Babas Indian Takeaway in Plymouth

The food was really delicious. It didn’t only satisfied my belly but also I feels that I was eating my mothers handmade curry and bread. Especially the bread was soo soft. Thank you bread chef🤗🤗

Shite! Food never came after over 2 hours and nobody answered the phone

Placed an order at 7pm which should have been delivered at 8.20pm.. no show, tried calling but the phone is just ringing.. meal is all paid for but no idea where it is, awful service, such a shame as it was a decent takeaway for years, this is the first time in a while I’ve ordered, never again!!!

Food was Bland, and they don't even provide VAT receipt.

They care more about online orders than people at counter was only 1 in shop took 15 to be served and 20 min to get an easy order. 1 donner . This was all bundled into a box and I had to make it myself when I got home. Wont be going back . It's cash only but who carrys cash these days

I would have given it a 5 star but after tonight's food I rate it a 1 star I ordered a mild korma and it came very spicy and really hurt my stomach as I can't have spicy foods so I always go for mild , this was definitely not mild , never ordering again

Avoid! Terrible experience. I waited for over an hour and a half for my delivery to arrive. I called three times to find out where my food was. They refused to contact the driver, saying he’d be there soon. As I write this, I still haven’t found out where my food is! Had to make other arrangements for dinner. Would not recommend using this restaurant at all.

Very nice staff (Debbie) the other young lady very polite food very good used to order over the phone but in person more fun but only issue CASH only no card machine! awkward

Last night we ordered chicken biryani but it was just like boiled rice . There was no spice,salt no herbs at all. We got just a rice with red food colour.Also, my food was delivered 45 mins late.Never going to order from this place again .

Ordered takeaway, arrived on time, hot and was really tasty

Food great .Place could do with abit more light .looks dark and dank . Delivery drivers seem to over welm the place .parked in very small lane out side .inside they seem to block part of counter area. Also incorporated to the cooking area Don't look good .when your waiting for your food Needs.to be addressed.

Took almost 2 hours, some of the food was incorrect and wasn’t very hot. First time ordering and don’t think I’ll be ordering again.

I have never had such a bad experience with any other takeaway before in my life not only is the food never hot nor cooked properly but you get verbal abuse from the delivery drivers too absolutely disgusting behaviour to be sworn at by a company is diabolical your a company trying to grow by drowning yourself in hate

I'm extremely disappointed with the food I've revieved, it was cold like its just come out of the freezer, the portion was more like a ready meal.. the female delivery driver was extremely rude last night and shouting abuse at us in front of her young daughter.. if you want to grow your buisness some more then maybe change the staff and the drivers and maybe the cooks then you might get better reviews! How ever though everyone if you fancying a cheap Chinese or Indian then please go to asda for it as its really nice! 🤣

Curry night food arrived fast and was good

First of all, the delivery was late almost 2 hrs. And the restaurant staff was not attending the phone properly. And the final part is the worst food i have ever tasted in my life. The restaurant name is 'Babas Indian takeaway, but they don't even know where's india😀. I don't know why these people having this business and I'm sure there will be no Indian's coming. So I'm recommending to all, don't even think about a trial please...

I would echo some of the comments here about delivery taking longer than the estimated time, but when it arrived it was the tastiest Indian takeaway I've had in Plymouth so well worth the wait!

The food was nearly 2 hours early and when I rang up to speak about the order the customer service was disgusting so so so rude!!! The time I got home from work the food was freezing cold and had to reheat my takeaway which was an absolute joke considering I ordered it to arrive at a certain time. Poor service rude people on the phone. Never ordering again.

If I could give under 1 star I would. The food arrived very late, with no apologies. We dished the food up and on the first mouthful the food was stone cold. I instantly called back, to be told as I had dished it up they would not replace or take back, I should of left it in the containers. I tried to explain that I am not in the habit of eating from containers and usually like to eat off a plate. They refused and said I could haveca discount next time, believe me there will never be another time, and I can only assume they want it left in the containers so they can give to the next unassuming customer, once they can take it back and heat it up !! For another trip out. What an incredibly rude, arrogant person who will quite happily take cash on rhe doorstep ( without offering a receipt may, I add)!!! And slam the phone down. Hopefully you have a good microwave for your meal up.

I regret to share my deeply disappointing experience with this takeaway curry. The mere act of ordering turned into a test of patience as the food arrived a staggering 2.5 hours late. This delay would have been somewhat manageable had it not been for the shockingly rude customer service that accompanied it. The sheer lack of professionalism exhibited by the staff was astounding. Their tone was dismissive and unapologetic, as if my time and satisfaction held no value. The curry, when it finally arrived, was not only cold but also seemed to have lost any semblance of flavor during its extended journey. It was a culinary disappointment that could not be masked by the inadequate reheating I attempted. To summarise, the abysmal punctuality and woefully inadequate customer service overshadowed any potential merits of the food. I am left feeling utterly unsatisfied and bewildered by the disregard shown for basic customer expectations. I would strongly caution anyone considering this establishment to think twice before subjecting themselves to such a regrettable experience.

