We went for the lunch deal, this is really good value, three tapas and a drink for £22. The food is genuinely delicious. Try the Motions chicken.

Extortionately priced tapas and mocktails. Nice food but berry mocktail was 90% ice! Would definitely not go there again. Rip off!

My first time at this delicious food place in Penarth. The menu has a variety of options, and friendly staff but the time we visited was a bit crowded and loud. Will go back again at a different time.

We didn't book a table, but we weren't eating, so they said we could have a table in the window which was booked in an hour. The service was excellent, professional and friendly. We would definitely return.

Lovely Spanish style bistro. We enjoyed the lunch Tapas, which I thought (3 Tapas and a drink) was a bargain for £20. The market fish was especially good. Would also recommend the sherry flight. Service was excellent.

Amazing experience! The food is DELICIOUS. It's easily in my top places I've eaten. The staff were so friendly and helpful. If you're ever in the area, make sure you treat yourself. There are lots of amazing vegan options.

We booked a table for 12 for a hen party on a Sunday lunch! We had the set party menu and we had a few vegetarians and vegans in the party. The food & service was outstanding. As a vegetarian I've never been to a tapas restaurant that's so delicious and caters so well for dietary requirements!! Everything was super fresh & hot! We will definitely be back when we are in Wales and I highly recommend this restaurant to any big groups! Thank you!!!

A perennial favourite for me. I love the Spanish lagers and there's always a lively buzz inside. Went recently with friends and had a good variety of great tapas too. The person who served us was brilliant: Attentive, funny and with some good suggestions of tapas to try. Overall a very good choice, whether for just a drink or a meal out.

Super welcome, and atmos. Diverse range of tasty tapas. We were table of six with a range of allergies from individuals. The lady who served us was Brill, really helpful and super personality. If you have room after tapas, the 'chocolate 7 ' desert is an amazing dichotomy of flavours. All in all, it was a super enjoyable lunch. 😊.

Absolutely delicious gourmet Spanish tapas, a gem in my opinion

Myself and a few friends visited on the weekend. Food was delicious, bar staff were very friendly and service was fast. When it came to the bill we noticed that we had been charged for 15 drinks instead of the 10 we ordered. When questioned we were told they had to check the cameras to prove it. The manager arrived at our table and said he had checked the camera footage and seen 15 drinks come to our table so we had to pay for the 15. Anyway long story short he couldn’t provide us with the evidence when we questioned it for the second time and gave us the smallest of apologies. No discount or consolidation was offered for the inconvenience which I believe, was the least they should have given for a bill over £200. Won’t be returning for a while unfortunately.

Great service and exemplary TAPAS

This place is a gem , the food is fresh , delicious and no delay , great chefs . We usually have a selection andvthis time had the orange and olive oil ice cream dessert , just wow absolutely mouth watering . The staff are really polite, well mannered and helpful. It has the best atmosphere around and 4 hours just flies by . No question my friends and I return and always enjoy.

Well this was an unexpected gem of a place. The food was great but was made amazing by the service. Watching the efforts of the kitchen and service staff was a treat but the exceptional service of Chris (deputy manager) made our evening. Thank you all for a lovely evening. We will be back!!

Good quality gourmet food. Spanish grown and cooking style. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Good bunch of Barristas. Fast service. Like all businesses times are hard but they have been determined to keep going. Indoors nice decor. Back roofed conservatory.

Had a great time out at Bar 44. It was a busy night but that contributed to a lively atmosphere. The table service was excellent, friendly with great recommendations for food, and the food was served in a timely manner. The food was also delicious. Had 5 dishes for the main course with some bread, which was delicious when dipped into the sauce from the shrimp! Well worth a visit! Looking forward to going back!

Wow, first came here 4 years ago when we were in Cardiff for the Rolling Stones and had a fabulous afternoon. Revisited yesterday and took 2 friends along. What can you say but WOW, fabulous food fabulous service and great ambience. Had a fabulous meal,great drinks, the team are truly incredible and totally put you at ease. Congratulations and thank you for a wonderful afternoon. We couldn't totally over indulge as we had booked to have dinner at Asador that evening. It so nice when you can say a business is superbly run by such a good team and made our visit so enjoyable.👏👏👏👏👏

Had a spectacular lunch here yesterday with 3 others. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it, from the Pan con Tomato to the potato braves, the croquettes, the pork belly - everything was spectacular. Very, very attentive staff who clearly enjoy their jobs. Well done everyone. We will be back! X

We had a very successful night out with 2 children. The food was varied enough for all of us to find something we liked, with good kids options as well as some experimentation. Our youngest moved between hangry to hyper throughout our visit, and everything in between, but the staff took it in their stride. I love tapas and we all enjoyed our evening.

