Ordered a takeaway at 20:00 on Wednesday for collection at 21:00, was told I had to collect earlier as they were thinking of closing early (that should of sounded alarm bells). Ordered two chicken vindaloo's, rice, cheese nan, keema nan and mushroom bajahi. The vindallo's were very watery, bland and very mild. Rice was OK, keema nan was tasteless and the mushroom bajahi was just mushrooms in a tub, not what I was expecting, this too was tasteless. £35 spent, most of it went in the bin. Struggling to find a really good Indian in the forest, but this was beyond dreadful.

Visited here last night - didn't have to wait long for the food and everything was good! No complaints, the chicken bhuna was lovely, as can sometimes be a bit bland depending on where you go but here it was really tasty! The nice guy who served us was friendly and made us welcome. Thanks Balti Hut! :-)

We are staying in Coleford on holiday just up the road from the Balti Hut. This place seemed to have the most consistent positive reviews so we phoned up for a collection order and it was ready in 20 minutes. We had the balti house special wrap which was very nice and a tandoori chicken masala, pilau rice and garlic nan. All very tasty and generous portions, good quality chicken and lots of it. It could have been a bit hotter but that was the only negative. Decent prices and very friendly staff.

Great little cosy place on the high street opposite the Police Station. Free parking right outside. Walk in, sit down and eat. Although this place may not look that appealing from the outside , the friendly attentiveness of the staff makes it a good choice. The food here can be eaten in or taken away . The food is actually pretty amazing. We have been to hundreds of Indian takeaways and the quality of the food here is amazing. Vegetarian friendly and bring your own alcohol but they do have soft drinks . Will visit here again when in town.

The foods great however whenever i call to order I’m always made to feel like I’m an inconvenience to them. The food takes ages, hour and a half to wait this evening, often it’s not hot when you get home. I feel as if the person I’m speaking to doesn’t actually want my custom. I can appreciate them being busy however I was on the phone for over half an hour trying to get through. Despite this the food Is delicious.

Staying up the road less than 10 mins away at Forest Holidays. It’s a simple drive to and back from here, they don’t deliver. The food was still piping hot when we got back and tasted amazing. We’ll be coming back just for this takeaway next year. We picked up a menu earlier in the day and only had to wait 30mins once we’d phoned through our order for 6 main meals.

Went to Balti hut tonight to take a break from the cooking in a nearby campsite. Immediately walking through the door, the staff were very welcoming and attentive. The food was good however the chicken in one of the curries was a bit dry so it wasn’t perfect. The cobra lager bottles they have are to die for too. Thankyou very much. We may return!

We visited last night and I must day the food was delicious! Staff very accommodating as one of us were on crutches, and the service was faultless! Started with poppadoms and dips, and my only issue of the whole meal was poppadoms seemed a bit burnt. Rest of the meal was outstanding with some of the best naan breads we’ve seen! Just got back from a lovely meal at the Balti Hut. The staff were friendly and didn’t rush you even though they were busy. So if you like this type of food then this is the best place to go in town. Have had a couple of nice takeaways so decided to try eating in as i always think the food is better. Wrong. Not only was the food rather average with some rather undercooked potatoes and rather tired popadoms, but the ambience was awful. It is definitely geared up for takeaways as the place was constantly full of people waiting to pickup, going in and out,and the extremely loud phone never stopped ringing. We overlooked an open door to the kitchen, not very inspiring, and the worst thing was a tv in the corner showing a noisy action film. All not very condusive to an evening meal so will stick to takeways! Shame, people are friendly and have had some nice food from them in the past.

Had a choice of 3 Indian restaurants locally and chose this one, service good, interior a bit exposed, very busy with takeaway customers which tends to clog up the premises, the food was unfortunately a bit bland and the biryanis were greasy in taste, will give it another go and try something which may have more flavour. Great shame as it came highly recommended.

Went here with The Wife for the £10, three course meal deal. A virtually full restaurant and a steady stream of take away orders led toma 35 min delay on our starters being delivered. The food was a bit underspiced but cooked fresh to order and of excellent quality. My sister and I visited on a mid-week evening while staying in the Forest of Dean. We were the only diners so the atmosphere was unsurprisingly lacking but so were the food and the service. We are both vegetarian and found that there were very limited non-meat/fish options. As a result we both opted for the vegetable biryani which we found to be bland and completely lacking in any taste of spices. The service was perfunctory and lacking any warmth.

Last minute idea to go out for a meal rather than a take away for a change. They do a special offer on Thursdays ans Sundays - starter, main, rice or Nan and ice cream or coffee for £9'95 great value as you can choose anything from their normal menu not like other restaurants where there is a limited choice. Unfortunately we couldn't choose this option for our 2 nine year olds who wanted to share a meal. Food was good quality and good sized portions but I do question why the need for so much red food colouring. Kids had Tandoori Chicken Tikka Masala which was bright red and also a little too sweet tasting even for their taste. Lamb Madras was tasty with a little spice but good quality meat.Polite and attentive staff.Overall pretty good.

Forget the decor (or lack of it) this family travel down from Birmingham every evening to prepare wholesome Asian cuisine to the highest standard. We were staying at a B&B outside Coleford so thought we'd come in to town to find somewhere to eat. We'd read some previous reviews and thought this place was worth a try. We are both vegatarian but this has never previously been an issue in any curry house. The "Chef's Specials" were exclusively meat and fish based or you had a list of stock curry types (balti, vindaloo, massala etc.) and the option for meat, prawn or veg. One of the specials had looked interesting, a type of spicy noodle dish - maybe a bit of fusion inspiration we thought. What arrived appeared to be spagetti covered in curry powder with a handful of frozen chopped veg, cooked and thrown on top and the lasting flavour of chip shop curry sauce. The restaurant had a TV playing throughout. The place is quite small and there were a number of other groups eating there. The service was OK but in all fairness that doesn't count for that much when the quality of food was so poor. Maybe it was a one off, maybe we chose the wrong dish, maybe they were having a bad night - I don't know. What I do know is that it rates as the worst curry I have ever had (and I have some experience!). I should have researched more and made the effort to go to Monmouth. Should you ever find yourself starving in Coleford - I would not recommend this place.

We spent a family holiday in Gloucestershire over the half term break and had booked another local restaurant for Sunday lunch. Unfortunately we’d been let down as our booking hadn’t been taken properly however they did us a big favour as we then phoned The Red Hart who were able to accommodate 9 of us for Sunday lunch at very short notice, our ages ranging from 17 to 87! We knew the pub previously having spent several family holidays at Blaisdon Hall as kids. The staff at The Red Hart were really welcoming, it’s a great little country pub and the food was amazing. We returned for dinner a few evenings later. I would highly recommend it!
