The atmosphere is very friendly, with quick service and the waiters were very attentive. The food is tasty and the portions are huge! I would recommend this place for the little touches such as a sundry bread with dips on arrival and a shot with a sweet treat upon departure. Great value for money and good quality.

Visitamos como queríamos probar la comida griega. Teníamos un meze griego que es un montón de pequeños platos con mucha comida, nos quedamos para el espectáculo de danza del vientre que era excelente, había una discoteca pero nos fuimos temprano ya que tuvimos que ir a nuestro hotel, en general, una excelente comida

Visité esta noche con amigos. Esperando la noche de la buena comida, el baile y el entretenimiento. Nuevo lugar pero todavía anunciado como un buen lugar para una noche divertida. Era una fiesta privada en el piso de arriba, así que decimos escaleras abajo. No hay ambiente de fiesta. Bueno ok. Me habia Demasiada carne y poca ensalada. No bailar ! ! ! ! Solía vivir aquí, pero dudo que vuelva a visitarlo a menos que cambie a cómo solía ser.

we booked this restaurant for friends who'd not been before, it advertised disco 60,70,and 80 music so we booked hotel round the corner as one of us has difficulty walking, on 31st we'd all checked in to hotel when friend received a call asking if we were still going and did we know were it was as it had moved, after afew minutes he rang back and said its Athens we've booked yes its still Athens ,so we set of on the night to find it little did we know it was Santorini's which we went to last year, would not have gone if wed known, there was no disco, just abba music then as place full of mostly foreigners they put there music on standing guard at there phones hooked to music system, they were rude.On a positive note the food was ok not as good as last year but plenty of it we took boxes back and gave to the homeless .Wouldn't go for night out again due to music issue Id be surprised if they were greek as I've always found greek's to be polite and friendly.

Had my hen party here in January,we choosed the party menu which is great value for money.The food is delicious ,could not fault it.You can tell its freshly prepared as it was all hot when served and the Greek salads were delicious and I would recommend the steak Dianne,amazing! Entertainment was wonderful,belly dancing was great we all joined in,even the other parties! I have to say I enjoyed ths plats smashing a lot!! This has to be the best Greek restaurant tp go to for a celebration,I would recommend highly for a hen party,as a bride organising my hen do I could not have chosen a better restaurant. Go here for Greek food and if ypou want to party! Its a wonderful evening and such a fun experience ,great night

We had our Christmas do here recently, a group of 20 and another smaller group shared the venue – the heating was very poor most people had their coats on. The wine was well over priced, the food not worth the money – plenty of it but the quality was poor. While we made our own entertainment, the staff tried to make it a festive do, but really it was not up to much. I would not go back.

We paid an extortionate amount of money in this place for food which would I wouldn’t pay for. We had to go up twice to ask where our food was and weren’t even given half the food on the menu (we ordered menu 2) .On top of all of this they managed to overcharge us for our service. Was honestly shocking and regret every penny I spent in this place!

Great atmosphere and an amazing evening . The meze was amazing and very big portions as it was a party of 6. There was a wonderful belly dancer too! Highly recommended if you like Greek food/atmosphere

Top class service and food the manager is a pure gentleman made us very welcome it was a birthday evening meal we couldn't have chose a better venue the service was first class definitely going there again

Me and some friends booked a birthday party here on Saturday 28/10/2017 and i can honestly say it was fantastic , i really cant understand any one writing a bad review about this place. Because our night was really great. We was well looked after and the entertainment was great too . We all had the mezze and the food was so good. After the food there was a belly dancer , which was great and then we went outside , done some greek dancing , smashing plates and then we came inside to do some more greek dancing and then the party really started with the disco music which was still going when we left at 2.30 am . If you haven’t tried this place I recommend it .

From the entrance we wanted to leave. My boss highly recommended this place especially mentioning the food and atmosphere. Both were horrible. That place look like 50 years old. Very bad lights inside. On a Saturday night they had a small dinner event. The music was loud really loud if you wish to have a nice ambiance. Food : we chose the banqueting menu (a bit of everything). The starter was really nice. But the main course and desert horrible, old, probably expired. I don’t even know how they are surviving on the market. Main course was really bad, you could not eat. Was at least one week old. If you are a food enthusiast person don’t go there.

Excellent meal ,visited for my husbands 40th birthday.The food was wonderful , staff were superb and entertainment show was a great treat for our party.Smashing plates and belly dancing show was fantastic.Defintley a must if you want Greek food ,we were a group of 39 adults and 5 teenagers and every single person had a wonderful time! Can't wait to return !

The occasion was a prewedding party night. We were taken care of so well. Nothing was to much trouble. The food was lovely and plentyful. Cocktails great value for money, and we loved the cheesy disco. Thank you to all at Athen for making it a special night.

