Avo Cafe Bar in Carmarthenshire

Had a two course lunch consisting of burger, chips slaw and Jam sponge with custard. The burger was OK but could have been a bit hotter. The jam sponge was quite dry and nothing special. Despite these criticism the burger tasted very good and we ate all of it. The ambience was also very good and service was quick and friendly. Would recommend.

Highly recommended cafe in Llanelli. Gorgeous home cooked food, good value for money, friendly service, look forward to my next visit. Good idea to book a table as it can be busy.

Very friendly service, nice atmosphere and very clean. I go here now and again with my boyfriend and he loved his Welsh rarebit. My only complaints are that they stopped doing the garlic mushrooms which was my absolute favourite, and that they stop doing food after 2. Not had a bad meal there in all the time it’s been open! Love it

Called in for coffee and a turkey panini recently.. coffee lovely as usual and friendly service but very disappointed with the panini. The bread was very hard and extremely dry. Barely a scrapping of butter and cranberry. Very little turkey. The coleslaw was very runny and the side salad very poor quantity and quality. Will call again but will order something else..

Being stuck in a place like Llanelli, having somewhere like Avo to take refuge and enjoy great food and coffee in cosy surroundings is a very welcome thing! Great coffee, lovely food (homemade beef cawl a highlight!) and great friendly service. Winner!

My wife & I have always had a "Christmas Dinner" in Avo & the quality has remained constant over the years. Today was no exception. Apart from the usual meat ( there was a choice between turkey & beef) there was also an option of nutroast for the growing number of vegetarians. On the plate was, of course the meat ( or nutroast) a delightful helping of stuffing, roast potatoes, roast parsnips & mashed potatoes. On a separate tureen was an assortment of four other vegetables. Another small pot arrived with creamed leeks with a cheese topping - absolutely to die for. Unfortunately, because of the current restrictions, no alcohol could be served but the owners. Alana & Aaron had thought of this & we, among quite a few others, had some non- alcoholic wine. All in all, the whole meal could not be faulted in any way. If you get the opportunity next year & Alana is doing this meal again & you're in the vicinity, I strongly advise you to book this meal.

Had a quick lunch today with my sister making the most of the 50% off scheme and again I am not disappointed. Had the tastiest chicken quesadilla and coffee. All food is homemade, delicious and reasonably priced. Amazing service with friendly faces who can’t do enough. Huge portions but couldn’t say no to taking home a piece of homemade Carrot cake.. Cannot recommend enough - a must visit when in town for sure!

We have been having the beef and veggie dinners for the past month and they are outstanding. The food is always amazing and the portion sizes are fab. We look forward to a Wednesday just for your food. Cant forget your puddings aswel they are the best. Your doing a fab job and thank you so much.

Cute little cafe with decently priced coffee, comfortable seats and kind staff. My only query is that I am not sure how disabled friendly it is.

We went to Avo for lunch before going to the cinema as we had seen good reviews on Tripadvisor. The cafe is spacious and comfortable both for a main meal, a snack or a cuppa and cake as there are both sofas and dining tables. Service was pleasant and efficient and the prices very reasonable. There was a good choice menu. We chose the full breakfast and enjoyed it. Very generous portions.We hope to return when in Llanelli.

Second visit and hugely impressed with menu and service. Table booked for 1pm today 06/11/19 without any issues. Food is quality, asked for a strong cup of tea and that’s what I had(2 tea bags). Used to go to Llanelli House but standards have slipped somewhat!

Returned here after being disappointed that food wasn’t available last time. Glad to say food was being served this visit . I had a bbq panini it was tasty and the chicken was nice and tender . Staff were pleasant and friendly . Based on this lunch I would return .

We visited today for the first time and were impressed. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was good and reasonably priced. I was a little disappointed that the dessert menu was limited and the cake options were extremely plain: bara brith, Welsh cakes or scones plus bought in custard slices. I’d have loved a slice of homemade sponge with buttercream. Other than that we were satisfied and will return.

