Bar + Block Steakhouse London Kings Cross in Islington

If you don't have many demands there The hotel is not bad, 2 steps from Kings Cross which connects you perfectly with all the areas, but the rudeness and antipathy of everyone I found at the reception left me speechless..

Overnight stay before VERY early train next morning. Got 6 hour's sleep before 0430 alarm call from night concierge!

A good comfy bed. A good location. Friendly staff.

Very average. Definitely not Premier Plus. As far as the room was concerned it was probably a Premier Minus. The bed was fine though. The one chair in the room was made of concrete. One chair! No safe! Which average hotel near an international railway doesn't have a safe?! No complimentary water. The toilet roll holder releases paper at almost a sheet per pull and then disappears. Unacceptable. The towels absolutely reeked of some really ghastly chemical that made me gag. One socket near the bed was broken. Not particularly great at over £200 a night. I ate in the restaurant which was very good and the service was excellent like all the staff there. The location is very good.

Business rooms are great and breakfast is good. Located directly at Kings Cross. Sometimes a bit loud in rooms towards the street.

We stayed there for four nights in April 2024 and reserved 2 rooms. The hotel is located in a central and quiet location. 5 minutes from the train station and subway. The breakfast was very good. The beds were good. The room on the ground floor had no window and the only source of light was a wall with glass blocks. It was clean and functional. However, you had to register the room cleaning at the reception. Otherwise the room was not cleaned. Since our flight was postponed, we were unable to eat the breakfast we had booked in advance on the day of departure. The lady at the reception told us that the money had been refunded. However, this did not happen. In response to my written complaint, I was told that they would not refund us the breakfast for 4 people of £37, according to their terms and conditions.

We came here for a family meal. It was a lovely experience. The service was excellent. Mixheal who was our host was very attentive, he had sure the food was served at the highest standard, pipping hot and fresh from the kitchen, he allowed us space to enjoy our meal however still checking that we were happy with the standards. We did not feel rushed to finish our meal. The food was a very very good standard. We enjoyed the surf and turf (compliments to the chef). We would highly recommend this restaurant. The food and atmosphere is amazing. Very good prices for the quality of food and service.

We came for bottomless brunch and Muhid was absolutely amazing, the moment a glass was half full more drinks were brought over so it literally was bottomless! The food was phenomenal, and such a lovely atmosphere. Thank you Muhid for being so friendly and making our brunch experience so amazing 👏🏻

Good stay, friendly staff, liked the fact they had a Costa and restaurant on site. Don't have to pay to leave luggage before check in. Only problem was the pillows, they were very uncomfortable.

The check in was very slow and didn't manage to check in the second room, had to wait for assistance. Then they said the second room was going to be on the 4th floor and I was on the 2nd. I then got an email saying that I'd booked a second room and been charged for it. The room was okay for one night, but it was very dusty and the noise of the outside fans kept me awake all night.

We stayed there for 2 nights in a family room (room 14) with our 2 children. The bedding is very good, the room was very clean and quiet. We were able to leave our suitcase on the first day to walk around getting off the Eurostar while waiting to have access to the room. The only negative point about this room was the fact that the window was a fixed bay, impossible to open and it was covered with a film with no visibility, which is a shame. Breakfast was very good (free for children!). Hotel very well located behind Saint Pancras station. We will return with pleasure!

