The food was lame and tasted poorly. The service was extremely bad. Overall very disappointing!

One of the worst takeaways Ive ever ordered. The Beef and Chicken “curries” (if It could even be considered that) we ordered were literally just a waterey soup. Unflavorful, and the cuts of beef were weird brisket cuts and not the stirfry kind you would expect. The peanuts were just whole and had no good roasted flavor. The chicken curry was equally watery, and the chicken tasted pre-cooked and crumbly and dry despite being soaked in the flavorless “curry” soup… God awful Thai. Maybe the noodle based meals could’ve been better, but Im too scared to try anything else from there now

Service impeccable: food just beautifully presented and the flavours were delicious- better than the average for sure. My only comment would be to leave the light on in the ladies loo - I couldn’t find the switch - it was pitch black and I got anxious trying to find my way out - panicked!! We will definitely be using this again - a 5 minute walk away for these new arrivals to SaffRon Walden

Have had multiple takeaways from here now and have never been disappointed. Absolutely delicious Thai food. Our favourite dishes have been the Panang Nue & the Pad Thai Goong. We also get the Gai Satay a lot - all very, very tasty. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly when I pop in to collect, which I really appreciate - makes you feel like a valued customer. Would highly recommend Bangkok Thai Restaurant to any Saffron Walden locals.

To be clear this review is based on my experience of trying to get a Gluten Free meal for my wife. We understand this is not always easy but we put are heads in and explained the situation and was given the impression there was plenty of options. There was no separate menu but again the we were told to choose and it could mostly be adapted. When they took the order it became apparent that very little could be adapted and my wife's dinner was a very bland chicken and rice meal. She would not come back for this food. For balance, I had a Pad Thai and it was lovely. There was one other group in there and the overall atmosphere was subdued.

It was OK, bit greasy and not as flavoursome as most other Thai restaurants.

Started with Thai fish cakes and spring rolls which were delicious but the chicken cashew was bland and same for the curry. Plus it was clearly Turkey and not chicken as advertised.

Fantastic, authentic Thai food, with great service. Cosy laid-back atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Ordered a massaman curry. It was flavourless and extremely watery. Family members also commented on lack of flavour and greasy chicken for the pad Thai. Really disappointed with this meal.

Dine in once, food was good. Ordered a takeaway, whole order was absolutely cooked with low quality produce, no flavour and chicken must have been added from frozen, rock hard no flavour at all. Rice overcooked. Soup had rock hard pieces of ginger not edible should have been strained off. From starters to mains, very disappointing!

Fantastic. Have used twice in last month for takeaway. High quality food, plenty of it. Good range, easy to place order online. Will visit soon to dine in.

Really lovely restaurant, great effort has gone into the decorations and making it look authentic. Food is brilliant and really affordable and the staff are so kind. I will be recommending this place to people I know.

Worst take away I think I’ve ever had. We usually love Thai food but this was awful. We ordered 2 different noodle dishes and they tasted the same - no flavouring, bland and very much like it had been reheated from previous days. My duck was dry, very over cooked, and the vegetables it was served with were so over cooked they were black, crispy and bitter. Very expensive too. We will not be returning - disgusting food.

Love what they've done with the venue. The decorations are clearly Asian inspired and warm themed. Food and service were very good too at a good price point. Highly recommended

Lovely food & very friendly. One of my favourite places in Saffron Walden. We liked the deep fried duck, panang gai (sorry if spelt wrong), egg fried noodles and sweet and sour pork.

Updated: still, the Bangkok Thai remains one of the warmest and friendliest restaurants in Saffron Walden. Delicious, authentic Thai food, for all tastes, served promptly and with genuine style. One of the great survivors in town.

Went in with husband for two course lunch. Had tom yam and pad thai. It was very good. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Everything clean and nice. Thank you very much. Thoroughly recommended.

Ordered a take away. Order stated 40 mins so I timed my 24 minute drive. Received a call as I got in the car to say it was ready in 5 minutes!!! I told them no, I have a 24min drive! Food was awful. Tamarind duck tasted burnt and no sauce. Noodles unseasonal and no flavour. Prawns cooked from frozen? No bite just mushy. Tom yum soup no flavour or spice. This meal was an expensive mistake.

Had a beautiful meal here, friendly staff and gorgeous authentic food, can't wait to go back.

