Babylon cafe in Glasgow City

I used to go to bablyion years ago and it was fantastic and this time I went before Ramadan and I expected the same quality of food because I used to go to Damscino but this time I decided to go babylon but it was so bad quality food.

On two occasions I have came here and it has been closed although Google maps states open.

Best shawarma in Glasgow by far. Not tried anything else on the menu

Meh, it’s all I can really say. Don’t know if I came on a bad night or if it’s always like this, but only one waitress (who done a super job keeping up with the full dining room, deliveries and the phone). Positives: - Complimentary half bowl of soup whilst you wait - Server done an absolutely amazing job looking after whole dining room herself whilst also doing the drinks, clearing empty plates and tables, delivery orders and managing the phone. - nice enough dining room with plenty of big tables - food was delicious Negatives: - only 1 server to do absolutely everything on a busy Friday night. That’s madness - drinks missing from the menu - ordered hummus that comes with bread. Bread never came and due to how busy server was, took a while to ask where it was. That’s when I found out they had ran out of bread. Server asked if I wanted something else instead to her credit, but not ideal. - took 40 minutes for food to arrive

Came for lunch with 2 work friends and it was fantastic. Really lovely and super waitress. Food was fantastic and they gave us complimentary soup, bread and tea. The chicken shawarma was best I have ever had. AMAZING.

The grilled chicken needs a microscope to see it, and it comes alone without french fries or anything. I don’t think I can repeat the experience, and the price is not cheap Just a little salt

I believe the restaurant has changed their management, because of that the quality of the food and services are extremely low !

We payed £31 for 3 shawwma and there no chicken in it its just bread and salad and it was cold the soon as I got

THE FOOD is HEAVENLY🤤, don't be fooled by the building shape from out side, everyone has to come and try it, and i guarantee 100% that ppl will become a regular. Unfortunately i don't live in Glasgow, otherwise i will come here ALOT The KEBAB is amazing ( p.s. order extra grilled tomatoes) Worth the money 💰 the portions are big, they also serve free stuff. The TEA IS THE BEST I'VE TASTED IN UK (not exaggerating), i think they heat it on coal. Best experience ever. The staff are very friendly. 5 stars for food 5 for hygiene 3 for decore

Had a lovely late lunch from here yesterday. Complimentary soup was yummy. Sharing starter platter was excellent with amazing falafel and hummus. One of the best mixed grills I’ve ever had, the meat was very succulent and juicy, compliments to the chef! Bread was hot & fresh too. Staff were friendly and attentive and the decor was really nice. Would definitely come back! Only improvement to suggest would be more hot meze options, but overall still a 5 star experience meal. Will definitely be back.

The food was pretty good and was a bargain given the surprisingly low prices. Portions were fair but normally sized; we under ordered a bit because we believed the earlier review saying that portions were gigantic. They aren’t. The Bakhtari grill with one skewer of chicken and one of lamb, for example, was three smallish chicken nugget sized pieces of chicken and three tiny, tiny lamb choplets. It was fair for the price but just that. Our server was competent but not personable. The bread was good. The baklava was meh. The grilled meat was good. The Shirazi salad was ok. The hummus was ok; the baba ghanoush was unusual - pretty much a deconstructed melange of the constituent parts rather than being like any I’ve had elsewhere. The portion on the sampler plate for two was so small it was hard to form an opinion given that we were sharing. The lemonade drink of lemon juice with mint was pretty wonderful. All in all, nothing astounding but no regrets, and if we were staying in Glasgow we would probably eventually find our way back.

BEST FALFEL WRAP in Glasgow!! Seriously go in an try it and you you will say the same!!! Love this place such sweet and friendly staff and very reasonable prices. Plenty of veggie and vegan options and wash it all down with a yummy glass of sweettned lemon juice with mint ....nom nom nom 🤤

Delicious food. I had adana kebab and my two friends had a mixed grill each. All were served with naan. The portion sizes and prices are good. The service is very good.

Owner was very friendly and the wraps are the best in town. Portion size is just right not too large. Suggestion: Got to do more to make yourself known.

Been here many times, a few times now they have run out of shawarma, however the replacement Adana kebab was delicious and service has always been brilliant.

I had a very good meal here including a free soup to start with and a free tea afterwards. The staff was nice and the food portions are huge! I can only recommend going here!

