Baqueano in Brighton and Hove

This is a true authentic gem in Brighton. The steaks were unbelievably good, the service was perfect and they went the extra mile with the children in our group. Would highly recommend !

Wow! Truly great food and atmosphere. We had lost hope for eating out, but this experience has lived up to expectations. We came with our kids. We had prawns and the sweetbreads to start, amazing! Then the fillet and rib-eye along with chicken- all of the best quality. One of the best things was the enthusiastic service and welcome, just so nice to see a smile and some passion. Try it you won’t be sorry.

We have been wanting to visit this restuarant for a while now but it has always been booked up, we managed to visit on Saturday and was completely blown away with the quality of the food and service. the steaks were of excellent quality and cooked to perfection, it is now 'The' best steak restaurant we have ever visited to date. The owner also mentioned another business they own in Duke Street, Brighton called 'Malo', we were so impressed with our meal we decided to visit on Sunday and again extremely tasty empanadas (pastries). Thank you for your service and we will be back soon.

Visited Baqueano, a quaint family run restaurant, for a birthday meal and was blown away by the best steak I've had in years. Adriana made us feel very welcome and attended to. We chose the Bife de lomo and Ojo de bife as mains and were not disappointed. Absolutely delicious.

Excellent place, run by its own owners, they are very friendly and helpful, the food is extraordinary, the meat is of very good quality, I recommend it if you want to eat delicious meat.

We visited for our anniversary and were made to feel welcome right from the start. Birthdays and special occasions aside, we're not regular diners but I think it's the best service we've ever received. There is a variety of food choices but the ribeye steak, in particular, was absolutely phenomenal. Great atmosphere and great, friendly people. Very pleased and will definitely be returning! What, a wonderful experience. The food is authentically Argentinian, and you can tell there’s a lot of dedication and hard work. We loved the empanadas, and the meat was exquisite. The service was top-notch, Adriana was very kind and friendly. We’ll be back very soon!

This place it’s so good we went here and decided to go for the tasting menu, it was definitely a journey a beautiful journey with dishes from Argentina; It was hour first time in a Argentinian restaurant and it was just perfect, there’s a starter, a pre main, the main course it’s steak heaven and when you think it’s done they still bring a plate with Argentinian traditional deserts that blow your mind! What an experience. Go there and be in heaven. Great service also thru all the meal big shout to all the Baqueano team! Thanks a million.

Amazing food and amazing service. I'm from Argentina and it really felt like being back home for a moment. When waiters/ waitresses bring the food to you, they explain in detail what they are serving and that makes the experience really unique. The quality of the meat is incredible and please please try the empanadas. They are probably one of the best I've ever tried in my life (and being from Argentina you can imagine I've tried thousands of empanadas before 🤣) Thank you so much to Adriana and Carlos for being so friendly and warm to every person at the restaurant, that really represent well how people are back in Argentina too ❤️

Baqueano is the best restaurant I've been to in Brighton and probably in the UK. The steak served is exceptional and we've tried the whole menu. Adriana and her team are extremely friendly and kind, they also certainly know what they're talking about when it comes to the food. If you are looking for an elegant, romantic, not overpriced and exceptionally good restaurant then this is the one!

This is a great restaurant. Small but a really good atmosphere there. Friendly, professional and welcoming staff. The food is slightly more than the average steak house would charge but definitely worth the extra price. Booking beforehand advisable as very popular. I would definitely go there again.

We had the steak tasting menu with the regular wine option and it was the kind of lunch that puts you out of commission for a day or so. Great food, well cooked, and the accompanying wines were superb. Enough calories to stun a donkey, but worth it.

We booked for my husband’s 60th birthday party and everyone had a brilliant time. We were a party of 26 and everything was perfect. The food was amazing as usual, and the staff were excellent. Adriana was great at helping with the planning and everything went like clockwork. I can’t recommend this lovely restaurant highly enough.

I would give more than 5 stars if I could! I'm not a beef person and already have dinner, but the reviews say this place has the best steak in Brighton, so I want to try it. I'm glad I did! The ribeye steak was outstanding. It's tender, juicy, and melts in your mouth. I also love the dessert too. I can't remember the name, but you can see from my image. Besides, all staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Went here for my birthday. Great place and atmosphere, family owned and all the staff were very friendly and accommodating, particularly as we had booked the next day by accident. Steaks were cooked to perfection, portions plenty and the tomato and onion salad a great acompliment to share. Postre Baqueano (spong pudding) to finish was amazing. We had excellent cocktails, olives, starters, bottle of wine, main meals and side dishes. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Fabulous steak and empanadas! I ordered takeaway, which they typically don't do, but they graciously allowed since I showed up before the dinner crowd. My server was very friendly and attentive. I asked for his recommendation of how to cook the steak, and he wrote "chef's choice" and the steak came out absolutely perfect. One of the best steaks I've had in a long time. They give generous portions of meat and potatoes. That, along with the house-made empanada to start (also delicious! I wish I got more for later), filled me up. It's not a cheap place, but you certainly get what you pay for in flavor, quantity, and quality of service.

The service at Baqueano is friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious and beautifully presented. They just celebrated their 5-year anniversary, and they keep getting better. They made it a birthday to remember with a special dessert plate. Highly recommend for a great dining experience!

Had a family birthday meal here and it didn't disappoint! The food is top notch (and priced accordingly, but so worth it!) and the service is fantastic - friendly, helpful, but not overbearing. First time having chimichurri sauce with anything and now I need it with EVERY meal..!! It's not a particularly cheap dining option, but for the quality of the meat, it's definitely worth it! Will be back!

