Bamboo House in Blackburn with Darwen

For so long I've craved good fish and chips, we decided to check out Bamboo House and we weren't disappointed. Coming out with the food, I said to the hubby, if this is as good as it looks, after the service we've just had then that is a killer combination. Will definitely be returning and checking out the Chinese menu for full clarification. We've found our fave takeaway 😀

What has happened to this place? Been going here for well over 10 years and it's always been brilliant and never had a bad meal but the last time was a complete shambles. Waited for over 25 mins in the shop for a phone order due to chips and a side dish not being ready. Other people were waiting and getting annoyed. The new (?) owners argue between themselves and can't organise what's going on - or not. I felt sorry for the young girl behind the counter as she knew what was going on. When we eventually got the order back home it was stone cold due to the long wait and it being left on the counter. Then we find 2 items were missing! A complete car crash. It wasn't a one off either the previous 2 visits weren't good either, so It will be a LONG time before we will go back!

What has gone wrong with this place. I have been visiting for years but the owners/staff, seem to have changed. The chips were cold, overdone and not at all crispy. The fish however was fine. The service is also so poor.My bill was £9.30 and I gave the girl a ten pound note. Unbelievably she had to use a calculator to work out my change. What do they learn at school these days?

Well what can I say went to get one fish and one chips and curry at 6/35 pm yesterday the place was packed mostly with people who had ordered over the phone lot’s of people complaining about their wait . After losing my temper and letting the management know how mad I was I finally got my order at 7/20 pm if I hadn’t paid I would have left IT WAS ORGANISED CHAOS If I go again i will not pay until my order is ready Its bad management 3 staff serving one should be serving the walk ins whilst the other two sort out the telephone orders

The chip shop offered a mixed experience. While the chips were slightly dry, they still had a good flavor. However, the prices were a bit on the high side for what was provided. Consistently good food .. generous portions.. always quick efficient service. I placed a telephone order and collected within 10 mins. This place doesn't offer a delivery service which is a shame. However it is in my opinion the best chinese take away I have been to.

I tried a Singapore fried rice for the first time, as I have had Singapore chow mein from here and it has generally been good, but this meal was very dry and all bar tasteless except for a bit of 'heat ' Very disappointed and cannot recommend this meal.

The beef curry and fried rice was very good unlike the girl that served me. No manners. Got my order wrong. When I corrected her she gave me the wrong changed changed So it cost me £3.00 more than it should have Won't be going back unless they sort their staff out

Gravy far to salty and when I ring my own or go down and tell them they always seem to get it wrong. The chips are very greasy and make me sick. I used to love this place

Decent Chinese/Chippy. Sometimes busy so worth calling ahead for takeaway. Good portions of tasty food at reasonable prices. Staff friendly and helpful.

Not sure what has changed...But tonight was one of the worst meal I've have had from Bamboo and so disappointed!!! Every thing was reheated, dried out or re-fried!!! Gutted because this is/ was my fav chinese and wont be coming back!

No no no sorry guys I've had probably THE worst salt and pepper spare ribs from you guys tonight very little meat over cooked almost as dry as biltong and full of little bone cartilage things awful 👎 also chicken and sweet corn soup ☹️ so sweet even the wife said oh no and she loves sweet dishes would I recommend 🤔 sadly not.

Usually the fish and chips are good, but today's 11.07.22 the chips were very very dry.

I've just started coming here, not had a chinese yet but had fish and chips and it's the best I've ever had the portion sizes are fab and the gravy is just the best too. I'll be ordering a Chinese soon 👍

Got a chippy for tea this is the worst chippy I ever had couldn’t even get salt on one salt and vinegar on the other. This was made fresh as I had to wait went in the bin after 1 mouthful.

This is the best food place I have ever been

Absolutely love this place for both English and Chinese meals. Their gravy is fab and when I tell my boys I'm going here, they have to have gravy. Extremely welcoming and friendly staff. As we are regulars they regularly ask how family is and how my boys are doing with their hobbies etc. Also if you want to specialise your meal in any way, they are full compliant with any request. Cannot rate this place enough.

Ordered food by phone to be collected, was ready in 10/15 minutes as they said it would be. Excellent food, ordered several dishes all good. Have also had their fish and chips which again was very good. Also nice to support a local business.

Brill food only had fish and dabs but they made a order of 21 people and got it right and its good to know its open all day long serving Chinese food just what you need some days Defo be going back again.

I like this shop - the food is really well priced and worth it. However, my first time going there alone (I'm 13) I ordered 2 medium chips with curry sauce. It cost £4.40. I gave the woman a £10 note, and I only got 60p change. I can tell that the owner loves this place, as the food is fresh and not frozen. But, listen more!

the special offers menu was amazing. I got meals for all of my family extremely cheap due to the special offers menu. I will defiantly come here again.

Went tonight for meal....chips and fish and a carton of gravy ......plenty of chips which was a plus.....gravy a bit too salty and the fish was less than a cm thick......just wrapped it and give it me knowing that it was poor quality !...unacceptable ...did`nt r eally enjoy at all...will not be going back EVER
