We were turned down from entering the pub as we had a new born baby, stating the ban on the under 21 rule. Pregnancy and maternity leave are protected characteristics, the Bank of Friendship violated our rights and the Equality Act 2010. When questioned on this “rule” we were informed the owner doesn’t like dogs or children. We had a three week old baby. It was discriminatory to turn us away based upon this.

Guy behind the bar was alright, but the guy who I believe was the owner was rude and dismissive. The interior, chairs, tables, decor is the same as it was 30 years ago. I guess shabby chic is cheap? I Won’t be visiting again, because they don’t allow dogs, Next will be no Irish (it’s an ex Irish pub)

Told by some bar staff it was fine to bring my dog in, to then be told I can’t after I ordered a beer. Cheers

A young lad collapsed in the pub tonight and the bar staff were more concerned with serving beer to more people. I tried to bring this to the attention of the bar staff who were not interested, in particular a young lady with a Spanish sounding accent was particularly rude and aggressive when I tried to attract her attention to the problem. Manager absent no where to be seen. This lad could have died for all they cared!

First arsenal womens game of the season , website says open at 12. Someone inside messing around despite a 50-100 person queue. No sign to say we’re opening late or whatever. Messed everyone around for a long time. Not a good look because you know for the mens game they’re ready to go. Quarter past we gave up and went to the gunners.

Absolutely disgusted and embarrassed by the treatment of staff here. Came here on the queens jubilee at 4pm and got refused entry because I had my 8 year old daughter. They also debited £150 from my account for a bottle of wine and 2 beers. We travelled from Wales for the weekend and have never experienced such discrimination. The bar man told me it was standard procedure to not allow a child in at 4pm. The rudeness of staff was unbelievable and their incompetence in not being able to type in the correct amount for drinks just shows they’re lack of education and stupidity.

Everything I want from a pub. Excellent staff, serve quickly and they have the proper gift of instinctively knowing who is next. Lovely pint of Guinness. You can order delicious pizza directly to the pub from Yard Sale just down the road and they deliver for free. It has a huge and nice beer garden. Probably best to avoid on a match day unless you are a Gooner. If you are a Gooner, go here, best match-day pub by miles.

What can I say more than this is the ideal pub; doesn’t allow kids, no gastro food, no chatty staff, great carpet, great selection of lagers and no pretentiousness, 5 star establishment!

Really like the atmosphere, went on a Wednesday evening after work. Nice chimney, quite and relaxing, exactly what I needed!! One one downside, the prices for the beer are a little bit expensive.

Such a cosy and warm pub with a beautiful garden! Highly recommend it! For a hot summer night or even a cool crisp evening under the heaters with your own booths!

Very poor dingy place, they have the worse front of house service, a miserable bloke with a goatie. Very much made to feel unwelcome. never again - they falsely claim they do food.

We have been coming to this pub for a few years since we moved into the area. Always been great service and great choice of food. The Ladies toilet was awful (to say the least) and the great outside space was really tired BUT, they recently added extra ladies toilets and did an amazing garden makeover. It is now our pub of choice, especially over the amazing summer we have had as we have never found it difficult to find a table in the garden.

Use to be a great local ‘proper’ pub. Unfortunately another new owner and the cool brigade have moved in and it’s now just another hipster place.

This is literally the cutest pub ever small and cosy drinks are not over priced and the music isn’t so loud you can’t hear your friends. Would recommend them investing in some new stools and some of the seats need reinforcement or refurbishment. 8/10

Stopped off on a wet and wintry Sunday afternoon to find Hygge Boogie in full swing. A hot gin punch by the fire with chilled out tunes was just the ticket to warm us up.

Comfortable local with a nice roaring fire, not catering to hipsters or gastropub land but welcoming to all (except on arsenal match days ;-)!) Decent ales, if limited choice.

Spit and sawdust type, but in a good way.Reasonable selection of ales, which was the prime reason for going, although i did debate with the bar staff as to whether one of my pints should have been quite so 'opaque' (shall we say!).No pretentions, live music and outdoor seating.

I think this is the best pub in Highbury. There's a lot of pubs in Highbury: the upmarket Highbury Barn; the downmarket Drayton Arms with its billard table up on breeze blocks; the Arsenal-mad Gunners; the hipsterish Woodbine; and then you have the tiny Compton Arms, the Hope and Anchor where the Pistols played; the Horatia where the Arsenal fans gather before the home games, the scary Robinson Crusoe, the try-hard Alwyne Castle, the Wetherspoons style White Swan, the sleazy Famous Cock, and more. But if you really want to settle into a banquet seat with a pint of Pride to watch an Arsenal away match on a dodgy stream from Poland, with your mates around you, and a bag of crisps torn open on the table to share - perfection! - then the Bank of Friendship is the place to go. You'll be sharing with frail old geezers, the local champagne socialists, some wide boys and a host of others, but this is the place I go when I fancy a pub night, or a pub afternoon, every time.

First time I visited (Jan ‘25) I had porridge. I ordered blueberries and strawberries. Unfortunately the strawberries were not available but the friendly staff offered a substitution and so chose bananas. The portion was a good size and very filling. The staff were very friendly. I returned today (May ‘25) and had a large cooked breakfast. It was really nice, well cooked. The staff again were very friendly and attentive. I would definitely return.

We've dined at Vinoteca Farringdon a couple of times, both times enjoying excellent food and interesting wine. We like the informality, the quality and the service.
