Aunt Fanny's Farm Shop and Café in East Dorset

This place does not disappoint the food is the best around a bit out of the way but so worth it. My husband had a mucky burger and hasn't shut up about it all week. He is already planning a visit in October when we go to Poole again. I left with a scone, bakewell and a caramel brownie all excellent.

What a fabulous evening!! Live music and fresh cooked pizza from the pizza oven . Take your own nibblesand booze, what more could you want (apart from the weather and we had that too!)

We had decided to spend a couple of days in Bournemouth with a single-night stayover. We travelled-down at a leisurely pace. We decided to have lunch; before visiting a favourite National Trust property near to this much-and-highly recommended farm shop and café. We hadn’t made a reservation, but there were plenty of tables available, and a good number of happy-looking customers dining or queueing to order. As I say there was a queue, but no signs as to the ‘procedure’, so we didn’t know whether we should we queue, order, and then find a seat, or find a table, then queue and order? So, we butted-in and asked. We then found a table, decided on our snacks and drinks; then I queued to place our order. The room in which we sat in was very warm; it was a sunny day and there was a glazed roof. We should have sat in the adjacent darker dining room deeper inside the café where it was much cooler; never mind. There were at least 50 colourful teapots hanging from hooks imbedded in the wooden roof beams. It was a pleasant and interesting place to be … the busy kitchen was open to this area. My Partner thought that the cakes and buns in the display cabinet looked yummy. For drinks: an Americano coffee for my Partner; it was very good and hot. I gambled that a pot of tea ‘for one’ would not yield as much tea as I wanted; so I ordered a pot for two. The lady at the counter checked that I had ordered only two meals, but drinks for three. I explained and she then understood, but when the drinks arrived at our table I was still provided with two cups and saucers with the pot of tea. Never mind … and by the way I had four cups of tea, and there was enough left for another two in the pot: result! My Partner, after much deliberation between the printed menu and the specials board, decided on Falafels with a side-salad and cous-cous. There was a mint yoghurt dressing on the three Falafels. The side salad was really good with colourful leaves, red cabbage and pomegranate seeds. The cous-cous had a good flavour (vegetable stock used) and the falafels were excellent. The snack ticked all the boxes and it was a meal that satisfied a ‘healthy’ appetite. I was undecided between the ‘Loaded Fries’ (with pulled pork, caramelised onions and mozzarella) or ‘Pie of the Day’ (I would have had to ask what the pie was, as it was not stated on the specials board). In the end I overheard the customers ahead of me in the queue; they were discussing which Pork Pie they would be ordering, and the ‘Pork and Orange’ was described as being “the best” and thus really appealed to me. With my pork pie I ordered a side salad and some chunky chips. It was a delicious meal and the brown sauce was a great compliment to the lovely chips, and the salad was fresh and colourful. The pastry told me everything about this made in-house pork pie ... it was all really great food; and I could certainly taste the orange essence. Again this meal satisfied a ‘healthy’ appetite (in this case mine!) My Partner didn’t have room for any cake, but somehow I think that on future visits to this area (and there will be some of those) this will be a ‘must-visit’ café for us.

Had the pleasure of being bought here for lunch. Beautiful home cooked food. Everything is home made. Struggled with the choice as there was so much to choose from. Opted for quiche, nice & deep, chunky chips, salad & homemade coleslaw. Beautiful. Then couldn't resist the coffee sponge. Again so many cakes to choose from. Had a wonderful lunch & would recommend 100% & will definitely be going again.

What a fantastic place, amazing food, excellent portions and so fresh. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with lots of profound and funny things to read. A wonderful lady owns this and on top of being hands on and working has rescued many dogs and other animals. Please visit you won’t be disappointed.

Love love love this place! Everything about it is amazing. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming and nothing is ever too much to ask. The food is so delicious and the portions are very generous! We have gone back time and time again and it’s been amazing every single time. Also dog friendly and our pup is always made to feel so welcome and gets all the cuddles and treats so she gives her stamp of approval of aunt Fanny’s too! The pizza nights on a Friday are so enjoyable in the summer. The music and the atmosphere is great and the pizzas are delicious! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

Lovely, quirky atmosphere. Very busy. The milkshake was amazing but the fish finger sandwich was a rip off. Mountains of stony white bread and buried inside two fish gingers. A weird pesto dressing. We had chips on the side, skin on skinny fries, mostly broken bits and a measure portion. We’re unlikely to return.

Cafe. Shame there isn't a Zero star as that's what it deserves. Dire about sums it up. The food is tasteless, boring, microwaved. The cakes are made elsewhere very limited selection . The scone was stale. The coffee is like dishwater. The Orange juice a complete and utter rip off. Nothing comes from the farm its all huge catering packs. As for the staff, Rude, no welcome, just like they wanted to be elsewhere. Perhaps if they and staff from other parts of the Estate spent less time congregating in the coffee shop chatting and tried to make the place and the menu more appealing then the reviews would be better. In its heyday it was lovely. Now I would rather starve and would have a more orant friendly conversation with myself than the ignorant unhelpful staff in here. My advice go elsewhere

Popped in after dog walk…well worth it! Staff were so helpful, taking time out to show a newbie how it all worked. Super welcoming to the dogs too. Lovely pecan fudge flapjack and tea. We will be back!

