If you’re hoping to enjoy a leisurely meal with friends, this place may leave you disappointed. Upon arrival, we were informed that there was a time limit on our dining—a policy that wasn’t mentioned when we booked the table. It left us with the impression that we might not be the most welcome guests here. The unexpected time restriction made it difficult to relax and fully enjoy our time, creating an atmosphere that felt more rushed than inviting.

The most decent Korean BBQ I had so far. Nice meat selection. The soups are really nice, they were sweet and real good to eat with rice! I will visit again for sure. Highly recommend

OBSESSED WITH THIS PLACE! Already dreaming about coming back, mackerel was the STAR of the show! Ox tongue was fabulous and everything was insanely good, even the lettuce! Such pretty perfect lettuce leaves and then to end the SOUP OF ALL SOUPS🥬

The portions are small, and the food is overpriced. The service was disappointing, with some dishes being overcooked on the outside and undercooked inside. Overall, the experience was quite a letdown.

It's been 3 days since I came here, but I visited on the 2nd. If you want Korean food, please definitely come. If you come to Manchester, the prices are not cheap.

Prices are more expensive than any other Korean restaurants I have been to, service is so poor, and waitress didn't care about us at all plus couldn't explain anything about the menu. My 2 star goes to the food which was okey but nothing else was really satisfying..

We had a lovely meal here and the korean bbq was delicious as were the other dishes we ordered. I will say the prices are a bit outrageous, £4 for lettuce is daylight robbery (this side is usually free in Korea). There was also a bit of pressure to order extra food that we didn't need.. it felt like they were taking advantage of the fact people don't know the dishes well. I knew it would be too much food but she kept pushing me to order more.

Had the best fun as it was our first time trying anything like this.. the staff are so friendly and helpful it really is a joy to eat here. The food..WOW. AMAZING.. fantastic choice, and with some recommendations from staff ( who helped us cook it ) we enjoyed a great dining experience in a relaxed, chilled out place.. 5 stars are not enough.. wish I didn't live in Scotland.. will definitely be back on my next trip

The prices are a bit expensive, and the food portions of BBQ are a bit small. Typically, the complimentary side dishes that are usually provided for free in Korean restaurants would likely all be charged for separately here, such as the lettuce, garlic, and appetizers served with the grilled dishes.

The restaurant's décor is simple, but due to the barbecue, it is filled with smoke. The Korean barbecue was very tasty, and it was a pleasant surprise that the staff did the grilling for us, as in Hong Kong, it is usually done by the customers. This added points to their service in my book. The staff were polite and diligent, and the service was indeed excellent. The food was delicious; I ordered Korean BBQ, Korean pancakes, stone pot rice, and Korean fried chicken. Unlike the large portions typically found in Western restaurants, the portions here were somewhat smaller, but this is typical of Korean restaurants in Hong Kong, so I found the portion sizes to be just right.

The marinated meat is bbq'd on a fire pit on your table and cooked to perfection and was very tasty. It was my first time in a Korean restaurant and would recommend Baekdu to anyone.

This is a small, cute little restaurant in Stockport. I am new to Korean food but the staff took pity on me and explained how it all worked. We had beef/pork table BBQ (literally a charcoal BBQ in the middle of the table where you cook your own meat), rice, lettuce/salad, kimchi pancakes and ganpung-gi. It was all delicious but the ganpung-gi in particular was absolutely divine. Staff were friendly and helpful (sorted us a doggy bag for our left overs). I 100% recommend this restaurant. Will definitely revisit.

We went as it was my son's birthday and he wanted to go to a Korean BBQ. We'd been to another Korean BBQ in London and really enjoyed it so we thought we'd give this a go. They were really accommodating when we rang and said they're fit us in. When we got there, we were seated almost immediately and it drinks order was taken. However it took AGES to take our food order! We must have waited about 20 minutes, after asked to give our order about 4 times. I found it really strange that only the elder lady, who I can only assume was the other, was allowed to take the food orders. We did eventually get out order taken, we went for the BBQ. The food was good but the portions were abysmal! You get stuck a small amount for the price it's unbelievable. Each portion of meat cost in the region of £17 but when it came out, there was barely anything there. To top it off, we ordered some salad to go with the BBQ, we weren't expecting much but we're very disappointed all the same. The salad cost £4.50 per person, for that you get a grand total of 5 x lettuce (hothouse lettuce) leaves and a tiny bowl pickled veg. We spent a total of £130 for a meal for 4 of us and came out feeling like I could go to the Macdonald's to fill myself up.... NOT GOOD! It's a shame as the food tasted good but it was so expensive for what you get that the value for money rating was in the minus figures. We paid less that that for our meal in the centre of London and we came out feeling full. I won't be going there again, but that's not to say anyone else shouldn't. Just expect to pay through your nose for it, and probably have to go somewhere after to to yourself up.

