Bakery House in Reading

We often eat middle Eastern food and the food here was as nice and as fresh as we have had anywhere. It was fresh, tasty and good value, the staff very pleasant and surroundings lovely. We will definitely return.

This restaurant used to serve good food, but in recent times the chicken shawarma wrap they sell often is not a fresh meat. Quality is being compromised.

Amazing food, love the manakeesh

I ordered mousaaka batinjan for takeaway , when I went home and opened it I could smell rotten food which is totally unacceptable. Please check your food before serving customers this very serious issue that you need to look into . I straight away threw it in the bin . Such waste of money. For this i has to wait 25 mins. Shame

Very disappointing experience... Ordered a shawarma plater... Took them around 30 mins to prepare the takeaway. Still, they forgot to add the bread. Poor management.

This is one of the top Lebanese spots in Reading, known for its delicious shawarma and grilled chicken. The service is excellent, and there’s plenty of seating available, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. it’s truly tasty and a great way to end your meal.

Walked in for a takeaway- was told it would be a 15-20 minute wait but ended up taking 35 minutes, which we were okay with as we were expecting freshly cooked piping hot food. Hummus and Moutabel were excellent however unfortunately everything else was completely cold- chicken was somehow also dry and burnt! We ordered cheesy chips- NEVER do this!!! They were not properly cooked. Falafels were tasty but lukewarm. We need to find another Lebanese place in Reading.

Ordered via JustEat at 6.30pm with a latest ETA of 7.15pm. By 8.20pm the tracker said the food was still being prepped by the restaurant so I rang only to be told they had no JustEat deliveries and that (apparently) the driver left with the order over 30 mins ago. Said they would remake and resend the order but clearly just said this to fob me off as nothing ever arrived.. disappointed

Was very hungry after fasting so food would usually taste better… However chicken shawarma had a slight off taste to it But the lamb cubes were nice No salt and pepper on the table Friend got given a dirty spoon Asked for tap water and got given a jug with no cups Had to remind a few times for them to give us sauces I probably wouldn’t come back, except maybe for the lamb

I was surprised how good the quality of the meat was for such a small price. The food was cooked to perfection, soft, tender & juicy meat with good portion sizes too. I was especially impressed with the flavour of the meat marinade that they had developed in-house and the tasty range of accompanying sauces with the dishes. Dipping the chips in the mint & garlic sauce was a winner for me & the Lebanese beer they service was a pleasant & refreshing change too. I would also recommend trying the humous & chilli. Would definitely go again.

I have tried their chicken shawarma platter and it was all bland the chicken was rock hard sauces were not exactly Middle Eastern sort of taste have spent £13 there and all wasted will not recommend this place for takeaway food staff member was a bit rigid and not in good mood including manager. Really not happy with the money I spent there. It is not an authentic labenese shawarma in taste and look.

Delicious authentic food, highly recommend! The food here is absolutely fantastic, well priced (which means you can try lots of the dishes!) and the service was totally lovely 🧡 I've had takeaway from here and eaten in, the quality is always outstanding. This is a hidden gem of a place.

The worst lamb shawarma I've ever had, for £7.49 it was a tiny amount of very small pieces of flavourless cold lamb, mixed with extra lots of salad and also toum sauce and chilli sauce had no flavour either, these people need to learn from Shawarma Reading on west street how to make good shawarma.

Great Lebanese restaurant and takeaway with very tasty dishes. Very well made. Chef is great. Unfortunately they are not very helpful if you want to pre-order by phone to collect.

Good cake and coffee, but the store is a bit narrow, so waiting patiently to see the choice of cakes and cookies will be rewarded.

Update: I have been ordering from here regularly and I have to say for the few months I've lived in this town it has been by far my favourite restaurant, the staff are lovely and the food is consistently good! I went in here with my partner as I've walked past this place every day since moving to reading and it makes London street smell incredible, when we went in we were incredibly impressed with the homemade mint lemonade and homemade ayran for our drinks and the lamb kofta shish and arayes for our meals, everything is fresh, good value and really well spiced throughout, this is a place definitely worth a regular visit are there are many options to try!

