Unfortunately, Bacaro got it all wrong for our visit. The place was quiet when we entered with only 2-3 tables occupied by couples. An initial comment was made by one of our party, I am paraphrasing here, "It can't be very good if it's this quiet on a Saturday night!", which was subsequently proven correct. We were seated and a drinks order taken, with some ambiguity surrounding whether or not we could order certain drinks. Nevertheless, the waitress returned with our ordered drinks and took our food order. One member of our party chose to have 2 starters for her main, which we requested be brought with the rest of the meals, they were not. Giving the benefit of the doubt, we waited for the rest of the mains to arrive, all pizzas, which seem to take an inordinate amount of time to prepare and cook, given that there were not many people in the restaurant at the time. As a side note at this point, two further couples had come and gone, before we had received our mains! With all of this set aside, a good meal can make up for the poor service, however, that was not to be the case. The food quality was very poor, making it seem like this was the first time the chef had attempted to make pizzas. Tasteless and doughy! It really was a poor effort all round. The whole experience was compounded by the negative, dismissive and quite frankly rude, response to our complaints, by the owner/head chef. It was amateur at very best and not a experience that I will partake in again. Many better restaurants down the Cowley Road to visit.

We were a party of 5 who walked in for a quick bite. We ordered food and drinks and when we asked for some limoncellos, we were told “it’s not that kind of place”, despite limoncello based drinks being on the menu - when we highlighted this they suggested we could have limoncello if we paid full price for the ‘spritz’ on the cocktail menu -£7.60. We chose to stick to beer and ordered 4 pizzas with one of our party ordering 2 starters but specifically asking for them to come at the same time as the pizza. Unfortunately that didn’t happen and the starters both came early and were eaten before the other orders arrived. When the pizzas arrived another 10minutes later, we were one short, this went unnoticed by the waiters and we had to ask multiple times where the other pizza was and by this point we just wanted to leave. I understand things can get missed but it’s how the staff try and rectify the problem that matters. The staff (excluding one waiter Lane) came up short, instead of taking responsibility, the chef/owner blamed the staff saying “they’re not listening to me”. In the end we were given some money off the bill, the missed pizza in a takeaway box and some limoncellos..... The pizza itself was pretty average and they don’t have chilli oil, which I thought was unusual for an Italian. All in all an underwhelming experience and one that we shan’t be repeating.

Went with some friends and was pleased to find a beautiful restaurant with amazing staff who were incredibly friendly and very professional. The food was very nice with pizzas and dessert made on site. Outstanding restaurant.

The restaurant was absolutely lovely, with very creatively named dishes and with descriptions that actually fit with the flavour. I had 'the surprising one', I won't spoil it but it was absolutely delightful. My partner had 'the messy one' and it was baked to perfection. Haven't had anything from the wine list but it looked like they put lots of effort in. The staff was attentive and a delight to have especially compared to other restaurants (one in particular) that I've had in Cowley. Would highly recommend coming, this place deserves more attention.

What an awesome place! The menu sports quirkily-named pizzas, all of which are delicious. Visited Bacaro with a few friends not too long ago and we ended up trying a little from each others' plates because it all looked so tasty. The staff were friendly and professional, and the food and drink very reasonably priced. Highly recommended! In fact, I'm writing this review just as I'm about to head out for a return visit!

A group of us decided to check out this new Italian restaurant the other night and we were all throughly impressed. Excellent wine and friendly service and some seriously tasty (yet very reasonably priced) pizza, with a mix of traditional and more unusual toppings. Will definitley be coming back soon!

After getting home from a trip to Sicily I was craving some delicious Italian food in Oxford. Bacaro is just that. It has some really tasty Italian classics like arancini and the best Parmesan truffle fries I’ve ever had, but also more creative things I’ve never had before like the nduja, goats cheese honey toast and ox cheek blanco pizza. Which were also really delicious. I loved that with a group of us we could all order a bunch of sharey things and pizzas and try everything. Great lots of veggie dishes for the vegetarians too. Also a great wine selection and staff are Super friendly and great at helping you pick a wine based on what you like. I’m excited to visit again soon.

Food was fantastic, very accommodating to gluten free where able to do interesting polenta options. Service was very good and delicious and different wines. Your able to get a flight to sample wines which allows you to choose the perfect wine and enjoy a selection. Would highly recommend!!!

We went for a spontaneous dinner on Saturday night, and they managed to seat a group of five of us last minute. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the N'duja sausage pizza with honey, it was easily the best pizza I've had in a long time. The staff were really lovely and came over to explain the concept of the restaurant etc. Overall it was a really relaxing evening out.

We went for a range of different cichetti (Italian style tapas dishes) and the selection of options was fabulous. The staff were interested in telling us all about the different dishes (I didn’t know aranchini meant little orange until then!). We loved the ox cheek pizza (the white base is a great addition) but the truffle fries and n’duja with honey and thyme were also delicious. Definitely coming back again soon!

I’m in Oxford for work and, by pure accident (or fate?), I discovered this restaurant. Since I don’t like judging a place based on just one visit, I decided to go twice. Spoiler alert: it was a wild ride. Night 1 - The Case of the Missing Tap Water I walk in. The restaurant is half-empty. The host stand? Abandoned. No one in sight. I stand there awkwardly, slowly creeping closer to the counter, wondering if I’m invisible. Finally, a friendly gentleman (who I assume is the manager) spots me and takes me to my table. He asks, “Still or sparkling?” I confidently reply, “Tap water, please.” He nods, says “OK”… and then vanishes into thin air. Water? Never arrived. Did he forget? Did he go on a quest to find the purest tap water in all of England? We may never know. Luckily, a hardworking and super sweet waitress saved the day by taking my order and -miracle of miracles- bringing me the water I had requested years ago (okay, maybe just minutes, but it felt long). Food-wise? Pizza was fantastic! A little too much chunky pepperoni for my taste, but that’s a personal preference. No complaints otherwise. The bill arrives with the usual service charge included. I paid it- but only for the waitress, because our dear manager? Not exactly a service MVP. Night 2 - Speed Service & Vanishing Objects Friday night. Full house. I brace myself for a long wait, but lo and behold. same manager, different energy. This time, he seats me instantly (growth!) at a not-so-great table near the door. No problem, I’ll take what I can get. Does he ask if I want water? Absolutely not. At this point, I assume I’ve been blacklisted from the tap water club. A new waitress, equally delightful, takes my order. Food arrives in record time. I order salmon rigatoni. The salmon? Great. The rigatoni? Blah. No seasoning, no flavor, just… pasta. I consider asking for parmesan, but putting cheese on fish feels like a sin. Then, something incredible happens. I take my last bite. I wipe my mouth. Before I even lower my napkin..BOOM! My plate disappears. Like magic. Before I even blink, my napkin follows. I half expect my phone and wallet to vanish next. Final Thoughts - Lightning-Fast but a Bit Chaotic This restaurant has a solid foundation: good food (mostly), insanely fast service, and hardworking waitstaff. BUT, the customer care is… inconsistent. It’s like they’re on a speedrun of restaurant service, prioritizing efficiency over making guests feel truly welcome. Oh, and maybe, just maybe, someone could bring the tap water next time? Would I return? Maybe.

I ordered a gluten free pizza margherita from the Jericho restaurant , on Deliveroo. The pizza tasted so bad and it wasn’t even cooked properly, I understand gluten free is going to have a different taste. I’ve had gluten free pizzas from other places and it didn’t taste bad, so I’m sure it wasn’t cooked well, plus there was so much mozzarella but not proper sauce, overall it was a bad taste.
