excellent food every time I've been and there are a lot of options for vegetarians vegans. Ordered online and received food within 45 mins - got to the restaurant 5 mins early and the food was hot and fresh for us. Looking forward to be drinking and eating there after lockdown!

Tues-Thurs 2 starters and 2 mains for £20! Really delicious hot food, fresh ingredients. Kids and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to getting back into the restaurant after lockdown. Make a really tasty treat to raise the spirits. Ordered on line, for time that suited, and drive by to collect.

Este restaurante siempre ha sido una de las joyas de Cheltenham. La comida anteriormente era fresca, sabrosa y no tenía una cantidad significativa de sal / msg. Lo único en el menú que obviamente provenía de un paquete era el condimento para cerdo char siu, que era fácil de evitar si quería evitar el mensaje. Cada plato fue genial.Sin embargo, en los últimos 3 a 9 meses ha ido cuesta abajo. Cosas como el entrante de costillas de miel, previamente hecho con una receta de la casa, se ha cambiado al estándar cargado de mensajes, teñir los dedos de rojo, adobo de un paquete que usan la mayoría de las comidas para llevar baratas. Estábamos nerviosos por cenar debido a Covid, pero la medida implementada para proteger a los clientes y al personal fue muy bien pensada y promulgada regularmente. El personal limpiaba los servicios con frecuencia, desinfectaba las manos, mantenía la distancia y servía al otro lado de la mesa. Mesas bien espaciadas. Los clientes que recogían comida para llevar pidieron que se desinfectaran las manos y se pararan en un área separada de los comensales.La comida era excelente, teníamos calamares, agridulce y plato grande de verduras mixtas de pollo. Todos fueron muy agradables y tienen buenas opciones para sin gluten, vegetarianos y veganos.Personal y amable, servicial y atento.La única mejora que diría es que conocemos el menú bastante bien, pero para los nuevos clientes, el menú escaneado con QR no era muy fácil de usar.

Very very friendly staff. I was impressed with how they've adapted to social distancing. Really lovely food - I had sweet and sour tofu and it was amazing.

One of the worse food experience. Rice dishes were salty . Satay chicken was dry and over cooked. Noodles was also too dry. Service was ok. Won’t be going back again...

My first visit due to Rishi’s offer. What a hidden gem of a place.Firstly a warm and friendly welcome. All tables got a safety marker for us to sit on the other. No close contact from the server and us.All tables in set in safe distance from the other.Food server warm and adequately portioned. Timely follow-up.Overall, A fantastic experience.

We moved away from Cheltenham 5 years ago and when we lived there it was our favourite. Particularly the tofu dishes due to the way it is cooked!We were back in Cheltenham and knew we had to come back for a meal..we got a table on a Saturday evening which was fairly quiet due to Covid. The food is still just as good -We had tofu with cashew nuts and sweet and sour tofu.They had a good system set up where they leave your order at the end of the bench for you to grab your plates etc. Then when done you put it back at the end of the bench to be taken away. The service was super friendly too.

When I say this is the best restaurant I've ever been to, it is an understatement. I go here at least once a month and the staff are WONDERFUL. So friendly, attentive and always going the extra mile. The food is DELICIOUS and the portions are large. The prices are MORE THAN REASONABLE. I honestly could not use words that would do justice how great this restaurant is. Try the prawn toast and the beef in a black bean sauce - you won't regret it. 10/10.

Tried the beef patty to see what all the fuss was about as usually stick to chicken satay, prawn toast and sea-weed. Now I know why it’s one of the best sellers absolutely amazing and will be for sure one of my go to starters!

In the past we have eaten in the restaurant and wanted to try their collection service. Ordered for 8:30, so it was quiet, but the process was excellent.The quality of food was second to none and the quantity was more than we could eat. Absolutely suberb.We'll be back!