Love this place , but unfortunately this time I tried the cooked breakfast and I had baked beans which were not nice, they were hard and tasteless, and they unfortunately covered my sausage and bacon , I think it's much nicer when baked beans are put in a little pot separately

This wonderful place. I was thirsty. I fancied a cup of coffee, and I found surely the best coffee in Dorset. A great welcome. Very friendly staff and a beautiful greeting. My close friend Roland highly recommended their coffee. I’ll be back to Aunt Fanny’s this week, I’m sure of it

Hi We came for our first breakfast here saturday 20th April. We arrived early and sat in anticipation of the cooked breakfast. Although the surroundings are good we found the breakfast had been rushed in the cooking. Toast , pale and soggy, bacon not crisp at all in fact we left it, scrambled eggs tasteless, cheap sausage, and for over £10 not that impressed. We often go to wolvercoft garden centre and to compare its much cheaper but with good ingredients and care. Less speed ,more quality is the summary. thanks.

Called in to browse the nearby antique shops and popped in for coffee and cake, which changed when we saw the breakfast menu, so we had a large breakfast and coffee and an egg bread and pot of tea. Lovely atmosphere, helpful friendly staff, very busy. Clear the eggs were fresh as they tasted the sane as when we kept our own hens. Too full for cake, but we bought some to take away. Highly recommended.

Popped in for Lunch, had a lovely home made steak pie and my other half had one of their sandwhichs. Good atmosphere, very busy and has to wait for a table, otherwise very good.

I rarely leave a poor review however I feel it's necessary to give feedback to a very poor customer experience. I visited with a friend and have been previously, so it was a complete surprise to hear when my friend asked what vegan dessert/cake out of the very large display we could choose from was responded to so poorly. The reply from the owner was to humiliate us by stating why bring a vegan to a farm shop directing her response to a waiting question of customers and laugh gaining the momentum of waiting customers to join in. This was not only unnecessary but completely disrespectful. To say this is a view that is dated and disparaging is an understatement demonstrating how out of touch the owners are to modern dietary requirements. To be treated with such disrespect with pre convinced perception of dietary requests is incredulous in 2024 and sadly you have lost our custom and of our friends who will not return to be humiliated again.

I've been to Aunt Fanny's a few times, for coffee and cake and recently for breakfast, everytime it has been amazing, the staff are really friendly, and the food is lush and homemade! Everything is reasonably priced and definitely worth the pennies! Looking forward to summer when the garden is open!

My partner and I travel over 30 mins to visit Aunt Fanny’s when we get the chance, the food is exceptional. If you want delicious, home made meals, this is the place to go. Their cakes are out of this world, it’s very hard to find delicious home made cakes locally but the choice here will leave you in a predicament of which one to choose! The same goes for the sausage rolls and pies. The staff are very friendly and I would like to say a big thank you as we went with our new born and they did everything they could to help us navigate and sit at a table with a pram! They made us feel very welcome and not that we were too much trouble. I recommend this quaint cafe to many as it is 10/10 in my opinion!

After hearing great reviews hubby & I went for lunch & we were not disappointed. A great selection of cooked food, sandwiches & toasties to choose from not forgetting the specials board also. All the food plated that came out looked and smelt delicious & our lunch was superb. A special mention to Emily who made the best Chai Latte. If you've never been you don't know what you are missing, we shall definitely be back & may have room for cake next time !

Brilliantly quirky place to visit and eat. Food is excellent and good value when compared to other places in the wider area. The atmosphere is really pleasant and relaxed and the staff are welcoming and efficient. We have visited several times in the last few months and cannot fault Aunt Fanny's. The only issue we have had was on one attempted visit where the car park was completely full. Got to be a good sign!

I visited for a coffee and cake with a friend. Cake was ok-ish, quite expensive for a tiny slice. Coffee wasn’t nice at all, I’m sorry to say so but coffee at Tesco’s cafe tastes way much better then this one. Table and chairs were sticky, like they weren’t wiped for days.

My family and I have had such a lovely experience here on more than one occasion. Always greeted with happy faces and a warm welcome. The baked goods tast as amazing as they look. The owner was lovely especially as she always made an effort to keep my youngest entertained when passing. There are a collective amount of ornaments around and that’s all part of aunt Fanny’s charm! I can’t wait for summer to come and visit for pizza night and bring your own bottle! My children love to spot any animals outside too, it always keeps them amused. Thanks again for great food and a great couple of hours.

Just love it here. The best and biggest cakes. Great friendly team. Lovely food. Brilliant stop for cyclists too. It’s a great mountain bike ride over Badbury Rings to get here too. Looking forward to many more visits. Our dog Dave loves it here too 🐾
