Babul's in Darlington

We came in as a last minute dinner. We were served and looked after by a superb young lady, Anika. She was knowledgeable, her service and charm was far greater than many people in her profession twice her age. A real credit to Babuls.

Food fresh but quite bland. Disappointed that they refused to add a bit of heat to the butter chicken, never experienced that before in any Indian restaurant

We finally found somewhere in Darlington Town Centre that did Mocktails. Babul's had a very good selection to choose from. I opted for Indian Summer and it looked great as was the taste. It cost about £6.90, this might sound a lot for a mocktail however it is a cut above the rest of ones we have bought elsewhere. Can definitely recommend them. The staff were friendly and professional. Great music too. We've heard that the food is so we will return to sample that as well 5/5 stars.

Comida deliciosa (todo ordenado cargado naan). Los cócteles sabían bien, pero no eran muy alcohólicos: después de cinco cócteles y dos copas de Prosecco dentro del período de tiempo, uno pensaría que eso sería suficiente para alegrar a alguien, ¡pero nuestro grupo se fue todavía sintiéndose sobrio! También decepcionados porque no tenían una alternativa de queso sin lácteos: la mayoría de los restaurantes e incluso los pubs atienden a personas con una variedad de intolerancias y alérgenos. No iremos de nuevo por Bottomless Brunch o cócteles, pero vale la pena otra visita por la comida.

La comida es siempre fresca y encantadora que disfrutamos cada vez que cenamos en su mayoría para la cena y siempre probamos algo que no teníamos antes. Muy recomendable para amigos y familiares.

I highly recommend visiting this place! The food is delicious, and the atmosphere is beautiful. I was impressed by the option to order drinks from an iPad. Instead of being interrupted constantly for food orders, you can simply click on the iPad when you're ready to order. There is prices not expensive, Thank you xx The "Girls' Corner" in the restroom area is just wow! ❗

Came here tonight for the first time. It's the nicest meal , I have had for a long time. Fresh, delicately spiced. Great flavour. Well made drinks and great choice if you are driving. Amazing value , great service and friendly staff. Will be back.

The first time visiting Babul’s wont be the last. A tapas like menu approach. Food was tasty and authentic. Recommend if you like Indian food try here you won’t be disappointed

Lovely meal on Friday It was my Dad's 80th and was day two of 3 days of celebrations with family members. The staff were lovely and smiles when I told them of my Dad's big Birthday. He also received a chocolate sweet with a sparkler in. This little touch made it that little bit more special so thank you Babuls

Popped in for a lunch on the off chance. Lovely soft lighting, comfortable small table near the back. Service was excellent- staff explained things clearly and helped when necessary without being overbearing. Food incredible- light and well seasoned. Presentation was great. Good value as the portions were fairly generous. Can’t wait to try again when I’m the area.

Third time here. The staff are welcoming, the place has a nice atmosphere and vibe. The food is varied with plenty of choices for dietary requirements. Nice desserts It's reasonably priced. Everywhere is nice and clean. The only niggle is the weird iPad ordering system ( I don't see the point) but we are used to it now.

I had the chicken tikka masala and it was delicious, however the mini onion bahjis were fairly dry. The service and atmosphere were amazing. Would recommend come here

Came for food in the restaurant tonight , the atmosphere was brilliant but the main thing for me tonight was the attitude and experience from the staff working tonight, I asked for the names of the staff working Nikith and Naz , honestly they were the most amazing waiters they gave us the best service we could have ever asked for nothing was too much trouble ,they went above and beyond and the service off them two lads was impeccable and they are a complete credit to the company because they were brilliant !

Called in for coffee Sunday morning. 4 of us. Not kidding, at least 15 mins probably 20 before one drink came out. Another 10 before second came out ( first person actually ordered a second drink because first was finished) appalling. And so on. We were all ' wtf, how long to make a coffee ?'We love this restaurant, eat often and rate it highly but come on guys, that was seriously bad service.