Very authentic food and atmosphere. Our food didn’t come in the order we expected it to be served, be we went with the flow. It was a new experience. Only chopsticks and a spoon, which we are both fine with. There is limited wine option, 5 types includes red, white and a rosè. The cheapest being £39.50 As the restaurant is quite small and gets very busy, making a reservation will be good idea. The staff were very helpful and polite. We will definitely go again.

Cosy restaurant with a very traditional classic Korean feel, lots of atmosphere and appeal with real charcoal BBQ and traditional dishes. Do be aware it's not exactly cheap fare here, it would be best to go in a slightly larger group if possible to be able to try a bit more different things without breaking the bank. And definitely be able eat a little spice heat like kimchi and korean red pepper to be able to try all the meats The taste of food was great but servings could be a little bigger like lettuce and indeed the meat portion sizes varied a lot too . Staff were great and friendly and helpful.

Food was Nice but overpriced £32 pounds for 8 portions of little gem lettuce!! Wine was overpriced and limited. Vegetation option was awful and overpriced. Would not return

Don't knock the sweet potato mochi! It's soo good 😋 great experience and attention to cooking the BBQ right for you, my partner is a chef, tried to meddle/help them explain he's a chef and I couldn't stop laughing when he got told off and his hand mildly slapped away the very first time we came. ❤️ I'm glad they were affirmative enough to help him switch off and relax

This is my third time at a Baekdu and the quality of the food has never been diminished. I always visit here when I go up to Manchester and it simply is my favourite Korean BBQ restaurant, thank you to the lady owner and the team for always looking after us.

Superb BBQ, great pan fried dumplings and friendly service. My family are regulars here, and the food never disappoints. On our latest visit, we were the only non-East Asian customers, which indicates the quality of food. The decor is rather tired, but that’s the only negative about this great little gem in Stockport.

This place is definitely a hidden gem. The food was out of this world and I have to say was probably the best restaurant food I’ve tasted in a very long time. I would give it 5 starts if it wasn’t for the price. The prices for food are slightly overpriced. The drinks are way too expensive. But the quality of the food is by far the restaurants selling point. Would definitely go again. Just maybe take my own drinks.

When we ordered our food and we were then told that we MUST additionally order two items of barbeque as part of our meal. When we told our server that we did not wish to have the recommended barbeque items but instead we wanted a range of other hot items from their menu (equivalent total of £60+ pounds plus drinks), they became quite rude and insisted that this was their "rule" for all customers. There was no information on this on the menu. The signage in the restaurant implies that BBQ requires a minimum order of two dishes, but does not make clear that customers must order BBQ on every visit. I have never been to a restaurant where I was told I must order food a certain way, not been so insulted by the server. We paid for our drinks and left.

Ridiculously overpriced. Just me, my wife and our two kids and we received a bill of £168. £9.80 for a glass of iced tea? Just insane. More so, the food wasn’t even that good, ambience was abysmal, boring decor and all round meh. I just don’t understand how a small local uninspired restaurant can charge Michelin-star prices. They’re more expensive than Hawksmoor and Miller & Carter. Just ridiculous. Definitely won’t return.

Gorgeous authentic Korean food! The thin sliced beef on the BBQ is amazing 😍 the staff cooks the food for you here. Atmosphere is nice and relaxed. You must book in advance. My only complaint is that it was absolutely freezing in there!

Very authentic Korean foods in town. That used to be in City Centre of Manchester, used to be cheaper price when you do not need to order two set of bbq meats. Now you will need to order two meats so the prices very high. Also if the staff can have little bit more of smiles would be better. But the foods still amazing. Highly recommend if you looking for real Korean food.

