A great Indian restaurant with friendly staff, good service, good food and it offers value for money. Take your own alcohol but a range of soft drinks is on offer. Not our first visit and won’t be our last. If you are in Newent, definitely one to try 😋

Yummy, mixed naan delicious.. seasonings and filling in said naan are actually evenly distributed throughout.

Friendly welcome from the start, and the very pleasant and helpful youg man even asked the kitchen to make me a Tawa which was not actually on the menu. The Tawa was exactly as requested. All in all a great experience

The food is ok, not anywhere near my favourite Indian but better than Bombay. Service seems to be declining. It's a lucky dip re takeaway orders and what you will actually get. We didn't get the correct curries last time and the time before that the chips we paid for were missing. Sometimes we get multiple sauces and salads and other times none at all, regardless of the number of poppadoms we order. It really is luck of the draw and it is rritating.

Been here a fair few times due to the food usually being great. Last few times we had visited the food just gradually got worse. The service is also VERY poor, one of the main waiting staff may i add is very rude, very clingy whilst we eat which leaves us feeling very uncomfortable, this particular member of staff also has made inappropriate comments towards us. Went to this restaurant last night only to end up being forgotten, disrespected and food poisoned. Will not be chancing again

Food was nice and cost about right for the area. Service was reasonable and an overall nice guy but ordered a beef danshak (menu stating chicken or beef) only for a lamb danshak to be served. Not a problem for me but good job I like lamb 😂 mother in law ordered a medium curry only for her brains to be blown out with spice. Also extras added to bill and when question told "it's easy done with touch screen issues" - can't fault your response and love a tryer to be honest 😂 we were right next to the toilets with people constantly leaving the door open but, small place so not really their fault!!That being said I would come back and be worthy of a visit to anyone considering 👍

Our first visit and so glad we tried it. Friendly attentive staff , the best Biryani, Passanda, and Tikka Massala ever, and we know our curry!

Takeaway. Chicken was dry, hardly any sauce on the meat so very little o eat with the rice. Onion bhajis totally undercooked and dry inside, tasteless and they forgot to put in the side dip and salad. Totally disappointing. My partners curry was more acceptable but very watery . To top it off had to wait over 15 minutes for collection. Despite already waiting an hour, although it was still Luke warm. All in all awful

Ordered takeaway at 18:48, collection time on email stated 19:26. I arrived at 19:20, obviously said hi to the front of house, but after waiting until 19:45 had nothing. Reminded them I was waiting, “o be right with you” eventually left with the food at 20:15. Then found the naan bread not in bag so had to go back. Flippin ridiculous! Quick acknowledgment of the issue, but no discount applied, no please come again next time etc. That’s nearly an hour of my life I won’t get back! It was our 1st indian meal and we was enjoyng all the good taste and all the nice flavor of chicken tikka masala,i will definitely try again

Each dish had its own distinctive flavours- no standard curry here. The food was hot and carefully served, initially by the waiter. The items on the menu were clearly described and further elaboration readily provided, if requested, by the staff. Bangladeshi , rather than just Indian, dishes were particularly good eg. Chicken Nilgri, Dahl makani! Staff were attentive but not overly. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, excellent food, good service. What not to like? little gem in a sleepy town fantastic

One of the best curries I've ever tasted but don't get chips as a side, too thin and not tasty.

The vindaloo curry from here hurt a lot coming out the other side! Mein arsch was about as hot as the hell a certain German man from 1945 ended up in!. Highly recommend.

The food was as good as ever Portions were good size and very flavoursome. Service was excemplary, prompt and helpful with suggestions to make our food and meal more enjoyable. Atmosphere in restaurant was bit flat as no music and few light bulbs were out, so it was bit darker than usual. But because we were a group eating we made our own atmosphere so it did not matter too much.

We came to Newent on a night away and visited the Tandoori for dinner. We arrived at 5pm (7th July) and were greeted by Sunny/Sonny (apologies if spelt wrong!) He was extremely hospitable and welcoming. Interacted with us and couldn’t do enough. Food was lovely and fresh and arrived quickly. Thank you to you and the chefs. Rob

The prawn pakora was unusual but lovely with a madras sauce and nice that you can take your own drinks wine etc !

Absolute joke of a takeaway, food took an hour; when asked for a refund, the manager hid and wouldn't come out of the kitchen. Sticky floors, dark atmosphere, very unclean kitchen. Avoid at all costs.

Was a regular here. However what was ordered on 2 occasions to find order incorrect. Again today came home had same experience. Annoyed after I was told it was right. Food isn’t that wow either just not much option in Newent.

