Bamboo House in Cherwell

Had an unplanned dinner here on Friday night. Whilst not having a booking they managed to fit us in before their bookings started. As we didn't have long we didn't do the all you can eat option and went for a la carte instead. Large range of options and what we had was tasty. Not the best Chinese we've had but tasty none the less.

Beyond disgusting food. Everything was floating in some kind of fluid. First time I’ve ever had a chow mein that’s floating! Same goes for fried shredded chilli beef - floating in fluid, and tasting of perfume! It’s only been 15 mins since a few bites of the worst Chinese I’ve ever had, but pretty confident me or the wife will end up in the bog before too long. 🤢🤮

Slimy chicken curry, burnt Singapore noodles, special chow mein floating in liquid, friend shredded chilli beef slimy and floating in watery liquid and tasted of perfume

Absolute shocking take away from this place everything was cold the food was raw and absolute no flavour in any of the dishes except the raw onion and carrot they put in everything one of the worst Chinese places I have ever ordered from so not order takeaway from these people

The food was late and there was a missing item. We had to then wait another 20 mins for it. We used to order direct from them but the food is so hit and miss we stopped to be able to give feedback here. It is lile russian roulette!

Ordered a take away. It is meant to be Ramen but unfortunately it’s nothing like Ramen. The food is inedible and has a distinct burnt smell. The beef looks incredibly low quality, I am wondering if it’s even beef. This is quite possible the worst food I have had the displeasure to order in Bicester in the 11 years I have lived here. The owner should be ashamed to put their name to this food. I am not looking for a refund or any kind of retort from the restaurant, this is simply a warning to other residents in Bicester. Beware!

Ordered prawn dish they had no prawns so switched to chicken but still got charged for prawns

Delivered in estimated time. Which considering it was NYE was superb. The crispy shredded chicken wasn’t very crispy but was still tasty. Was a little more expensive than our usual go to place but it would have been a 2 hour wait for that one. All in all still happy with our meal. Thank you

Food was almost cold and the Pad Thai was probably the worst I’ve ever had - tagliatelle pasta, not noodles! Chicken satay was hard and crab cakes were like rubber. Won’t be ordering from them again.

Poor The first time the food was excellent! I went back the next weekend with my husband! Terrible treatment, horrible food and the bill was very expensive. I do not recommend it.

I ordered the fried rice for my parents and they said the rice felt like it was just pullled outside the fridge and reheated. The food was so bad that they were just forced to give to the dogs. Absolutely disappointed with the quality and I would stay away from them if I were you.

The food was cold when it arrived. But the worse thing was all the extra costs. Service charge bag charge etc. but the delivery cost was £5. It was just ridiculous.

Original delivery time was 5.35pm to 5.55pm, order eventually arrived at 6.35pm.

I like this place when I am coming here for the bottomless sushi brunch, however to order a takeaway is a biggest mistake you could do. We spent like 30 pounds, just for two small portions of noodles and delivery charge which was £6!!! The food had no flavour at all, portions were minimalistic if you compare them to any other Chinese shops in Bicester. It is the worst Chinese food for delivery I would say. And one more time want to stress out that when you dine in it is like different place and service, food and prices are totally fine :D

Probably the worst King Prawn Curry we have ever had. Prawns no taste whatsoever, they just tasted of water. The curry sauce was also very bland and lacking in any taste or flavours. Ended up throwing it away as was inedible really. Very disappointing as have used this establishment before ( not for curry ) and it was very nice.

Always early, always the best quality food (although the crispy seaweed changed recently and isn't as good sadly). I would not get Chinese food - or sushi - from anywhere else. Also very quick and helpful when something is missing.

Very bad tasting food, asked the waitress for some vinegar, she went to the kitchen for a few minutes and came out like nothing happened and didn't tell you if there was any or not, you had to ask again and got a reply that there was no vinegar. Can you believe that a restaurant telling you they have no vinegar?

Food was lukewarm. Crispy beef was more like soggy beef and sweet & sour sauce was very watery and runny. App was never updated and was delivered early and I was never updated as to ETA or when out for actual delivery. Very medicore.