Good food. Simple restaurant. I'd go again. Don't bring vegetarian friends with you.

Absolutely love Baekdu! I can't come as often I'd like as it's a little bit on the pricier side but when I am wanting to celebrate then I'll always think of Baekdu for those occasions. My favourite dishes are the mackerel, pickled wild garlic and the seafood pancake. Everything is delicious though and is such a gem in Stockport. Used to visit when they were in the city centre many years ago and it's nice to support a business that's still serving tasty Korean food!

PRICEY experience with rationed portions. Firstly, we had to wait about half an hour after sitting down to have our food order taken, as the “manager” lady was late and only she’s allowed to take food orders which we found very strange. The food was tasty but nothing special and way overpriced. We don’t mind paying premium price for great food, but £4.5 for 5 leaves of lettuce is not justifiable. As someone else said, you need to spend at least £60 per head (food only no drinks) and to leave feeling fed. We spent £40 per head and ended up going to Reggae Spot for extra food that we enjoyed much more (at a fraction of the price). Nice experience but we won’t be back.

The food was fantastic, and had a decent selection of soju. Not our first bbq, but we asked for some recommended dishes and went ahead with those. The menu was a little limited for bbq options, but the quality was superb, and the recommendations outside of bbq options were superb. We weren't asked if we needed help, but we were helped regardless (might be a newcomer thing), and the staff were very attentive, friendly, and helpful. Will definitely be back!

The food here was delicious. It was one of the first Korean BBQ places where I didn't get to cook my own food. Waitresses did it for me instead, which was nice... Except for that fact that they stood over me and blocked my food, so I wasn't able to eat my food until she moved. So my food was cool by the time I could eat it. Addictionally I didn't appreciate that she was mixing the raw chicken with the cooked beef and pork and I had to ask her to move the raw chicken and to recook the pork. Would have been nice if the waitresses were more welcoming and smiled too.

Excellent quality food. Lovely service. Fun night out. They stick hot coals in the middle of the table then BBQ the meat for you right there. Good prices. Will definitely go back as I really enjoyed it. They don't fill you up on bread like other restaurants do. I found that you do need to order a few dishes to have a full meal but that way you get to try a bunch of different things. It does get a bit hot in there generally but they have extractors above each coal pit to extract the smoke, so you don't come away smelling like a BBQ.

Excellent! We've been to a few Korean restaurants in the Manchester area and this is by far our favourite! Great food, extremely friendly and helpful staff and lovely venue and atmosphere. We will most certainly be back!

Lovely Korean BBQ. The bbq was ok, the sides were really the highlight of the experience for us.

Had heard good things about Baekdu so I decided to try it for myself while I was in Stockport. We didn't book a table but we arrived as they opened and it wasn't very busy so getting a table for 2 was easy. We were surprised to see that you could only dine in if you ordered BBQ which we were going to anyway, but seemed a shame that they have that limitation. We would have liked to try other dishes on the menu but because you have to get enough BBQ for 2 people we thought that would be too much food. The BBQ itself was delicious, we ordered a mix of beef, chicken and pork as well as the mixed salad and seafood pancake. It's also the first KBBQ restaurant I've been to where the servers will cook everything for you, though you can tell them you'd like to do it yourself. Would probably come back but with a larger group so we can try more dishes!

Authentic Korean experience. The meat is fresh and all the food is so tasty. I like the cold noodle the best.

1st timers. Ordered starters ( they weren't cheap) they came after the main. I realise that they had to cook at the table but, they're starters for a reason. My opinion, overpriced for what you get. Don't do wine by the glass and didn't have the bottle we wanted to order.

It took more than two hours to take the food order. Lady forced to order BBQ. That's not what we want to eat. It took another hour for food to come to the table. This tally disappointed ☹️. Do not recommend at all

Fabulous place with lovely, attentive staff. We've been twice now and each was a joy with top notch food, very varied menu and hopefully a convincing representation of Korean cuisine. For people like me who don't like Kimchee there's plenty to choose from too. Honestly a revelation.

We ordered bbq beef & pork. The pork was burnt. The owner still kept on cooking. She insisted it's ok, & said "eat it eat it...." and argued with us. Nobody apologized!

