Bar + Block Steakhouse London Kings Cross in Islington

We pre-booked for our visit to London for my fiancée’s birthday. On ordering we were told there were certain items on the menu unavailable even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. I chose the steak sampler but there was only one sauce available. The steak was amazing, especially the fillet, 12oz of steak with sides for £32 is a bargain! My fiancée wasn’t able to order what she wanted however.

It’s was nice, location is very good, food was delicious were enjoy, my wife birthday .Muhid service was excellent and helpful, we’re come back again ❤️

Oh my goodness. It took a considerable amount of time to be served. There appeared to be a lack of staff. Many meals were unavailable. Food was left on the pass for unsatisfactory times. The service was muddled, customers who attended after us were served with food whilst we waited. My Burger was lukewarm (being held at the pass too long), but the fries were hot. We had our plates cleared before we had finished!! We asked for the bill, and the waiter then went and cleaned the tables before attending to us. We were then told the service charge was not included, would we like to leave a tip? Good grief, tipping for poor service and lukewarm food - I don't think so!!! STEAR CLEAR!!

An amazing place for bottomless brunch, Naveen was an incredible host we will be coming back! I have to recommend the raspberry margarita it was the best of the bunch

Great food, really nice and amazing value for value for London (I’m born and raised in London). Service was 10/10. I had bottomless brunch. This is the first time I can say that the drinks were NOT diluted, and the service was great. Our waiter, Naveen, was really friendly and constantly came back to us to ask if we would like a top up. I’ve never seen service like that from a bottomless brunch before. I highly recommend.

Whenever I travel to another place, I would stay at Premier Inn. Before I was satisfied with the facilities of the hotel, but this time I felt very disappointed that the room and service is not in a basic standard. I booked 2 rooms in King's Cross. I asked for a clean service in every day, but the next day after I arrived in this hotel, they didn't do any cleaning of our room, so I went down to ask for housekeeping for tomorrow and I delivered towels by myself. The last night, when I took a bath, I discovered that the housekeeper hadn't filled the shower gel bottle. So maybe it's time to change hotels, no more Premier Inns.

Clean rooms with easy access to station and rest of London.

Good location. Room is functional and the heater works well. WIFI on the 4th floor is non existent. It wont connect at all. Only seem to work at the lobby. Asked the reception about this and she said its an “ongoing issue” for a few months already.

It's a reliable place to store your luggage.

Standard hotel convenient for St Pancras .

Clean, spacious room with comfy bed. Very quiet...wasn't disturbed by any noise. Breakfast was good and staff friendly, helpful and polite.

Underwhelming and Overcooked Came here for a meal after a trip to London with family, never having visited the steakhouse before After arrival we were taken to our table where the server just plonked our menus down and left returning 10 minutes later to take our order I ordered a Sirloin cooked blue and my acquaintance cooked medium rare The unseasoned steaks arrived with just chips and sauce, which I found rather lack luster to discover no garnish (would of been nice to have some veg etc) On cutting into the steak we discovered both steaks to be overcooked with the Blue being served medium rare and the medium rare served medium well to well. I didn’t want to make a fuss at first as these things can happen but a steakhouse who can’t cook steaks correctly is a bit worrying. After trying to eat some of the steak which I found very bland (Good job the sauce was there) the server finally came to ask if everything was ok where we explained the situation. He offered to replace the steaks but by that point and having already eaten some we decided that waiting for another when we needed to catch a return train was not going to be appropriate I will say cudos to the waiter who expressed his apologies however the manager was not very sympathetic like it was a chore to come and chat to us Overall for the price I felt that it was rather disappointing especially the quality of the steak and presentation

Bar+Block has never dissapointed me with their great service and even better food. Highly recommend! Customer service is perfect.

Would definitely recommend this establishment! Shah was very attentive and friendly, I would suggest a visit here to visit and try the bottomless brunch menu!

Had a great meal here with the kids whilst staying at the Premier Inn. Shah was our waiter and he provided an excellent service. Food was great, well priced for London and 2 for 1 cocktails as well!

Really lovely stay, absolutely will be staying here again

Very basic hotel with no fridge or options to even iron a shirt. Bed is very comfortable and tv was fine. Bathroom was small and compact shower was over bath and had a high side so awkward if you are not steady on feet or are short in stature. Shower with rain water head was a little low for me (6ft 2in) but water flow was good and temp consistent. Reception are helpful and expect if you need anything they will do their utmost to help.

Positives: + Great location for public transport connectivity being next to King's Cross station + Some decent bars, eateries and convenience stores nearby including a Costa on site and a Tesco Metro around the corner + Friendly professional staff, great check-in from Natalia + Modern, trendy atrium/lobby + Good soundproofing in rooms Negatives: - Terrible free WiFi, no doubt as an inducement to purchase paid 'Ultimate' WiFi. When spending £200 a night on a room I really don't expect such bad WiFi these days.

Nice hotel on arrival , good booking in system . Modern . Great for coming off the train Our experience here we couldn’t check in early on arrival when we was willing to pay . Which was ok we stored our luggage , upon arrival back to the hotel , we got given our room - 2 nd floor . Smell of urine in the corridor , the room hadn’t been cleaned glitter over the floor and hair . Bathroom damp No refilled tea and coffee . Strong odour of urine in the room , bluetack on the wall above the bed , the heater / air con wasn’t working . Couldn’t get the heat down it was boiling , the temp outside that day 27 degree heat and the windows don’t open . Went to reception to explain , sent a cleaner ( she arrived - just to pick the glitter off the floor and the hair with her hands . Maintence person arrived to say he can’t fix it brought two fans ( not ideal ) circulating hot air and very noisy. Went to reception explained we need to move. Told many times we couldn’t as they had no other rooms . Then we had finally got to move - room cleanish , air con works . No towels . We won’t be returning .

