A bit bizarre, like sitting at a bus stop, but without the glamour. The food took quite a long time to come, and it was not bad. The staff were friendly enough, but spent most of the time shouting down the phone or at each other from about 1 a metre away. Some of the lights didn't work, or they couldn't work out how to switch them on. Buses at the stop outside blocked out the sun like an eclipse. When we wanted to pay, the only staff member had left, so we were all on our own, with the baffling lights and the underground rumble from the tube. A little odd.

Aya Lebanese Cuisine is a delightful taste of home for me as a Lebanese and I believe that anyone who’s looking to try real authentic Lebanese food must visit Aya. Their shish tawouk, warak enab, cheese rekakat, hummus, and fatoush are all absolute must-tries. Don’t forget to ask for that chilli sauce on the side! Many more choices for both vegetarians and meat lovers for very reasonable prices. The flavours are authentic and the ambiance is extremely cozy. Highly recommended for a taste of Lebanon in every bite! NB: the owners are extremely friendly & generous. They are always around to chat and receive feedback!

As far as Lebanese food goes the food is decent. It's a good pick if you are local but there are some better choices in Tooting if your looking for Lebanese. I would definitely recommend the lamb shank which is perfectly cooked while other meats are perfectly fine. Not a judge fan of the calamari which was overcooked an bit on the chewy side.

Poor service, yet I was obliged to pay service charge of 10%, while it clearly says that this is optional. When I brought this matter to the attention of the manager, she admitted that it's optional, but was still implying that I have to pay for it. This is incredibly unprofessional, and I definitely wouldn't recommend.

This afternoon myself and wife visited AYA and for a first time visit I must say WOW what great food coupled with outstanding service, we felt spoilt for choice on the lunch menu and ended up ordering a selection of 4 different options, we had the grilled half chicken, grilled chicken wings, the white bait and fried squid, which came with chunky chips and salad, we also was given humus and pitta bread to Eat whilst we waited on our meal, the food was faultless and throughout the meal we was made to feel comfortable and well waited on, the bill cane to £35 and to be honest the meal could have easily shared between 3 people but I felt greedy lol, I think AYA will be my go to place from now on anytime I feel like a cheeky date out with the Mrs which won't break the bank and will leave me having to be rolled out the restaurant door lol. Thanks to all the staff at AYA Merton high street. *****

Having a young family means date nights are few and far between... Today we went to lunch at Aya and enjoyed every bite. The portions were plenty full and beautifully presented. Every thing was served fresh and piping hot. We had half a chicken, chicken wings, seafood, falafel, salad and a few other items. Staff are friendly and accommodating and the food is reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back soon.

DELIVEROO PATRONS BEWARE I've been an Aya customer for many years now. Normally, their food is fresh and of a good standard, but my experience today has completely changed my opinion and I will not be returning to the restaurant or placing an order for takeaway with them ever again. I placed a large order via Deliveroo that set me back around £50 as a special occasion. The order consisted of two chicken wings, two things of rice, chips, a curry, two wraps and a salad. The wraps were fine as was the salad, however the rice, curry, chips and chicken wings were not up to standard. The rice was mushy and sour, the curry had an off taste and look (it had completely separated), the chips were stale and a dark brown colour and the chicken wings were burnt horribly. Needless to say, not being able to eat multiple dishes completely ruined my dinner and to add insult to injury, I was refused a refund. Had I been issued a refund, I would have considered giving the restaurant another chance on account of my longstanding patronage. As it stands, however, I am too put off to try again.

I ordered Lamb Shish and soup via Deliveroo. The delivery time was reasonable and the soup was nice and hot. However, half the main dish was onion which I detest. Onion was not specified on the menu or I would not have ordered the dish! The food was cold and disappointing. The meat was rubbery, came in small portions and was overcooked and bland. The highlight of the meal was the sauce. I would have thought the restaurant would put care in to their work to keep their 4 star google rating but they have clearly become complacent. The bread and rice were cold as was the meat and the delivery was only from down the road so there was no excuse. They have just lost a customer and will lose more if the bad service continues. I complained to Deliveroo and was credited £10. I had spent £20 for what feels like one piece of lamb. Deliveroo did not follow up with the restaurant. It's not just about money. I wanted an apology from the restaurant . Most of the food has gone in the bin.

Only odd ball thing on appetizer menu that didn't fit in was the Greek meatballs, other than that it was a cool Asian Fusion menu. The Goyza was steamed-pan seared and very tasty. The Meatballs were odd-ball but just the same very tasty and would order again, the yogurt sauce made the dish. I opted for the Bulgogi Tacos that were very awesome, but messy to eat. We visited the Aya with friends who recommended it for good Lebanese food and we were not disappointed. Alcohol is not served but you can take your own which we did and in truth this ensures you enjoy the wine and saves much on the final bill. We were shown to a good table which had been reserved for us and given menus by a very polite and helpful waitress. There were plenty of wine glasses provided for our needs and the menu was very comprehensive and inviting. With the help of our hosts we ordered a mountain of food, or it seemed to me, but so tasty was it that we managed to pretty much hoover our way through all of it. No single dish was disappointing and many were excellent. At £20 a head the final bill was very reasonable for quality and volume of all the food we have eaten. It was a most enjoyable night out and we would certainly visit again when in Wimbledon.