We have been visiting Avo’s regularly for lunch for a number of years but I’m ashamed to say I have never taken the time to review it. I work in Llanelli and come for lunch with colleagues when time permits. This is a wonderful place, the owners and staff are welcoming and always pleasant, the food is freshly cooked, homemade and to a high standard. The menu is varied and the addition of specials gives extra choice. Their cawl has to be the best around! Prices are reasonable and definitely value for money. We’ll be back again on Wednesday as it’s a colleagues birthday!

This lovely family run business has been in Llanelli for many yrs and is always busy. As yet, whether a coffee and a bite or a meal I have never been disappointed. Would certainly recommend.

With regards to the comment below i attended the cafe the same time there was no chalk board on the door saying that food wasn't being made in that case we never would have gone in cause we were going for lunch we decided to stay for a latte which tbh was not very warm and didn't even taste like coffee in my personal opinion if you are a business you should not run out of food and not be able to offer anything to customers staff were not exactly welcoming and there was no atmosphere more than likely will not be coming back unfortunately

Came today for lunch after reading such good reviews , started disappointed as we were told that there was no food being made so just coffee and cakes were available . I thought they would keep serving till closing as it says closing is 5pm and we arrived at 2.30 . The lattes were nice but could do with being warmer , the chai tea latte wasn’t a chai tea latte to me , it didn’t taste anything like it should . Shame we didn’t get a lunch as I loved the decor and it was very comfy but there wasn’t an atmosphere at all and the staff weren’t really bothered . Will return as maybe this was an off day . Hopefully next time there will be food available .

Avo is one absolutely stunning cafe. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. The coffee is five star and can highly recommend cheese on toast it’s the best in town. Also the have some stunning homemade cakes the scones are stunning. Really can’t rate Avo highly enough on Wednesday the do roast dinners the food is all homemade and very very delicious.

My husband and I eat here whenever we are in Llanelli, the food is always good, our favorite is their Garlic Mushrooms with Ciabatta bread - it is superb!

First visit to Llanelli, and to Avo Café Bar. Warm welcome and friendly helpful staff. Only had time for a snack, but would return for lunch as you can also have a glass of wine. Bacon/sausage bap and tea. Beans on toast and Americano. Asked if I wanted a mild/normal or strong coffee. Coffee hot and side milk hot - tasted delicious! Sausage and bacon good quality. Bread which tasted of bread! Good food experience.

This is an independent café who are definitely getting it right.

Nice vibe. Friendly staff. I had a chilli wrap with a full side salad and coleslaw, really tasty. My wife had 2 poached eggs on a muffin with mushrooms and hollandaise sauce, she enjoyed it a lot. Nice pot of tea. Worth a visit.

I regularly visit this Cafe and always receive great service and exceptional food. The service is very efficient and we are never left waiting long! The Coffee is also lovely. We have been for breakfast and lunch on numerous occasions and it is always our first choice. The value for money is excellent and we are always surprised how cheap our bill is when we go to pay. We just wish it could be open for evening meals too!

This is a delightful and locally owned coffee bar which serves excellent coffee, food and scrumptiou cakes. The owner and staff are very welcoming.

Acompañando la ensalada y patatas fritas de panini era o col. No soy un fan de patatas fritas, así que siempre pide la ensalada y col. En un fiverish, es una buena oferta y elección de tamaño de café, que la comida venga a más de £7. Muy agradable que no escatiman panini en el pesto (como el café en Aberglasney. . Caro y sosa). El café era uno de los mejores que he probado y estaba caliente. (No soporto caliente. Café. . me recuerda a estar en el trabajo. Cuando se estaba siempre fría por el tiempo que me las arreglé para beber! ). Agradable poder leer un periódico local y fácil acceso al centro de Llanelli no te saldría. De haber estado aquí hace algunos años y ha impresionado nos sorprendió ver cuánto este lugar se ha deteriorado. Pedimos patatas chaqueta en 1. 30 y me dijeron que estaban completos. ! ! ! . La comida que tomamos en su lugar era preciosa, pero la jarra de leche eran teteras y descascarillados. Nos sorprendió ver bollos y tarta de muestra al descubierto en el mostrador donde podrían fácilmente ser estornudó o tocado. El bebé cambia en los baños de la colchoneta estaban muy sucias y parecía que nunca son destruidos, el espejo estaba roto y la discapacidad manijas estaban muy oxidadas. La comida era buena, y tenían una clasificación de 5 estrellas de higiene de los alimentos. ! ! ! A menudo, nos preguntamos cómo estos son evaluados. Nosotros no vamos a allí de nuevo.

