Baloci in Birmingham

Really nice decor. Parking on site. The waiter was really hospitable and kind and was attentive throughout not sure of his name. However the food does not justify the price at all. I ordered the baloci breakfast and one of the poached eggs was runny and the other was dry. Very small portion sizes. We also ordered the omelette with sourdough bread but the bread was rock hard. When we told the waiter this he did give some Persian bread to make up for it. Total bill was £70 for 3 breakfasts and tea/coffee. Wouldn’t personally go here again unless you wanna still be hungry afterwards.

Went there for an anniversary meal and had the afternoon tea. The place is nicely decorated and the staff and very friendly and helpful. The food is quite good but for me it was the ambience and atmosphere that really stood out. There is parking at the rear, call ahead for the code. By the way, the exit from the car park is next to the entrance.

Treated the better half to Afternoon Tea here for her birthday. On arrival we were greeted by front staff who were polite, informative and also took notes on dietary requirements that I had passed on booking. We were take to the red room where Alicia was our waitress. She explained everything really well and was also aware of the dietary requirements. The selection of sandwiches and desserts that we had were really nice, the chicken sandwich was my favourite 👌🏽. However the Gulab Jaman Cheesecake wasn't far behind. We weren't rushed and took our time also having a selection of tea's. The masala chai was nice, though for me there probably needed a bit more masala in it, however that's just for my taste. The Heart of Persia Tea however was really nice and had a nice aroma as well as taste. So much so I ended up having a teapot to myself. The whole experience was amazing and something my wife fully enjoyed. One of the biggest points to this review is the service mainly provided by Alicia. She was so friendly and couldn't do enough. From the many restaurants I've been to, Alicia's service definitely left an impression and is a huge credit to the venue.

A hidden gem close to the centre of Birmingham, we stayed in the Alexander room and it was a delight, steam room freestanding bath and a huge comfortable 4 poster bed, the decor finished to a high standard it’s clear a lot of thought has gone into the design and layout - can’t wait to try the other rooms, the service levels received from Richard and Alissia were fantastic, always going the extra mile and no request was too much! The breakfast options were plentiful and cooked to order it reminded me of back home such bold flavours and fresh, I look forward to visiting again soon, this is definitely my new place for Midland stays!

Came here for Drinks only as had booked a table elsewhere and wanted somewhere nice to for a drink beforehand. When I called I spoke to someone called Rich or was very professional and informative over the phone and said he would book us in the red room howver we could choose whichever when we came dependant on how busy it was. If it was very busy then we would have to sit in the blue room. Once we arrived we went into the red room howver actually preferred the blue room. Once seated we were told that someone would be with us shortly to take our order. We waited approximately 15 minutes and no one had come therefore, I had to go into the red room where the waiters were talking, I mentioned no one had come and we were restricted on time due to dinner elsewhere. Five minutes later a member of staff came I do not wish to name him as he said he was new and was polite but just was not very attentive as we were in a room where no one else was sat. He did drop a few things on the table but mistakes can happen which is fine. The room itself was very nice, as you can see from the pictures it looks very top end. We asked for soft back music to be played but after several attempts he said there was an issue. We only had time for 1 drink as there was a delay in bringing them out. We were there for 1 hour and 15 minutes and our drinks came out in the last 15/20 minutes. The drinks were nice. When I came to pay I was served by another gentleman called Andrei who was very good. He sorted the music out as we were leaving and then asked for feedback. Once I gave my honest feedback he knocked some money off the bill and gave a gold coin that you can see in the pictures, this he said was a token for one free drink of anything on the menu no limit on price. This was a nice touch. I would visit again to try the food or afternoon tea however I hope next time the service will be a lot better. I have put 2 star for service due to Rich and Andrei being so good however had to knock it down due to the other staff member being so bad.

Went to Baloci for dinner it was a great experience, stunning decor friendly staff and the food was amazing! We were served by Avinash throughout the evening he was very attentive and explained each dish which made the experience more personal we definitely felt welcomed. We will definitely be back 😄

The service was fantastic from start to finish , we ended up staying for over 5 hours enjoying the superb cocktails after our delicious lunch of small plates everything we ordered was cooked to perfection some so delicate and full of favour . Baloci's tasting menu was unbelievable. Food was incredible and the service we had was amazing. We went there for our one year wedding anniversary and we'll be going back!!

One of the best boutique hotels we’ve had the pleasure of staying in. Everything was on point from the taster menu we indulged in to the fantastic room and superb breakfast. But we have to reserve special mention for the service. Every single member of staff were immense. Could not fault it, highly recommended.