Ordered for collection (in advance). Went at the time they said and waited in the car while my wife collected it. Proceeded to wait for almost an hour before the food eventually came. They offered a drink to my wife while she waited but not a lot of good that did me while I spent my Friday night in the car waiting. All this at a time when restaraunts are being told not to open unless for collection, but with the number of people there they may as well have been open for business as usual. Even better was watching the customers arriving after us leaving with food. A second complaint raising this fact with them got me a beer and some prawn crackers for when I was eventually able to go home. I'd rather have just had my food at the time they told me when I actually ordered it.

Friendly staff, prices reasonable. Nothing wrong with the place but also nothing outstanding. I may go again for easy quick casual dining. No option to put 3.5 stars as I would put it above average.

Second time here, again really impressed. Good value and great atmosphere. would say to anyone thinking of going, BOOK. We sat there on a Saturday night and must of seen a dozen people get turned away.

Reasonable selection of dishes, all well presented. Pleasant and helpful staff. Atmosphere a bit lacking and basic.

Another good meal here pre cinema visit. Service was ok. Bit slow at taking orders but when food came out it was lovely. Three of us had the Singapore noodles but with the spice toned down. Very flavoursome this is about 3rd or 4th time I’ve eaten here and always been very happy with it so will definitely be back

Bar & Wok has been a regular favourite for as long as I can remember. We visited tonight for an impromptu family meal and it was everything we wanted: hot fresh tasty food, great service and value for money. We had noodles, crispy beef, duck spring rolls, calamari, ribs, prawn toast and it was all delicious. Such friendly staff too and a very pleasant atmosphere.

Came to bar and wok having heard really good things but unfortunately left really disappointed. My food came out within minutes of ordering which at first I thought was brilliant but then thought that it had probably only been microwaved to achieve this. Food was bland and dry and my side of Chinese curry sauce was thick and had a layer on top probably from being sat there for so long. This was a shame because the staff were really helpful but definitely won’t be returning.

I have been coming to Bar and Wok for years and it is always consistent with their food which is amazing! We live just outside Cheltenham and Bar and Wok is always our first choice. I know lots of people who share this opinion too!

Sort it out Bar and Wok! ... your standards are slipping fast. This has been our go-to Chinese for years and we regularly eat here (eat-in and take out). The last 3 visits have seen a rapid decline in service and quality of their take out food. They are now never ready on time and the food is often half cold on arrival home. Tonight’s take-out was truly awful. The food was very greasy and mostly inedible, especially the tofu! The noodles tasted bitter and burnt and the tempura was overcooked, soggy and stone cold. I have left positive reviews several times and frequently recommend this place to friends and work colleagues... especially veggies and vegans. It’s so disappointing to see it go downhill. Please Bar and Wok, get back to the quality you were delivering 12 months ago!

We hadn't booked and in the run up to Christmas we were lucky to get a couple of seats at a high bench table. Nice layout and atmosphere.

Popped in for a spot of lunch and the guy was so lovely and excited when I said I was vegan that he raved about this dish... He was right to as it was a delight. Couldn't believe the whole thing was vegan even the 'pork'. YUMBLES!

Popped in for a light lunch recently whilst out shopping, on a friend’s recommendation. Wagamama style benches and similar menu but with more of an emphasis on Chinese dishes. I ordered too much - all delicious and will certainly go back. No complaints at all.

By the time we entered, some guy approached already that we need to wait for 2 and a half hours before the next table will be available eventhough we can see some free tables already. Very disappointing

Well deserved recognition with the recent Observer award , be careful not to order too much as the portions are huge . The beef patties are to die for and the noodle dishes hot and packed full of meat etc .

My friend and I visited this restaurant last week for a nice evening out. I had heard rave reviews about Bar and Wok, including my housemates review the night before.

Staying just round the corner on a wet Sunday night and didn't want to go far for food.

Really great food, immense portion and for a very reasonable price. Friendly staff and super busy with a great atmosphere. Would thoroughly recommend!

A dreary day in Cheltenham and thoughts turn to lunch. I have been to Bar Wok so many times and thoroughly enjoy it so i thought I would brighten up my day and have lunch there.

We have been meaning to try this place out for a long time but finally managed to do so with two of our young granddaughters who were staying with us for a couple of nights. We all enjoyed our very tasty meals, which came in such generous portions that the girls were able to take their leftovers home to have for lunch the next day!