Absolutely great experience today. Massive thank you to Naveen 5579 who looked after us for our bottomless brunch. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left he was amazing. He made us feel so comfortable and very welcome. He is a real credit to Bar & Block 😊 massive thank you, we will definitely re visit and hopefully be looked after by Naveen. A disappointing stay that cost more for a worse experience. Firstly, we are regulars, both in London, and at Premier Inns. On this occasion, due to the circumstances for our visit, we 'upgraded' to Premier Plus rooms for the 5 of us (2 + 2 + 1). The hotel is ideally situated on York Way, only a few minutes walk from King's Cross and St. Pancras stations. We arrived by car and there was, unsurprisingly, no space outside to drop off our stuff. Fortunately we had researched car parking in the area so drove round to the St. Pancras International short stay parking (GBP47.50 for 12-24 hours). Arriving back at the hotel the first impression in the lobby was that it was dusty and smelled of the smokers / vapers who congregate right outside the doors (a plea for the 9m rule that Canada has). Check-in should have been a simple process but the person checking us in could not seem to grasp that we wanted one key card for each person. We persevered and got the 5 cards we needed and this proved invaluable as key cards seem to be effectively single use as we needed to have them reprogrammed after every use - frustrating. The rooms are no different in size to those on other floors, the Plus status refers to the in-room Nespresso machine, mini-fridge, the access to Ultimate wi-fi, and irons and boards. Each room only had one set of a towels, so another set of trips to reception for extras. We had no wi-fi of any kind and reporting this to the front desk received a "yeah we all know about that, management knows about that" response. Faults happen, not a problem, but there was no recognition that this might impact a guest's stay - fortunately we did not need to work in the rooms on this occasion. Not that working in the room would have been a pleasant experience. In one room there was insufficient natural light to do anything without a light on. The (very dirty) window looked into the central atrium of the building but was obscured by the elevator shafts. This meant the room lights needed to be on at any time of the day, which then necessitated closing the curtains as anyone walking past from the lifts could see in. In effect we stayed in a windowless room. The other 2 rooms we had booked varied in size, with the single guest having the largest room! Even with lights on it still needed a phone flashlight to operate the room temperature controls and look through clothes hanging by the door. Without AC the rooms were stifling hot, but AC units pumped out hot air and needed resetting twice. One ironing board would only open to knee height and sloped off to one end. When a replacement was requested housekeeping came back to the room after 30 minutes to point out that the iron and ironing bard were just inside the door! The toilet seat in one room was loose and the hand soap dispenser was empty. The room with the obstructed view also suffered the impact of noise from the elevators on one side and a constant phone type message buzzing on the other from a "Team Members only" room. Do staff leave phones in here or something? We ate breakfast in the Bar + Block restaurant on both mornings and were well looked after - great to see the 25% First Responder discount too, thank you! In summary this Premier Inn needs to take a step back and look at the overall state of the place. Communications do not seem to be a strong point. Clean the windows, do some dusting, check the general provision of basic functionality, and you will make a big difference.

On arrival, we were greeted by a staff member who worked behind the bar. He showed us where to wait to be seated. Unfortunately we were then ignored by staff for more than 10 minutes when the same guy came back to us, because he saw us waving to staff to try to get their attention. Finally he could get the attention of a waitress to show us our table. She was very grumpy and didn't speak to us at all. Following that, thankfully another member of staff took care of us. She was smiling, very efficient and friendly. Drinks arrived quickly, followed by our main. We ordered Chateaubriand to share, but it was not cooked to our liking. Also, a part of the chips was undercooked and raw, spinach and mushrooms were absolutely lacking of seasoning and flavour. We could tell from the color of the mushrooms that they were not freshly cooked. Also, our dessert was a bit disappointing. The Churros were overcooked and too crunchy. Overall, a poor experience.

This is a great hotel right beside Kings Cross and St. Pancras Station. I've stayed at this hotel a few times and it's always been a great stay. There are lots of local restaurants. You're right at King's cross so you can go anywhere you want. It's a beautiful part of the city that's a little bit out of the way of the tourism, but perfect for those who want to spend some time here at a relatively low cost compared to other hotels.

Desperately needed a room one evening after my wife fell ill on the platform at st pancras and we had our 2 young children and loads of luggage with us returning from disneyland. The staff were super helpful and even told me to book the room on the website as it was a lot cheaper. The room was perfectly adequate for our needs, and checkout wasn't until 12 the next day, so it gave us plenty of time to get sorted the next morning.

I will not stay here again. Received email that you could request early check in for 10 pounds. Requested and told to come back later. Upon returning the lobby was full of tired depressed people trying to get a room as well. There was a man who appeared indigent sleeping on a chair in front of the lobby. If you wanted to speak to reception or ask a question, forget it, because there was always a long line at reception. The rooms are teeny tiny with no place to put luggage, no rack, so I propped my bag on a table and kept having to avoid stubbing my toe on the bed. The one man at reception was friendly and nice and the hotel is near Kings Cross Tube. The breakfast was good.