This is a hidden gem! If you are looking for afternoon tea with a twist, something so beautifully different to what we have come to expect, but that still has the comforts we all love, this is the place to come. The value for money is incredible and with refillable teas/coffees there's really not much more you can ask for. I came here with my wife on my birthday and the ambiance was very special. I'd also like to give a special shout out to Claire, who was so attentive and made the whole visit complete. We will certainly be back!

Came for one drink, left after lunch and several cocktails. Food was delicious however the cocktails were outstanding. Each cocktail was a treat, the flavours and different spirits created such a lovely experience. Later mentioned it was my birthday and was treated to a free cocktail. Very memorable birthday experience massive thank you to Andre and our lovely waiter! Will definitely revisit!

Worth every penny.. No better place to stay in Birmingham than Baloci.. The ambience is extra ordinary it takes you back to the royal luxury style of living in our modern world.. Excellent peacefull location with the best possible food i have had in the UK..

I stayed here whilst on business and it is probably the best room I have ever stayed in. Usually, I don't want to spend much time in a hotel room, but this was fabulous. I stayed in the Alexander the Great room which had its’ own four-poster bed and a steam room. Every amenity you could want was on hand. I dined in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast where the food was superb. This is not your standard hotel and the level of detail to the décor is amazing. The staff were very attentive, and I cannot recommend a stay more highly. It was around 15 15-minute walk into the centre of Birmingham too.

Such an incredible experience from both the whole dining element as well as the hotel stay. The restaurant really delves into the Indo-Persian realm and each guest is treated to a real touch of culture from the well thought out menu to the extraordinary decor and ambience. The staff are delightful and should be credited for enhancing the experience. If you are a connoisseur of drinks then you shouldn’t miss an opportunity to experience their Zoroaster bar downstairs - their knowledge and cocktail creations are a real treat and the live music is just the perfect end to the night! Last but certainly not least - the hotel stay! What an absolute dream to stay in the Taj Mahal Suite - words don’t quite do it justice but you are literally given a chance to experience the Indian palace - the attention to detail is faultless. I was lucky enough to be shown the other rooms which each have their own story and you will be taken back by the decor and the way they bring those stories and parts of history to life in each room. What a pleasure and an incredible addition to Birmingham!

Amazing experience! I had the vegan afternoon tea and it was so delicious. The decor is beautiful and the ambiance is very relaxing. The staff are lovely and friendly. I booked it as a treat during my day trip to Birmingham and will definitely come back if I travel in the area again.

This is a cosy and luxurious establishment, tucked away in what looked like a residential and affluent area of Birmingham. I went there for Sunday breakfast with a group of friends and had a very unique experience. The restaurant, which is part of a boutique hotel, is like nothing else I have experienced in the UK. It has the charm of old India with a creative Indo-Persian menu. The staff were very attentive and pleasant too. Highly recommended, if you want to experience something special and different.

one word: AMAZING!! My friends and I had afternoon tea here yesterday and it was one of the nicest afternoon tea I’ve had. Delicious sandwiches, and the Gulab jaman cheesecake was lovely. But best of all - is the service! From the friendly receptionist, to all the staff working inside the restaurant who were eager to serve us - they made the entire experience that much nicer. and a special mention to Murat, thank you for allowing us a tour of the rooms, your staff are great and just an overall great experience

We had such an amazing time. The restaurant vibes are very new and fresh. The food we had has lots of flavours in it and special thanks to our server saqulain who ensured everything was perfect and and made our experience extraordinary.

I have visited Baloci on many occasions and it has never disappointed. The restaurant/Bar has amazing decor giving you that warm cosy indo,Persian Feel, with amazing art work all around. The staff have always been welcoming and attentive. I have had their afternoon tea experience which consisted of tasty sandwiches to choose from including chicken, pulled beef and salmon, not to mention the delicious cakes to indulge in. They also have a wide range of tea selection, such as masala chai and Heart Of Persia Tea (my personal favourite) which makes them differ to many other afternoon tea places around. I also had their breakfast and would highly recommend this. If you’re looking for a unique experience with great ambiance Baloci is the place for you! I will be back to experience their dinner menu and over night stay :)

I went to Baloci with my 2 family members.We were greeted by a lovely receptionist.We went for the tradional afternoon tea.we requested 3 lattes but we wanted them quite hot.the lady said because they make it using the coffee machine so they can't make it any warmer.i requested the cardamom tea for myself which was very hot.the tea was 4/10 only because if you add sugar to it.the sandwiches weren't edible at all.no taste.the cheesecake had a very sour tasting cream on it.the barfi was not tasty.Overall for the price I would say it is not worth making a trip to this place.its hyped up a lot on social media but for someone who's been to decent and really tasty restaurants/cafes/fine dining I would not recommend this.

