Fabulous cod, chips and peas with lovely crisp batter! Everything is cooked to order so expect a small wait. Very reasonable price too. Highly recommended! 😊🐟🍟

Bigger portions than previous owners, more professional, friendly staff. Vastly improved under new owners. Batter is crispy and tasty and the chips are the best! Fish cakes are so, so much better too. Yum. Recommended.

Used to be an outstanding chip shop. Changed hands this year and sadly, whilst prices have remained high, the quality of the food has fallen. All food used to be cooked so fresh that it was still too hot to eat when I walked home. Not my experience today. Still gets 3 stars, for an ok fish and chip experience, but not an outstanding one.

16 mins to get one portion of Fish and Chips. Appreciate the “cook to order” excuse but people came in after me and got their food before me. Gives a really bad impression of their importance of how customers perceive their customer service. Lots of nonsensical family chit chat behind the counter. Not a good experience especially considering what they charge.

I have eaten here a few times and it is overall good food. However, I was disappointed today to find out that it is closed on Sundays and Mondays, which I think is a ridiculous time to close, it being on a weekend. It would be more suitable to only be closed on one day a week such as Wednesday, for example.

We ordered almost 100 Fish & Chips portions for our Burns Night in the village of Holcombe Rogus, which is about 10 miles from Bampton. They were promptly delivered on schedule in little boxes and were piping hot and absolutely delicious . Some guests selected Haggis (which we also provided in canapés for the audience) and were added/served separately with a portion of Chips. The Fish Bar also provided a few vegetarian burgers (in a bun) options which were munched with enthusiasm. Our village has used the services of the Fish Bar in the past for equally large deliveries which, again were delivered as promised and were again excellent. At all times, the service was impeccable and the meals were superb. Should you visit Bampton, don’t miss the opportunity to include the Fish Bar if dining. Thank you so much.

‘Popped in’ on the off chance for fish cake and chips for lunch. What a delight. Firstly the shop was very clean, well lit and customers enjoying fish and chips in the dining area. The two young men frying and serving where friendly and welcoming ( Carne and Ollie I believe). The menu was reasonably priced, and concise. The food was delicious and cooked very well. Well recommended if passing through Bampton and or Exmoor.

Popped in for a quick fish and chip lunch cooked to perfection very good value at £6.00 per person hot drink included lovely young lads working hard my only gripe personal choice a bit of background music even the radio as atmosphere was a little flat but that’s just me.

I visit here regularly they do Excellent fish and chips. It was exceptionally good the other day when 2 young lads were cooking! But I’m fed up of going in and hearing the main blonde lady and the older man being so so rude to their young staff! Witnessed them shouting, talking down to them and just being genuinely rude on a number of occasions. It’s put me off now as it seems to occur every time I visit. So unprofessional of the main staff. I don’t want to hear it when waiting for my chips, it’s embarrassing. Please remember you were young once and your staff should want to learn from you not be barked at all the time!

Excellent fish and chips there home made fish cakes are just the best ,well worth a visit .bampton in Devon is a fab place to visit .there are many good eating places in Bampton , but if you are looking for a take out the fish and chip shop is one of the best in Devon in my opinion. Prices are very reasonable always very busy which says a lot .

The best fish and chip shop in Devon and Somerset. Great place to eat in or take-out. Top quality ingredients cooked to perfection. Try the kebabs or burgers which are to die for. Will not go anywhere else.

The owners are friendly and welcoming. The fish and chips were served so hot and freshly cooked they were too hot to eat for a few moments. The shop was very clean and well run. They also gave us good advice where to visit with our bikes.

We needed some food for a family get together and decided to get 10 portions of fish and chips ordered the day before. The fish was fresh and flakey and the batter crisp and superb.

Ate here as the hotel that I was staying in didn't open the restaurant on a Tuesday and other restaurants were full. What a great find! Lovely food and great chips. Served lovely and hot and freshly cooked. Staff very friendly.

Visited with my Girlfriend on a return visit to her home village. Wanting an easy meal we decided to opt for a meal of Fish & Chips. With our meals and extras coming in at a reasonable £18 - two of that was a eat in surcharge, we found that they did not take cards. In a day and age where money is used less and less and card systems becoming so cheap to use and fish prices constantly rising this is something they should really change.

Ordered food, walked home. Only to find part of order missin which isn’t the first time. Batter on fish very greasy. Cheese and onion fry-it’s still slightly cold.

After arriving in Tiverton to find only the type of places to eat that we didn’t like were thinking oh dear what sort of place is this to find lovely fish and chip restaurant! The lightning and restaurant were lovely it was an extremely hot evening but staff had got fans working ! Waiter was charming and attentive the fish and chips and bottle of red wine perfect

This fish bar is a real gem. Everything cooked fresh to order. Immaculately clean. You can eat in as well. Really friendly staff. The proprietors have got a real love of their business and it shows.

Lovely fish and chips. We picked up after deciding for a family take away. A bit frustrating that it’s cash only. Would be great for new comers if you can change this. So anyone reading this make sure you take old fashioned money!

Used this on the last night of a stay in the area, we were not disappointed. Freshly cooked to order, not greasy and tasty. The cod and chips were superb. Its that popular people were having to phone ion their orders and when we visited having to wait 30 minutes. Cars were double parking in the road collecting orders. If you want a great British Classic, freshly cooked and tasty then you would go a long way if you miss this gem.

