This has to be one of the worst takeawys ever. This place has been down before but bounced back. This time there is no-where to go, its a gonner. Hard chewy meat ( not sure what it even was) Could have been chicken beef or duck and it was in a special chow mein. I didn't eat it, can't do that to my tum. No spice, no taste, nothing to recommend it at all and yet they keep putting their prices up. These are two regulars signing off.

We usually get our Chinese from neighboring villages, which unfortunately were closed this evening and so we thought we would give "Peking Chef" a try. What a mistake. We ordered online and was shocked at the high prices, but went ahead in the hope this would indicate that it is quality food, and I don't mind paying a more if the food is good. We ordered 2 chow meins, king prawn balls in batter and rice and chips. The chow meins I can only describe as over cooked, stodgy and bland. The chicken one hadn't had the chicken cooked through you could tell it had already cooked chicken pieces chucked into the mix and it completely lacked any flavour at all. As for the prawn balls - they were stodgy thick batter, that was completely uncooked around the prawn. The chips (which cost over £3.00 a portion!!!) were dried up and tasted old, like they had already been cooked. When we looked at the leaflet we also discovered that we had paid far above the usual prices due to ordering online - costing us around 7/8 pounds more than on the menu and this was not stated on the website. Terrible food which ended up in the bin. Next time I will definitely be going elsewhere.

I hate chinese food so was reluctant to say the least. However what a surprise! The food we ordered was amazing. We ordered a starter and mains and even though my partner couldnt find the take away, they called us and he eventually found the place. The food was hot and ready for us. The service was excellent. We had to pay in cash though. They didn't have a card machine Everythng tasted brilliant and we shared out all the dishes. The prawn toasts were nice and thick and not greasy. The sauces were flavoursome and the vegaetables presented with the duck were finely chopped. The shredded duck was best of all with the paper thin pancakes an hoisin sauceThe Seaweed was perfect. We also had the chinese fortune cookies to finish off with... All in all it was the best chinese to whet my appetite for it again. Thank you.

Ordered four mains, rice and a couple of side dishes. Asked to collect in half an hour. When we arrived (a little early) the order was just being put together. All the dishes were very clean (no dirty oil used) tasty and fresh. Had; ribs, duck, sweet and sour king prawns, house special chow Main, Szechuan king prawns, a vegetarian dish which they modified for us, rice and prawn crackers (free). All excellent. Would highly recommend and will definitely use again. The best Chinese takeaway in Horncastle

Trying to be objective - poor in all areas, little meat/prawns in meals, pretty tasteless and too many £s. Will try Kings Treasure instead next time

I'd been recommended to this takeaway by several people so gave it a go on a Friday evening. I phoned up and places order and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes! Brilliant. Portions were good especially the rice. Will definitely use again. Readers need to be aware new management took over I think October 2017 so any reviews prior to that aren't useful.

Here the new menu was sampled following the Christmas break after the new proprietors/ staff opening up in November. A varied selection of takeout courses were chosen for an evening family meal; chicken with mushroom, chicken with cashew nuts, vegetable spring rolls , plain and egg fried rice, water chestnuts with bamboo shoots and sweetcorn, along with sweet and sour sauce . The meal also came with complementary crispy and tasty prawn crackers. All options were well cooked, piping hot, tender and tasty making for another pleasant family meal at home.

Visited the Chinese for a quick meal after work one night as long hours for myself and my husband just meant we weren't in the mood to cook. Food as usual was delicious. We had some rice and starters and shared a set meal. Well worth a visit. Lovely food and lovely staff.

There's a reason why this place is the longest standing Chinese takeaway in horncastle! The duck dishes are awesome and the food has flavour. A must try!

We had a takeaway from here last Saturday for mother's day and I wish we hadn't bothered. I love sweet and sour chicken but unfortunately it was more sour tasting, a bit too sharp. Also the prawn crackers were tasteless. Don't go here unless you are absolutely starving and the prices are quite high much cheaper here in Sheffield.

I have been visiting the Bamboo Garden for many years and I would recommend it to everyone ! The food is fabulous - one of the best Chinese take aways I've tried. The chilli beef in particular was brilliant ! A lovely family run take away. Constantly cooked to perfection with lovely friendly staff.

I recently had the misfortune to order a takeaway for my family from the Bamboo Garden. Truly awful !one meal went straight in the bin after one mouthful, greasy, slimy, watery sauces, lack of vegetables and dont get me started on the quality of the beef, this was disgusting. Do not waste your money on going there.

A hardworking small takeaway supplying the Lincolnshire Wolds with good no-frills reasonably priced Chinese food of consistently good quality. A comprehensive menu quickly prepared with a smile. Popular with the local population and visitors to the Wolds alike, the Bamboo Garden has been open for business for many years which speaks volumes in itself!

God, this place is bad. Food is just wrong. The women at the counter was so rude, but it's all down to the food, and wow, iv never tasted rubbish like it. The curry was like water no taste at all the ribs. I don't think they were from a pig all went in the bin, and I didn't take it back beacause I didn't want an argument with the nasty women at the counter please stay away

Called up, thought the bloke on the end of the phone was being rude but then remembered the name of the restaurant, not sure if intentional but hilarious nonetheless. Great food

Collected a takeaway - King prawn fried rice, curry sauce chips, and salt & pepper spare ribs with curry sauce and chips. The chips were tasteless and like cardboard, the curry sauce had a weird, sweet aniseed taste, and the prawns were few and far between, AND tasteless. More expensive than wed normally pay, too. Won't be returning.

Tried The golden Mill as we have a lodge on a nearby caravan park, What more can I say................Absolutely blown away with the quality of the food from this family run restaurant. We Called in, Placed our order and waited, The order phone was ringing none stop, The que for food was out the door. We had to wait 20 mins for our food, was it worth the wait, OMG yes. Best chinese we have had in 3 years. We have been twice now and its been amazing every time. Please be prepared to wait for your order as everything is cooked fresh. They do not do delivery, otherwise they would need 5 delivery drivers !!!. Call in the Bell hotel for a beer while you wait, The family spend all afternoon preparing the food so you know its fresh. Don't rely on my words, Go and try it out!!(but not too often as we will have to wait 25 mins LOL)