My mum celebrated her 92nd birthday this week. We brought her to Bar 44 Penarth yesterday. She had never eaten Tapas before but she loved it! We had an amazing time. Huge thanks to Nick and his team once again!

Fantastic fusion of Spanish tapas with classic Sunday roast! We all loved it! The service was excellent too - so efficient. I need to return many times to work through the copas menu - so many tastes to explore! We'll be back again and again.

Food is incredible. Service at the bar can be slow (although good cocktails take time to make. OK if they are for you, not ideal if you just want a beer and glass of wine) but the service recieved is good and staff are friendly and welcoming.

Lovely venue with delicious food & wine. Badly let down by rude / condescending waiter. We asked if they had pinot Grigio - response was a disparaging look and “this is a Spanish restaurant”. He got the drinks order wrong, tried to blame the barmaid and wasn’t very nice the way he spoke to her. Asked for the price of a bottle of wine - response “don’t know, food is ordered through an app on my machine”. After 45mins we asked if food would be much longer - response “it’s tapas, it will come when it’s ready”. Pretty shocking. The General Manager however had a totally different manner, he was polite, professional and went out of his way to make you feel comfortable.

Consistently one of the best places to eat in Wales. Love all of the food, great Vermut and wine, the UVA44 red is delicious. Staff are always friendly. No point recommending certain dishes because it's all delicious.

Home to the Penarthian Yummy Mummy and older red-faced types swaggering around high on self-importance, pack earplugs. Otherwise, decent food, nice beer and an okayish wine list. Prices are above what you should expect to pay. Tapas is a traditional peasant dish from Spain, where it will include ingredients from the day's catch and is cooked fresh. At Bar 44 tapas has been redefined.

Booked Sunday lunch and had to move the booking several times. Nick emailed us quickly every time and did his best - we had a lovely table and a superb welcome. The meal was wonderful - the beef to share was fantastic, I cannot fault anything - tasty, different and an enormous amount of delicious food. The tapas were great too - bisque, croquettes, prawns, sticky chicken were incredible. The staff here deserve all the credit for their attention to detail and the love they show for the cooking of the food and the serving of it. Upon entering, one is immersed into an authentic experience where no detail is too small to be overlooked, from the cutlery holders to the staff attire. On repeated visits, we have found bar 44 to be flawless in every regard, particularly in respect to the culinary offerings. The attention to detail shines through with every bite, authentic ingredients used (at great expense) to enhance the taste sensation which results in consistently superb food. In an age where the current pressures are resulting in many establishments to, understandably, cut corners, it is refreshing to see that the impeccably high standards at bar 44 are maintained. The staff, Nick in particular, were impressively knowledgeable about the food, answering questions in intricate detail. The passion for the food and culture is evident from Nick's enthusiastic explanation of ingredients and dishes. Bar 44 really is an experience to be anticipated and savoured. Having visited many times, the adherence to high standards is commendable.

We've been to the bar 44 in Cardiff Centre loads of times as we love it, penarth was no different. We're both vegan, and the menu was great, they made sure to use vegan wine in our sangria, and our waiter recommended the artichoke, which was amazing, really nice a smoky.the whole meal was really reasonably priced, and we didn't feel rushed at all. The location is great, perfect after a walk along the pier, we'll definitely be back again at some point, thank you Bar 44 Penarth!

Good lunch, but watch out for the service charge of 10%. Not averse to tipping but dislike it when discretionary amounts are added.

Another fantastic experience at Bar 44. The atmosphere is always great, service was very good and the food is fantastic. The sobrasada on toast is a personal favourite and we really loved the cider poached Leon chorizo. We were there for a family birthday and the children’s menu looked amazing too.

Visited this wonderful restaurant for the Sunday roast. Food was amazing as usual but what really is top notch here it’s the staff: attentive, friendly and very patients with kids. Hospitality at its best. Can’t recommend enough.

Had the most lovely dinner here this evening. Absolutely fantastic food and really lovely service. Would especially recommend the patatas bravas, roast artichoke and the chocolate mousse! My first ever time at Bar44 and it certainly won’t be my last! The food was amazing, it came out so quickly and still piping hot and the service was excellent too!

Excellent, spacious tapas restaurant. Staff at top notch. Attentive and friendly. Food was all high quality and quick service just before peak time. Very good from a covid-secure perspective. Highly recommend this place if you're in Penarth.
