I am very picky about fish and chips having been brought up in the North. This is one of only three places I eat f&c in East Anglia. I usually eat in but this time all the tables were taken. I thoroughly recommend this f&c shop. It's a gem.

Not Dog friendly! :( There was a guy supervising/staring at the whole process of receiving the food and the situation was suuuuper uncomfortable! What the hell! It is just fish and chips!.... The food was not good and flooded in oil! :/ For your reply: no personal offense to the workers but rather a note to the weird vibes of the service offered. Nobody wants to eat/buy food in a place where you don't feel good. This review is based on my experience as a client and I tend to be fair as you can see on my many other reviews. You can of course disagree as an owner, but this is how the review system works ;)

Fantastic service. Ordered takeaway for 15 fish and chips. Arrived in excellent condition and exactly on time.

They delivered 15 portions of pensioners fish and chips to Newport Croquet club . They arrived on time, piping hot and were absolutely delicious on such a cold day. Well done! We'll be doing it again.

Lovely fish and chips. Fresh and tasty. Friendly staff and clean seating areas. Very busy for takeaways so obviously very popular locally too.

Produce ok. Saw people eating at tables so asked to do the same. Was charged extra for stuff on a plate. Locals came in and ordered to take away, then sat and ate at tables out of the boxes! Bit of a rip-off.

Went for a takeaway around 8pm chips and bun was nice, got 3 chicken pieces and 2 were bloody all the way through :( , been 2 months and never have they tried to respond to me they are more than happy to respond to anyone else though.

Great fish and chips and friendly service. Love the new addition to the drinks menu of beer or wine. Would be good though if there was an ale option rather than just two generic lagers. Perhaps a pale ale or an IPA. Overall, a fantastic chippy!

One of (if not) the most popular in town, fast, easy, also does chicken also amongst the usual stuff.

When we visit Saffron Walden we like to eat here. Great menu, friendly service. The burgers beat McDonalds every time, good value for money. Love it

Got lunch for the family here. 5 adults and 4 kids all for less that £35 the food was freshly cooked, and it was delicious. Highly recommend this as a fish and chip spot!

Friendly staff nice chips. I had scampi chips and mushy peas, partner had chicken nuggets chips and mushy peas. I probably should have tried the garlic mushrooms or salt n pepper squid for something slightly different.

Very affordable and tasty fish and chips.The food is really great and fresh.The staff are also very kind and the fish is served within seconds.The only problem is the packaging where I didn't receive cutlery or tissues which was bad.Other than that a recommended place!

First time here. Not a big takeaway or even fish and chips fan. It was a big portion-ordered small and still couldn't finish the whole portion. Fish fresh and tasty. Batter crispy, chips nothing amazing- just regular. Covid safety in the shop.

A good place with plenty of choice with large portions

Ordered fish and chips X 3 . Portions were generous and food was tasty. The fish was high quality real chunky cod loins (not the tails or worse you often find at cheap providers). Chips were nice too. Price was sensible but definitely not cheap. One thing I did not like was the lack of the mushy peas option. Overall good experience

Use this shop a fair amount. Usually very good, decent portion sizes etc. Just been there today and the portions have got a lot smaller but for the same price. Check your food before you leave as we didn't know till we got home.

Great fish and chips cooked fresh to order. Great value for money where 'large' fish really does mean that.

Fish and chips in saffron Walden now doing gluten free fish and chips, my wife is coeliac and dairy intolerant so we gave it a try, absolutely fantastic plenty of chips and nice size rock, must give it a try, our Monday meal in future. Had it delivered arrived on time piping hot.

Don't dine in!! 9 staff behind counter, not all wearing face covering; Seemed very disorganized, frenetic; meal took a long time to be served; other customers came, ordered and left before my meal was brought out to me then; wrong meal served, requested beans but these were not included; eventually after about 20 minutes I got my meal; only given a fork, had to ask for a knife; no salt or vinegar provided on table, again I had to ask, complained to manager/owner. Didn't appear interested and was aloof. Food ok but I can't recommend eating in. A poor experience.

Best fish and chips in town by far! Menu has a lot to offer! Safe to say I'm packing on the pounds working my way through all the food they have to offer! I particularly love their chicken nuggets and chicken burger! They have the option for eat in or take away. I normally take mine and sit on the common when it's nice and sunny! Staff so friendly too, I will be back with friends next time 💪

Service was and usually is very polite and fairly swift despite high order rate. However fish (haddock) on this occasion and chips were and in our experience typically are far too greasy, need to be drained better/longer I think, Cod is the one to go for here.

I got my dinner from there one time. It is usually a takeaway place. There are tables but most people come to order takeaway food and leave. I ordered fish and chips obviously! And it was delicious and definitely filling. The prices are also pretty reasonable.

Ordered for my friend and her son. Balked at the thought for me as I could smell the grease. I had one chip and several hours later I can still taste it ! Lovely staff though. Coildnt use the toilet. Not their fault but up very steep stairs and not disabled friendly . My friend has felt sick several times since being home. No wonder the place was empty. Sorry guys. You just need to up your game.

If you're hunger and you're up to a fish and chips this is the perfect place, the fish is delicious! Definitely a place to go back again!

Never write reviews... But this one made me cross... Having travelled quite a distance to get to the only F&C shop open on a Sunday evening for miles around, I was extremely disappointed that the 'basics' were not even done right. By that I mean that the chips were not cooked - to the point of being crunchy (from undercooking) and the order was incorrect when I got back home... Having ordered (and looking forward to on the 15 min drive home) curry sauce, I was cross to find mushy peas instead!!! Appalling service from 3 or 4 members of staff in the shop... 2 people served before me, but I was the only one remaining when I was served... So it can't be blamed on 'being busy'... Seriously p!ss£d off! Never again!