Comprehensive menu. Good value, great quality food which arrived piping hot. No apparent MSG or similar high sodium flavourings. Looking forward to ordering again. But we had no use for the complementary bottle of Tango.

Ordered from here before but this time it was poor. Sweet and sour was pale pink and you couldn’t tell or taste the difference between the pork and chicken. The deep fried beef was limp and pale. Not good at all!

Been here 3 moths ago and just remembered what a crazy experience this was. Sushi was alright but whatever you do just DO NOT get PAD THAI noodles. It tastes like sweaty feet and I am not joking. Worst dish of my life. Also we have been told by the owner/waitress that if we were unable to finish all of our portions we had to pay extra which we literally struggled as we were stuffed but had to finish so we didn’t pay extra which is bizarre, you can t force someone to overeat. Just don’t bother going and spending useless money

Ordered from here because Rice King was closed on Tuesdays…bad Mistake. The delivery was 2 hours late and when arrived it had as awful smell and taste, like a burt smell and flavor that was unmanageable. We all ordered chicken chow mein and no one could eat it. Luckily we had some frozen pizza in the freezer as a backup. £30 wasted on garbage that was two hours late. Never again! Hope you enjoyed the £3 tip.

I called the restaurant twice to get the delivery. It took about 2 hours. Will not order again.

The food was not great, sweet and sour chicken was over cooked and the sauce was like vinegar runny and overpowered with vinegar. Ribs were dry covered in pure honey. Special fried rice was very bland, the only nice dish was beef and mushroom. Extremely disappointing

food quality wasn't that good this time considering we paid £50 there wasn't a lot of food 6 very small chicken wings we got for £8.40 that's terrible and the h'ors d'oeuvere were really small and not worth the nearly £12 we paid for it also in the food itself there seem to be hardly any meat in it and more veg

Looking at the menu online looks great. NEVER order from here for delivery!!!! Estimated arrival was 21:30, received at 22:25!!! When I phoned the restaurant at 22:00 was rudely told to wait as food was given to Driver over 20 minutes earlier. Some of the food looked undercooked and EVERYTHING was cold. No customer service skills when I phoned restaurant either and delivery guy was just as bad. Definitely will NOT be ordering from here again, very VERY disappointed!!!

I cannot recommend Bamboo House highly enough. It wasn't the first time in Bamboo. It's always amazing. Foods are freshly and tasty. Fresh is the most important thing for sushi or sashimi dish. Bamboo house can keep the highest quality all the time.

I went in to get some answers to Google questions and was absolutely surprised by how spacious and vibrant the place is. I love it! ❤️ Naturally, I had to try their food as well, and it didn't disappoint. The waiter was really helpful in assisting me with choosing the right dish, as I am a bit of a picky eater. Their recommendation was spot on. As I cleaned my plate! 😁 I am definitely coming back with friends, and I’m planning to try the sushi next time. It looks so good!

Excellent food couple of orders wrong but its an all you can eat venue with food served to the table nice staff greast sushi lovely place will revisit if ever back in the area well done guys.

We have date on our wedding anniversary and choose bamboo house. First what we see is atmosphere the wallpaper come off, one lady waitress on a rush. Food was very dry, feels not really fresh, portions are so tiny. For few small plates and two cokes we paid 64£. I feel is absolutely ridiculous. The Chinese take away in town center Wah hong deserve 5 stars if compare... Not recommend this place.

I just went to there and had their new menu ( Chicken ramen ) and egg fried rice. I really disappointed with my food. Chicken is the main in the Chicken Ramen, is it right?. I couldn't eat any of chicken pieces because it was so hard to chew also very smelly. Maybe the chicken was uncooked . The noodle as well. Egg fried rice was so dry. Very disappointed with their food and service! Also they took service charge without saying. With this food and service, is it right to do that?

supposed to be about 1800 arrived around 1730 curry sauce was Thai green watery rubbish , chilli beef strips glutinous stoggy ,sweet and sour sauce tasteless and watery very disappointed would not recommend

Have given one star in order to share a review. Menu looks lovely but didn't have allergy info clearly shown, (unclear photo on Google photos said enquire when ordering) so called up before we ordered as I am Coeliac.. so need Gluten Free. Person on phone didn't know what Gluten was so we couldn't safely order anything. We therefore went elsewhere. Disappointed as it looked lovely.