Lovely welcome, quick ordering but not rushed,it has chopsticks and knives and forks. Food lovely, massive portions, including kids menu, which got its own 5 star rating from the 8 year old. Great options for designated driver drinks including 0% lager, which was very refreshing!

Fantastic freshly cooked chinese food and incredible value for money, this is without doubt the tastiest and freshest food I have ever eaten.

I ordered 2 sides of calamari and the portions were enormous and the rest of the food was too. Great friendly service as well. Would defiantly go again.

We ate here this evening to wish two colleagues well in their new jobs, and a few had ordered the starter 'to add' to any main for £2.50. When the bill came, we queried that this had not been reflected and the manager said that she had clearly asked if we wanted them with the mains or before. The menu doesn't specify any timings with the deal just that you can 'add one to any main'. She was very rude to us and asserted that she had been clear and that there was nothing she could do. Her tone was abrasive and she did not acknowledge that she or the menu were unclear. She also had not specified when asking if we wanted the starter with that we would need to for the deal. This was a shame as it was otherwise a lovely evening.

Went here with our son and daughter-in-law and 2 year old grandson for lunch. The restaurant is not situated in the smartest part of town, and doesn't dazzle at first appearance from the exterior, but don't let that put you off! The greeting from staff was first class - wonderful smiles all round and fantastic service throughout. The food was excellent (with an extensive vegan menu in addition to the normal one) and at least half of the people eating there were Chinese - always a good sign. Soon after we arrived, a group of 23 sat down to lunch. In most restaurants, this would impinge on the service to other guests, but the excellent staff just took everything in their stride, seemed calm, and continued to offer both us and other guests wonderful service. It's necessary to walk past the kitchen to get to the loos, and its layout meant that you can get a good look at it. Everything looked clean and well organised. As we were leaving, one of the staff (I suspect he was the owner) had an ice lolly behind his back, and before offering it to our grandson, asked us very politely if that was permissible. A lovely touch! Also, at £85 for a huge amount of food and drinks (including two large glasses of wine) for 4 adults and a child, I think this is wonderful value. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and can't wait to return.

A long time favourite with a (previously) deserved local reputation, but I am at a loss to understand what happened this evening.

What great hosts and great food, we took a chance taking the grandparents who loved the food! It was also a birthday celebration and they looked after the birthday boy very well.

Such a busy place every night of the week. Also great for a takeaway. We have taken family and friends here many times and they are never disappointed.

Delicious food as always, great new menu and super service. A great place for friends, family with young children, group's and more.

We've now eaten in bar and wok more times than any other restaurant in Cheltenham. Every time the service is warm and welcoming, the food is delicious and the portion sizes huge. Definitely would recommend the beef patty appetiser, along with satay chicken. Best main IMO is the mixed meat from the barbecue, having had it many times now it is consistently brilliant. We would and often do recommend bar and wok to put friends!

I just got home from an evening here with my girlfriend. We booked a table for 7pm, (We booked it late, it was my fault) and there wasn't a table free. The manager gave us both free drinks and a basket of prawn crackers until our table was free, which wasn't long. The food was quick and incredibly tasty!! The staff are all friendly and the environment is casual. You can tell the entire team cares about the food and the restaurant itself, if I could rate it higher I would. It's my favourite restaurant ever!

Went with a group of friends on a cold Wednesday night, the place was buzzing - full with a mixture of ages. The food was very hot, lots of it, perfectly cooked and the serving staff were charming. The only small thing, the toilets are a bit nasty and could do with a bit of an upgrade.

Love this place. Food is delicious and also comes super quick! Not the sort of place to hang around for a while though.

When you come for the first time, you'll be disappointed though. Disappointed that you never came here before and that you've missed out on loads of lovely meals.

