This is a great place to visit for brunch. The French toast was incredible. It is quite a small place so make sure to book at busier times, i.e. Friday’s and weekends. I wish this place was closer to home so we could visit more often.

Had heard good things about this place, so gave it a long overdue visit, after a long walk on a very pleasant spring day. It's a nice enough place, and the staff are all very friendly, but found it very overpriced in relation to the portions we received. The food we had was delicious and beautifully presented, but expected much more for the money we paid. We paid £25 for a coffee, a can of lemonade, a slice of cheesecake and a chicken & pesto open sandwich. This included a 10% service charge, which in fairness is stated on the menu. As I say, the food was delicious, but we won't return, due to the prices 😕

The food was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal – definitely a 10/10. However, the payment process was disappointing. We were directed to pay at the till, which was fine, but we weren't given a receipt. The staff member read out our order, and we assumed it was correct. When we later requested a receipt, we discovered an added service charge that we were not informed about. It felt quite underhanded not to provide a physical receipt and to omit mentioning the service charge.

The array of bread and pastries are great, with huge variety of both sweet and savoury options to have in or take away. Following suit, the menu is HUGE, especially for brunch, with lots of creative and unique options that you wouldn’t find elsewhere, mostly spins on brunch classics. We had the brisket benny, which was pretty nice. Pulled brisket and hollandaise sauce, with poached eggs and an English muffin. It was good, but didn’t quite live up to our excitement when we read it on the menu, falling a little flat. That being said, it was tasty and we will sure be back to try some other stuff as it all looked fab. I had a plain Crossiant, which unfortunately was verging on stale. Good flavour, but it was very hard and really wasn’t even close to my dreams of a flakey and light pastry. Oh well. The teas we had were very tasty, and the vibes in the place are pretty cool. There’s many rooms to choose from, so it does feel cosy and atmospheric. The staff were also nice, being pretty attentive and got the job done.

Had a table for 6 including a one year old. We were sat downstairs between counter and kitchen. Terrible service with long wait for drinks and food. Absolutely freezing with front door custom and side door deliveries. You could see condensation from our breath when talking. We asked about heating but totally ignored. Food arrived and no surprise that some dishes hot some cold. Service all over the place and over priced for what was a terrible experience. Will not return. Poor service at premium prices in a freezing environment. The Manager was wearing a woolly hat and we understand why now. We should have been offered seating upstairs in the circumstances and regret not walking out.

I live close to this cafe and have been in three times now, once when it first opened and twice over the Christmas break, had a full English breakfast twice over Xmas holiday and both times the food was amazing, good value for money considering the other local options for the same food, some might say it’s pricey but in life you only get what you pay for, and good food is not cheap anymore.

I paid £10.15 for a sausage and egg sandwich with a can of cola, and it was far from worth it. The bread was dry and seemed several days old, with a disappointingly small slice. The sausage was a struggle to eat, as the skins were practically inedible. While the egg and ketchup were decent, they couldn’t save the meal. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

I drive past this place every day and always wanted to try as coming from Cornwall I love a good bakery, so today i stoped by for breakfast. I ordered the salmon bagel £10.80 a coffee £2.50 and a donut £4.00 to take away. The coffee was excellent but the food was shocking for the price, I presume the bagels are cooked fresh in house as it’s a bakery and they were flat and heavy, the tiny amount of salmon in there was nice but completely over powered by the amount of pea shoots and cream cheese and for £10.80 with no side salad, crisps, or anything is just robbery. The donut was also dense and the filling was lacking any flavour. For £17.50 I leave feeling robbed. The staff were nice, smiley and helpful so can’t fault the service but the value for money on the food is shocking.

Awful experience, food took over 40 mins to come and we almost walked out. Lipstick marks on coffee cup which partner didn’t notice as he was drinking on the other side, pork and stuffing sandwich had barely any meat in there, and then to top it off the card machine wasn’t working and the server acted like it was our fault the card machine wasn’t working when we tried chip and pin and tapping for contactless. Every now and then you get blown away by just how great a place is and this was one of those experiences. We only popped in for a coffee but ended up having breakfast, coffee and the most wonderful cake afterwards. If I owned a food place and go here and learn how to do it. From the really genuine and lovely staff to the highest quality food … these guys can show the vast majority how to do it. It’s a beautiful quirky place and the last time I visited the premises was to buy some nails from Adams the ironmonger ( young people translation … it’s like an old fashioned B&Q!!) anyhow, the coffee is superb, the cakes off the scale and the breakfast just the best I’ve had in ages. Oh yes and by the way, the loaf of bread we bought is superb. We are so glad we’ve discovered this and won’t be bothering with other second rate eateries anymore. If I say anymore it’ll appear I’m linked to the business which I can categorically say I’m not!! If there was one tiny criticism I think I’d get a brighter bulb for the loo but that’s all I could fault. Thanks for a great experience.

