The karaoke manager is totally inept at his job. He will have the same person sing 3 times before one new singer and definitely has some strange criteria for picking favourites. (his friends maybe?) You're better off just singing at home with YouTube.

don’t go here! if i could give 0 stars i would. my friend got chucked out after just entering the building for being “too drunk” when she had only two drinks. bouncer then proceeded to refuse entry to all of my friends and refused to get his manager when we asked. then one of the bar staff came out and screamed at us telling us to go somewhere else. very unprofessional and there was no need to be so aggressive towards us. be wary when going, staff do not care and are so disrespectful to paying customers!!

Do not go if you want to get treated like utter garbage!! Boyfriend got assaulted and the bar staff treated him horribly whilst kicking him out.

I suggest you get a new bouncer who actually know when people have had a drink or not. Letting people clearly on coke in and not people who have not a drink

Usually a regular attendee of balcony, refused service and given no reason as to why at the start of a night out, staff were rude and ignorant, will not be back!

Bouncer has on more than one occasion refused my friend entry for being "drunk". Why would you refuse someone entry who has NOT caused any trouble? Very discriminatory and if I don't get a satisfactory reason from this venue, I will take this complaint further. Extremely annoyed and disheartend and I believe prejudice was involved.

My friends and I tried to get in on 11/12/23 and as soon as my friend tried to enter when she showed her ID she was immediately told she was too drunk by the rude bouncer, despite us only having had a couple of drinks - it was absolutely ridiculous as herself and I both are fully aware when she’s is too drunk and this was not the case at all, the bouncer then let in other people that seemed more drunk than us and after trying 10 minutes later still didn’t let her in. Not impressed by the respect and behaviour of the bouncer on duty as double standards seemed apparent.

Went to the toilets together with a friend on our night out, came out, being yelled at and accused of doing drugs by a very aggressive bouncer. She pointed to a piece of paper on the toilet door, which said in *very* small writing, you will be assumed to be doing drugs, if more than one person’s in the cubicle. We apologised saying we didn’t see it, she rolled her eyes yelling ‘aye right’. If you’re not wanting girls to go to the bathroom together, a very normal thing, put it in bigger/clearer writing. Most people aren’t spending their Saturday night, reading random bits of paper on doors, especially when they need to use the bathroom. No need to yell at someone because you’re on a power trip. (Had no issues with any other staff, who were all friendly, just this bouncer.)

A fab bar if you are looking for a place that is not a nightclub but still open until 3am. Good atmosphere, reasonable prices. Had a great time with my family!

I got kicked out, despite following the very strict rules the bouncer laid out, then i got told i was being very rude for trying to get back in. Wouldn’t let me back in for my jacket, so made me walk home in the pouring rain without a jacket at 2am on a saturday. Bouncer also kicked my friends out as well for trying to defend and went on to punch my friend in the back multiple times trying to push her out into the rain, when all she wanted was shelter and now she has bruises?? Such a sorry excuse for a pub, especially the new staff

This place is honestly the most awful, disgusting place ever. Came here on Saturday night and was apparently too drunk so I got chucked out even though I had two drinks before entering and was completely sober 🤣 not to mention the bar staff and bouncers are absolutely vile and abusive, the place needs shut down ASAP. This place is a sorry excuse for a pub! Went in with a friend for 30 mins and payed the 8 pound entry fee. We ordered one drink and went to the toilet together as most girls do. We were then told to leave because apparently we were doing drugs? We tried to explain that we were just using the toilet to which we were told we used the toilet 3 times before which is extremely creepy how we were being monitored! I was using the toilet more often because I was drinking which is not unusual. We asked for money back for the entry fee and we’re told “we had been there for ages” 30 minutes?! Disgusting abuse of power from bouncers, will not be back!

Lovely place, definitely would decide against the “bouncer” who is 60-70 year old female who asked me the same question three times with the same answer every time then I got told I’m being “overly- aggressive”. I’m chef that’s worked 13 hours and come out for a drink to be unlocked in this? Absolutely childish.

Door person was awful, refused service as we were "too drunk" we had 2 drinks each before arriving. Absolutely no need, we were just there for a good time and to sing some karaoke. Get a life.