Sadly, I won’t try here again, due to it not being up to the same standards as other takeaways. The food was very bland, chips / prawn crackers tasted old and the squid was flavourless…….just not great I’m afraid.

the chicken Balls were over cooked. chicken was very chewy & not tender. The batter was dark brown & not golden brown. I only ordered on here because I didn't have cash on me to pay for my normal restaurant & didn't want to collect. I feel I wasted my hard earned money.

Delicious sushi rolls! I've no idea how anyone can eat more than two rounds of food but I'm willing to keep trying! It's £25 all you can eat plus service. Which when you see how much you get is brilliant value, especially given the quality of the dragon rolls.

My friend and I were very happy with our choice of venue for lunch today. The food was delicious (I had King Prawn and Cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce with fried rice). Yummy! Our waitress was lovely and looked after us really well. I will certainly go back. I only gave 4 stars for atmosphere because it was a quiet time.

Quickly served. Ordered a mushroom fried rice to take out. The rice was rubbery, stale and chewy, the mushrooms were tasteless and pale and exploded with old oil tastes. The whole dish was swimming in oil, tasted terrible and I didn’t finish it. Their food isn’t fresh and simply fried and slung in a box. I wouldn’t trust it on my guts again.

It was all very dried up and the prawn toast and some of the chicken balls were un edible not very nice

Very good fresh food. Mainly had sushi which was wonderful. Only downside, was it was so cold in the resturant. Most customers were eating with their coats on, but it was very cold outside too.

I recently dined at this restaurant in Oxford, and the culinary experience was consistently excellent. The chef's skill in crafting beautifully presented dishes with fresh and high-quality ingredients truly stood out. The kitchen staff was friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere. However, the one drawback that prevents me from returning frequently is the inconsistent service from a particular waitress. At times, her demeanor can be rather rude and abrupt, even enforcing arbitrary rules like limited sushi ordering times. While I can't confirm if she's the owner, it's crucial for her to reconsider her approach, as several friends I recommended had a similar experience, leading them to avoid returning. Despite the outstanding cuisine, it's disheartening that such exceptional food is accompanied by subpar service.

Exceptional Japanese food. The "all you can eat" menu is exceptional, the staff are excellent - friendly, attentive and quick. The restaurant is a little basic, but I can not rush forgive that as the investment is all in the food. We go there about almost weekly. Best food within 10 miles of Bicester.

I’ll start by saying I have eaten here 2 times before and the food has been much better. And also that they did seem incredibly busy, however! The food tubs we all half full as you can see from the pictures. Including chips and prawn crackers. The Tom yum soup was half full and had no ingredients in it, except 2 small prawns and a tiny amount of cabbage. The Thai green curry chicken was runnier than water, no starch added to thicken it up. The service was poorer than normal and more rude, and to top it off, they tried to charge me twice! I’m not sure I’ll be going back, I certainly will never order take away again!

The egg fried rice was at least a few days old. Smelled so bad we had to bin it. Chicken portion looked like someone had already eaten half of it. Squid was also not good at all. Noodles were ok this is why I rate it 2 stars and not 1.

Never had such an unpleasant meal. Waitress and boss were flirting behind the counter and ignored the customers, causing delays in us being served. The worst thing was the waitress’s professionalism - put her finger inside the dishes, disgusting

The egg fried rice was old. The rice smelt as soon as i opened the rice smelt bad like an old rice. Also there was literally 5 tiny pieces of egg in my fried rice

Great variety and loveeeeee the sushi! All delivered earlier than expected time. Perfect choice takeaway if your party all love different foods types. Something for everyone and all excellent! Definitely recommend!