My daughter treated me to a birthday afternoon tea. The place was lovely. But the price was far too expensive for a very basic afternoon tea. The tea was pleasant, the sandwiches were ok, the sweet treats were not very nice, especially the pieces of barfi. Nice waiter but would not recommend this. Way too expensive!!!! Shame . They also charge us another £10 for service charge. Not good on top of £40 each for tea and 3 sandwiches

Yesterday evening, I made a last minute booking to Baloci for dinner with my sister. The service, food, and ambience was exceptional! Furthermore, it is one of the only fine dining restaurants in Birmingham where I found the cocktails and mocktails superbly delicious. Special kudos to the chef, and staff.

Really good tasting menu. Good variety of flavours from different parts including Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. There is good attention to detail like palate cleaners at correct intervals. The cocktails are really refreshing. Overall a very satisfying meal.

Enjoyed most of the afternoon tea items but I do wish they had a more extensive list. I think it’s a little pricey for what you get. The atmosphere is a little weird, it feels like you’re in someone’s very fancy house

First time and we tried the afternoon tea. I must say it was excellent. The sandwiches were sublime the beef and chicken particularly hit the spot. The scones were very good along with the clotted cream and jam. Desserts were surprisingly divine especially as they had an Asian twist. However the masala chai stole the show. Highly recommended and well worth the value for money. We had mocktails instead of the champagne brunch and it was actually really good.

Wow wow wow, what an absolutely amazing experience, from the guy that greeted us at the entrance to this exquisitely furnished venue, to the guys in the blue relaxation room, through to the main restaurant, the waiter took us through each detail of the food we were about to eat, and it tasted divine. We had the 6 course, and it was more than enough for us. Each course was so different to the next. And a feast for the eyes. The nice thing was that the restaurant was not overcrowded, so felt more exclusive and classy, we felt more attention to detail from the staff. After visiting Qavali and The Mayan, this was something so different in terms of atmosphere. Will definitely return! Thanks all for an enjoyable and memorable experience.

If you want to have a royal experience and mouth watering food , thus Is the place for you. The ambience and surroundings beats the king Palace and the service speaks standard. Definitely worth the visit.

Yesterday we went in Baloci Dessert was not worth it, fig shape and filling was not good,shape of ice cream was melted . Custard base was not tasty.

Delicious food in the most opulent setting. We had the 8 course tasting menu and particularly enjoyed Baloci's take on kabuli pilau, butter chicken, and nihari. Service was excellent and the journey through the various rooms is a completely unique offering unlike any other Birmingham restaurant.

Best fine dining in Birmingham. Food was delicious, service was super attentive and the decor was 👌. Had the 6 course tasting menu which was really nice. The only disappointing course was dessert which was a 4/10. Slightly random mix of sweet stuff. I'll definitely be going back!

Really enjoyed our visit to the Baloci which is in the former Edgbaston Boutique Hotel on the Highfield Road The owners have transformed the venue into a romantic Indo-Persian love affair. We started off with Queen cocktails in the sexy blue lounge before being escorted to the red dining room for an exquisite 10 course tasting menu “The Silk Road” experience. Our favourites were the Aegean seabass, the Afghan Kabuli Pulao and Delhi’s Butter chicken. All beautifully presented and wonderfully tasty. After our dessert of cardamom barfi and masala chai we were given a gold coin to gain entry into the Zoroaster Bar - a subterranean gold delight - where we enjoyed some cocktails against the backdrop of a live pianist. A truly memorable experience - can’t wait to go again. A must for those with impeccable taste.

An incredible dining experience like one I haven’t experienced before. You’re taken on a journey through different rooms such as the blue room for drinks and the red room for dining. The service was outstanding and the food was so flavoursome. Really can’t recommend Baloci enough!

My wife and I loved our VIP experience at Baloci,. Each dish was accompanied with its own story from the knowledgable and attentive staff. Some fine wines on the carefully selected wine offerings. A genuinely new and exciting addition to the dining scene. Very much looking forward to our return. Keep up the good work.