Ideally placed for arriving at King's X Station. Has a Costa coffee on site. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Restaurant mediocre with little choice for vegetarian diners. Rooms are the usual high standard you expect from Premier Inn.

Location was good considering we needed something close by St. Pancras. But let me tell you tell you what you're going to get staying here. The rooms were small considering the price, the bathrooms had hair leftover, the towels were stained, there were poop stains inside the toilet, and the water pressure was terrible. Also, there was a middle aged blonde lady who works the front desk that was just extremely rude and unpleasant over a question about getting a water bottle (if I cared to remember her name I would’ve wrote it here). Avoid and find something better.

Ugh, filthy - just had my room cost refunded and member of staff who operates the left luggage is a very disagreeable person - will never stay here again, and in addition my stay was refunded due to an infestation

Location is great, however the person on the desk upon arrival and departure was very rude, zero customer service, unpleasant and not attentive in the slightest. If you would like good customer service and a friendly face then this is not the hotel to stay at. Very disappointed and won’t be returning! The room was ok, but there were hairs left over the bathroom and dust from where the cleaners had removed their cloths as it was heaped on the toilet seat.

I went in last night excited for a steak and chips and have never experienced such atrocious service in all my life! So many staff walking about but none of them able to help customers! I waited for 4 mins by the door waiting to be shown to a table. I was then told I was waiting in the wrong place so then waited for another 7/8 minutes in another place. After 12 minutes of standing waiting for a table, I was sat down. I then waited 20 minutes for someone to take my order and after about 22 minutes got up and left. I was told by 2 people that someone else would take my order. Why don’t they have more than 1 out of 6 staff able to take orders!? After 30 minutes in this restaurant with no order being taken and not even any water brought to the table, I got up and left! Dreadful, dreadful service.

Disappointing.. Long queue to check in as the self-service machines were not processing payments, but there were no signs indicating these as 'out of order'. This meant we had to queue twice, once at the machines and again to see a member of staff, it took over an hour just to check in. Once in the room, it was not made up. We were then moved to another room, which we were told was definitely 'made up', to find that this one was also not made up.. Visted reception yet again to be told that they would send someone to make up the room, this took another 2 hours.. Whilst waiting at reception, there was a bucket collecting water leaking from the ceiling. Having stayed here before were expecting a much more professional reception, this was far from it.. Staff were simply on automatic, no empathy for the situation or basic professionalism.. just appalling..

We visited here for bottomless brunch and must say will definitely return! There were 7 of us and it was also my friends birthday. They made a lovely fuss of her, even supplying her a cake and some flowers. The food was superb and and we upgraded to the cocktails and the passion fruit martinis (aka p**n star martinis) were the best I’ve ever tasted. And even without asking they just kept us topped up. No waiting at all. Couldn’t fault this. And a special mention to Sandhy who really looked after us! Will definitely be back.

The worst service I’ve ever experienced. Arrived 7pm. Drink arrived 57 minutes later. Another hour for main courses to arrive. I pointed out that we hadn’t had our starters - so they brought them 10 minutes later (after the mains). It was absolute chaos. Everyone complaining. If they have no staff they shouldn’t open. All they are doing is ruining people’s nights. Absolutely appalling. Seriously terrible!

Stayed at the Premier Inn and bought the evening meal and breakfast meal deal. For the evening meal we waited 20 minutes just to get our drinks order taken. Food was just OK, but most of the main courses cost extra. We were first in for breakfast because we had a train to catch. The self service breakfast looked good but everything was cold, the plates, the food and the coffee.

Stayed here for 1 night as I had some official work. The highlight of the hotel is its location, just a few mins walk from Kings cross station which is very convenient if you are visiting London and need to travel. The reception area is vibrant and lively, with a Costa Coffee shop. The room was clean and spacious. The only feedback would be it had a bit of mould by the windows and the room could do with a good paint job. The only disappointment were the Reception staff who felt it was too much trouble to make eye contact when talking and had 0 customer service. A big let down.

Absolutely awful. Had the cheeseburger and chips and it was the most depressing plate of food I’ve ever had put in front of me. Service was slow and food was lukewarm at best when it finally arrived. My advice is to avoid at all costs.
