Arvelli in Darlington

We ordered through Just Eat. First time we've eaten from this restaurant and it did not disappoint. I actually really can't fault them on anything. Food was delivered hot, portions were a perfect size, the taste was delectable and the cookery superb. We will definitely be back.

Ate here on a Sunday evening, enjoying the set offer meal. Portions were very generous and all dishes delicious. The Aloo Chat starter was a stand out as was the King Prawn Jalfrezi which was worth the additional charge for prawn. Service was friendly. Restaurant was quiet. We asked for the menu to choose the special offer, this was a laminated sheet and I feel that the great value might be enjoyed more if it was offered and celebrated by the restaurant. Overall, a great meal, totally recomend if visiting Darlington. Well worth the short walk from the town centre.

First time trying and it was incredible!

Chicken was very tough in the korma as were the king prawns in the tikka masala. Very disappointed for he amount of money it cost. Not sure what the onion stuff was that came with the popodoms as this was not very nice.

Visited Monday night for the 3 course deal 14.95 each the food was beautiful best we've had for a long time I did expect smaller portions because of the offer but we got exactly what you would have on a normal night. It was very quiet can't believe it the place should be packed it was outstanding food and service.

Would have been 5 but the lemonade bottles were extremely small. Given the fact I'm a massive fanny they serve spicy food... food was great tho. Please don't let that put you off.

Have never ordered or dined here before however i rang the restaurant late at 10pm for a delivery (as I was too late for delivery at my usual restaurant) Food arrived after around 35-40 minutes so spot on. Food was absolutely amazing and very reasonably priced, Very glad I called and give them a try. So good I had to come straight on and leave a 5 star review! Butter chicken with pilau rice, garlic naan, veg samosa, onion bhaji & poppadom All full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Looking forward to the tikka masala next time I order an indian

This was a great place for Indian food in Darlington, not too expensive, good service and easy booking. A good selection of food for vegetarians too

Food was nice, delivered quick and hot however the wrong curry was received. I ordered chicken tikka madras and got bhuna instead.

The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff went above and beyond to cater to our every need. In my experience, it was the most delectable Indian cuisine I've ever tasted.

My wife and I visited this restaurant on a quiet Sunday evening. We ordered starters and main courses which were all delicious and served in very clean and comfortable restaurant. As it was quiet, the owner even took time to chat with us about how the business is going from strength to strength based, mainly (due to it’s location at the edge of the town centre), on recommendations. I have to say that this restaurant is really worth the five minute walk out of the town centre for the excellent quality of the ingredients and, hence, the flavours of the food.

Best curry in Darlington, best Goan curry - my new favourite curry! 5 of us ate - all of us loved it. Great, pleasant service too!

I have eaten here twice in two weeks. The food and service were outstanding both times. While the price was really reasonable. My dad on the first visit was really well catered for as gluten free.

Go up North to Darlington for work every so often and tried all restaurants and this is the best one going! Today had poppadums (which have the best onion chutney and sauces, then chicken tikka, followed by lamb bhuna. Lamb was unbelievably tender The food is so good in this restaurant and in addition the staff are so polite, friendly and professional. Unfortunately and sadly have to eat on my own there but food and staff make it worth the effort of going out alone when away for work. Wish the restaurant was where I live !

Me and my friends all had a meal at Arvelli as none of us had ever been before and wanted to see what it was like and we all came away saying we will have to go there again......and again! We all enjoy everything we had, the starters were all 10 out of 10 and so were the mains. My sister and I love Mango Lassi and didn't see it on the menu so as we were leaving we just asked why it wasn't on. The young man serving said it was on (we had by accident not been given that part of the drinks menus) He could see how disappointed we were so VERY kindly went and got us a glass each for us to try and I can tell you, it was darn good indeed. So if you enjoy lovely tasted food and love Mango Lassi you really have to give Arevlli a try out with a bunch of your friends and you will have a fab evening.

We don’t often go out for an Indian meal but I wanted a change from the usual pub grub. I saw the great reviews on here so I thought it would be a good choice. The service was great, there were two or three staff bringing out our dishes {there was 6 of us), to make sure we were all served together. The food looked good and tasted great. You could tell everything was made fresh, the curry had that beautiful subtle depth of flavour that you hope for. None of the dishes were at all oily, which has put me off in the past in some restaurants. We all really enjoyed our meals and appreciated the attentiveness of the staff. We can’t wait to come back!

We had a takeaway so can’t comment on the atmosphere - but the food was great! We had just what we’d ordered and it was ready on time. Really tasty. The staff were pleasant and helpful too. I’d never been before but will definitely be going again!