Lovely selection of starters, tempura prawns and mixed satay (beef especially) really good. Thai green chicken curry and king prawn pad Thai are firm favourites - coconut rice and beef massaman curry were also delicious. Good portion sizes and cooked fresh - we had a takeaway with 10% off if you collect! Consistently good and would recommend!

Very good food and excellent service

Second visit, as always the owner is very welcoming. Different waiter this time who seemed quite slow compared to previous visit. Food as always, absolutely brilliant. Took my 2 children as a treat and they thoroughly enjoyed the food. This little gem of a place will become quite a regular.

I don't write a lot of reviews but was excited to try the Bangkok Thai Take Away service. I thought keep it simple and had a Green Chicken Curry - there was no sign of the Thai Basil, Baby Aubergine or indeed any significant flavour. Very bland with enormous chunks of re-hydrated chicken. Take it Away....

The food arrived promptly and was delicious!! It was the best Thai meal I have ever had in my life. The staff are the most friendly and polite staff I have ever seen in a restaurant. The decorations are exquisite and it’s so lovely to see the asian culture being embraced. I recommend this restaurant to all of my friends it’s just brilliant.

We had just checked in at a nearby hotel, and since the hotel restaurant couldn't accommodate us for lunch, we just drove to the town looking for a place to eat. We ordered from the lunch menu at three courses for only £9.90. Typical Thai fare of tomyum, curries and thai desserts. Authentic, good service and all reasonably priced.

We order from Bangkok Thai quite a bit. They are always super friendly and when it's open we enjoy going there but tonight's takeaway was outstanding. It was lovely and hot and everything we ordered was delicious. We shared spring rolls, chicken green curry and prawn pad Thai. Even the prawn crackers were great!! A fantastic meal. Looking forward to being able to go again in person.

Ordered at 7:10pm at 9pm still no food had arrived when we rang we were told it had been cancelled! Awful service quick enough to take payment over the phone but not provide the food

Very nice take away food from this restaurant. The only downside being the rubbery fish cakes, although they tasted good.

We've recently moved into the area, and decided to check out the Bangkok Thai... we were so happy we did! Best chu chi pla I have had since leaving Thailand! Absolutely perfect! And such large portions, too. The staff - Gwang and Anaan - are lovely; we had such a nice chat with them, too. It was great to hear Thai spoken again - we really miss the Land of Smiles! We'll definitely be returning soon, and would recommend that anyone who loves Thai food to try it out, too!

Bangkok Thai saffron Walden is the best. They once gave a me a beer on the house with my delivery and now they have drawn me a chicken. Very friendly and helpful staff :)

The food is now delivered. The best absolutely in Saffron Walden. I had prawns, pork ribs, the best fried rice ever. The ingredients were clearly very fresh, and food arrived freshly cook. Superb quality, delicious.

Really enjoy the authentic taste, never any leftovers despite the generous sized portions. Delivery times are reasonable and very polite delivery drivers. Always look forward to our meals from here especially in these uncertain times, makes me happy! Highly recommend

We have been going here for years and it is wonderful!!!!! Excellent high-quality food, a warm and friendly welcome and relaxing surroundings. Love it. some online information suggests that this restaurant is not open on Sunday lunchtimes - that is untrue. Sunday's they do an 'all you can eat' buffet or a two course lunch. Our lunch was - as ever - delicious!

This is a really lovely Thai, we usually go on a Sunday for there amazing lunch menu but have been in the evening as well with friends. The staff are so nice and the food is top notch. They are always happy to spice up dishes if you want them that bit spicier.

Nothing is good in here unless your taste buds aren't working. Bland, not real Thai food, wish we had a good Thai around here!!!!

Relieved to find some tasty flavours in a town (Saffron Walden) that, to my surprise, seems largely devoid of good restaurants. The staff at Bangkok Thai was super friendly, charming and polite. Nice traditional Thai decor too. Unfortunately, no Thai ice tea or ice coffee, but the Prawn Pad Thai, Spring Roll Duck, and coconut ice cream made up for that. Next time I’m in town, I’ll know where to go!

Food was delicious, I had a Chicken Green Curry with coconut rice that was really good. The service was on the slow side but OK, the atmosphere was OK too, some nice relaxing music would add a lot to it but I can't complain, we had good food for a great value. I saw some not so good reviews about this place but decided to give it a go anyway and I wasn't disappointed.

Friendly staff, efficient service and most importantly, DELICIOUS food! Am excited to come back again. But, I would appreciate it if the beef could be cut slightly smaller 😌 Thank you.