Visited here for brunch and had a great experience. All of the serving staff were lovely, found it really convenient to order drinks from a tablet on the table. Lots of options on the menu, some really different brunch options - the loaded naan was a favourite but everything we had was great. Have already recommended to family and will be returning.

Simply delicious. My party of 3 had great time on Christmas eve. The service was great and everything was explained so well even my mum knew how it worked. The food was just so so good I'm going back!

Babul’s Darlington – A Perfect Birthday Celebration We had the pleasure of dining at Babul’s in Darlington yesterday (Sunday, 22nd December) for my birthday, and it was an incredible experience. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The food was absolutely delicious – each dish was fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. You can tell a lot of care and attention goes into the preparation. The staff truly made the evening special. They were warm, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and happy. Their accommodating and helpful nature added to the overall experience. I can’t recommend Babul’s enough – if you’re looking for amazing food and top-notch service, this is the place to go. We’ll definitely be back!

The best ! There are a lot of good Indians in darlington. But for me this one tops the lot. The place looks great is absolutely spotless. The staff are all lovely. And then the food. It is delicious ! Everything we've ever ordered has been outstanding. It is a 10/10 experience !

Nice spot serving a good Indian brunch, including loaded naans. We got one as well as a naandwich, both with paneer. Very nice, the paneer comes in stripes which gives them a nice texture. Bit puzzled by the ordering system, as you are given an iPad to order drinks but need to summon (via iPad) the waiter to order food. Absolutely not intuitive, and twice the staff had to do it for us, which kind of defeats the purpose.

From the minute we walked in the atmosphere was so welcoming and the decor is fabulous all the way down the washrooms which even had a self care station with hair dryers and straighteners. There was 6 in our party and we were seated in a round booth which was absolutely prefect to be able to communicate during our meal. There are tablets on the table that you order your drinks from and once you are ready to order your meal you are not waiting around to catch a waiter’s eye, you just tap on the tablet and they appear. Ordering was easy and it was repeated back to us to no mistakes. Now down to the food… quantity, quality and taste were amazing. Everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered from Poppadoms to curry and rice. I had chicken tikka bites from the light plate, which was the starters. For main I ordered Chicken Tikka Jhalfrezi, it said it was hot on the menu but I didn’t find it too hot which was nice and of course it was delicious. Other items ordered were King Prawn Madras and Chicken Jhalfrezi, Pilau Rice and Mushroom Rice. All were thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend Babul’s in Darlington if you are looking for a great Indian meal at very reasonable prices.

Went for an impromptu Saturday night dinner with mum. We rocked up at 9 and were greeted with big smiles and assurances that it wasn’t too late at all to order food. They ran out of chicken thighs, so we had prawns instead. Still delicious. The lamb briyani was a touch dry but flavours were spot on. The naan was tender and fluffy; definitely made in house. We also had pani puri and cannot wait to go back for more. Definitely highly recommended.

Just had an afternoon meal and the food was amazing. The service was excellent would definitely recommend.

We were given a warm and welcoming reception as soon as we arrived and shown to our table. Time was taken to explain the ordering process via a tablet n how it worked. Despite this tech, the staff were very attentive and remained so throughout the evening. A good explanation of the menu was given and our food was served promptly. Our choice of food was amazing, it was presented well, tasted wonderful and was so filling, we had no room for a sweet! Babul's Darlington is highly recommended for a visit and we would definitely return.

Went here on Saturday lunchtime with girlfriends for Bottomless Brunch. The service was excellent, food was delicious and the cocktails were wonderful. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be returning.

Really disappointed at a lack of empathy. Had made a large booking which I cancelled 11h instead of 12h before booking (only due to a death in the family). I phoned 3 times to explain the situation and asked if the money could be transferred for use another time. The answer was no, and they charged me £150. I understand policy, but occasionally some empathy is warranted.

Wow. The flavors were on point. Everything about this meal was perfection. The food, people, cocktail.

Initial service was good but brought my food out the portions where tiny not worth the money at all tired to talk to my waiter to ask about it I got laughed at and he walked away

Last minute decision to try Babul’s last night and we were not disappointed. Fantastic service from everyone we spoke to and the food was delicious. Love the use of the iPad for drinks etc - can really see the benefit and not gimmicky. All in all a fantastic experience - can’t wait to return !