Visited Here for my works early Christmas party! Absolutely brilliant ,food,service and entertainment was great.The food is delicious ,the halloumi,Greek sausages ,Dolmades,and stifado were perfect .The traditional Greek dancing was fantastic and belly dancing was fun .The dj was great ,definitely a place to go to.Best Greek restaurant I've visited in Birmingham ,highly recommend.

I had wanted to go to Athens for years and finally went last weekend for my mums birthday- it certainly didn't disappoint. I can't remember the owners/managers name but he was one of the nicest people I've ever met- letting us having an extra starter for free and saving my mum an extra large plate to smash because he knew it was her birthday.The food is incredible value for what you get and really tasty too- I highly recommend the mixed grill. After the meal it turns into a big party with everyone dancing and doing the conga in the street, i was having such a good time I really didn't want to go home. There was only 4 of us but I imagine it's a great place to have a party- there was a hen party there and they seemed to be having a great time. I would really recommend this restaurant to anyone and will certainly be coming back in the future.

What a wonderful place,I brought my engagement do here ,there was a total of 35 people ,even though the restaurant was extremely busy when we arrived service was quick and definitely the Greek hospitality blossoms after each course! There's a few menus to choose from we personally choose the meze..and wow,what a feast!Cocktails and the Greek beers went down a treat and entertainment show was a great experience.The food is superb,considering your in bham city centre the flavours are just what you would expect in Greece..could say even better!There's free parking too and very close to new street so made our guests journeys easy! Excellent food,great hosts and a great party,couldn't have picked a better restaurant in Brum! Thank you for looking after our engagement party ,all my friends and family complimented on what a great night it was.

We popped in from visiting a exhibition in birmingham city centre,we arrived quite early at around 5pm.Relaxing atmosphere with some cocktails made at the bar for us.We then choose meze,which was perfect,there was 14 of us, and there was food for 20 of us! Massive portions and all of very high quality.The service was impeccable and not to mention the belly dancing show and greek dancing which was spot on! The desserts were scrumptious,i ended up choosing the chocolate profiteroles which was amazing!! I have been to a few greek restaurants but never experianced such good food and entertainment to the same standard.I would 100% suggest you visit this place if you are looking for greek food i suggest the meze,its plentiful and wholesome,perfect way to finish our evening

Went with 10 work friends.The place was cold and empty The food we had read from website wasn't available .Would be nice for xmas parties if alot of people went .

We dropped our daughter off at University in Birmingham and decided to stay over and celebrate our Anniversary there. Hubby booked the Athens restaurant for our meal. We were seated immediately and within minutes we were brought a beautiful Greek salad with bread. We then ordered our drinks and the meze. Hubby advised the waiter that I was a vegetarian. The waiter then told us he would happily make something especially for me. They then brought out lots of tasty dips and a mixed cheese salad with a beautiful sauce. The waiter were so attentive and great hosts. The food was beautiful. After the meal, a beautiful belly dancer came out teaching the diners to belly dance. Then the waiters took some of the the diners for a Greek dance and plate smashing. The waiter brought us a complimentary oouzo. Such a lovely night would definitely return.

Fantastic restaurant for Greek food, set menu was amazing choice and Halloumi melted in mouth, absolutely delicious. Fabulous drinks, entertainment was great, it's perfect if you want to try proper Greek food in a fab atmosphere. I WOULD definitely recommend, has to be the best meal I've had in ages, definitely try this restaurant, you will have great Food and entertainment 5 stars from our party, thank you for a fantastic evening

10 of us visited for my husbands birthday and we all had a fantastic night. We were concerned when we got there as there was nobody else in the restaurant at 8.30pm on a Friday night. We ordered the meze and we were not disappointed. There was so much food!!! It was all cooked really well and tasted great. The staff were very attentive and did all they could to make sure we all had a great night. Even though we were the only people in the restaurant the whole night, they still did the plate smashing and the Greek dancing. It was fab!! This is the second time I have been to this restaurant and I just love it. Would highly recommend to anyone. Don't be put off by the location or the fact the place is empty. These guys really know how to show you a good time.

Amazing atmosphere!Food and cocktails were great!The belly dancer and 'Zorba'-Greek dancing followed right after that, meant the beginning of the party..Definitely recommend!

When we arrived at the restaurant it's safe to say we were a little dubious! There wasn't a single person in there and the decor could have done with a little updating, however a fantastic evening was had by all!We had the meze menu and the amount of food for your money was phenomenal. Dishes upon dishes of food were served. All freshly cooked and to a high quality. As part of a hen party the staff went above and beyond to ensure that everyone was happy. After dinner we went all out Greek and they took us into the street for some plate smashing!! After doing some Greek dancing the staff turned the music to some cheesy pop so that we could have a good dance in the ample space available. Fantastic evening and perfect for something a little different on a hen party!

