I've gone to a lot of cafes in my time round hull, but I've never known any where to have such miserable staff, they all need a face transplant. The three younger ones are terrible never seen them smile once. Don't ask for anything different or you will get a dirty look and a grunt. Reminds me of a popular deli on holderness rd which had the same problem and now that place has closed down. Good look bakers hope you all get on well with your boss, cos you would be all on the dole if you worked for me.

I come here most mornings on my way to work, often for lunch too. Lots of ladies working on orders (they get a lot of office brunch orders I think) - they cook things from scratch in front of you. I love the maids of honour - in fact most of their sponge type cakes are lovely and way better than the cakes I have had from Fudge and the Olive Tree on the other side of town. They have a good drinks selection and do healthier stuff like yoghurt, fruit and granola if you don't fancy a bacon sarnie. Never had a bad item yet - staff are nice too. Try out their homemade sausage rolls - many varieties, sausage n beans, sausage with stuffing and apple or cranberry - all better than Greggs.

Stopped for a breakfast sandwich -these were excellent. It is just a pity that in our opinion the coffee we got did not suit our pallet and we ended up leaving this. Will stick to tea next time!

Nice sandwiches and good prices - so its busy! Only issue was this morning there were seven folk queueing to the front door and the ladies were busy (I assume making up phone orders etc.) At one point 7 were making up orders and just one was serving and making up the footfall orders. Yes eventually another person came to assist BUT then they were using one till so it all became somewhat muddled... perhaps they could utilise staff better??

Had a meal on 28th March at Double Tree Hull. The restaurant only had 6 tabIes in use. I had Calamari for a starter, the batter was light and soggy. We asked for a gap between started and main as we could see other tables being brought out quickly. my partner had the lamb shank and I had the salmon escolope. There was little time between the starter and main and the waiter apologised and said the chef wanted it out. The lamb was cold and the salmon was dried on the side, indicating it has been under the lamps a while. Not a food experience for a cost of £159 for 2. Not going back anytime soon.