This cafe is very nice with a great selection of tasty meals and snacks! A variety of food from Sadwiches wraps Panini Jacket Potatoes! Very nice coffee with a tiny choc chip cookie!

Went here for breakfast with my Sister and two friends.Two of us had full English breakfasts, my Sister had an egg n bacon sandwich and my other friend had the porridge.They were all brought to the table within minutes of each other despite the cafe being very busy.My only downside of my breakfast experience was with regards to the coffee. Whilst I have to say the cappuccino coffee was lovely - well it must have been because whilst I was there I had three.And the bill for my coffees alone came to over six pounds - other places offer free top-ups or second cups for half the price.This is the only reason I find myself unable to give five stars.The place and the staff are very pleasant well presented and overall service very good. I will definitely be going back but drinking less coffee that's for sure - my purse can't take it!

Visited again today while back in Llanelli. Great little cafe, with lots to recommend, great service, great food, good ambience, an air of gentility, very warm cozy and welcoming, BUT!!! Everyone I know who likes the place raves about the smoked mackerel pate. Second visit, still none available. I'm sure they do it just to annoy me.

I'm a regular at this cafe for a simple reason.... It's the best coffee in Llanelli! I often meet clients here and it's great to support a small business in the area. Especially when the serve such great food and drinks.

Lovely family run cafe. Introduced to this little find by my cousin when I moved back to the area. The breakfast menu has plenty to choose from but I always order the same - scrambled eggs on toast followed by either home made apple pie or a cream tea. I cannot fault the service, even when it's really busy. Also had lunch in there and the choice on the menu is great. Jacket potatoes are big with plenty of filling and the ciabattas are lovely!Highly recommend.

We went here for lunch after seeing star ratings on here.I had tuna, mayo, onion filled jacket with side salad and it was very fresh and well presented i ordered a side of coleslaw but it was such a small portion for the cost of £1.25 I would definitely not recommend and the side salad was very also very small the jacket was a good size and plenty of filling too.Hubby had the chicken curry half and half and was served with nan bread which he said was very tasty and portion was goodStaff were friendly nice clean place with nice atmosphere.

I visited with my daughter, son in law and two grandsons for the Christmas lunch menu. Very tasty turkey dinner with all the trimmings. A relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. We visit often but this was the first time we had the Christmas lunch. I would highly recommend a visit.

Cant recommend this place enough, the coffe is goergous and the homemade cakes are delicious, plus the prices are very very reasonable!! But not only that the staff are very friendly and welcoming :-) only thing that I think is missing in my opinion tho is a sort of 'warmth' deco feel inside, but certainly doesnt mean that this place should be given any less praise!

An excellent little cafe with very good food and splendid coffee. Always a friendly welcome and very reasonable prices, We visit weekly with our infant granddaughter and they are always prepared to provide a varied childrens menu. Service is cheerful and prompt. Tables can be cramped at times but the food more than makes up for this.

llanelli is a very nice to place to visit with plenty to do walking or by car.the Thomas arms hotel is very nice and comfortable,the food is good,the staff very helpful.

Popped in for tea with a friend for a catch up, I was so surprised at how nice it was, comfortable and friendly, a real treat. The barista was brilliant, the cakes looked divine and couldn't help but get a slice of the strawberry and cream sponge! - divine! And the tea came with a tiny mini dodger which was quite quirky and pleased our simple minds :) Only fault I could find if I really wanted to be picky was to have a pot of tea for 2 rather than 2 individual pots, you know just to save on the table getting cluttered. Will definitely be returning

Called here earlier in the year on a very wet and windy Saturday to get off my bike and out of the elements. The only way to explain it was as a wonderful surprise. The young male who served me was obviously a great asset to the business. He was very pleasant and happy to help! The coffee was outstanding and the huge slab of cake made cycling home much easier. It's great location and wonderful vibe make this a must while in the town.