A party of us decided to stop of here as we were staying at the local hotel. We ordered our cocktails but the bar was so busy with other customers and staff passing through with food in what was a very tight space. We felt peckish and were shown to a table. The music was do loud and we couldn't hear each other speak. We were given menus which we realised were for a three course meal ONLY and we didn't want that.We tried to explain this to the waiter but he appeared annoyed with us and grabbed all the menus back pointing out that he had given us a table to eat at.At this we decided to leave as he made us feel very uncomfortable. We will not be going there again!!!

What can I say! We had an amazing night celebrating my sister's hen party! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves! The staff was very attentive and nothing was too much for them, they all joined in the entertainment and got everyone involved in the entertainment! Belly dancer was fab getting everyone up to join in! And the food was AMAZING there was so much of it i felt bad not being able to finish it all, 3 courses for £17 you can not fault it! A relax atmosphere and great entertainment made the night! Highly recommend and will definitely be going back! A MASSIVE thank you to all staff!

Having been there for a birthday party. It's nothing short of fantastic and great value. Having paid 17 quid for fantastic food and entertainment after. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to feel like there in Greece. With the smashing plates and bellydancer and music til the early hours what more could you ask for. Really anyone reading this review I urge you to try it out.

I visited with 14 adults we organised a group Greek meal and visited Athens.We had the best service ever had in a busy restaurant! I was very impressed,the Greek meze was delicious, plentiful portions,but importantly proper authentic Greek food which you expect in mainland Greece. You can also experience Greek dancing,belly dancing show ,which was great especially if you are in a group. There was a mixture of couples, birthdays and hen parties,I will be visiting again in June,just me and my partner.Also the restaurants décor is modern, also had air conditioning too!Overall if you are wanting to have a Greek meal in the city,this is the place. Best Greek meal I've had

Booked Athens restaurant for our moms 75 birthday there were only 9 of us. Service was good as there was only us in there until 8:30 when another group of 10 arrived . I will start with the room it was freezing in the room sat in our coats we had the set menus for £17 he service started with a Greek salad & bread which was lovely .. orders taken for starters and main together. The starters are great value for money the main was hot but that was it I am fussy I don't have salt or vinegar on anything but food already served with it on this including the chips .out of 9 of us only 1 eat all there food. My mom wanted to smash a plate so we asked and they said we're ready when you are on came the music she loved it he other table joined in which was lovely They went outside in the pouring rain to do this but she loved it, mom had a great night and had travelled down from Telford with my brother and he's family. Would I go again no ..do I go to Greece on holiday yes as my partner is Greek but food wasn't to our liking .. and the service was good .. And they also done a pasta dish for one of our guests which she said was lovely but could not eat as really salty

Absolutely love this place ! Everything from the food , service , entertainment was absolutely fantastic ! I do not understand where the bad reviews come from ! Really good value for money and the drinks are not overpriced :-))))) we even had free shots given to us ! I would highly recommend this venue for any celebration , we were made to feel very welcome , I will 100% be returning here :-) thank you for such a wonderful night :-)))

We had an amazing time from start to finish at Athens for my daughters hen party on 7th April- there were 24 of us and the service was great, there was so much meze to start with and everyone was digging in and then the main course came and wow, just as great, some people had desserts and said how nice they were. Not one person complained about anything and told us how much they enjoyed it and great value for money. Then came belly dancing and we all had a go, plate smashing and dancing outside and a great disco at to end it all. Staff were friendly and made our night by being so attentive to our party. We all got in the spirit of Greece and dressed as Greek goddesses. Would definitely recommend Athens. A big thumbs up from the Greek Goddesses of Leicester. Thank you

Celebrated my birthday and mothers day on Saturday 25 March 17 and had a fantastic evening, excellent service and value for money, delicious food, belly dancer entertainment and disco, went out on the street for zorbas dance and traditional greek plate smashing. asked staff to order taxis for us which they did, however, due to paradise circus redevelopment, taxis had to park around the corner, and unfortunately the taxis ordered for us had gone by the time we got round the corner, as a result of this a member of the staff did his utmost to sort this out and went out himself to look out for taxis and asked them to wait until we walked to them. would recommend for any celebration.

Large group night out to Athens. Food very disappointing but £17 for 3 courses you get what you pay for. Staff lovely, atmosphere great. Cocktails good £5 each. Overall good night shame about the food.

