A great menu and good service from the staff. Primarily a restaurant if you are staying in the Hotel but could be good even if you are not staying. Expensive, as it is a hotel, but would recommend.

I couldn’t fault the restaurant itself however I arranged a valentines date at the crowne plaza B 1 restaurant. Both my date and myself arrived at the front of house and asked where the B1 Restaurant was located . My date was told it was the other side of town so got a taxi to said destination. Which meant she was not there when I arrived . When I asked, I was met with sorry I don’t know . Lucky I use my eyesight and noticed the restaurant sign . I then called my partner and told her where I was she return to the very place she Initially arrived at the upshot of this was we had only hour and a half with each other and only one of us eating. I am astonished the staff in the hotel do not know the name and location of their own restaurant. I travelled quite far for the evening only for it to be cut short .

This has to be the worst experience I have had through OpenTable. Firstly, at no point in the booking was the actual location of this restaurant revealed. It is the dining room of the Crowne Plaza hotel! The address on the app does not say this, and had it been made clear, we would not have booked it. I am sure this is deliberate. If you wish to eat a one star dinner at four star dinner prices whilst surrounded by tables made up for breakfast then this is the place for you. The ambience was non existent, the service slack and badly trained. The food was not good. Steaks were tough and over cooked. Desserts were poor. The overall experience was really bad. However, the prices were premium and there is absolutely no justification for this. To make matters worse, a service charge was automatically added to the bill for four. It is just not acceptable that this kind of entitled behaviour continues. The overall experience was that we felt tricked into the booking and had we been earlier, we would have left before ordering.

Our family stayed at the Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre for several nights and decided to try their restaurant on one of those evenings. The food was surprisingly really good. Since we were staying at the property and had two young children with us, their meal was complimentary including their dessert. Service was standard and a bit slow - our server wore a "In Training" tag so she was obviously new but she tried.

We went to B1 restaurant to celebrate a graduation. It was a massive disappointment. The restaurant was largely empty during our entire meal (7pm on a Saturday night) which in hindsight was an ominous sign. The menu contained numerous misspellings, another ominous sign but it was too late to change location. The food was awful. The starters of fishcakes and goats cheese were ok. The main courses we ordered were the crispy belly pork (the crackling was more hard than crispy, and it was dry and tasteless), the confit duck (so overcooked that it was largely inedible. We couldn’t even get the meat off the bone. The spinach that came with it was bitter and the rosti soggy) and the chorizo risotto (one dimensional with an overwhelming taste of Sainsbury’s basics chorizo). The desserts were forgettable as well. I would not recommend this restaurant.

I had two rooms booked but ended up staying for one as I refuse to tolerate the attitude and arrogance of the staff. One in particular approaches me at the bar by saying "what do you want" my reply was "I beg you pardon" she then rolled her eyes and moved onto the next person. To my surprise, upon leaving the bar I notice the young lady tucked away In small room built on the bar in deep discussion with a college, her exact words " I effing hate these stupid customer!!!" That was it for me. The next day I up and left never to return again. I did not even bother reporting it as everybody seemed too busy to attend to me. All i remeber about this obnoxious young lady was that she was tall foreign lady with curly hair. If you ask me she needs a new profession because her behavior in a 4* hotel was unacceptable. Deffinetly lost me as a business customer.

We are staying at the Crowne Plaza for the weekend and arrived latish on Friday night so decided to get something to eat in their restaurant rather than go out. It was unexpectedly good. I couldn't find a menu online anywhere before we arrived so was blind as to what the menu might be but there was a good selection of food to choose from and it was delicious and well cooked. I only wish we had arrived earlier I would have had a starter too.

Must say I enjoyed the breakfast here! The buffet had a large variety including cold cuts, smoked salmon, fruits, yogurts. There were also a number of hot buffet itsems as well, including eggs, bacon, sausages etc. They also do other hot dishes made to order, e.g. French toast, pancakes etc and these are all part of the buffet. Very enjoyable. Must also add that their coffee is one of the best cups I have ever tasted in Birmingham!

B1 in Birmingham, the food was excellent and topped off a great special occassion for us. However, the ambience is a bit of a let down as you may have a view from the restaurant out into a stark and sterile hotel lobby - a bit of screening or extra thought is all it would take to rectify that point to improve the atmosphere.

B1, Central Square, Birmingham We liked: the soup and steaks & sea bass; well flavoured and cooked; not so happy with: the ambience (none), the waitress who was civil but with no smiles or pleasantries; the replacement wine; the location; the fact that the waiting staff started clearing the (unused) tables behind us early on so that this, combined with the almost empty dining room, made us feel like we we should hurry up and get out. Wouldn't go back. Shame as the food is good.