Appetizing aromas hit one on entering this cosy, well-designed and friendly restaurant. The tasteful decor (beautiful woodwork, handmade in Syria, adorn the ceilings, walls..) gives the feel of being in a middle eastern restaurant. Arabic music in the background further adds to the ambience. However, as the restaurant filled up, the chatter and the music did not go too well... The unisex bathrooms are clean and spacious. I booked Aya for my daughter's 21st, and I was not disappointed. There was a large crowd, about 35; we were given a private area at the back of the restaurant. The manager and staff were attentive and helpful and friendly - but not too fussy or interfering. The food was delicious, especially the grilled meats. The restaurant does not serve alcohol, and does not charge corkage when you bring your own (but staff helped with sorting and serving all the drinks nonetheless) - which made the whole evening much more economical. All in all, everyone had a lovely time, and several of the guests said it was one of the nicest evenings they remembered. The cost was fair for the numbers involved, and there were no hidden extras or surprises in the bill. Overall, we were very pleased with the whole experience, and would recommend Aya to anyone in SW London planning a similar event.

We were asked to pay a deposit which we paid, after finalising our numbers, for 27 people a few weeks beforehand. 25 of us (two people couldn't make it in the end)arrived at the restaurant really looking forward to a real 'Lebanese' food experience. Nice restaurant with great ambience. We got seated and told the waitress we were ready to order. Then the bad experience started. She said you booked for 35 - we said yes but we finalised our numbers a few weeks ago and paid deposits for 27 however we quickly realised from her attitude that there was a problem - she then got the manager over who was extremely rude and insistent that he had finalised our numbers today on the phone with us for 35. We said no, you must have misunderstood as there are only 25 of us and we had finalised today as 25 and paid deposits for 27 perhaps he had misheard the number? No he was insistent that we had finalised 35 on the phone today. This clearly was untrue as we had only collected money from 25 although we had paid deposit for 27 so why would we say 35? Not a good start to our evening and everyone was now feeling uncomfortable - very bad customer service..... He then tried to get us to pay for 30 as he said he had turned other bookings away. After a totally embarrassing 10 minutes of arguing (I won't go into more detail as it would take too long) and us threatening to go elsewhere he backed down and agreed to serve us for 25 covers. Then the food arrived..... Now we were still looking forward to the food but it was very disappointing - nice chicken thighs but nothing special, calamari was like inedible rubber bands and the rest of the starters were more like a poor imitation of picnic food from marks and Spencer's e.g. falafel balls etc all dry and bland. The main course was not much better - grilled chicken was nice, but lamb was greasy and flavourless and no sauces except for an extremely disgusting small hot dipping sauce - all served with dry rice and oven chips! Not what I thought Lebanese food would be like at at all! The set menu stated coffee and dessert included but, after a long wait we had to ask and all we got was black coffee and a few tiny 'bacclava' type pastries and I mean tiny! Had to ask for milk and sugar. All served grudgingly. Manager apologised at the end of the evening but frankly the whole experience was unpleasant and for £27.50 per head not worth it. The general consensus from 25 of us was - out of ten it was rated as 3 - 6 for the food (the one 6 was for portion size from the only male!) and zero for the customer service. A real shame. I have never posted a review before but I am so disappointed that I feel I have to say to others - read the other reviews for party bookings on this site and beware!

Aya's restaurant is Wimbledon's hidden treasure. Our large group was well accommodated and we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. The staff were always to hand and service was impeccable. The ambience is so authentic, you don't feel you are in the heart of London. The food is amazing and of great value. If you haven't already been to Aya's, you are missing out. 10 out of 10 all round.

It's not often I come to write reviews on TA but then again if I did I would be on here nearly every day, but this is an exception as we were a party of 28 hungry people so any restaurant who is good with group bookings is worth a good review in my opinion.

First time at this restaurant although my friend lives locally and has been customer in the past. Arrived and seated at a very cramped table for two - behind my chair was a step meaning that I couldn't move my chair back to give us extra room and right behind my friend's chair was another couple eating. I mean these two chairs were literally touching back to back.

We have seen this restaurant advertised in our local free paper on a number or occasions and have meant to visit for a while. I noticed varied reviews on trip advisor and wondered why, as the local paper had recommended it. The restaurant certainly had a nice vibe when we entered and the staff were helpful if a little laid back. Personally I don't really mind if the waiters are not that attentive as I can always call them or get up to seek them out but I can understand that others might not like to do that so I can understand some of the negative comments about the staff. We selected the vegetarian platter which was just over £30 for two plus extra for drinks which seemed quite reasonable. It seemed about the same price as other Lebanese restaurants I have eaten in. The various mezze dishes looked good and tasted OK - in fact there was sufficient with just those and my wife forgot there was a main to come and was full after the mezzes. The main was also fine but by then I was starting to feel a bit dehydrated. I have a real problem when too much salt is put onto food and I think they must have emptied the salt cellar on mine. I had drunk a large bottle of mineral water with my meal but was starting to feel unwell when we left. When I arrived home (about 20 minutes away) I had two large mugs of tea and a large glass of juice and still felt dehydrated. I slept badly, felt unwell and dehydrated during the night and drank excessively the next day. I have given an average rating as I thought the restaurant was OK, the staff were OK and the food (apart from the salt) was OK. Maybe it was just me and others like lots of salt on food - this is a problem for me in about one out of ten restaurants I eat in and was definitely a real problem at the Aya Express.

Comida muy sabrosa, grandes porciones, personal amable, súper limpio y una gran relación calidad-precio. No estamos en la zona todo el tiempo, pero sin duda volveremos cuando estemos aquí - no hay necesidad de buscar en ningún otro lugar.

We eat at Cedar once a month or so, I’ve never had a bad experience. Family run, everyone is welcoming and lovely, the food is fantastic - fresh, authentic, lovely flavour, keeps the Lebanese classics with some British twists.

I highly recommend this restaurant. It’s the best Turkish food I’ve ever had, and the staff is very friendly. Definitely worth a visit!