The place was very cold when we turned up. The toilets left a lot to be desired. You had 2 options with the price of your meal £17.00 or £20.00 depending on what you had. That's ok until the bill turns up they then add the vat. No where on the menu or the web site dose it mentions vat would be added at the end. How many restaurant 's do that. Not a big problem just so easy to sort out change the prices on the menu!!!!!!!!

Visited with my other half ,had a authentic greek meal,defiantly would recommend you to try there food,it was delicious. The food was plentiful ,grilled souvlaki chicken and mousaka was beautiful ,Staff were professional and polite,cocktails were great and also the mythos Greek beer.Very authentic feel of Greece inside,this is perfect for birthdays and groups,I visited just with my husband and had a 5 star meal! Do not hesitate to try as we had a wonderful evening!

Well where do I start. My sister booked this venue for her hen night after reading some of the reviews on here. How misleading was they. When we arrived here it was so disorganised. The bar ( if that's what you can call it) looked shabby and dirty. The woman behind the bar didn't crack her face all night except to give you dirty looks. She was very scruffy. There was no till. Just a metal box. The cocktails (I use that word loosely) were more juice than alcohol and all came in different shaped glasses cost £5. Unbelievable!! Then the card machine wouldn't work properly. She proceeded to walk round the establishment with my card inside trying to get a signal. By now I knew we had problems.We then proceeded to our seats. 22 of us crammed on a long table, right opposite a 1st birthday party. Bearing in mind this was an hen night. We kept banging elbows everytime we moved.We then looked at our menus for 2 mins before the waiter came asking us what we wanted. 5 minutes later (wow that was quick...obviously not cooked fresh, just warmed in microwave) our starter came, very oily garlic mushrooms. One of the girls decided just by looking at it that she wasn't eating there that night and sent her food back.10 minutes later we were asked for our mains orders. Again quickly followed by the food. Very very dry. I was scared to swallow in case the food got stuck. And with only a bit of my cocktail left to swill it down with I left most of that meal.Then the dessert ( well that was a joke ) I ordered cheesecake. The waiter came out with all different types of tablespoons in the palm of his sweaty hands. And the tablespoon would just about cover the size of the cheesecake. It was smaller than a child's portion and it was obviously from a supermarket freezer.By now the belly dancer was out. She was quite good. And then the waiters started to try get the girls up by grinding themselves against the guests. The toilets were absolutely disgusting. 2 toilets for the ladies, both with the seats hanging off. Wet floor. Tiles missing. Cobwebs everywhere. And a box of tesco tissues to wipe your hands on.By now we hadn't had our coffee which was on our £17 set meal and it never ever arrived for any of us.My sister had had enough. She went to the bar to ask for the bill. She had already collected £17 off each of the girls except for the one girl who didn't eat anything. They then charged her for all 22 of us and on top of that put an £80 service charge. My mom and sister tried to explain to them that this wasn't acceptable to which the manager ( I presume) started shouting at them very aggressively right in their face, my sister by now was crying and he continued shouting at them that they must pay. My mom tried to calm my sister down ( but she too is ill with leukaemia) and was looking forward for a good night. Then one of my sister friends stepped in and said this can't be right. He then threw £30 back at my sister. And then said " no no no " give it me back. We then just turned around and left. I then took my sister to the local wetherspoon and we enjoyed that much much better and wish we had started off there in the first place. Luckily we didn't let these morans spoil a very important evening. And unless you want to be treated like this I would avoid at all costs.

Whenever we go to Birmingham, the Athena is top of our list of places for dinner. Two things we love about Greece, are it's people and it's gastronomy, here in Birmingham it was perfect. We had not been there for twelve months and yet the owner remembered us. Makes you feel special, and of course the food was delicious. Thank you.

I have to say when we arrived we were sat down straight away and attended too! They allowed us to chose from two menus personally the 17 quid is a great one to pick! And ordered within 5 mins.Straight away we were given a huge bowl of salad and loads of flat bread this is included with the deal and I was pretty impressed. Once staters were ordered they literally came out within 2 mins later. I found that strange however it tasted brilliant and there was no fault with it. When the main came out I didn't find the food popping hot it was warm.. for me that was a downside as I felt I didn't enjoy it as much as my starter. My friend who was with me had meat and that went cold very quickly as it also wasn't pipping hot. However the taste and flavours were brilliant.Downsides - food could be more warmer, and it's cold inside. We sat with a scarf and jacket it was that cold! Positives - great value for money! Their chocolate cake at the end is amazing! And their entertainment never lacks!

Went here on a Friday night in the midst of Christmas party season. Had the set mezze menu with 20 dishes. All good and very enjoyable.Great service and made to feel very welcome to give a great experience overall. Was bit chilly inside as another reviewer has said!

