Foods and drinks are fantastic and lovely . Excellent service provided by Pramad (hope I didn’t spell his name wrong). A very lovely and talkative Nepalese gentleman. Very considerate, polite and proactive!

Delicious food and authentic chaat options! We went for the aloo tikki chaat, vada pav and chilli chicken momos - all were excellent. Quick service and ambience was great, totally recommend a visit!

Spectacular food, careful and attentive service. We ordered the menu of a starter and a main each (there were two of us) and a glass of wine each. We had the Dal Shorba soup and chicken chat for starters and chicken tikka and the vegetable Korma for mains. Plus a bowl of rice and plain nan bread (huge!!!). We paid £44.98. Pornima attended us, a charm!!!

Bantawala is a fantastic Indian restaurant. It can be difficult finding authentic Indian food outside of India. Bantawala made us feel right at home - from atmosphere to food to staff. Brilliant service! Excellent staff- Dylan’s grand welcoming vibe to Pramod’s delicious cocktails/mocktails to Poornima and Liyah’s warm service. Best place for Indian food in Glasgow!

Updating my review to appreciate this place once more :) Seriously amazing food and lovely service! Hands down, this is one of my favourite Indian restaurants ever! The food is absolutely delicious and they have a lot of variety (especially a fan of the street food dishes). Staff has always been very nice and it's very affordable.

Superb lunchtime curry. We both had the red lentil and coconut soup which was stunning in flavour. We also had a curry each. Again, the depth of flavours are wonderful. Highly recommend.

We order regularly from Bantawala. It’s our favourite Indian takeaway. Ordered a new selection of main dishes this time. Really good.

Ingredients of the meal are good quality but everything is too spicy hot to be enjoyable, including the pakora - and we've been eating curry for decades. Delivery time spot on as usual though - excellent.

Was in here the other night food wasn't great had south Indian was probably 1 of the worst .Had to wait 20 mins b4 they cleared the table and embarrassingly asked us to leave as we need the table NOW shocking when there was people there longer than us ....won't be back loads of other respectful businesses out there

We indulged in a variety of dishes—Vada Pav, Chicken Chaat, Dahi Golgappa, and for the main, Chicken Tikka with curry sauce and masala chips. The Vada Pav was hands down the best I’ve had in Glasgow—simply perfect! The Chicken Chaat, though, leaned a bit too sweet for my liking, and the masala on the chips was overwhelming—it made us cough quite a bit. That said, the service was top-notch, and we had a wonderful time overall. The interior was a true celebration of Indian vibes, adorned with stunning artwork that added so much character to the experience.

Tonight must've been an off night. The fish pakora and the channa puri were awful. Both had a burnt spice taste that completely overpowered any other flavour. Disappointing.

A Group of 10 of us took advantage of their pre-Christmas dinner. £25 for a big plate of mixed pakora, which was delicious. Chicken bhuna for mains. Deal included rice, nan & poppadoms/spiced onions. Then gollajam and ice cream for dessert. Absolutely excellent deal and with everyone enjoying their meal, it's certainly one our group will go back to, in the future.

8 of us visited for new years day lunch. Every body was very happy with the food they chose. The person who had the tikka masala said it was one of then best they had eaten in a long time. However as they had only recently opened that day, the older people in our group did find the resturant a little chilly. Next time I'm up in Glasgow in a couple of months I look forward to exploring the menu more, espesally the 'street food' options.

I did not have a reservation but walked in and was offered a table immediately. My waiter was Pramod and he is excellent and attentive. The food was wonderful (albeit a little spicy) . I would definitely recommend the place…

Fantastic food, Love the Vada Pav

Went for a walk in the West End yesterday, seeing as it was a bit 🌶️ we decided to go for something warming and headed into Banta Wala on Byres Road. They do a 2 course lunch for £10.95 with a fantastic selection of options, various add ins and upgrades for a £1 supplement. We went for -Aloo Tikka Chaat (one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten, with all the chutneys 🤤) -Chicken Pakora (£1 supp) -Chicken Korma - Lamb Bhoona (£1 supp) -Saffron Rice -Garlic Coriander Nan 😍 (£1 supp) All of food was fresh and delicious, from the light crispy nan bread to the outstanding flavour punch of the aloo tikka… dynamite. We had a look at the main menu and the pricing is very reasonable for both food & drink outwith the lunch deal… we decided there and then we would be back again for another spicy midweek pakora party. Great value, nice atmosphere with friendly staff and unreal food. Total Bill £28 with a pint of diet coke and an 🧊 water.