Wow! What a brilliant concept. I don’t want to say too much and spoil it, but the experience is a journey both through the venue and along the Silk Road. The menu is clever, getting more spicy (not hot ‘spice’, more flavoursome) as you journey along to Silk Road. The menu was varied, delicious and generous. There’s a good wine menu along with cocktails that follow the themes and flavours of the restaurant. The cocktails are excellent quality and if it was an option, I’d happily spend all night there once my meal was done sipping away. The staff were really friendly and not too stuffy or formal; we really felt at ease and the ambience was made even better by the lush decor and perfect playlist. We will definitely be heading back for more!

Had the most amazing experience at the beautiful Baloci restaurant last night. The decor was amazing and the journey taken through the Silk Road Tasting Experience was out of this world. The staff was attentive at all times and explained every dish when it come out for me to feel the experience of the 8 dishes. This is fine finish the highest level and the cocktails was all amazing. Can’t wait to go back there !

What an incredible experience! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with welcoming smiles and our coats checked in. We were then escorted to the blue room for cocktails which were all great. We had a combination of cocktails and mocktails. We also had a little bonus of a falafel starter whilst enjoying our drinks which were recommended by the bar staff. The decor in the room was fantastic. We were then escorted to the red room which is where we had our dinner which was also beautifully decorated. This is where the experience hit a whole new level. Every dish was breathtakingly good! I had zero criticism of any of the dishes (and that’s not like me as I can be a fussy eater). 2 stand out dishes were the seabass and the butter chicken. How they were able to layer the taste so it continued to change and refine whilst you ate is beyond me. I won’t review every dish as one should experience it themselves and I don’t want to ruin the surprise. After 8 rounds of amazing dishes we were given some gold coins which allowed us access to the speakeasy bar hidden underground. This was an incredible space to relax and enjoy another drink or two whilst we discussed the amazing dinner we had just had. I am no food critic or expert but if you want a special dinner experience for a family or couple, it’s definitely one to try. I can’t think of a better meal I’ve ever had! I’ve been raving about it to family and friends since! Thank you to all the staff at Baloci for an incredible evening. I will be back!

Had the most amazing electric fine dining experience at Baloci during the soft launch and this place. This is a totally different experience to all the fine dining experiences I've had. You get to go through a journey in each of the rooms where you will be trying different specially crafted drinks and the 8 course tasting menu is out of this world. Great execution and service from the team, will definitely be visiting this venue more often.

Quality food and Quality service. High end fine dining was met throughout the entire experience with the personality of the individual team members still shining through in service. Drinks are of a high standard and hits every flavour profile. Wine list is amazing, with a range of options to pair up perfectly with the food served. An amazing experience and definitely worth a visit!

Baloci took fine dining to another level. The experience was articulately designed to ensnare the senses and take you on a journey. It immediately felt that we had left Birmingham behind and delved into a wonderful historical culture. The food was exquisite and service impeccable, and my favourite part was indulging in the fine Baloci history ❤️ be sure to ask questions if you're inquisitive!

Had the most amazing evening at Baloci last night. Not only is the ambiance and decor beautiful throughout but the food is incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!! We started in the Blue Room where we were greeted and given some welcome drinks. As soon as you walk in you can see how much detail has gone into the design and how incredible the place looks. Also the ord like smell adds to the Persian experience. We then moved into the blue room and had the 8 course tasting menu. I have to say not one course disappointed. The waiter explained every dish in great detail, so my group understood where the influence came from. Timings were spot on so we had enough time between each meal. Potion sizes for a fine dining establishment were excellent as well so no complaints there. We ended the night in the secret room, literally a door leading downstairs to a bar I had no idea was there. Again it was beautifully designed and different to the other 2 rooms. As soon as we walked in, there was a pianist who was also singing. We ended up having a couple more cocktails which I would definitely recommend as the ingredients were fresh. Faheem the owner also took time out to speak to my group, what a top bloke he is and how down to earth he was. His passion definitely shows from start to finish in this restaurant. Thank you for the most amazing night, we will definitely be returning and hopefully get a membership for that secret room haha.

Wow. What an experience! From amazing cocktails in the Blue room, a delicious degustation in the Red room and then more drinks and music in Gold room. Highly reccomended.

A luxury, upmarket venue, with a brilliant experience ! Loved the decor, lightening, furnishings all felt like you were somewhere very special. The cocktail menu was unique with fresh new flavours, food was spectacular, you won't leave hungry that's for sure. The wines on offer catered for all tastes. Finally, the last of the experience, moving downstairs to the exclusive Gold Bar , what an amazing concept and space. Intimate, relaxed yet still full of opulence. Simply superb. Can't wait for my next visit!