Last minute decision to try this on a Friday night wanting just a small selection of Mezes. Disappointed to find option 1 of 31 meze dishes or option 2 a starter followed by main course. Atmosphere was good- its Christmas party time and the staff were helpful and friendly. On the downside it took over 30 minutes to get and pay the bill. Whilst the starters were ok and the main course meat was tasty and well cooked in this day and age how is it acceptable to serve tinned peas and carrots totally lacking in taste or texture along with tasteless potato. Not somewhere I would return or recommend

Food very good but I felt pressured into having the mezze which was a different price to the menu. Also a service charge was on the bill which I don't like. The restaurant was cold. At around ten, the music was turned up very loud to create an atmosphere despite only six people being there! . I have been several times but this will be my last.

We was walking past on a Wednesday evening ,we were a group of 10 people.I have to say this has to be the best greek restaurant in Birmingham !We looked at the menu and it looked great so decided to give it a try.Wow! Didn't expect so much food,it was all freshly cooked and arrived very hot!The halloumi was delicious,everyone commented how nice the food was .Its very authentic Greek food so I would really recommend if you want Greek food .Its a large restaurant with a really nice bar which had a lot of Greek beers and wines.Staff were exceptional ,Christos was amazing,I would recommend if you are in the city centre as it's opposite the town hall and broad street ! So very good location to meet up.

The staff here were very hospitable. They were welcoming and very caring. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The entertainment was fun, and the staff involved everyone! An immensely enjoyable night and would come back here to eat again!

Absolutely unprofessional. So embarrassing for a birthday do. My friend booked a table for 8 at 8pm. 5 of us arrived and the other guests ran late around 15 minutes. As we were waiting for them they took half of the table away and said they'd bring it back once all of our guests were here... which didn't happen. Even once we all arrived. The waiter men were walking up and down the restaurant not making any eye contact with us and failing to communicate with us. Eventually at 9:30pm a waiter said 'i am sorry girls we don't want to kick you out but there are no tables so either you squeeze the 8 of you on a small table of 4 or just have drinks at the bar'At this point the birthday girl was very upset and we decided to leave and go somewhere else. Absolutely unprofessional and I honestly felt so sorry for my friend and her guests. Also a note.. the waiters were too stressed out running around shouting and it gave the night a bad look considering everybody comes there to eat. Not happy !

Had my friends hen party here last night, food was lovely and the entertainment was brilliant!! The waiter CHRIS was amazing! He looked after our table brilliantly and constantly asked if we needed anything.. also got us all up to dance. Excellent night!!

Fantastic night for my supisters hen party, food was fab and staff kept us entertained all night, really had a great time.

We had to eat early so restaurant was empty but we were treated like royalty. Asked to have a Meze without seeing a menu and the food just kept coming - it was so beautiful and fresh and tasty.Christo and our lovel, waiter really looked after us.Our only problem was it was a little cold in the restaurant, but I'm sure as it started to fill up it would have warmed up.

We went to a 21st birthday here and although it was very quiet due to it being in the middle of the week, Christo and his colleague really spoilt us. The starters consisted of around 6 courses, and the main course tasted like a good home cooked meal and tasted amazing. We were constantly entertained by them, always coming up to us and making sure we were enjoying ourselves and telling us stories. Afterwards came the plate smashing and the disco, all in all a great entertaining night that won't be forgotten! No experience quite like it in Birmingham!

Had a wonderful works company party,we had a meze which was the best meal I have had in Birmingham! The halloumi and keftes was most watering,the food was steaming hot and could tell was fresh.The waitors are really polite and efficient, they recommended the Greek beer which was a great change from BudweiserThe restaurant was busy service was excellent the belly dancer was amazing the show was fantastic to watch ,the plate smashing was great the Greek dancing was the fantastic!! We stayed very late ,the DJ was brilliant .I would defiantly bring a party here again.Overall a fantastic evening of great food and service,very enjoyable .

This is the second time I've visited Athens, the first being over 2 and a half years ago for a hen party.The food is delicious and plenty of it, the staff are the friendliest people you could wish to meet. They seriously can't do enough for you.It was a slow night (only 2 tables in) which is probably because there are lots of road works around that area. I was worried it would effect the atmosphere but it just made them work harder to keep the small group entertained! It was an amazing night and we'll definitely be returning!

Food: 3/10Ordered the steak and asked for it rare, it was like stewing steak, flakey and dry. The chicken on the mezze was dry, i get the feeling that most of the food is pre-prepared a day or two prior to being served as they cater for large groups, mainly hen and stags.Service: 4/10 Staff do what they can but are often rushing around to speed the service, often clearing plates and drink bottles when they wern't finished with.Price: 4/10 Drinks are pricey for bottled beer, and soft drinks are poured from bottles at 100% margin per glass.We were charged for service twice, as others had paid card and some cash, had to spend 15 minutes debating the cost.Venue: 2/10Dated, christmas wrapping paper on the ceiling to hide water marks .. c'mon !!??I visited here 10 years ago for a birthday and had a great time, but that was then - i would't return.