Superb Korean restaurant in the heart of Stockport x

The beef bbq (bulgogi) is full of flavour, the bbq is a wonderful set piece and the rice cake perfect. Kimchi pancakes are lovely and the bibimbap is great. Impressive soju collection. Staff are friendly. It's as much an experience as it is a meal with the bbq in the middle of the table. The cooking is normally done for you and sides have to be ordered as extra dishes. It's a really good Korean BBQ and is just as good, if not better, than when I last came 2 years ago. Worth a trip and reserve in advance.

I frequent this unique place every couple of days as I enjoy the good air that is outline this restaurant. The crew is exceptionally attentive and professional. The service is remarkablywonderfully efficient. Most important, the food they cook is outstanding. I have been there many times and I was always joyful. The cost is reasobable. I highly recommend this place to all my friends.

Visited with my gf and another couple, and all of us lived in Korea for 3-4 years. Baekdu is easily the most authentic KBBQ place in the north (and i've been to a few) and is an absolute hidden gem. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Another 5 stars rating review. I travelled from Manchester City Centre and it took me 30 minutes to drive here. It is really worth it. There is a public car park infront of the shop and which I attached a photo of the parking fee. The quality of the food is really good. I've been to four different korean resturants in Manchester City center and I can say Baekdu is the best. For example, the meat is thicker and juicer. Also the fact it uses coal, it gives the tastes even more fiesty and wild. The waiter helped me with barbecue such as flipping the meat so it doesn't get burn and also cut it in edible pieces. Other places don't do this and so it was really kind of them. This suggests good training. I'd love to go here again. This is now my number one korean resturant in the North West.

My OH specifically wanted a Korean BBQ for our date night so we made almost 6 miles to get there. Luckily, we already booked a table as the place was full when we reached. There is some Pay & Display parking spaces just down the road and it's free after 6pm. We ordered 3 meat: Ox tongue (£8.50), Spicy marinated sliced pork (£9.90) and seasoned pork steak & rib (£9.90). Each meat came with a dipping sauce. We also ordered lettuce & spring onion salad (£4.50) that was recommended to go with the grilled meat; pan-fried tofu (£7.50) and a boiled rice to share. The portion of the meat and salad was reasonable for the price but I personally thought the pan-fried tofu was a bit over-priced. Nothing to fault on the flavour-wise as everything was tasty. Very friendly and attentive service from start to finish. They would grill the meat for you so it was almost like watching a performance too. What a night. Thank you!

Found this place by accident and was so glad we did. The food is cooked at the table the staff àre so friendly can not fault it. I will definatly return and highly recommend you try it yourselves. .

Amazing and different, spicy is a option but there is not many spicy dishes. Lovely staff and great atmosphere.

Such an amazing experience, I've lived in Stockport all my life and have never known this gem was hidden under my nose, the staff were polite and attentive, the food was well seasoned, and the atmosphere was breathtaking, its easy to find a place that you can enjoy at food but it's another to enjoy the experience

A real hidden gem. The beef was so well seasoned and delicious, the other meats we had were fantastic. Between 3 of us we had 5 different table BBQ dishes. We were recommended to get the salad, I was dubious as it is lettuce, however the pickled dish that comes with it was a pleasant surprise and a great compliment to the BBQ. We also ordered a lot of sides - the vermicelli was a good choice and the dumplings. I would say you may need one BBQ dish per head if you are hungry, but if you order a few and share them about it is perfect. We were just super hungry, greedy and excited to be out of lockdown! The staff are polite and helpful and who knew Korean beer was so good. I can't wait to return.

We were guided through the menu and enjoyed the BBQ at the table with lots of different side dishes, starters (not necessarily arriving as a starter) and rice. All great fun and very tasty. Stick to the Korean beer and the Soju drinks are very sweet. Also, very Covid secure with your temperature taken on arrival and tables well spaced out.

The place I miss the most since moving from the area! Amazing food!!

The food was really tasty and different service good and helpful though the restaurant was pretty quiet for a friday night. The price for salad ti accompany the barbecue was fairly steep and the offer if a refill ambiguous as it was charged.

Very good generally. Tables have BBQs in the centre and the meat is prepared at your table if you opt for the BBQ, which is encouraged. It’s good but I find the few minutes it takes to cool a bit awkward with the with the staff member at the table. They are very friendly I’m just antisocial. Kimchi pancakes was great as was most of the food.