Mixed starter plenty for two and good selection of dried meat, olives, cheese etc. My wife and I both had fillet steak cooked perfectly. Meat was so good didn't need blue cheese sauce. Roasted veg really good to. Excellent friendly service. Only dropped one point on atmosphere because there was a large party in when we arrived and it was a bit noisy to talk but ok after they left. No reflection on restaurant

The waiter Carlos was lovely very attentive and very helpful explaining what the diffrent foods where. The food was amazing would deffinatly recommend this restraunt to anyone who wants to try Argentinian food.

Seriously great food! Ribeye steaks were the best we’ve ever had - so tasty and tender - delicious! We also had the creamy garlic mushrooms and a wonderful Chocototta desert; cookies, ice cream and cream cheese - so good!!! We had a late, short notice booking but the staff were all attentive and very friendly. Highly recommended!

I like steak and I've eaten a lot of steaks but I've never had a steak in the UK as good as the one I've just had at Baqueano's. If you like steak you have to go here. A truly wonderful find (and the lady who runs and her daughter are also wonderful).

Everything was 10/10. We had the tasting experience for 2 and it was great getting to try so many different things. The service was very attentive and there was a very relaxed atmosphere. Big shout out to our main server, Carlos! The steak was the best I’ve ever had, the skirt in particular was the most flavoursome I’ve ever tasted. We will 100% be back and will continue to visit their empanada store, Malo.

This restaurant was excellent. If I had the money I'd be there every week. The food was perfection, visually stunning and a taste explosion. I had the fillet steak which came with three different sauces, which were all delicious and I ordered the blue cheese sauce too which was very tasty. Too many times I've ordered chips with steak and they have been awful, not at Baqueano, they were perfect. The wine was also excellent, and the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. The icing on the cake was the puddings, very rarely do restaurants put any effort into their puddings these days, they are normally an after thought, bought in frozen, tasteless and boring. Baqueano make their own puddings and you can tell, absolutely delicious. This is the first time I've been, and I had such a lovely meal I can't wait to go back.

Baqueano Is the real deal. Incredible 45 days aged Angus steak which was cooked to perfection. Crispy on the outside and medium. The side dishes were very well seasoned. Great friendly team that make you feel extremely welcomed.

I have lived in Brighton and Hove for 15 years and I can honestly say this is the best restaurant for steak around. The service cannot be faulted, you are treated from the owners to team members with every person that greets you being knowledgable about the food and drink menu with a genuine interest about what you would enjoy and what would suit you the most. The steak melts like butter, the wine selection is superb and everything is made better by the team who care about you having a brilliant time. If you go anywhere in Hove/Brighton…go here.

This restaurant is phenomenal. Very small by US standards by the steaks are out of this world. I had an empanada with beef that I could have ordered many of them and made a great meal. But the filet and rib eye that the two of us had was melt in your moth and prepared to perfection.

Without being dramatic the steak here is 10/10. Special mention to Carlos, who guided us through a very special meal. The filet steak had a caramelised char which is extremely unique and the chimicurri mash is something you have to experience. Truly unique Thank you so much - a truly special experience

We went for the taster menu with wine and what a beautiful dinner. Great value for money and amazing food. They explained what each course was, the wine that went with it and the flavours. I have never been to Brighton or an Argentinian restaurant so this was a new experience. I can honestly say that I have never had customer service or service as good as I experienced as today. We asked for an explanation on wine, food and how to have my steak cooked. The staff were very friendly and the choices that they advised were perfect. The Ferlino wine that was recommended was perfect and as for the steak it was cooked to perfection. Dessert was also delicious and if we went back we would have exactly the same again. It is a small restaurant but I felt very well looked after. Fabulous birthday treat x

My brothers, sister in laws and myself all came to Baqueano this evening It was nothing shy of incredible! We had Carlos as our server, the loveliest and funniest man! We had such a lovely time The service was extremely fast, only waited around 10 minutes in between starter and main! They always made sure our water was topped up and our food was okay We all had steak and it was defiantly the best we have ever had And to top it off, it was one of our birthdays and they brought out a small cheesecake for the birthday girl! We would 1000% come back to Brighton just for another meal! Thank you Carlos and the rest of the team for making our evening so wonderful

Visited Friday evening as a large table of 10 for my boyfriend’s birthday. It was the first time we had been after having read good things online and I must say this little restaurant is spectacular. I always struggle with steak restaurants due to my partner and a lot of his friends being farmers therefore harsh critiques however I cannot fault this place. The starters were all stunning leaving everyone very excited for the mains (9 steaks) all steaks were cooked perfectly and of amazing quality. Also very large streaks reasonably priced for such quality. Service was extremely quick efficient and friendly which was also lovely. Already making plans to return!

My wife and I visited Baqueano on Friday 5th April for lunch and had a lovely chill out time whilst enjoying the “Journey Through Argentina” taster menu. Having changed our original plans, due to a different Argentinian restaurant not opening at lunchtime, we were not disappointed. The restaurant is quite minimalist in its appearance and very relaxing with quiet music playing in the background. The service felt the right level of attentive with very friendly staff, and delicious food served throughout. From the sharing platter with small bites to start, followed by traditional Argentinian pasties, sausage and black pudding, through to the perfectly seasoned and cooked steaks and ‘let’s finish you off’ desert platter, it was worth every penny. Compliments to the kitchen as we felt the food was exceptional. My wife was hooked on the spicy Margaritas which equated to nearly a third of the bill 😂 Thank you Baqueano for a lovely experience and we will definitely be revisiting in the very near future.