Excellent Greek experience, my starter of calamari was delicious I then had mousaka which was homemade with fresh vegetables.Food was perfect ,its very busy inside but service was very good, also the Greek wine not sure of the name was beautiful, defiantly going again.

Incredible value food ,would have happily paid more!Greek food at its best,the kleftiko was mouth watering and the stifado was so tender it was delicious.The cocktails are amazingly made the blue lagoon was my drink for the night! The DJ was fantastic ,our party was a 35th birthday ,we brought balloons and the restaurant kindly decorated our table ,saved me the hassle!!The smashing plates was a brilliant and the traditional Greek dancing was amazing!! Our whole table joined in! The lighting inside and decor make it relaxed and formal ,its the right place for groups,even couples as there was groups and lots of tables of couplesThe birthday girl enjoyed herself ,partied till a lot later than planned,overall a awesome evening

If you want authentic Greek food ,commendable service and fantastic atmosphere this is your place , Visited Athens Friday for my annual works do 90 people attended , the food was smashing , the meze was plentiful along with the Greek beer mythos .Barman was a great guy, the service was outstanding during dinner, the staff I highly commended , 90 people ,every person happy . The restaurant itself is modern Greek , I have been brining my company now for 8 years , we have the same date every year , massive thanks to everyone who works there ! You never disappoint me ! For Birmingham city centre this is the only place with greek food and entertainment in one place , for a company's party it's absolutely perfect .Thank You!!! James &Co

If you just want to get tipsy, spend lots of money and eat bland food then this is the place for you, if your thinking of spending a special occasion somewhere then please read the bad reviews and realise that nothing as ever changed. Nothing like a Greek restaurant. I booked this a month in advance of my wife's 30th birthday and I was totally appalled with the standard. Reading the bad reviews on here, it's clear they don't listen, the things I'm about to complain about are the issues that customers have been complaining about for years, it's clear that they just don't care. I actually didn't read the reviews on here, I just booked it.Ok, you need to read all of this to understand how bad it is, I'm going to describe waiters as racist and prejudice and I feel I have the right to use such words.1. Booked well in advance, 3-4 weeks, for my wife's 30th, booked for around 25-30 people as couldn't be sure about turn out, 28 actually arrived. Booked for 7pm. I arrived at 7.10 to be met by half of my party who had arrived before me, they were telling me that the waiter had already asked them to sit down an order, they had menus in their hands. By 7.15pm 20 of my party had arrived, so we were ushered into our seats, but there was no room for anybody else, I explained numerous times that the party was not all here, he wasn't interested, just sat us down, eventually he moved us all to a bigger table after I refused to have people sitting on the ends of tables. Splitting couples up. He just wanted the food ordered quick. This is the small waiter with a moustache. He could well be the manager.2. One of my party is disabled and doesn't have the use of his legs, the waiter tried to put him at the end "out of the way" and he referred to him as "the man with no legs"...!!! Later he referred to an Indian lady from another party as "sweet curry lady".....!!!! Witnessed by many.3. Food was actually ok, bit bland, chips on the starter, from ordering the starter to having mains on the table 22 mins !! All rushed. Lots of salad and rice.4. Very watered down cocktails, spirits in plastic containers so you can't actually see what's in them, and how watered down they are. Like they do in bars on 18-30 holidays.5. No change on arrival, couldn't buy a drink unless exact change.6. £5 for a bottle of kopperberg, and nothing on draught.7. 10% service charge added on without notice or consent, everybody gave me the correct amount of cash before leaving, when I paid the bill I got hit with a £37 service charge which I had to pay. Beware of this, because your party will leave not knowing about this and you will get lumbered with it. Some had paid by card and he didn't take it off . £37 tip !!!8. Waiters smoking outside the premises, then handling your cutlery.Unorganised chaos, unprepared, overpriced, rude, rushed andoutdated, Athens your time is up, sort it out because eventually people will walk away, birmingham is being constantly improved, the bierkeller is on its way, people will find other party themed restaurants. The restaurant is very dated, the ladies toilets were vile, the standard of a dirty social club. They have no information on our reservation or how much deposit we paid, there was not enough seats at our table on arrival. The staff were very inappropriate making sexualised comments. They would not offer table service for drinks! What type of restaurant does not offer that? We had to queue at the bar. The food was coated in salt. I had hallumi for starter with salad, salad looked off and hallumi was cold. For main i had vegetable moussaka which was clearly microwaved, microwaved rice, two very hard potato wedges and over cooked carrots and peas, the main was pretty much inedible!! Then they brought out plates of luke warm, overcooked, over salted chips (random). They need to simplify the long menu and raise the quality of the food. My friend had a cocktail which had a DEAD FLY in it! Lots of our table were overcharged at the bar on numerous occasions! The bar had a poor selection of drinks, soft drinks served flat out of bottles for £2 a glass. Then staff attempted to drag people up on dance floor despite them saying no, music was a selection of spice girls and sclub7. The best part was the belly dancer who had amazing abs! About three plates were smashed outside the front where the staff also stood smoking cigerettes, very unprofessional! I cannot understand why anyone would give this place 5 out of 5.. They must have been to a different restaurant!!

