Bao Kitchen in City of London, Westminster

Great pit-stop while shopping in Harrods, authentic Chinese street food and good to share amongst friends/family. Dishes are really good size, so good value for money.

Excellent food and service. The food was really delicious. Layout and restaurant is elegant and stylish.

Outrageously overpriced for the portion size 1 prawn for £28 in the main course and an overall bill for some £195 plus for very little food. Usually love the restaurants in Harrods and whilst they are all expensive, this is the first time I feel that we were taken for a ride. In fact people were complaining on adjoining tables about it. The food itself (what there was of it) was tasty, but will definitely not be going back. And do not like the fact that they bought rice and noodles out whilst we were still eating our meagre starters and let it sit there getting cold before my one prawn main and my husbands steak appeared. I also fell that for nearly £200 I don't want to be rushed in and out in under an hour. Also had Kir Royale each, probably one of the worst ones ever,was like drinking overly sugared cherryade. Service was also mediocre (except for the one lovely girl who cleared our table) A very disappointing experience.

Estuve allí con mis 4 años y mis padres que tienen alrededor de 70. Vimos una mesa vacía y le preguntamos a la recepcionista si estaba reservada o disponible de inmediato. Honestamente, la recepcionista fue la mujer más grosera que he visto y ella simplemente no sabía qué buena manera era. Ella trató a mi padre como un niño de primaria que hizo algo mal, no respondió a su pregunta sino que lo señaló a la esquina para esperar. Harrods es una marca de lujo. Es realmente una pena que tenga un restaurante tan bajo en su edificio.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a close friend. We were grateful he shared this gem with us, as the food was really impressive! We felt like a lot of care and effort was put into the presentation and the taste, which really pays off! Authentic food with great flavours!

I have never seen soup served in such small portion - you could barely have four small spoons of that soup. It only included three tiny prawn dumplings but no vegetables or anything else. Totally overpriced.

Maybe it is a cultural thing to have slow service at Bao Kitchen. I thought the food was ok, not great. The slow service was painful. Would not go back. Harrods is normally a mark of quality. Not in this case.

Food is good, but not excellent. Service is polite if a bit slow. Crispy noodles expensive at GBP 23. Poussin at 18 GBP still not cheap but better value. Atmosphere is impersonal, no character. A good stop if you are shopping at Harrods but nothing special.

While shopping at Harrods, my daughter read on the Harrod's booklet that their Bao Kitchen offers rainbow dumpling, and she wanted to try it. So we went and after sitting down, we discovered that the rainbow dumpling was not even on the menu. So we ordered other items (one house fried noodle, one duck wrap, and one dumpling platter) which cost about 100 pounds. The foods were not impressive, and the portion were extremely small. We felt so hungry after the meal that we had to go for an afternoon tea in another restaurant.

From my understanding, this restaurant has only recently just opened, in Harrods. I am so glad I visited it, as you would think it had been opened for years. The staff were very professional, polite and efficient! Food was absolutely amazing and cooked to perfection! We were all very impressed!

We ate here as the restaurant we wanted to eat in in Harrods was closed but I'm so glad it was because Bao Kitchen was beautiful! The staff were lovely and knowledge about the menu was very good. Food was so good and service was excellent!
