Bangkok Cafe in Cardiff

I went out to Bangkok cafe with a friend a few weeks ago and order their steak with tiger sauce. Very beautiful. I was so excited I bought my husband 2 weeks later after hyping the place up and we ordered the same thing. It was terrible, the rice was dry or stale, the steak wasn’t as good, the whole plate was different from the last time I came. Even the sauce wasn’t not the same thing. The server didn’t even care when I tried to address them and ask why it’s different. She couldn’t be bothered. I wasted £55 pounds on food work 15 if that. TERRIBLE and INCONSISTENT

Delicious freshly cooked food, great size portions and plenty of choice. Will be back!

One of the most authentic Thai food places you could find in Cardiff. They even have an exclusive vegan section in their menu. We tried their corn fritters, spring rolls and some spicy Dom yum salad for starters. Tofu Massaman curry, Jackfruit jungle curry and Dowhoo pat parik curry for mains. The lady who attended us was lovely and welcoming. The price was reasonable, attaching the bill for reference and they accept cash only. Parking available at the Canton carpark, a few meters away from the cafe, which is free after 6pm.

Friendly staff great service and delicious Thai foods.Highly recommended to all the people who’s looking for real Thai cuisine.Best Thai restaurant in Cardiff.😋

Nice food and staff were attentive, food was hot and fast. In my opinion not the best Thai in Cardiff but good for a quick bite. Starter, main and alcohol drink looking around £30 each,.so not cafe prices.

Lovely little Thai place in Canton, the food was amazing and very reasonably priced too. The service was very fast and the staff were pleasant. I had the Chicken Pad Thai and would highly recommend!

Me and my son visited for the first time yesterday (25th October) and found the food absolutely delicious,really tasty and nice presentation,the food came out quick and was hot and fresh really enjoyed it,great service and nice ambience would definitely return and highly recommend

Brilliant food and nice service!

Went for dinner this evening with my family. Had a lovely meal. The green curry, penang curry and the massaman were very good. The grilled duck was good but a bit dry so was the spare ribs. Veg spring rolls was very good. Attentive but unobtrusive service. A place worth going if you want good Thai food.

Booked a table for 4, ended up being late and they happily changed our reservation last minute with no issue. Food was absolutely top notch. Delicious starters, mains and sides. Not just typical UK "Thai"food, but had all the classics. Atmosphere was good. Well worth a visit for the food

We had a fantastic meal, good service and excellent fresh food. Whilst most items had gluten listed this was because the food we ordered included deep fried vegetables which was easy to avoid so didn’t affect me. Highly recommended!

So disappointed. Ordered take away as a treat. Sat down to eat it at home and the vegi option was full of meat one other item was missing. Phoned up and was offered cash refund. So visited again. No apology, but was refunded fine.

Delicious Thai food all reasonably priced. Separate vegan menu which is great. Online booking system needs updating to allow larger party bookings, had difficulty getting through on the phone and email.

The food was amazing and James was really nice to us and really attentive.

We felt like some seafood and there really aren't many good seafood restaurants in Cardiff. I had the grilled prawns, they were divine, the Thai flavours were zinging. My wife had the grilled chicken and it was amazing too. Thoroughly recommend this place, if you want something tasty and healthy. Service was top notch too.

Went there the first day at Cardiff, the food was okay, was quite salty for me, occasionally okay to visit but a bit pricey compare to the food quality.

We called into the Bangkok Cafe on 21.07.2022 to celebrate our daughter's, belated, graduation as this was the place she wanted to take us having been there herself with friends on a previous occasion The locality and the outside impression of the cafe is not the best and this is more of a Thai food cafe rather than a restaurant, as such, and that 'easy' style is reflected in the way the food is served and the crockery used but the food iteself is very good and the service is exceptionally warm and welcoming from the young proprietors In all honesty I must say that I have had more authentic tasting Thai food but this was very tasty. We had the chicken satay and spare ribs for starters and then Pad Thai, Red Curry and the Duck Bem Grapow for mains which I had and which was really enjoyable All in all a very pleasant visit, no complaints at all, but don't know that I would rush back which is not a criticism of the establishment just not sure that there this is anything stand out to make me return

Ate here a few months ago and had the Ner Nam Dok which was great, along with service too. Had Pad Thai delivered a few times and it’s always been brilliant.

Food here was fantastic. Annoyingly on arrival we were informed it was cash only as card machine not working resulting in us have to limit selections based on the amount of cash we had between us. Hopefully we can tey the full range next time.

Ordered takeout from here last night and it was one of the best takeout meals I’ve ever had. So many vegan choices! I had two starters and two mains and all the flavours combined were amazing. The pad Thai tasted so authentic, very similar to what I ate in Thailand years ago. Very nice family run business - highly recommend 😀

Have eaten here on a number of occasions and the food has always been great . A classic pad Thai a favourite . Last night's offering was beyond disappointing - greasy overcooked noodles , 5 small pieces of chicken - two of which were cold . Two slivers of spring onion and a handful of beansprouts - some of which were cold and raw . £11.50 for this ,?