We all went on a work night . Food was great !!! Atmosphere with the Greek dancing fantastic and the cocktails are really nice. This is a great night for big groups of people . The staff are so friendly and professional and they are all up for a laugh making the atmosphere great.

Booked my hen party for 19 here in September 2016. The table was ready when we arrived and the staff were very friendly and patient with a large group of girls. The atmosphere was great with staff encouraging dancing, belly dancing and plate smashing out the front. We were able to keep our table all night and dj and dancing too. For £17 a head the food was actually really nice and quite reasonable for 3 course!! They even brought out extra plates of chips for the table etc. Drinks were order at the bar and pay cash only, which I am very glad about as I was short changed on 4 seperate occasions so be make sure you have your witts about you! First time was the first drink of the night and was charged £15 instead of £11, then paid with a £20 note for a £7 drink and asked for £2 coin as no change to be given £10 back instead of £15 and then again a couple of times when giving £1 coins for drinks to not be given the change. I appreciate it's loud and busy and they also have no till just a big tray of change but I can imagine most people don't realise or challenge the mistake! Although they ran out of diet coke the drinks were decent and £4- £5 for fresh made cocktails was very reasonable in centre of Birmingham.All in all for £17 a head was a good night out and a great place for a hen party!

Been a few times ,the meze is very fresh and portions are huge! The flatbread and Greek salads were delicious and the Greek tzatiki was delicious .Wonderful Greek , will be back again for a birthday!!

Visited with 70 people,the service was absolutely fantastic.All the food was hot and it was delicious.Every single person said the food was delicious.The Greek beers and cocktails were beautiful,the belly dancer was fab and the Greek dancing was absolutely brilliant.What a fantastic place to enjoy Greek food and enjoy entertainment,I would reccomend if you want a night out,I'm the most fussiest eater but this was the best meals I've had in Birmingham's

Had a fantastic night, Staff go out the way to make sure you have a great night. Food was lovely. The place is looking tired and smashed front door.. Needs some tiding up. I really enjoyed the night. Would defiantly go again if it was cleaned up.

The staff go out of their way to make a special night, good fun, good food, great entertainment. The place is a bit tired but don't let that put you off.

Organised a hen party here for my bestie. The service was amazing, they were great help organising everything and giving us some ideas. We had plenty of delicious food and drinks, and all the staff were incredibly friendly. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!

A very dated place, not particularly clean dust ever where floor disgusting, decor tatty and very dated.i don't see how this can be called a restaurant it's more like a cattle market, the staff were unprofessional dressed in unclean clothes and a lady serving the food didn't even have her hair tied back. The Greek dancing lasted about 10minutes and 3 plates were smashed, after that a pre recorded CD was played to dance to and all the songs were cut short on it. The food wasn't very nice but on the plus side it was served warm

HI there, we visited on Sat, 4 June. Was a very busy night with lots of hen celebrations. We were in a party of 14, we had a great time and stayed til the end. the staff even helped get our table ready before we arrived with balloons, favours etc. It was a lovely summers night when we went outside to break the plates.! Can't wait to visit again, Pam xx

Food was tasteless, most of my group (15 people) did not eat theirs - if there was a taste it was inedible! Restaurant needs a major re-furb, toilets disgusting none of the doors closed - all in all a very tired looking restaurant and very tired looking staff. Entertainment... pfft... don't even!

