Fantastic Whisky selection for a small shop. You cannot do better in Cambridge for wine, spirits, and beer. Also sell beer growler refills, bourbons, rums, gins, wines and more.

Good range of wine, beer and spirits, however not worth dealing with the rude staff. Prepare for the snarky comments if you dare to leave without buying anything.

After walking 15 mins on the hottest day of the year so far, I was greeted by a rather disinterested man, who rather than assist me, just waved his arm in a general direction of the wine I was after. ( I was the only customer in the shop) He then informed me that sadly it was cash only... and when I said oh no, he rudely said "well there is a sign on the door" I then had to ask where the nearest cash point. I then said I was going to get cash and promptly left. Considering most of the wine in the shop was an £30 plus, who carries that amount of cash on them these days. I ended up getting 2 bottles of wine from the local sainsburys for half the price. Don't get me wrong I appreciate a very good wine but considering I was after a sussex wine of which I should of got in sussex (as I live there) I refuse to pay almost £10 more especially when the man provided snobby and rude service.

Best shop on Mill Road. My partner and I love Belgian beers and they stock our favourite, Delirium tremens. Super happy that they also have La Chouffe and Lindemann's Kriek lambic! Absolutely great beer and wine selection, such a nice little shop where you can find unusual things. The shop assistants (shout-out to Liam) are knowledgeable and friendly and up for a chat. The only thing that'd improve this shop is more Lindemann's and Chouffe varieties and maybe some Gentse tripel!

The guy behind the till was listening to a podcast out loud which at one point was going on about how great it is not to drink? Fine if they don't personally drink but slightly bizarre for a wine shop. If you have to listen to a podcast maybe use headphones if you're working in a shop but even then it's a little off-putting Always seem a bit unfriendly or maybe just absorbed when I go in.

A small, lovely independent wine merchant. The staff are always friendly and happy to help recommend. I’ve been introduced to some fantastic new whiskies and it’s one of the few places that has the odd bottle of Springbank. Honestly priced, great selection, recommended.

Fantastic Wine Shop on Mill Road The shop is known for its wide selection of wine and craft beers with different prices. I truly admire knowledgeable and friendly staff who can assist with recommendations. The shop is a popular spot for wine enthusiasts on Mill Road in Cambridge. It is my favourite go-to shop when thinking about which wines I should try and experience next. Highly recommended 👍🏼

A wine shop to avoid. Bought a very expensive Nebbiolo (£27) from Mill Rd which was either faulty (OK it happens) or fake. The shop assistant refused to accept return declaring it perfect between mouthfuls of cheesy wotsits. I live on the Piedmontese-Ligurian border so I know what nebbiolo should taste like. On the plus side they have a big range of beer.

A tremendous independent wine merchant with changing stock, deals on mixed cases, and knowledgeable staff. Also does various beers, whiskey etc.

Since returning to Cambridge last year, I've started visiting Bacchanalia on a weekly basis. The staff have an encyclopedic knowledge of the drinks they sell and clearly have a passion for ensuring you walk away with something you'll like. The 'house wine' shelf is consistently excellent and more affordable than some of the other wines in the shop too.

As per the previous review - great place and well-staffed, but it falls short on some of the dishes on the menu. Firstly the food when served is lukewarm. When the waiters are informed, they, in a condescending tone, reply, "well, why do you want it so hot!!!!" My guests and I were shocked by their retort; these were pasta dishes that needed to be served hot or the very least nice and warm. I couldn't finish my linguini as in minutes; it had turned stone cold. My friend's truffle pasta was a complete disappointment too. The majority of desserts have alcohol limiting the choice. Our waiter Costa insisted we take the alcoholic ones despite our strong opposition, which we found very rude. Bacchanalia can be a fantastic dining experience if only the management pays attention to the quality of the food. Come on, Bacchanalia, you have all the ingredients to be the best restaurant in London. All that's required is staff attitude to be less reckless and focus on food content is vital.

One of the best beer shops in the UK when I visited a few years ago even though it's a wine shop.

I drop in occasionally and can usually expect to find something new and eclectic. It might be a 330ml from a small local brewery or a 12% special edition ale imported from the US/etc. Each time I visit I come out with a few interesting new things. I'm solely looking at the beer, there's plenty of other drinks + wines + spirits too.

I had the unfortunate misfortune of being dealt with by Paul. I was after a special wine to celebrate mine and my wife’s 5 year wedding anniversary. When trying to ask questions about the different wines he seemed to have no willing to help. I’m not sure if he was drunk or high but he was extremely rude and condescending. He made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. You are honestly better off visiting the Cambridge Wine Merchants on Kings parade. It seem like they actually knew what they were talking about there. My experience in this shop was horrendous and you can be sure that I will not be returning.

Great place to find a great bottle to enjoy & an experience in itself. I'm not a wine expert and appreciate the guidance the staff offer. They're very helpful but only if you ask for help i.e. they don't bother you as you browse and it's worth browsing! I've found a great bottle of wine for my friend who does really know his wine & lovely appealing unusual bottles for other gifts. The range is really worth just looking over, it's not clearly labelled, which might help novices but it's part of the rustic look I think! There's a range of wines, gins, beer and even a selection of several Meads to try across the price ranges.

I really enjoy my visits to Bacchanalia Mill road. The place is always filled with the most interesting and expansive selection. No where else in Cambridge compares. I appreciate the staff's laid back approach and will leave you alone to find the hidden gems yourself but if approached they are helpful, friendly and most of all knowledgeable (without being aficionado snobs).

This shop is great for what it has, except for service. The advisor if he's talking about tasting, gets so absorbed that he ignores anyone that then comes into the shop. God forbid they wanted to buy something. Thankfully he did ask, as I was leaving, 'do you want something'? Oh, the irony of it, as I went in for something and left with nothing, yet managed to inspire his curiosity in my trespassing his shop.

Visited for the beers and they had a really good selection of local and imported beers. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and the prices were pretty good too.

World class beer shop with world class staff. Jim and Ed spotted me experimenting with gateway Belgian beers and saw the opportunity to move me on to harder stuff. To this day, if a new risky beer with unknown side effects his the market they try to test it on me first.

Fantastic and very diverse, extensive selection of beers - one of the best in the country! Loads of unusual and small breweries, expertly selected by very knowledgeable staff. Wine and spirits selection is also extremely good.

Stumbled upon Bacchanalia while walking towards Cambridge Blue and so glad I did. Bacchanalia has an extensive offering of british and international craft beers. Owner was very helpful in suggesting local crafts based upon our preferences. Beers were reasonably priced, but I could definitely see myself spending way too much time and money at Bacchanalia. Though I spent the majority of my time going through the craft beer, there is also a decent selection of wine.

Cambridge is not short of places to buy alcoholic drinks (an understatement). But this place is different. They have an amazing range in a small space and an extremely knowledgeable staff. They also sell a changing selection of draft beers to take away.

Wonderful shop for wine lovers and beer fans. I was in search of beers during my visit, but the wine selection looked to be impressive as well. There were two beers available on draught, one English ale and one imported from the States - both were delicious. The selection of bottles and cans is fantastic ... craft beers from English, German, Belgian and American breweries offer a worldwide selection. Worth a trip for stocking up on quality ales.

Tried to spend a considerable amount of money on vouchers for a friend's birthday. They asked me to come back several times to get authorisation from the manager. I did once, still not possible to get vouchers. I gave up and spent my money elsewhere. Ridiculous.