I recently had the pleasure of dining here and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The food and drinks were exceptional What truly set the evening apart, however, was the service provided by our waiter, Thomas (Tom). Tom was incredibly attentive and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the meal. We look forward to returning soon.

Jay was a very attentive and pleasant waiter. We enjoyed the steak and burger and tiramisu. The restaurant is part of the Premier Inn so very convenient.

Lots of choices on the menu, food was fresh and delicious, our server Jay was super helpful and very pleasant. It was quite busy but we didn't wait ling at all for our food/ drinks.

We wanted to sit in the bar area because we were ordering sharing plates, but were told we had to go to the restaurant for food. After we ordered our sharing plates, the waiter abruptly asked if that was all we were having. He then came back 5 minutes later and told us we had to sit in the bar (which is where we originally wanted to sit) because we hadn't ordered enough food. There was no help to move tables. When our food arrived, one of the sharing plates was stone cold and had to be sent back. The bill was then thrown at us before we'd even finished eating without asking if we wanted a dessert or anything else. All round, not a great experience.

Fun place for a delicious dinner whilst staying at the premier inn. Jay was the best waiter. He served us two nights running and was brilliant both nights. Professional, friendly, efficient and top notch service. Many thanks to Jay..he should be commended. Great energy and always vigilant to see who needed service. Well done and highly recommend

The hotel is very close too the station. The room was clean with fluffy bed and a spacious toilet. We checked at midnight. The staff mixed up our room with another group of guest, which costed a bit of time to make things right. We’re still quite satisfied with the service as the staffs were considerate, friendly and polite.

The location is very good. The cleanliness of the room was average, as there was a bit of dust. We only booked a regular room, and the WiFi didn't work at all. The room is very soundproofed. I live on the top floor and it's very quiet. The room is small and there is no refrigerator. Maybe we didn't arrive during the peak season and there was no queue to check in. In a place with high prices in London, this price is already very cost-effective.

Good location, several issues with room that went unattended (shower head stuck facing the wall, no toilet paper when arriving etc) also a struggle if you’re trying to sleep at any point as cleaning staff and general hotel staff walk around the halls talking to each other very loudly and scream at each other down the hall etc.

Always a lovely stay, nice rooms, very clean including public areas and very convenient for stations and sightseeing.

The shower was bad, unfortunately. Breakfast was fine.

We went for the bottomless brunch for a friends birthday. Great location, great food with proper sized portions. Mr Shah was so attentive without being intrusive, fabulous service. Would highly recommend. Great value.

Shah and his team have been exceptional throughout the day. We booked a boozy brunch and though initially slow to start they timed from our first drink and we were constantly topped up. The food was also great and was awesome value for money. Would definitely be back. Thanks to Shah and the team.

If you don't have many demands there The hotel is not bad, 2 steps from Kings Cross which connects you perfectly with all the areas, but the rudeness and antipathy of everyone I found at the reception left me speechless..

Overnight stay before VERY early train next morning. Got 6 hour's sleep before 0430 alarm call from night concierge!

Very average. Definitely not Premier Plus. As far as the room was concerned it was probably a Premier Minus. The bed was fine though. The one chair in the room was made of concrete. One chair! No safe! Which average hotel near an international railway doesn't have a safe?! No complimentary water. The toilet roll holder releases paper at almost a sheet per pull and then disappears. Unacceptable. The towels absolutely reeked of some really ghastly chemical that made me gag. One socket near the bed was broken. Not particularly great at over £200 a night. I ate in the restaurant which was very good and the service was excellent like all the staff there. The location is very good.

Another lovely visit to Bar+Block Kings Cross - we were served by Muhid, we have a few different dietary requirements and he made sure we were made to feel welcome and had a whole load of options and freedom - definitely coming again!!!

We stayed there for four nights in April 2024 and reserved 2 rooms. The hotel is located in a central and quiet location. 5 minutes from the train station and subway. The breakfast was very good. The beds were good. The room on the ground floor had no window and the only source of light was a wall with glass blocks. It was clean and functional. However, you had to register the room cleaning at the reception. Otherwise the room was not cleaned. Since our flight was postponed, we were unable to eat the breakfast we had booked in advance on the day of departure. The lady at the reception told us that the money had been refunded. However, this did not happen. In response to my written complaint, I was told that they would not refund us the breakfast for 4 people of £37, according to their terms and conditions.

The check in was very slow and didn't manage to check in the second room, had to wait for assistance. Then they said the second room was going to be on the 4th floor and I was on the 2nd. I then got an email saying that I'd booked a second room and been charged for it. The room was okay for one night, but it was very dusty and the noise of the outside fans kept me awake all night.

We stayed there for 2 nights in a family room (room 14) with our 2 children. The bedding is very good, the room was very clean and quiet. We were able to leave our suitcase on the first day to walk around getting off the Eurostar while waiting to have access to the room. The only negative point about this room was the fact that the window was a fixed bay, impossible to open and it was covered with a film with no visibility, which is a shame. Breakfast was very good (free for children!). Hotel very well located behind Saint Pancras station. We will return with pleasure!