Absloute hell on Earth i witnessed the female bouncer serving bags of white powder from the door my feet stuck to the floor when i walked to the bar for my tonic water young girls complaining of being spiked usherd out of the rear door countless assaults i can only compare the evening to my time in IRAQ made my ptsd 10% worse

I can't lie it's not for everyone 😂 but the karaoke at night is great night out. Staff are always so great and prices are fantastic.

One star because zero is not an option. Unreasonable door policy. "Owner" seems to act arbitrarily. Rumours are the place is used for money-laundering.

The most amazing place on the planet

My husband and I had a night in Dundee. We found this wee place. We really enjoyed it. Karaoke was good. Drinks were cheap. What we liked was people that were too drunk were dealt with straight away and asked to leave. It felt safe. Staff were very friendly. Only downside was the toilets weren’t great. It would have been 5 stars if it wasn’t for that.

This place was disrespectfully to me and my Friends wouldn’t serve us with valid ID was saying they would phone police wouldn’t let me in because aprently was giving them cheek even tho I didn’t say anything to them wouldn’t go here

Extremely hit or miss. If you are with a big group and want a place to get some good drinks and sing your lungs out at karaoke, it's pretty good. The staff particularly are 5 stars and my group never had problems with any of them despite being regulars. On the other hand, outside peak business hours it is filled with creepy old men, dirty and extremely unpleasant. Even during peak hours, the place has many problems such as rough clientele. Karaoke is also pretty meh. Not a lot of songs, bad sound system, lyrics show up on a small screen off to the side of the room and your song request might just end up getting skipped for no reason.

Well, let me set the scene for all those who are intelligent enough to read this. "Balcony Bar" is a cave that is not fit for you. We went as a university sports club and made the atmosphere bearable. We sang classics that got the people present on their feet (who doesn't love a bit of Erasure). Apparently, this was unappreciated by Mr DJ who chose to eventually skip all of our requested songs. Hard not to take that personally when he decided "Creep" by Radiohead created a better atmosphere than "December, 1963" by Frankie Valli and the four seasons. A group of around 12 of us not having any of our songs being played for around an hour was slightly suspicious. I asked the DJ why this was the case, and found out all of our songs that were requested were skipped. Slightly embarrassing for a kareoke bar, which we thought was supposed to be a bit of fun.... Apparently not, this is a very serious business. Basically, if you're not up for being offered lines in the toilet, chatted up by older men, and being judged by a middle aged DJ who (questionably) decides your music taste is sub-par on the night... This place isn't for you. The only reason that we gave this place 2 stars is because the bar staff were lovely and doing their best, the kareoke aspect of the bar, slightly amiss.

This place is a joke!!!!! We arrived, myself and another young female friend. Two weird creepy males tried to latch on to us. We were not interested in there disgusting advances. They left because we gave them no attention. Shortly afterwards the bouncers came up to me and my friend and said “you must leave because you are with those men”. We protested that we didn’t know the men and we certainly were not with these men. This woman then came up to us and was extremely rude and said “I own this pub, you should leave”. It was a complete joke! Discrimination! What a joke!!!!!!! No one should go here! Avoid! Food looks revolting too!!!!! What a horrid place!

Not the greatest of pubs, got served a Guiness in a dirty glass. Plus Bruno Mars kept getting played on repeat if you are a fan of him and having dirty glasses this is your place 👌 but if you like other music and a clean glasses recommend going to other pubs . Also my friend got charged £2.50 for just a normal small orange juice.

Bartender sipped two drinks before serving them to us, put them back on the tray and still gave them to us. Disgusting

Always hear horror stories about this place, but decided to go to see for myself. I have been here a number of times but not enough to to be a regular and honestly it is a hit or miss. Door man didn't let us in one time because be said they were too busy with only 1 staff member on? Yet could see that the upstairs and downstairs was full, so I asked why not close it then Some of the clientele are rough as anything and one of the bouncers is extremely aggressive.

Im sitting in the balcony bar just now for the first time it's a bit quiet but good music. The bar staff are very helpful and the customers are friendly, we will be returning again .

Great wee bar, management and staff were lovely ! First time out in over a year! Will visit again.