Just finished my meal and all three of us really enjoyed it, beautifully cooked and presented and got the Thai flavours just right. Service was lovely, lots of Thai smiles!

Ordered a takeaway from here tonight and was absolutely blown away. We ordered for one vegan and one pescatarian and it was all incredible. We will definitely be back!❤️

Lovely vegan Thai food which is really reasonably priced. They have a separate section for vegans which is awesome. We had the corn cakes, soup and Pad Thai. Everything was delicious. Staff are very friendly as well.

This was a good thai meal, food was served quickly and it was also not overpriced. The atmosphere and service were also good - first time. Would definitely go again - we need to support restaurants in this area as it has potential. Had a pint in Crafty Devil first - a great night out.

After reading several good reviews , decided to go try a takeaway. Unfortunately the takeaway didn't live up to the reviews I had read. This could be down to not eating in the restaurant, but overall the takeaway meal was disappointing. Will definitely give the restaurant a try at a sit down meal. But I wouldn't recommend takeaway.

The service was excellent, comfortable seating and dinning area and a very nice atmosphere. The starters were great. The mains... I would question their authenticity because of a couple of the ingredients in the red curry.

I had a takeaway it arrived and was disgusting I ordered half a chicken I got half of sparrow and everything was cold and tasted bitter

The place was quite modern inside however the food and service wasn’t the best. We had pad Thai and coconut rice. The food was served on plastic plates with plastic cupcake cases, kind of felt like a children’s party. The food tasted quite good but definitely not the best Thai I have had. The coconut rice was not authentic it was simply just rice with coconut milk poured on top. And to add the servers forgot our drinks. Wouldn’t come back

Excellent meal in safe and comfortable surroundings. The menu is extensive, but each dish offers a complete experience with multiple interesting elements.

God damn the food here is good. Super authentic it felt like we were in Thailand. Everything was so so tasty and came really quickly. Service was super friendly too, would definitely recommend checking it out. (Tons of amazing vegan and veggie options too)

This was a very nice meal to celebrate the raising of Lockdown #3 Masks seemed very much in evidence. There was spacing between tables (not sure if that was an anti-Covid measure, but considering table were at a premium in Cardiff that night I guess...

This was my second time ordering from Bangkok Cafe. I wanted to leave an honest review and i will start with the positives. The calamari was excellent we really enjoyed this. The red curry did taste nice but it definitely is not an authentic Thai dish. May have been a different take on the red curry but would have preferred a more authentic flavour. The main disappointment was the other dish I ordered was the pad Grapow (chilli and basil) which is usually one of my favourite meals. Unfortunately on this occasion it was very oily and full of fish sauce - it was overwhelming that it also stank of fish. I couldn't eat it. It was really disappointing as I ordered the same dish last time and it was nice.

Delicious traditional food, well balanced menu and lovely atmosphere and service if eating in. Award winning for good reason.

The food here is the best Thai food I've ever eaten outside of Thailand. Actually, it's probably the best Thai food I've eaten full stop. I HIGHLY recommend the Dom Kah soup and the Bangkok Noodles. They cater for veggies too, with a whole seperate vegan menu. The restaurant itself isn't anything to write home about, but it's got a chill cafe vibe, the staff are great, the place is really clean, and the food is out of this world.

Wonderful fresh and delicious food. Everything I tried was wonderful. The sweetcorn fritters are amazing, the soups are so flavoursome and zingy and the curries are rich and warming. Just be careful what you order if you don't like chilli!

It was amazing to finally eat out (due to pandemic) and perfect choice of restaurant. Every dish tasted perfect! Clean venue, polite staff and pretty good prices. I'll definitely be returning and have already recommended to friends.

Fast service, clean environment and delicious food. We went yesterday evening for dinner. Had green curry, pad Thai and papaya salad. It was all.so good. The green curry had so much flavour and the pad Thai king prawns were big, juicy and delicious. We were satiated and satisfied with the food and speedy service. Only thing that was a little annoying was the phone, it was extremely loud and constantly ringing, I'd suggest they turn the volume down on it.

Visited on a date, would definitely recommend if you are thinking of eating here. The ambiance was suited to this type of restaurant. This is one of the last remaining Thai restaurants in Cardiff unfortunately.

Incrediblely tasty food and a great veggie/vegan choice!

Very wide choice suiting a range of palates, from strict carnivores to vegans, and a very good range of vegan food, not just tokens. My partner and I had fish dishes and very tasty indeed. Excellent service.

Lovely food, but slower service than was expected. However food came out quickly. The staff are all very pleasant and accomodating. They do serve food on plastic crockery, which my mum noticed, but it was clean and pretty. I really enjoyed my Saturday night dinner here.