So I'm still here. 1h 10min after the collection time with nothing but "it'll 15 min" and the offer of a pen at the 1hr mark.

Bought takeaway. Our first choice for Indian Takeaway locally.

While visiting a friend i was treated to a very tasty curry from the Newent Tandoori. The service was brilliant and helpful explaining the dishes that would suit my friend and take the time to show us the deal they had on. Food was cooked to perfection and service was excellent. Would highly recommend.

We had a fantastic meal here. Delicious, perfectly clean, loads of variety and some really great sharing platters so you can have a bit if everything. Really fun conversation too. Having lived the last 15 years in Birmingham which is proud of its curry houses, even having a Balti triangle, I wasn't expecting much. However this was as good as any curry house I've been to in Birmingham Highly recommend

Awful service. Chap greeted us, didn’t even bother giving us a menu and then forgot about us! 20 mins later, still no menu or drinks order! Won’t be going again.

Friendly service by Sonni, food was absolutely fantastic - most tender meats I have ever eaten from an Indian takeaway. Good portions and very well cooked with fresh vegetables in the curry not frozen. Will definitely be using them again. Thankyou.

Really tasty food and the service was good. Only four stars because when coming to pay their card machine wasn't working so one of our group was frog-marched to a cash point down a pitch-black alley in a town we didn't know. Not a great experience.

I would normally order Indian food in Gloucester where I live, but I went here whilst in Newent. It was near closing time but they still took our takeaway orders. The staff are friendly and the food was amazing, full of flavour and great value! One of the best curries I've had in a long time. I had chicken madras, fried rice and Special Nann.

Fantastic Indian food in Newent!

Had a chicken pathia and pilau rice. My son had chicken sagwala and mushroom rice. 10/10 for all of it. I love pathia done properly this was bang on,hot, sweet and sour! Well worth the trip from Ledbury and free poppadoms. They also do a cheap deal for dining in Sunday to Thursday so well worth a visit.

Whatever you do , please do not use your time and money on Newent Tandoori . We ordered a meal and went to go and collect it , they gave us the wrong food , absolutely fine everyone makes mistakes … but we were made to come and collect our correct order as they said it would be 40 mins to deliver even though they said it was already ready . We got there and the manager was absolutely terrible , he said that he doesn’t care about us and we wouldn’t make a difference to his 1000’s of customers he gets through the door when we questioned him about refunding us. Legitimately said all those words . He wouldn’t give us a refund and our food for having to come in our car to come and get it and when I tried explaining that I myself am a manager so I know how customers should be treated he personally insulted me by saying I don’t know how you are a manager and called my partner stupid for thinking we were in the right by travelling twice . He kept repeating we don’t care, we’d rather lose your custom than our 1000’s of customers. I feel awful from the experience as I suffer with anxiety and so this is a plea , do not give this man your money. The food they did give to us by mistake they wanted to give to someone else even though it had been in our house for 20 minutes !!! Not covid safe at all .

A great curry with some friends. The Sheek Kebab was frankly the nicest I've had, a generous size, beautifully seasoned and cooked. This was followed by a Begum Bahar as a main, absolutely delicious. Helpings are a generous size, you won't leave feeling you need any more. Service was attentive without being intrusive, perfect.

Food excellent as always. Very tasty; wide selection of starters and main courses. Can thoroughly recommend the fish dishes.

We ate in the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, we really enjoyed it. Samosas were amazing. Generous portions and well presented. Not used the takeaway but the sit in option was very good. We’ll definitely be back.

Decent but not overwhelming curry house in downtown Newent. Take away only now (August '21) but still really busy and they seemed to struggle a bit getting food ready on time (and the right orders to the right people). But good enough and decent value.

I used this restaurant in June 2020 and swore I’d never go back. August 2021 I had no choice due to other local places closed on a Monday. If you want a lamb tikka starter don’t expect a salad or mint sauce…. Basic! Lamb madras…. Reconstituted lamb. Naan bread…. Clearly re heated. Honestly avoid this place it’s absolutely shocking and use the Bombay kitchen instead. Friendlier and more importantly food that is prepared not thrown together. This place is a dump!

Got a take away from here when staying locally, food was excellent & good portion size too.

This place used to be great but unfortunately it’s gone downhill in a big way. I think we’ve bought 4 times in the last 6 months and 3 of those times the order has been wrong. The chicken is dry, the naans are doughy, the curries are pretty flavourless. I think these guys have chosen volume over quality, which is a shame for a place which used to be THE place to go on a Friday/Saturday night.

