Bakehouse in South Hams

Tradition bakery in Salcombe, good selection of breads - except no wholemeal - VERY odd these days! They claim bread is homemade, not so sure (its very regular). I found better bread in the Coop 20 mins walk away. Extra large cheese straws and many cakes are excellent, very good value. 1st visit - grumpy shop assistant. Other times - very pleasant helpers.

Without doubt the best pasty I have ever eaten.....brilliant.I live in Brixham and tasted so many different makes and this one beats them all by a mile.

Called in for 2 steak bake pasties. Fast and efficient service despite being busy. Got to be the best pasties we've ever had! So enjoyable as nice and hot ,lots of filling and delicious flaky pastry. Sat in the nearby park to eat them. Good choice to buy from there. Would highly recommend.

The pasties here are the best I've ever tasted. I'm not usually a pasty fan but saw a family chobbling down on some saying they were the best they'd had, they wernt wrong! Awesome!

What has happened to Salcombe Bakehouse? One of our regular treats on the weekend would be a visit to our local farm shop to buy a fresh, gorgeous loaf from Salcombe Bakehouse. Some time ago, overnight, Bakehouse stopped supplying all external shops. Over the past few months we have purchased bread from the Bakehouse in Kingsbridge and in Salcombe and will not be buying any longer. What used to be a wondrous, tasty, squidgy bread with a crisp top is now hard on the outside which basically makes it taste and feel stale. The same is true for other products such as the iced finger. I've now given up purchasing any products from the Bakehouse because over several months of trying we found the bread products were stale. What a pity? What happened?

I was very hungry after a long drive to Dartmouth. Found this little gem just on the key. Great pasty full of steak and vegetables. A little expensive but that's what you have to pay if you want decent ingredients and flavor.

THIS RATING IS FOR THE SALCOMBE BRANCH. Cheese straws are really good and unique with delicious spices in. jam donuts on the other hand had raw dough inside. Very disappointed as we've previously had great experiences here.

Lovely food. Great Doughnuts and lots of choice of cakes and sandwiches. If you are in a hurry looking for a cheap great meal, this is a must go. Just a heads up they only take card so be careful. Overall a cheap, lovely, friendly bakery in the middle of a popular area .

£4.75 for steak pasty’s which was not bad considering the amount of meat filling. But for me it tasted bland. We did enjoy bread from the bakery though, highly recommend bread sticks

I always call day before, order my bread and rolls for the month, for my freezer. The granary and white loaves and rolls are amazing. As for the card only I love it.no chance of any germs crossing the counter. Swipe your card grab your purchases and off you go. All the staff are friendly, and helpful.iv been shopping here for years now no complaints from me 🙂

Honestly the best sandwiches I have tasted! Good selection of cakes and pastries. We had a brownie too which was delicious. Would 100% go there again. Quick and friendly service too!

Just called to buy lunch and pay cash. Was told card only..... I asked why and some excuse about banking. Shocking that the Kings legal tender was not worthy. Walked out...

Best bakery in Dartmouth, we tried a few pasties around the local town but this was by far the best!

Very rude young lady behind counter. Polite to the point of rudeness. Smirking. A regular customer. I have been in many times.but try and avoid when this young lady is on till. I appreciate there is a sign on window ( been there 1.5 weeks) stating cards only re payment. Didnt have card with me and only wanted a2 pound french loaf and offered a 5 pound note. Explained that I didnt have my credit card with me and that the other staff accept cash payment. Young lady adamant that she was not going to accept my money. Stated she had no change and all banks had closed. ( there are still outlets in town where you can get change) I explained that a 5 pound note was still legal tender. But she wasnt having any of it and replies " it's not my fault) Walked out and went to Saveurs and purchased a French stick with cash. Bake house Dartmouth/ Salcombe have lost another local customer. Where has common sense gone. Not first time young girl has been rude. Perhaps you should send this young lady on a customer relations course.