Entramos y nos recibieron con una cálida bienvenida. Nos dimos cuenta que donde las mesas y las sillas, así que preguntamos si nos podíamos sentar en debido a la vuelta. No tuvimos que esperar mucho tiempo. La comida llegó y las patatas fritas parecía limpia. (me refiero a cocinados en aceite) el kabab sabían increíble que nunca he probado kabab carne, como él. El tamaño de la porción también no me decepcionó. Por favor, no hay un cargo por persona £1 así que sentarse en las mesas, pero merece la pena. Nos dijo que sería shice dispuesto a comer cada noche allí si llegó. Cinco estrellas para el personal de servicio al cliente y el gran sabor. Sin duda volveremos antes de volver a casa y se lo recomendaremos a otros en el sitio de campamento. Impecablemente limpio.

What a busy chippy, with such a big menu - all sorts to choose from. Must be a great asset to Bampton as a takeaway. Fish were fantastic.

I visit here about every 6 weeks and have never been disappointed they are freshly cooked which is brilliant as I have to take them to Dulverton. They arrived still very hot and tasty. Chips are not greasy and the cod is in a very light nice batter. We always have takeaway but you can eat in.

Parking is a bit tight but the village is lovely and the fish and chips were devine not greesey fresh chips were just right and the prices are just right - lovley

I have a choice of two Fish & Chip shops each about 3 miles from me but the great advantage of BAMPTON FISH BAR (a) is the quality of their produce and (b) it is a restaurant where one can sit in comfort and eat the very best quality, freshly cooked plate of fish and chips. I have to watch my waistline and my wife has a bit of a sparrows appetite, so this is not a weekely treat, but I adore their haddock and my wife can have a childs portion, which is large enough to cause her to struggle to finish it. Accompanied by a pot of tea and some bread & butter this is a lovely treat. Just to top off, the staff are always friendly. This is so much better that having wrapped fish & chips and driving home the 3 miles before one can enjoy them, by which time they have lost some of their appeal.

We had a £30 order of all sorts and asked if I can put on the salt and vinegar and was rudely told no!!! The portions were very small. So all in all I would stay away and spend your hard earned cash some other place.

Turned up at Bampton and unsure what to eat thought we would try the local chippy.It was lovely the staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was great. Fish cook led perfectly not too much batter so crisp and tasty.Highly recommend

I used to go here when I was little and it was soo good and tasty. I went through a phase of buying kebabs from here also, they were very full of salad and had lots of sauce, just how I like it!However, I bought a kebab from their today and disappointed is an understatement. Hardly any salad, no sauce and dry meat. Wouldn't recommended anymore.

We were staying in the village and noted this fish and chip shop and that you could eat in or take away. We decided to eat in, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the premises were spotlessly clean. We had fish chips and mushy peas and a pot of tea each. The food was piping hot, freshly cooked and was delicious. Some of the best we have had. Very good value for money. Would definitely eat here again when in the area.

We finished our week in a local cottage with fish and chips from the Bampton chippy. Everything was cooked fresh, so about a 10-minute wait for our cod and chips supper. Good portions of fresh, juicy cod, perfect batter and real chip-shop chips (lots of them). Two portions for £12 (including mushy peas of course). Perfect!

We were staying in a holiday cottage about 6 miles away and were recommended this fish and chip bar. I am glad that we took the advice.Quite simply, the fish and chips could not be better. The fish is cooked in an exquisite crisp batter, and the chips are superb, non of the usual slimy soft over cooked chips. no, sir! These are crisp and dry and absolutely delicious!They can can also do the usual, and not so usual, optional meals, and all the extras.Naturally the restaurant is basic and.devoid of any charm, but if it's the food you want and you are hungry you won't find better for the price.

Delicious fish and chips, far better than any other chip shop in this part of the county, the only one which comes near to this on quality is Squire's in Braunton.

Whilst away, during the summer we stopped off for Fish and chips in Bampton, very good service by 3 young members of staff, and very generous helpings of chips, with large cod being large cod.It does have a bit of a local café feeling, but, that does not influence the service or food.Very good hearty meal was had.

I have to say, as a general rule I am quite a healthy but on most accounts indulgent eater. But unfortunately the chip butty and curry sauce here wins me over. I probably have fish and chips once a year but this is truly a guilty pleasure. There is something about the soft white doughy bread and the crisp vinegary heavily salted chips topped with lightly spiced curried sauce that is just divine. I cannot quite describe it. So if you ever find yourself at a lose end and need a quick fix, try the chip butty!

The Bampton Fish Bar well deserves a positive review on Trip Advisor. In my opinion these are the best fish and chips I have tasted in the West Country ... bar none. Everything is freshly cooked from the battered sausage to the cod. The staff are friendly, courteous and professional in their work. It also seems to be very popular with the locals. If in the area its well worth a 10 mile detour, plenty of free parking. The outlet is spotlessly clean and well deserves a 5 star plus! I'm amazed it has escaped Trip Advisor so far.. I have no association with this place, I'm just a very satisfied customer. I wish them every success in the future.