First time was pleasing and very accommodating

This was a disappointing Friday evening meal with my family. The service was slow and lacklustre and the food nothing better than standard and quite expensive given that it wasn't out of the ordinary in any way.We had the set menu B which was stuffed with peppers and onions and not much meat. The beef was stringy and inedible consequently. The green curry more like a soup that in a green sauce.The deep fried ice cream as the dessert was unpleasant with the coating of the ice creamy very cloudy and undercooked and covered in sickly sweet squirty cream.This was a disappointing meal for 5 that came to over £150 with only 3 alcoholic drinks making up part of that bill. We won't be going back.

We ate there a few dates back . I really cannot understand how people can rate this place. Obviously they have not sampled Thai food in good restaurants !!The restaurant itself was not clean and uncomfortably warm inside.As for the food .... the chicken was served in huge slices with uncooked lumps of green and red peppers. , and was tough . An awful meal !!

Had a takeaway tonight from the Bangkok Thai in Saffron Walden. It was delicious! Portions were really big...too big for us. We ordered on-line, the order was ready on time and the staff were really friendly when I collected the order. I would highly recommend the restaurant. We will definitely be ordering from them again, may even go and eat in the restaurant next time.

Planned a visit to Saffron Walden, saw this place had good reviews so decided to book in advance to not be disappointed...Arrived, and wasn't sure if it was open at first as it was very dark, went in and we were the only customers. So needn't have worried about booking! We were given the fixed lunch menu and had to ask if we could order from the main menu as we hadn't been given the choice at first. Very cheap fixed lunch menu - £7.99 for two courses, we decided to pick the lunch menu plus an addition starter from the main al a carte menu. All dishes were mediocre... Pad Thai was below average and we have cooked better Thai Green curries ourselves at home. Service was slow, despite being the only ones in there and no smile from the waiter.Best thing about this place is that it was cheap. Would not return...

We ordered via the internet and picked it up. The food was a lovely change from indian or chinese and reminded us both of being back in thailand. I recommend trying the broccoli side dish.

There are few good vege options, I recommend the Thai green curry. Friendly staff. Looking forward to a sit down visit next time.

Food ok ,but overpriced for what you get and had to keep asking for cutlery, never go in after 9.45 or you will be rushed .

Lacking one or two touches such as cutlery in good condition but the food is excellent. Top notch green curry, red curry, duck dishes and especially prawn toast. Gents toilet mirrored all round, which is a novelty in itself.

We were staying near this restaurant and were recommended to try it, we are glad we did. We didn't eat in the restaurant itself, which looked very nice and was quite busy, but ordered a takeaway. On arrival the staff were very friendly and it was ready and waiting for us to collect. The food was tasty, well cooked and very good portion sizes. I can't review the service in the restaurant but if we are ever in this area again we would book to eat in the restaurant. I'd recommend the food, it was very nice.

I was pretty impressed with the delicious Thai food served here - pretty good fir a smaller market town. The staff are very friendly, and the decor is lively. My favourite dish is the Tamarind Duck..

My family and I must have been to this restaurant over 60 times and love it every single time. Never had a duff meal, the food is always beautiful. We go mainly on a Sunday when its quiet, GBP 15 per person as much as you can eat - but each order is cooked for you there and then. Its one of my favourite places to go and the Thai family that run it are lovely, hospitable and friendly.

This restaurant is bursting with character and heritage. It is beautifully decorated which is matched by its food. The staff are very kind and helpful. I had deep-fried prawns which tasted incredible! If you are looking for something unique, this is the place. Highly Recommend!

Went in Sunday lunch time choice of eat as much as you like or a lady carte. Starters very tasty scary was juicy not dry selection of dips went well .very well presented. Mains also nicely spiced and well presented.service was friendly and good timings. The only down side was it was a bit cold in there ,didn't think the heating was on.overall a good experience and we would go back again.

Thai food, normal. Good treatment from staff. Ugly gesture when bringing the bill, there were 4 of us and they only brought chocolates.

Not been in a while and though the food was as good as ever (despite them being without the main chef) service was too slow. A combination of them being busy in the restaurant, apparently short the main chef in the kitchen, plus Saturday night takeaways to cover as well. Won't stop me returning - as I say the food is as good as ever, but probably avoid a Saturday night. The duck and the sea bass was superb and a special mention to a new starter I've not seen before, the thai corn cakes.
