Best croissant I’ve ever had! So buttery and perfect texture. Staff here was so friendly and lovely too; they explained how the pastries are made and convinced me to try different types. They’re not cheap but totally worth it!

First, the brioche is the best I have ever tasted - anywhere - I often have to phone up and ask one to be put aside because they sell out so quickly. I would recommend the plain rather than the chocolate chip or sugar. It is true they are different to other brioches - and that is a very good thing because they are delicious. Second, the cakes beat the hell out of all other cakes in my opinion. I bought the white ‘L’Incroyable’ for 10 people for a party last month and I have never had so many people say how much they loved a cake - it’s meringue, speculoos biscuit, whipped cream coated with shaved white chocolate. Yes you can say the prices are more expensive than other patisseries in the neighbourhood but not by much & de Fred vs. Gail’s is like champagne vs fizz. When the French do things better there’s no shame admitting it. One commenter seems to be saying the staff are rude. I’ve been buying brioche here for years and never once has anyone been rude to me. But perhaps this might be accounted for by the difference between French and British (again) as the staff are… French… so perhaps aren’t into the corporate patter that the staff of Anglo-Saxon companies are drilled to repeat? Or maybe someone was having a bad day - we all do. Anyway, I’ve had horrible experiences elsewhere in the past and never once here - everyone I’ve spoken to has been kind, helpful and friendly. This place is a peach & deserves five stars if not ten. Top tip: try the ‘ephemeral mango passion’. Mwah!

I paid £2.50 for a “brioche” bun with chocolate chips. It truly tasted just like bread. I’ve had wonderful brioche bread in Paris and this was nothing that. I was very disappointed.

The pastry is nice but had an extremely rude and passive aggressive staff. Not worth the trip if the staff are that rude

Just looking for somewhere with outside tables for coffee & spotted this delightful little patisserie. Coffee was good & strong. But, the array of homemade delicacies for sale was amazing. An absolute feast for the eyes. Purchased a selection of the mini meringues to take home, which were an absolute delight.

Absolutely fantastic brioche, wonderful Pain au chocolat and incroyables were really incroyable and the Christmas cake was great. Staffs were friendly and were very helpful. Really appreciated their implementation of must wear mask policy as well. “No exceptions.” During this pandemic, Glad to experience a place that really doesn’t compromise on health of the people and quality of food as well. One of the must go pastry shops in London. Every visit is worth it. Will deffo visit this shop again on my next trip to London.

I knew the merveilleux meringue&cream cakes from previous visits in Paris. Enlightened to find one in northcote road, I went in for a try. The cakes had amazing texture, like eating a cloud, merengue disappears in the cream; you can eat it with a spoon. The croissants are the best I have eaten in London, or in my life for that matter. The moment I walked into the shop I felt I was in France. The profume of freshly baked briosches and croissants (the oven is literally behind the cashier), and the quality of pastry is just like in a real operating French bakery. Even all the ingredients are delivered from france and then made freshly in the shop, one of the staff kindly informed me. The staff was lovely and courteous. They helped me choose from the various choices they have, and explained the story about brand when I asked. Very friendly and chatty staff. Will definitely go back! If not for another brioche, croissant and cake, to just pop in to say hi to the lovely ladies working hard to create these marvellous things!

The products are remarkable and of a rare quality. I used to wish they could offer baguettes as well - simple beautiful baguettes. But after having been to the shop about 80 times, saying "hi, please, thank you, have a good day", they still treat me like utter dirt. So this is not a one-off review - its through years of customership. @Managers will you please train them??? pay them decently? stop threatening them? They look like they're absolutely miserable and want everyone to know. If you want to start the day with a smile, go elsewhere!!! plenty of choice, with very decent bakes (Oh and the staff doesnt wear masks)

We called in for a quick coffee but could not resist the pastries. My daughter loved her croissant which was light and melted in the mouth. We had The Incroyable , which is meringue, speculoos biscuit whipped cream with shaved white chocolate which was sublime and so moreish. The coffee was great but the rest of the cake selection was incredible.

I always go to the Merveilleux shop every weekend- family is fan of their pain au chocolate, croissants and brioches (plain no sugar); I also time to time buy some “merveilleux”... it is an accurate and authentic copy of what you can eat and find in Paris bakery... it reminds the very first time I tasted it in Boulogne-Billancourt... I do recommend. Thanks

I have used this cafe for many years and since the proprietor Ali left it seems to have lost it’s way as on a number of occasions they are advertising dishes on their menu which they no longer prepare or have the ingredients for, therefor they need to update the menu to reflect what is currently available. I have also noticed that the sauce bottles they use have broken lids and could potentially be unhygienic.. A tweak here and there would benefit.

Here just for drinks while we waited to check in to Premier Inn just round the corner. Service was okay and coffee okay. Seems to be a café /coffee shop to bring your gadgets and look at your screen. Depends upon your point of view whether that is good, bad or indifferent.

We've been here before, maybe a year ago and the experience was good, however on this occasion it was poor. We selected what we wanted from the website menu however when we arrived it was apparent that the website menu was out of date; some of our selections were not on the table menu. Two of our party selected Sausages and mash but there were no sausages so had to select something else. Three of us ordered fish & chips but bizarrely there was no vinegar available. It's the first establishment I've ever been to where you couldn't get vinegar with fish and chips. One of our party ordered a burger which was supposed to have two patties but was more like one and a half. He went to complain about it but nobody came back to us. When paying at the bar I mentioned the burger issue and the guy I was talking to went off to check with the server and he knocked this meal off the bill. I also pointed out that they had missed £60 worth of wine off the bill. He added it on to the bill but I didn't get any thanks for this. Wish I hadn't bothered now. I feel that the main issue however was the demeanour of the staff. Instead of "I'm awfully sorry we've ran out of vinegar" and maybe an explanation of why, it was "we haven't got any vinegar". It wasn't " I'm really sorry, we've had a run on the sausages and there aren't any left" or something like that, it was "we haven't got any sausages", It wasn't "we're really sorry the burger meal wasn't up to our usual standard" or something like that, it was "I've knocked it off the bill". It wasn't "oh, that's really good of you to let us know we'd missed the wine off the bill" or something like that. It was, well nothing really, it just got added to the bill. It was if having customers there was an inconvenience to the staff. There was minimal eye contact, no smiles and avoiding contact with customers as much as possible appeared evident. Wish we had gone somewhere else. We certainly won't be going again. I'm writing this in response to an email from the Nine Elms Tavern saying that my option matters. It will be interesting to see what, if any, response I get to this.

Have been visiting bi-annually for last 3 or 4 years. October 2024 visit very disappointing. Menu has been shortened and made very generic. Decor is tired. Staff are still pleasant but the buzzy ambience and perception of leading the trends are gone.