I've ordered from here a fair few times, but went in to sit down for the first time. The food was so, so good. My company had never been here before but absolutely LOVED the food and they're gonna come back with family. The service was top notch too, friendly and so attentive. I would HIGHLY recommend coming here or ordering online.

I ordered 2 chicken shawarma through Uber eats and clearly wrote in the notes no sauce (allergy reasons) and lo behold both shawarma are fully loaded with garlic sauce and the chicken was hard as a rock. Unfortunately Uber eats don’t have the same customer service as Deliveroo so I was unable to get a replacement and absolutely no point contacting the take away so that’s my story. Stay away if you want to preserve your health as some takeaways don’t appreciate allergies

No recomiendo obtener los platos de entrada a menos que te gusten todos de lo contrario es mejor obtener comidas individuales y entrantes (para nosotros todavía terminó como menos de £ 20 cada uno). El personal es muy amable y sin duda volvería aquí de nuevo!

Absolutely love eating here. It’s been a favourite for a long time. Service is great, place is always clean and the food is sensational. The mixed shawarma plate is my go to however I have tried a few of the other dishes and none of them disappoint. It’s a must visit if you are looking for the best selection of Lebanese and Arabic cuisine. 10/10

This has been our go to place to Shawarmas. However, we were quite disappointed upon our last visit when we noticed the guy making our shawarmas wasn't wearing any food safe, disposable gloves. He was using his hands mostly, and also rubbing his hands from his shirt. With the same hand he then wrapped our shawarma and placed it in the grill. This has been such a turn off! They really need to work on hygiene

I ordered a chicken shawarma platter, I paid £12.99. The chicken was MICROWAVED. It was DRY, BLAND and was most definetly THE WORST CHICKEN DONOR OR SHAWARMA that I've ever tried and tasted. There was also undercooked bits of chicken in there as well. Complete lack of care and passion in the food they are selling. Absolute disappointment and disgrace. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. There a Tescos just 20 seconds up the road from bakery house, if you're hungry just go there and save your money.

This place has changed and not for the better. We’ve had loads of food here but today the food was overcooked, the recipes inconsistent, food spilt all over delivery bag bad bread rock hard. It’s like they don’t care about customers.

Acabo de tener un gran almuerzo en la casa de panadería mezze plato - fresco y sabroso, gran falafel, la estrella del sho era el estofado de berenjenas con tomates que era sublime. También nos encantó el arroz de cordero con grandes trozos de cordero de sabor tierno, y los panes frescos (demasiados no podían dejar de comerlos) estábamos muy llenos, solo que lo malo es que no queda espacio para la baklava, tener que hacerlo la próxima vez. La comida era excelente, muy recomendable para un buen almuerzo.

Very friendly, polite and respectful staff serving good value, well-executed food. Finally found gluten-free falafel and they were just as I like them; crunchy crispy crust with creamy, savoury interior served with tahini sauce, pickled turnip & chillies to keep things interesting. The grilled boneless baby chicken with salad and chips or rice was huge, moist, citrusy and beautifully charred. Sides of garlic and chilli sauces to dip the wonderful chicken. A true value at £13.99! Place is definitely on the repeat list…

Don’t waste your money. Sainsbury Hummus is better than Bakery house. We ordered Hummus and Mix Shawarma. Hummus was too salty, Lamb shawarma half cooked and Chicken shawarma was ok ok

Food and service was good. But for the price the portion were a bit small.

Not too impressed, have had two dinners here, and a few odd shawarmas for the odd lunch, which have been very nice. Main meals wise, you just don't get your moneys worth. Today I treated my wife to lunch, ordered online, spent around £50. Got two mains, a few hot and cold starters and dessert. All looked good at this point. After it arrived, it was very noticeable on how less food was there, despite spending such a large amount of money. Taste wise, everything was pretty bland except for the chicken shawarma platter, and an aubergine dish. Quite disappointing, wish i had spent the money elsewhere.