Amazing authentic Indian food in the middle of west end! Everything was seasoned to perfection. Would highly recommend it to everyone. Everything we ordered was so delicious and we cannot wait to be back. Amazing service and really lovely ambiance as well 😊💯 Samosa chaat was my absolute favorite, paired with the mango lassi 🤤🤤

Bantawala is in a league of its own- no other Indian restaurant even comes close. Welcoming ambiance, traditional decor and subtle indian music playing in the backgound.The flavours here are unmatched, bringing authentic indian cuisine right to the table. Everything we tried was bursting with fresh spices and perfectly cooked. If you are looking for delicious indian food that hits all the right notes, this is the place!

The food wasn’t good at all. The Aaloo Tikki had too many raw fennel seeds that it was unbearable to eat. We gave specific instructions about chaat but they forgot it when getting our food. Food wasn’t authentic. Staff was friendly.

If I could rate this higher it would be 10 stars, the one pot curry from here is top notch 100% real deal,, one of the best I’ve had,,, good prices with excellent fast courteous delivery,, brilliant, highly recommended, thankyou

This is truly the go-to spot in Glasgow for casual chats and incredible Indian food. It brings me back to India, where I can stop by any evening chats for favorites like pani puri, vada pav, and pav bhaji. The service is outstanding, making you feel right at home. A must-visit restaurant! My top pick here is the keema mutter paired with egg rice—an amazing combination after a long day when cooking isn’t an option. Easily the best Indian restaurant in Glasgow!

Recently dined here but while the food was good, the service was not so much thanks to one particular server named Poornima (?). Poornima was condescending right the moment we sat down from the start, especially when we chose not to order from the Pre-Theatre menu. We simply wanted to browse the full menu first, but her attitude suggested this was an inconvenience. Her cold demeanor continued throughout the meal, which really ruined the experience. Final straw was when we asked if the restaurant offered any student pricing while paying the bill. Instead of simply answering the question, Poornima rudely informed us that we should have "made that known before ordering." My bad for not knowing there's an unwritten policy that students need to declare their status beforehand! To top it off, after this exchange, she had the audacity to speak loudly to her colleagues about our group, suggesting that because we were young, we might not be able to afford our meals. It was humiliating and very unprofessional. I can’t recommend this restaurant less if you care about service. Certainly won't be returning.

On 16/10/2024, we visited Bantawala in Glasgow and enjoyed the delicious food and starters. The service was excellent, thanks to Dylan (manager), Purnima, and Liya. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it.

This place is really amazing. There are lot of restaurants in this area now but the masala twist is really unique. The food quality is top notch and portion served also good. Best Indian food in whole of Glasgow.

The butter chicken was very tasty. Just right in terms of spiciness and sweetness. The Naahn breads for 3.50 are above average in size. The food came quickly and the service is very courteous and friendly.

One of the best Indian food I had outside of India. Especially the naan was exceptional! They offer food from various regions in India, the curries are tasty (could be more spicy) and the portions are big.

Delicious as always. I will say however that £7.50 for 3 prawns is a a bit steep, could’ve done with 4 or 5. I order just about every weekend but probably will not order the prawns again, even though they were amazing, sorry guys. Everything else is perfect. Great food and excellent service.

I’ll be moving out of Glasgow soon and I just wanted to thank you for all the wonderful meals. Bantawala is one of the best South Asian restaurants i’ve eaten at in the UK and one of the few where i’ve found Rajasthani Laal Maas!

Went for business lunch today had one of the best Indian food ever wow a Mumbai street food starter with puffed rice quite hot but so tasty 😋 Neva has in any Indian restaurant and Peshwari naan ever so fresh and poornima was an excellent waitress and very informative o er the dishes a definite must in byres and reasonable too will definitely 💯 b back thank you 🙏

What can I say, absolutely delicious food, great service, decor. The kingfisher beer is lovely too. Lunchtime special, £11 for two substantial courses, delicious. I'll definitely be back, that's for sure.

Recently visited this restaurant which was my second visit and I loved it at both the times. All the staff members are friendly, welcoming and provide excellent service. All the dishes which I tried here were really good. Only thing about the food - the tomatoes used in the curries has strong flavour and tastes like canned tomatoes which can be switched to the fresh ones for improved flavours and taste.

If you like burnt food in the name of crispy food then you can visit this place else choose restaurant better than bantawala by masala twist. Bantawala has spoiled the name of Masala Twist. I ate burnt dosa with burnt chana dal (fried too much to make it black chana daal god knows who eats burnt chana daal)