Nice and early, before the mad run around the town, we needed a bite to eat. Stepping through the door, it all felt welcoming, everything was clean, and the staff were happy to be there. We could also agree that the food was delicious, with plenty of choice and availability, and that the drinks were just as good. This is why we give a 5! Excellent

I had heard great reviews regarding this cafe so thought i'd give it a try. Was very busy but was seated straight away. Waitress took my order and food quickly followed. For a lunchtime meal it was lovely. Plenty of seating but not spacious, which felt a little crammed. Would recommend a visit.

Avo is a very clean and very airy cafe.its family ran and there is always a warm welcome all the food is superb the homemade cakes are cakes Mary Berry would be proud of . the homemade scones are the best every the coffee is also top notch.

If you want a good , home cooked breakfast, lunch or cream tea and home made cakes, this is the place to visit. Run by a young couple who have created a wonderfully friendly and welcoming atmosphere, Avo's is popular with both older and younger clientele and has the capacity to cater for people with wheel chairs and mums with pushchairs. Regulars visit Avo for the home baked scones and cakes and the homemade cawl served with bread and cheese and most are on first name terms with the owners. I defy anyone to go in grumpy and not come out happy, such is the quality of produce on offer, the service and the comforting atmosphere!

Another regular little stop for me as its local. Great food and plenty of it. The cream teas are the best, warm home made scones with cream and jam. Lovely home made cakes too. Plenty of choice on menu for meals. Lovely people. 5 stars from me!

Had to go to Llanelli this morning for a business meeting and had to walk past this cafe. It looked bright and welcoming from the outside and I made a mental note to call in for coffee on my way back. I was not disappointed. At 11 am on a dull, grey January morning the cafe was busy and there was a genuine buzz about the place. The young woman who took my order greeted me with a friendly 'happy new year'. I only had time for coffee this morning but I noted the home-made specials board and intend to return with a couple of friends to sample the food. Nice to go somewhere where the staff are genuinely friendly and pleased to serve you.

Tucked away in 'no mans land' between the Town Centre and Eastgate this cafe has a reasonable menu, lovely coffee and fresh baked gluten free cakes; not the pre-wrapped cardboard tasting variety you find in most cafes. Worth a visit.

First time to co e here today and as I had a day off work me and my husband came for lunch. Nice place, very busy and a little cramped but the food was nice and the staff were polite.

I am a fairly regular customer to this cafe. It has an extensive menu and the food is always prepared to a high standard. Staff come to take drinks order before food which I think is nice. Staff are friendly and helpful and accomodating of young children. The only thing that can be uncomfortable is that when the door opens is can be very draughty, tends to feel like a wind tunnel. I think they would benefit from a porch.

We regularly go to Avo at lunch time and enjoy the food. The menu is not huge but they have a good Specials menu and the homemade soups are fab as are the range of cakes. It can be quite busy but we usually get seated swiftly and the food is delivered fast and fresh which is fab!They do a good Gluten free bread too :)

My husband loves the gluten free cakes, especially the chocolate brownies. It does get very busy on saturdays but it's so good it's worth the wait.

If your wandering through Llanelli and fancy a coffee and cake at a great price then come here, the cakes are made fresh most days and are simply amazing, I come here every week for a nibble on my lunch break :)

Totally love the food, the soups are super and they do a good gluten free bread and sometimes have lovely gluten free desserts. the couple who run it are friendly and the service is good and the prices fair. Def recommend.

The bara brith and coffee deal for £2 is great and the bara brith is the best I've tasted. Staff and owners are genuinely friendly, cheerful and helpful. One of my favourite places for a coffee and catch up.

Well what can i say,its a great Cafe! Food very good Coffee amazing! Staff attentive,prices as you would expect..Its close to the theatre where i was doing some work,so thought id give it a go! If you like cakes this is the place to go in Llanelli.

I've been told by several people that this is a good place to eat and I wasn't disappointed. I had the cheese and potato pie with salad and my husband had quesadilla. Both really tasty. There was a lonely final slice of victoria sponge, which was begging to be eaten! It was delicious. The coffee was so good I had 2 cups. Highly recommed you give Avo Cafe a go if you are in Llanelli.