I don't like leaving negative reviews and I assume it probably is the day, time etc you go but unfortunately we did not have the best experience. The toilets were not very pleasant and could definitely do with looking out, I always feel if the toilets are unhygienic its not good. Took a long time for the order to be taken. then the food came a little too quickly which was a worry, wrong order brought for some of it so had to wait for the complete order. We had to take a lot of the meat out of the meals as it was very grisly, quite off putting. After finishing our plates were taken, we were not asked if we wanted anymore drinks or if we wanted any pudding, then after 20 minutes of just sitting there we had to ask for the bill. Sadly we probably would not return.

The one restaurant I will keep coming back to in Cheltenham for a quick lunch or an early dinner is Bar and Wok. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. Service is quick and the wait for food is short.

Friendly owners, delicious & authentic food, local beers & ciders - Bar & Wok is my favourite place to visit when I come home from London. The tofu dishes are exceptional, and my meat eating friends love it too. I dream of the black bean sauce!!

Can not believe how quick service is , nice atmosphere , a menu that caters for all and massive portion sizes ! Have always wanted to visit but only got round to it a few weeks ago but have been twice since that’s how good it is ! I even have friends that order a sit down meal and then order extra to take away for the next day. This place doesn’t disappoint! Will visit regularly ☺️

We visited in Feb 2019. I had vegetable curry with rice - a fairly standard dish, nothing flashy. It was tasty and satisfying with a good variety of veg. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The place was busy with a nice atmosphere. My only negative is the loos which could really do with updating and a good clean up.

Came here at Chinese New Year as all the reviews rated this place the best Chinese in Cheltenham.... if this is really the case the other places must be truly awful. To be fair - the staff were lovely & the portions generous.

This place, for me is Cheltenhams' finest. It gets five stars, in every respect. The food is amazing and you get great value for money. It's clean, fast service and the staff are brilliant and are salt of the earth. I look forward to my visits here more than anywhere else and the week day lunch deal is fantastic. Thanks guys!

Revisited Bar & Wok for the first time in a while. Unfortunately some vandals/idiots had decided to smash the windows. Don’t be put off by the presently boarded up appearance, the food and welcome from Pak and his staff were as good as ever. Plus they’ve added a set price lunch Monday to Friday with choices from the main menu and an equivalent discount of 40%+ in my case!

Been going to Bar and Wok for years. It never fails. Delicious, fresh food. Large portions and not too expensive. Attentive and friendly staff. I just love it here. Would recommend to anyone!

This is a local restaurant that is very popular so booking is advised to ensure you get a table but the staff always try to make room for everyone. Good service, good food, good size portions and good value.

We booked about three weeks early for dinner for 3 people and asked to sit on the benches rather than bar stools. We had to clamber on to the bar stools anyway! It was absolutely packed at 7:30pm and clearly not enough staff although they were doing their best and a couple were quite friendly once once it quietened down. If you can go from 8pm onward. The food was ok except my crispy duck turned up without pancakes :) The price was reasonable- we had five alcoholic drinks and two courses each for £66. Good for a quick lunch or a bite before going out in the evening.

Bar and Wok is a great little gem in the town centre. It is a perfect place for a quick lunch or a meetup with friends over a plate of some yummy food.

Fuimos a cenar allí, ya que estábamos en la ciudad por un fin de semana. Nuestros platos principales tardaron 45 minutos. Teníamos rollitos de primavera de pato y la porción era pequeña y estaba quemada. Las bebidas estaban en la casa mientras esperábamos durante mucho tiempo a que llegara nuestra puerta. No fue nada especial. Me decepcionó ya que vi un montón de buenas críticas.

Went here for dinner and it was really lovely. Food was freshly cooked to order and was very tasty. Service was good too so would recommend and return.

Vine aquí por primera vez en septiembre para una comida excelente, las tres comidas eran súper sabrosas y las regamos con unas cervezas de tigre. El servicio fue muy agradable, atento y sin prisas. Los fideos son particularmente buenos y bien vale la pena el extra. Vine aquí de nuevo para el almuerzo la semana pasada y fue tan bueno. El ambiente es excelente y siempre está lleno, recuerde reservar con anticipación y tenga cuidado, incluso el almuerzo se llena de gente. Volveremos pronto.

Wonderful food and fantastic staff and just across from my office which is so good. Management meetings held there.