The food is tasty, but... Despite the large brunch menu, there is only 1 vegan option! It is a lovely option, but it would be nice to have more options on the menu, even if it was just combinations of the items in the vegan breakfast (just beans on toast, just falafel and salad, etc). The music was loud and didn't feel appropriate for the atmosphere. We were eating brunch at 1pm on a Sunday, and at points they were playing house music, and I couldn't hear my partner from across the table! Also, service was a bit slow and it was difficult to get hold of someone when we wanted to.

I didn’t find it particularly welcoming for young families but that was more to do with it being quite an intimate setting, I felt ‘in the way’ with a pushchair and on the last visit some of the clientele looked appalled at the prospect of a toddler present - even though she was pretty good I guess the noise travels and it just didn’t give off a young family vibe.

Was directed to a tin on the table. This contained 1 serviette and very little cutlery. Used a dinner fork. Checked receipt at home and saw a 10% service charge was added. We ordered at the counter and it was delivered two steps away from it. This was not mentioned. What was it for? If tips ,that should be customers desision.I would not have given one as the "service" was surly and the Server was more interested in sitting behind us to eat. To add insult to injury a baguette we bought over the counter was also subject to this hidden charge. It was hard and dry. I literally left the cafe an hour ago with two donuts and a pear tart in tow. I'd parked at Duke Street thinking I only had an hour and was shocked after I got my cakes to see it's two hours! Unless I'm in a parallel universe I think they've extended the parking time allowed which makes the prospect of eating in so much easier. I'd read the reviews and they are very mixed. I'd been here once before ages ago and couldn't remember what I thought so I was curious to try again. It did not disappoint! The atmosphere is ultra cool, staff are pleasant, hipster and chilled, reminded me of walking into a cafe in Muswell Hill or Notting Hill. Loved it and if I'd realised there was longer free parking I'd have stayed in. I had a strawberry donut and a vanilla one. (Can't be bothered with the UK spelling.) These were beautiful! Real bloomin donuts, none of this baked rubbish which is heavy like concrete. These donuts which were generously sized, were light and fluffy with a beautiful caramelised bite to them. The strawberry one was full to the brim of jam (As I write I want it all over again!) The vanilla one was full of a lovely vanilla custard and the pear tart was great. No soggy bottoms here. Pastry with a perfect bite and beautiful fresh pears on the top. I'll admit, I can't relate to the negative reviews one tiny teeny bit. What I do know, is that they're meant to be opening one in Wylde Green which is just around the corner from me, and I know that I'm going to have to practice willpower of steel if these cakes were anything to go by! The star of the show for me? Oh, that strawberry donut!! Oh and at £11.50 for three great quality cakes, the price is of value. A success I'd say. Can't attach photos as I'd inhaled them before I could think. Sorry!

£10.15 for a can of cola and a sausage and egg sandwich. Bread very dry, few days old, small slice. Sausage skins are impossible to bite Nice egg and ketchup. Wouldn't recommend to anyone

£16 for a can of coke a vienese whirl and a sausage bacon and egg sandwich which took more chewing then a wham bar, the bread was like chewing on a 20yr old doc Martin boot the bacon looked like it was cooked on a radiator and the sausage meat was packed into what can only be described as a polypipe.

What a wonderful restaurant! The food is exceptional, the service first class and the prices are reasonable. We ordered two croque monsieur and we were very impressed with the portions, the presentation and the taste. After noticing what other customers were eating, it is obvious that great care is taken to keep the standard of food very high. I feel I have to mention Zak who made us feel very welcome. Even though the restaurant was fairly busy, nothing was too much trouble for him and everything was done with a smile. He’s an excellent ‘ambassador’ for The Bakehouse.

We had a lovely brunch at the bakehouse. The food and coffee were delicious. I had the whipped feta on sourdough with confit tomatoes, poached egg, avocado and hollandaise sauce and it was so good. My partner had the baked eggs with goats cheese and she thoroughly enjoyed it also. The cakes on the way in look to die for, we bought some of their sourdough bread to take home and its one of the best we've ever had. It's our new local so we will definitely be returning soon!

Went for brunch ona Monday, we agce been to Baked in Brick in Digbeth before for Pizza and had a great experi nce. This place does not disappoint, the brunch was amazing, one of the best I've had I a while. Wasn't traditionally an "English breakfast", I had the Bakehouse Brekki. The tomatoes were delicious and the sourdough toast was amazing too. Not too pricey ( or at least I understand what I'm getting unlike the previous review - it's not a pretentious place at all!) A unique place for Sutton, cannot think of a similar local brunch place. My wife stalks my reviews - hi and love you wife X