A superb place in the heart of Llanelli, a town which has seen better days (like most of what was 'Industrial South Wales'). I have to make an annual visit to Llanelli from Aberystwyth, and the reviews of Avo tempted me there for lunch. Both times on a Monday, and both times were excellent. The service is delightful and competent, and the food is not just good value for money, but of excellent home-made quality. The seating is comfortable, and the ambience is local and friendly (and definitely Welsh! a huge plus!). The locals themselves obviously enjoy it too, as it was very busy on both occasions, and obviously a place for people to meet with friends in town.My Mam who comes along with me there for a day out was also delighted. Her omelette and chips were just perfect, she said. The coffee and cakes were superb too. I just wish I had the room to try everything on the menu, it all looked so appetizing. I will be telling all my friends about Avo cafe Bar, as many of them will be attending the National Eisteddfod in Llanelli later this year. I hope they all give you a try and drum up a good amount of business for you. You deserve it. Da iawn. Well done!

Avó Cafe is a wonderful place to eat whether for breakfast or lunch or just to catch up for coffee with friends. The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly which makes it a lovely place to eat. However, I would of liked to have seen some portuguese dishes on the menu or even portuguese cakes/pastries as that is the heritage behind the place. (Avó is granny in portuguese) but even so what they have on offer is lush. Definitely worth a visit!! 10/10.

Every time I have dined here the service has been great, the food is delicious and freshly made - real home cooking! The coffees and cakes are devine - I would love to see them open in the evenings...There's not many places left that take pride in the quality of their food..this is definitely the place :)

we went to this cafe bar for a cooked breakfast as it was recommended to us by the reception staff at our hotel. we had an excellent breakfast of egg bacon sausage mushrooms beans blacl pudding toast and a pot of tea for under £7 per person. alana and Aaron who run the place are friendly professional and it was a pleasure to be there its very popular with the locals and was busy. we went to llanelli house for a guided tour and later on we went back to avo for a late lunch and coffees . home made food soups scones welsh cakes etc we really ate too much but everything was soooooo good again lovely service and busy but we werre not rushed and i ca highly recommedn this place if you are ever in llanelli 22 MARKET STREET .

First visit to Cafe Avo but definitely not the last. Plenty of choice on menu which included light bites for under £5. Service was excellent and food was very good. Very busy for Monday lunch time which shows how popular it is. There were some delicious looking cakes which I will have to try next time!

Last week I thought that the carrot cake was perfection. This week the lemon sponge has left me almost lost for words. It was light, moist, tangy, totally delicious. The welcome was, as ever, warm and friendly. Very Llanelli! In this horrible weather thank goodness for the warmth of Avo's.

I read the reviews in Trip Advisor and, after having just come to Llanelli, I hought this would be a nice place to stay. Yet, the ambientie of this place is "cold" - more or less no colours, the service on this day was below average, I wanted to have a second pot of thea, looked to the waiter whenever he passed by, but he only looked to the other guest - possibly the ones he knew better - and forgot to serve a new costumer. This is now what I expected from the place that is ranked № 1 in Llanelli.

We've been here numerous times and the service and food is always great. It's nice to go to a cafe that offers other, delicious homemade choices than the usual jacket potato or sandwich you find in other places. The prawn and chorizo dish makes a fab lunch, and how nice to have a gluten-free pudding option of a chocolate brownie. No other cafe I know of in Llanelli offers such quality and choice - good job, guys, and see you again soon.

Every meal we have eaten in Avo's has been good. I chose quesadilla last time which was as delicious as any eaten on holiday in Mexican restaurants. The cakes are mouthwatering; the scones, fresh out of the oven, with clotted cream and jam were exquisite. Everything is done properly, there seems to be no compromising on quality. The service is just as good, always friendly and efficient. What more could one ask!

I was there when the deliver man came & I know why the coffee is so good know the only buy the best ! You won't find that coffee being sold at Starbucks , it's not cheap to buy top if the range ingredients but they do & sell their coffee at prices lower that the chains that burn the coffee and get you to pay for the privilege of standing around waiting. I saw the food come out & it looked bang on - why not put on a steak night with Celtic Pride steak ? Local beef that's absolutely brilliant ! Try Celtic Pride at a Brains pub & then try Wetherspoons - you might as well eat your daps !