For starters we had a mixture of eggplant, salad & humous with bread. For the mains we had a variety of meat dishes, my favourite was the koubideh kebab. Friendly customer service & clean washrooms.

Delicious Arabic food, beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, reasonable price. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Glasgow.

Food is good. But not easy to get parking

I’ve been a regular costumer of this resturant for years, and I went in today to use the toilet facility as I was in an urgent need of a toilet due to having a medical condition. I asked one staff who worked in kitchen to use the toilet and in a very rude manner he replied, NO! You are not allowed to use the facility because you aren’t a costumer!! It was so shocking and disappointing to hear such a response. I have decided not to go back to this restaurant again even though their food is great, their costumer service needs a serious re-evaluation.

We went here for lunch one Sunday afternoon, one adult and four children. We were the only people there. Food was okay although expensive for what it was, ended up costing around £50 all-in for one course each.

The best middle Eastern food in Glasgow! A hidden gem! The food was very fresh and well prepared. The meet melted in your mouth and the service excellent. My wife is from Azerbaijan and she says it's the real deal! 10/10 recommend.

Decent place, nothing extraordinary

First visit to Babylon and didn't know what to expect. Went early on Friday night to find restaurant empty apart from one solo dinner. After a bit a group of 4 people came in. Simple decor, very friendly waitress.Good choice of menu options, lots of different meat and couple of vegetarian options. My wife and I both went for a stew, cant recall the name of the dish. I had chicken and she had lamb. Came with side plate of boiled rice. The stew was a mix of peppers, aubergine, onion, potatoes in a tomato sauce. Big portion, loads of meat.Great value at £7.99 per person.I would definitely return and recommend a visit.

Return visit! Took family this time...Taboulleh wonderful...Mixed grill delicious and well cooked..BBQ spicy chicken to die for. Great bread ..Lebanese Minto to drink.. fantastic! Friendly service..clean ..busy on a Friday night...loved it 😁 Will be back..again and again. Does takeaway too.

If you ever lived in the Middle East almost everyone will tell you homemade food is better than restaurants and this restaurant brings you Lebanese authentic food homemade on a platter.

Man the place is too small we reserved a table they end up giving us a lining table in the middle of the walking way. We felt uncomfortable and tbh the food is expensive an overrated restaurant

I recently ate at the Cafe with some friends and we loved the fresh, tasty food - the lamb was a delight. I asked the Cafe to cater for a work event last Saturday for 60 people- great food, punctual, everybody was very impressed! The food arrived hot and was delicious. Highly recommend the Babylon Cafe for eating in or catering for your special occasion

One of the greatest middle eastern food in Glasgow

An unusual find under a railway arch just off Carlton Place brings a taste of Old Baghdad (Babylon) to Glasgow, along with some very flavoursome alcohol free Persian lager, and the staff were very courteous... ☺

We went for dinner with friend . We order food and soft drink . Drinks arrived with cans , no glasses . Food taste was weird . Looks likes old food . We were so disappointed. We will not back .

Second visit to Babylon cafe and we ask ourselves why we don’t come here every week! The food is all freshly cooked and bursting with different flavours, portions are generous and the staff so warm, welcoming and helpful. Fantastic value for money but make sure you’re hungry when you go as the variety of food on the menu will tempt you to overeat.

Great teasting food, good service

Lugar encantador en el centro de Glasgow. Buena comida Tenía una parrillada mixta, sabía muy bien y perfectamente preparada. Gran personal, muy educado y servicial. Incluso me dejaron cargar mi teléfono gracias. Buen valor para el dinero. Moderno hasta la fecha. Sólo el defecto sería el puente cercano, se podría escuchar el tren. Sin duda volveremos la próxima vez que esté en Glasgow.

Como nos sentamos y vinimos a saber que no tienen verduras para la pizza vegi. Mi hijo y yo pedimos nuestra comida pero fue decepcionante y muy caro. Una poción de patatas fritas y 4 pepitas para 5. 99 y una pequeña porción de shawarma mix para 7. 99 o 9. 99 (lo siento, olvidé que es el precio exacto). 15 p bastones de Pepsi polaco nos fueron vendidos por 1. 60.

Absolutely rubbish, big bill and small portions and when you ask for tea they will give you a small tea cup you can’t even feel like you have had tea at all! It’s so small you just waste your money, it’s a Kurdish restaurant for god sake! How can Kurdish restaurants portions be that small and tiny???????