Can’t recommend Arvelli enough! Food is consistently amazing. Good quality and delicious 🤤. Staff are very friendly and polite. A regular for us and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Don’t eat Indian food often as I struggle with the amount of onions added to dishes (which I understand is for flavour etc) but my friend wanted to go for one and so I happily went along. Staff want to go above and beyond to give you a good experience. We had alcohol free cocktails which were lovely. I was unsure what I wanted and asked for advice, mentioning that I can’t eat a lot of onions but was recommended a Balti which comes with huge sliced onion…On that basis I ate the chicken only so didn’t feel totally satisfied. The restaurant did give me a try of patil sauce which had lovely flavours and I would get that next time, minus the onions!! Restaurant is very cold, but go to the toilets which are colder and then you feel a bit warmer! All in all I probably would go again as would like to try the alternative sauce but it’s hard for me to be excited as I’m not really a fan of Indian food and for £25 a head I feel I’ve had better. Good luck however with this business

Amazing flavours in all our dishes ordered, a succulent lamb,and a well marinaded chicken tikka dish that the tastebuds can’t help but enjoy. Looking forward to going back…strongly recommended to go here!!!!

If you want fabulous food, coupled with excellent service as well as good advice about the dishes they cook, then this is the place you need to visit. Arvelli is a lovely spacious contemporary restaurant on the edge of town which gives a ‘first class’ dining experience. Both my partner and I chose to eat lamb dishes on this occasion both of which did not disappoint, the lamb being ‘melt in the mouth’ soft and the spices perfectly balanced. My partner chose the Gosht Kata Masala which is an ‘all in one’ dish with rice, side of vegetables and a beautifully soft Naan bread all of which was delicious. I initially chose the Goan Lamb, however on asking which rice I should eat with the dish our waiter then mentioned this dish was quite hot (which is not what I eat), he then suggested I try the Lamb Balti (I love Balti), he then went onto explain how they make the Balti sauce and how long it cooks for, so that’s the dish I chose and I was not disappointed at all, it was delicious.

Not a lot of people in but it was a Sunday, staff were really welcoming and friendly, food was hot and tasted amazing as well..

Went to arvelli tonight, got the gost kata masala, the food came beautifully presented, and the service was unbelievable. My friend got the tandoori thali, he really enjoyed it as well. Would definately recommend and will be coming back!

I recently had the pleasure of ordering from this Indian takeaway, and I must say, it was absolutely amazing! From the moment I opened the containers, I was greeted by the tantalizing aroma of spices and exotic flavors. The food was a delightful explosion of taste, with each dish being perfectly balanced and full of authentic Indian flavors. The chicken tikka masala was rich and creamy, the naan bread was soft and fluffy, and the samosas were crispy and flavorful. The service was prompt, and the portions were generous. We've just discovered this gem and after two visits will be back. The food is excellent and well presented, my fish starter looked good enough to serve in a French bistro. They also serve things which I have not seen in a Bangladeshi/ Indian restaurant before such as the duck which was very tender, and the lamb shank is cooked to perfection.

Decided I fancied an indian tonight, however have a few dietary requirements so messaged on facebook to ask if if they could meet the requirements. I received a message asking me to give them a call. When I rang a lovely, helpful man assured me that they could meet the requirements and that if I rang and ordered they would make my food as soon as I rang and would deliver with first priority. The food arrived, tikka masala, cheese naan, rice and a duck jalfrezi. It certainly didn't disappoint. Still red hot upon arrival and incredibly tasty! Overall fantastic customer service, and great quality food!

Favourite place to eat in darlington, and easily the best Indian restaurant in the town

If you like Indian food you are spoilt for choice in Darlington with so many good restaurants, however last weekend we went to Arvelli on North Rd, 5 minutes walk max from the town centre. We were shown to our table by a very polite young lady, drinks were ordered and delivered very quickly. We had samosa starters (complimentary poppadoms and pickles) for mains we had Lamb dupiaza and Aloo Gobi (potato and cauliflower curry) I think! Garlic Naan and boiled rice. It was all beautiful the lamb melted in your mouth. We had a good chat with the manager a very nice young man, please try Arvelli you won't be disappointed! It's the same building as The Shapla used to be and well worth the 5 minute walk.

When you see all 5 star reviews you are bit unsure if they are genuine. I went, and it really lived up to 5 stars, the service and food top quality, could not fault it at all. Will be back and certainly recommend to anybody.

First time here and would definitely return. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was great. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was faultless.

Going out for the evening with my family was a wonderful experience. We reserved a table for ten people, and both the food and the service provided by the employees were excellent. I placed a few drink orders, and the cocktails were excellent.

Arvelli. Wow 👏. Top notch food every time iv been here. Been here 5-6 times now and iv never had a bad meal once. Shally Lamb is unbelievable and so are the spicy chips. So is everything else if I'm totally honest, ha. The staff go above and beyond every time and nothing is too much trouble. Really lovely people. Everything is fresh and really tasty. And plenty of selection on the menu. 10/10 from me. Best Indian restaurant iv ever been to and always enjoy going, and leave very satisfied whenever iv been. What a brilliant find after a quick Google Maps search! The staff were very welcoming and good throughout, even had a nice chat with the owner and other members of staff and shared recommendations of where to eat in other cities. The food came out quickly and it was delicious.... Lots of flavour and spice and well presented. We both enjoyed our food and came out stuffed. Probably the best curry my wife and I have had in a very long time. This is not an accolade I give out lightly. The staff curry was exceptional as was the not on the menu Keema. The pickle tray is on another level to the medioca stuff that Richmond curry houses have to offer. Staff very friendly and helpful and took things to explain the menu. Well done Arvelli