I've been a few times recently and love their food! I took my mother today and the manger came over and gave her a big hug 🫂. This is the kind of place Babuls is - positive, kind, welcoming, and fun! The food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. They have made a regular in me because of this.

10 10 always. food is made fresh so it does come out separately and different times but no longer then 5 minutes so it’s no issue :) the staff here go above and beyond and deserve huge recognition. an amazing twist on Indian and street food, everything is priced very well and there’s a huge variety of choice - the quality of the food and drinks are brilliant, with a choice of soft drinks, cocktails and mocktails, as well as deserts. amazing !!

In our opinion, we thought the drinks prices were rather high, especially red wine. However, cocktails were rather good for the price. Disappointed the restaurant does not serve chicken tikka sizzler as that’s our favourite. Have to admit the service was impeccable. Very friendly staff and so helpful On a whole the food was very average in comparison with good Indian restaurants in town. I suppose everyone is entitled to have their favourite unfortunately this restaurant is not for us.

This was our second visit and again it did not disappoint. It has a great atmosphere and the food is delicious. Our favourite dish is the Keema Pau. We often travel to visit Dishoom restaurants and Babuls has the same kind of atmosphere and quality food and is local so we are over the moon! Can’t wait for our next visit.

Modern Indian restaurant. Wide variety of dishes to choose from. Thoroughly enjoyed lamb curry and butterfly king prawns. Aloo gobi. Would highly recommended a visit.

Enjoyed this modern Indian cuisine. As a dietitian I really like some vegetables with grilled chicken thighs. Usually there are no vegetables, but it’s here. Staff was nice and welcoming. Drinks are ordered through the tablet on the table which is convenient, but waited a bit longer than usual (10 min for tap water). Closer to the evening music was getting party like, which a bit frustrating, but overall not too loud. Would recommend coming here 👍🏽 thanks for something different among Indian restaurants

The food and service is absolutely sensational. We were out looking for brunch/lunch options and decided to take a punt. The food was absolutely beautiful and the service was exceptional. Was made very uncomfortable by certain staff, food wasn't that great , won't be returning , the rules there are ridiculous, trying say they predict the future, making us feel small, wrong attitude. I've left this feedback quite reasonable to be fair, as I could of wrote alot more,

I've had cocktails here but never eaten here until yesterday. Lunch was fantastic, the best Biryiani I can recall. The lamb was meltingly tender and the sauce so punched with flavour. Amazing. I will certainly be back to try more dishes. Special mention to Sid who looked after me so well.

Very tasty - minor issue with a food item but was resolved very professionally by the team there. I think they forgot to put lemons in the homemade lemonade as it tasted mostly like soda water, but overall 5/5

A nicely laid out restaurant, relaxing atmosphere. All staff happy and welcoming. Quick and easy to order drinks on iPad, food is high quality and tasty as. Even gave my husband a surprise piece of birthday cake with a song a very nice touch that I never ordered but stated on my booking as I expressed my appreciation for squeezing us in for his birthday. Would highly recommend.

They were able to sit two even on a busy Friday night. My mom’s been to India and said it was all very authentic. Only issue is that they played very loud music, but that’s par for the course these days, so all together 9.5/10

Food was mostly great, particularly the Paneer Saag, but the service was very mixed. Ordering drinks on the tablet is great and they arrived quickly. We tried to order poppadoms/pickles while we looked over the menu but were told all food must be ordered at the same time. Not ideal, but it is what it is. But then upon ordering, the server asked if we wanted things as starters/mains or altogether, and we were clear we wanted it all separate (it was a bit of a joke having already tried to order poppadoms earlier)… you can guess what happened, with the curry’s arriving when we were barely halfway through the starters. Apparently this is “just policy”/“how we do it”, and if that’s the case fine, but I won’t be back. Which is a shame as the food is great but I don’t appreciate being rushed through in barely an hour on a quiet Tuesday.