We had a set meal for 4 people ( take away) ,the service was prompt and very professional . The meal was piping hot and extremely well presented . Generous portions , so good we are having the same again this week . brilliant well done all.

Usually decent curry but can never understand why they give you a bag of onion salad and no poppadoms with a takeaway and there's no salad given with starters! We come here for a takeaway because the slop in Ledbury is horrible but prefer malvern overall

We had a lovely tikka masala on Saturday but had ordered plain pilau rice. They gave us keema rice,which completely spoilt the meal,as we don’t eat mince meat.

Sorry guys but you must already know that you are not serving authentic Indian food. My takeaway tonight was mostly inedible and ended up in the bin.

Ordered a vindaloo and it was awful, not even spicy and tasted really bad. The naan bread was not good either

One member of staff that works on front of house is the reason I will never be returning to this restaurant. Rude, impatient, unaware, the adjectives are endless... He has no customer service skills whatsoever and is completely and utterly rude, every time. I will never be returning and have told everyone the same.

Really lovely, friendly service. Tried a new curry a Kurma Mogol, could definitely appreciate the flavours but was just not the one for me unfortunately, kids enjoyed it though. Onion bhajis were brill.

Ordered both veg and non veg food. Always ask for less oil if you prefer, they will.accommodate. Veggie menu recommendation onion bhaji, labra and spicy dal. Great combo

I have been a customer for many years. Recently ordered a takeaway and honestly it was a horrible experience. I understand that you might have an off day when you are not feeling that friendly, but the younger gentleman that took my order was just rude. Made it seem like I was being unreasonable for just phoning up to order. If you want a customers money you have to atleast pretend to value their custom.That being said, the takeaway food is the same standard that it has always been - it is very tasty.I was, however, disappointed that a few thing were missing from our order (this is an issue we have had before). Having also previously used the restaurant, I would strongly suggest people order a takeaway instead. Service in the restaurant was terrible and our food was cold. I think staff just struggle to balance the takeaway service with the restaurant.

We ordered a takeaway from here at 6pm on 20th July. The staff member when placing the order was incredibly rude. He literally shouted down the phone. They did say they were busy at the time, but this is no excuse. He should either be removed from his position or given training on customer relations. Very disappointing.

Used to be good food. Tonight I picked up the food took it home. We'll below the normal standard. Seems when Jay is on, good food, Saf on, poor food. I phoned and said it was bland and tasteless rubbery prawns . Saf told me they do not take criticism and they will not serve me again! 22 years we have used this restaurant. Now very upset. Poor customer service.

Authentic and delicious tandoori food. Been going for 10 years as a family. The best in Newent and surrounding area.

The decoration should be modern ou ecen contemporary but about Índia. Its old fashion. Poor ligthining. The korma should be less sweet, with less coconat. I ask for a sweet lassy and they brougth me a mango juice. Good portions thougth. Could be a better place.

This evening happened to be my first visit to the adorable little, quaint, province called Newent, bloody delightful might i add.Anywho i was passing by in my search for enlightenment and found myself a tad peckish arm in arm with a lovely young lass, our eyes met at the bar in the pub down the road, "oh the ale was flowing"We only nipped into the local eaterie Newent Tandoori only to hook up with this devilishly handsome young whippersnapper 'Sunny'.He was a one! Visited here for a takeaway order whilst staying at a nearby cottage for a holiday. Food was fantastic - we ordered a selection and all of it was very tasty. The meat dansak was our favourite. Would highly recommend.

Staying in the area for Christmas, we found this place online. Were from Birmingham and have an array of great Indian restaurants pretty much on our doorstep.Our food was excellent, my wife had Dopiaza and said she hadnt had one as nice for a long time and I had a meal I cannot remember the name of but I asked them if they did Naga Balti and they said yes but it had another name. Superb! Beautiful and authentic. Really happy with the food and the value for money. We will defo use this restaurant if we happen to be staying in the area againLovely

I came here last week for a meal with a friend and had a meal for one which is about 14 pounds, it was amazing and enough food for two as we shared, I had the signature dish Chicken Tikka paneer and it was delish!

Very good food always & friendly staff

Very slow service took an hour to get meal small party. One member of staff very condescending in his attitude. Late on in the evening intoxicated Male came in to the seated part of establishment and was using foul language all the time in a loud voice. Staff did try to move him away and when he refused staff left him where he was. Should have been refused service and ejected. On plus side the food as always was very good (when we eventually got it) Two customers walked out because they were waiting a long time to be served in the restaurant.