Delivery time was quick, food was delicious 😋 and on time. Reasonably priced and would certainly order again. I was skeptical at first as the Google reviews appear to suggest that it wouldn't be great. Certainly a 4.6 out of 5 for me , will definitely order again

Food quantity is big enough. But unfortunately, chicken Tikka and lamb korma was very sweet like a desert. Both taste the same only the colour was different. When I contacted the restaurant they just argue for nothing not all valuing customer feedback. Very disappointed with the food and the customer care.

Best takeaway I've had - Huge portion, delicious food, came with chips I didn't even order (hope they weren't meant for someone else!) I'm full and happy! :)

Do not use. Will never use again. Food delivered was inedible, not interested in helping just told they were too busy and it was my problem. Food arrived after 1 hr 45 mins after 2 phone calls. I phoned up after 1 hour to get an update and was advised the food was out for delivery. 45 mins later the delivery turned up stone cold. The food was delivered by a kid who just gave me the bag and ran off. No opportunity to check the food. As soon as I got it in I checked it and all the dishes were cold, the chips and breads felt soggy and stale! I called up straight away to let them know only to be told I was wrong because their food bags keep stuff hot for 3 hours!!! Asked for a refund but was told they can’t do refunds and will give discount off the next order, not gonna happen! I then insisted I wanted the driver to come back and take the food away and get a refund, they weren’t able to do a refund before 10:30 because the machine doesn’t have enough credit on it, I wasn’t born yesterday! After being hung up on twice I finally spoke to someone else who again basically told me I was lying….he eventually offered a 20% discount which is shocking considering the food was genuinely inedible and went in the bin. Have been using babas for years but now they just don’t seem to care, lie to customers and don’t seem to care about their food, such a shame!

Butter chicken and chicken Masala were incredibly sweet felt like I was eating cereal from how sweet it was. The bread quality wasn’t up there (thick)

Excellent food quality and price

Lovely meal, mixed kebab starter, chicken tikka masala for main. Large pieces of chicken cooked to perfection! Arrived nice and hot. Delivery bloke is really nice and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Never again .never again .just never again

We all really enjoyed our meal. It arrived on time. The driver was cheerful and friendly. The food was piping hot and delicious. Good portion sizes. They serve proper paneer (I’ve literally has grated cheddar in Saag paneer from some Indian takeaways in Plymouth) and offer it with the sauce of your choice, which as a vegetarian is my best case scenario. No free popadoms, but we got 20% off on a Tuesday with Just Eat, so it was excellent value.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Waited 2 hours for delivery and then had to go and get it myself. Then cap it off they wouldn’t refund the delivery charge. Do not use for delivery.

We ordered from Babas for the first time tonight. The delivery was quick and the food was fresh and piping hot. We ordered four different curries and they were all super tasty. The quality of the chicken was great, really succulent. The moglai was particularly tasty. Very happy customer and I’d definitely recommend.

I wouldn't give this place 1 star rite now absaloutly shocking being going to these for 30 yrs ordering for 4 at 60.00 a throw ruined new yes Eve with an order that was ordered at 7.30 turned up 8.45 except that but a stone cold order with black silver containers with stuff missing then rung them excepted what they said then was dishing up to find of the order was missing to ring again to be told I'm a liar after they admitted why pots were bla CK some off the order was missing to find more missing then was told can't do nothing about it as was now shut at 9 pm and basically to heat the food up in the microwave disgusting

Delivery extremely slow/non existent! Ordered at 6.09 via Uber eats. Delivery estimated as 7.15. Called at 7.45 to be told it's out with the driver. Call again at about 8.30 and still out with the driver. Call at 9.10 for them to say it is here we are waiting for a driver. We tell them we collect and when we arrive it's now gone out with a driver. Currently sat here 3 and half hours after ordering and still waiting for food. Should not accept online orders if they cannot cope with the amount they receive! First and last time I will be ordering from here!

Lovely food here. Always consistent and polite.

Ordered a meal for collection and waited over 30 mins after the expected time they promised. Once home, we found items missing and not as we had ordered. Staff need to take more responsibility in ensuring they meet thier deadlines and check food before handing over to customers. Disappointing experience and won't be going back.

I have been using Babas for years. Have never had a bad meal, well priced good size portions, got to be one of the best Indian takeaways around

Delivery SO SLOW. Quickest was 1 hour, slowest 2 hours and they never apologetic. If you want average food cold and late, this is your place of choice