The food was fantastic and that’s coming from someone who can be quite picky. However, our waiter made me feel a little uncomfortable as he kept looking at my breasts when he thought I wouldn’t notice. He also called my mum “mummy” at one point which also made me rather uncomfortable.

We are on holiday for a week, this restaurant was recommended by the people we are renting from. Totally did not disappoint, the Tandoori mixed grill was to die for. Lovely and tasty and plenty of food. Would do recommend, absolutely delicious, and great value for money.

Great food at this place ! Small and intimate setting if you eat in, if you take away it’s easy to order, and food is always great quality and generous portions!

My niece is right when she says how delicious the food was and we'll struggle to get her to go anywhere else during our holiday. Add to that some outstanding and friendly service and you've got an excellent venue.

I came here with a friend and had the meal deal which was a starter, rice and meal for 13.95, it was tasty and there was sooo much food I couldn't finish it, very full!

I had a meal here with family for a relative's birthday. I'm not a big curry fan, so it wouldn't have been my first choice, but we had a really good evening. The food was very good and the portions were very generous. The fact that they are not licensed is a bonus - taking your own beverages cuts down on cost. My only complaint was that by the time my naan came out, my curry was nearly cold, but everything was delicious.

One veggie and one meat eater. Meat dish was by all accounts pretty good. Veggie dishes were sadly pretty poor. We ordered a take out, service on the phone was pretty rubbish and the same again on collection. Hate to leave bad reviews but like to keep things real. If this is the best curry house in Gloucestershire, I dread to think what the rest are like.

Few of me and my friends visited Newent Tandoori Recently and again this place was consistent as always every dish was very tasty butter Chicken Fantastic. Tetul Lamb superb never had this dish I’m glad I tried it .

Lovely food and great service, we definitely be going again.

I'd give it a 0 if it was possible. The lamb was inedible, the prawns were massively overcooked, the vegetable dish(Dall masala) was practically mush, literally nothing was nice. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone as this was possibly the worst Indian takeaway I've ever had.

Food was excellent. Service possibly a little slow if youre in a hurry. Friendly staff. Although did have to ask three times for a glass of lemonade! Would possibly eat here again in the future.

We’ve always used this place for takeaway, and they have always been great at accommodating food allergies. So we decided to go and have a sit down meal in their restaurant, taking our young toddler and my mother (4 adults 1 child) they had a couple of other tables, one just finishing up and paying. We had phoned to book, and when we arrived we were shown to a table.

Meh! Indifferent service. Unclean restaurant. Scores on the doors need to visit places a month after scoring them to see how it all falls apart. Have succeeded by having no competition on sit in Indian cuisine.

(This should have been a warning) once inside he told to sit down and started hoovering the Floor around us. He was then on the phone to what sounded like a mate shouting about personal life, he took ages to get our drinks which was simply 2 glasses of coke out of a big bottle (we were the only ones there!) he then answered the phone and said he was the manager. If this is the case, then he should not be on the floor. The finally once our food came he stood over us talking to us whilst we were trying to eat. In the chicken dish the chicken was pink and stringy. Would not recommend to anyone and will not be returning.

It’s lovely to have this so close. What’s really great is the Bengali dishes, so not the standard British curry favourites but ones that use more authentic ingredients. Food is always tasty and great value for money.

I had a tandoori mixed grill and my partner had a garlic chilli lamb both were amazing, sunny made our visit as he is very chatty and makes everyone very welcome. we will definitely be going back

Food was fantastic. The waiter however, was consistently trying to creepily flirt with our female colleague, which made her feel very uncomfortable. Understand your boundaries as a waiter as this was pretty unprofessional.

We got in, had a lovely meal honestly the food was great. But my wife accidentally left her phone. I called them and they said they had it. Good stuff, but upon collection I’m told to take a seat. A member of staff then comes out and tells me that I need to check for my phone before I leave. Doesn’t sound too bad right? Wrong, he said it in a very patronising manner and rudely. Like we didn’t mean to leave it, we didn’t want to drive all the way back to the restaurant to grab it.

Had several take aways from here recently and never disappointed. Large enough portions for sharing between friends. Great value too.

Weekly treat. Since changing my dietary requirements the restaurant caters to them with ease. I often ask for things not on the menu and the chef hasn’t let me down yet. The young lad on the front desk is funny and polite as too is the older gent. All lovely people. I love the onion bhajis and nans. They do a lovely curry with lime which is a perfect contrast of spice and acidic flavours. Well worth a visit or take away for Netflix.