4 star on trip advisor is completely misleading. Plastic table cloths, poor service and a night club setting. They were too busy to bring us drinks! The whole place was full of groups - hen parties and birthday parties. It is not a nice experience. Plus the food was hardly restaurant standard - clearly regenerated and not fresh to order. If you're not fussy about setting or food then this place is for you. The waiters were enthusiastic about dancing once the lights were dimmed and the music cranked up...

when here on Saturday 11th June for my partners 40th birthday could not fault this place all 24 of us enjoyed the night and the food staff were fantastic we loved it music was great beer was fantastic just gotta say thanks to all the staff for a wonderful time

Birthday party visited,all of us are Greek so know exactly what to expect.We had traditional Greek food,we all had a mere.We then enjoyed entertainment ,fantastic belly dancing,DJ and dancing .All our party was impressed and defiantly tradditonal Greek meze. The best for Greek food in Birmingham,specially if you have a celebration.I will visit again with my partner.

have been coming here on and off for many years now had my 65 th brithday meal here this week my grandchildren i am happy to say were there one whom is now 18 carlo who had his crisering party at this very restaurant which was the best stavros really went out of his way to welcome us and the food was a joy lots of mixed starters the maims are all freesh made top marks be back soon

A group of us visited Athens last weekend for a hen party - so did every other hen party in Birmingham that night. It was fair to say if you didn't have a pink sash you looked out of place. The menu included a range of starters, main courses and desserts for £17. Initially I thought this was brilliant for a 3 course meal. The drinks are ordered separately at the bar. I paid £5 for an average glass of white wine and £5 again for a rubbish, watered down cocktail. As we looked around we realised the other table's (every one a hen party) food had not yet arrived and it seemed as though every table in restaurant was ordering. As predicted, everyone's starter arrived at the same time. I ordered the meatballs which were okay. The flat bread which was placed around the table was more enjoyable. We then waited around 25 for our mains to arrive. There was 13 of us in my party and all but one arrived. When my friend asked where her pasta dish was the waiter simply replied 'oh it's probably still in the microwave'. As I had chosen the chicken, this made me stop eating as thoughts of food poisoning and god knows what else entered my mind. I ate a few chips but left my whole plate. The entire restaurant had finished their mains by this point so music started and everyone began dancing around the tables to popular Greek music. Shortly after our desserts arrived however not many of us were seated to enjoy them. I had a very hard and brown looking cheesecake, which I did not finish. We were then ushered outside to watch one of the waiters throw plates around while the customers danced around in a circle. My friend and I were taking videos when the chef came up to us and asked for a selfie! We returned inside where a belly dancer had appeared - although I'm pretty sure she was the waitress from earlier but had changed her clothes...Shakira music was then played while the waiters awkwardly danced and gathered people to join. The older women in my party were enjoying themselves whereas I felt ready to leave. I did highlight to a friend this would be a perfect opportunity to walk out as no one had given us a bill and no one would notice that we hadn't paid. We went to the bar to pay our £17. The waiter was not happy that two of us wanted to pay early and said we must pay together. We explained we were leaving and had a taxi outside. I gave him £17 exactly and he replied I needed to pay £3 service charge. This was not highlighted on the menu at any point. Begrudgingly we paid and left. Overall the food is poor and the drinks watered down/over priced. I didn't like how every table was treated the same, we were all pushed through the motions and forced to pay a stupid amount for the quality of food. I would not recommend this restaurant and I will not be visiting ever again.

Myself and 12 ladies dined here for a belated birthday.The food was delicious the entertsinment was a real highlight i was given enough time to order and as a vegetarian a lot of choiceI will defintley eat here again and would say if your in a group or a couple you will have a great meal

Had a fabulous Greek night we had the meze which was a large selection of 30+ meals also the dishes were homemade which you can really tell. the tztatiki was amazing!! And the houmous tasted incredible the Greek sausages were incredible and the retsina was a great drink to add to the meal. we had a wonderful evening and certainly will be coming back to Athens when in Birmingham city if you are thinking of going I would definitely recommend you visiting as the food is out of this world !!!!

Was here on Saturday for a hen party. Their whole aim is to pack you in and make you order drinks. I was given less than one minute to order my food, so did not get to look at the options properly. I did not see a mess option, but I was rushed. There was nothing on there I wanted as a vegetarian so they forced me to order pasta in tomato sauce. They brought chips to our table stating "because you are English" and most of the waiting staff couldn't even pronounce the dishes.I am aware the chicken souvlaki was inedible from my friend who ordered that. Really disappointed as we were recommended here.If you like substandard food and somewhere you can drink then this is perfect, but put a downer on my evening.

I visited Athens on 19th April as part of a group of 23. I booked online in advance and I was called back to confirm the details. We had the meze which was excellent. Salad, hummus, chops, chicken, moussaka, lamb coftas to name just a few dishes. All the food was fresh and beautifully cooked. After the main course dishes we were up and dancing, weaving through the restaurant and outside for some plate smashing then back in for a disco. Christos and his team are amazingly welcoming and friendly. We all had an amazing night and thoroughly enjoyed the food and entertainment. I can't recommend highly enough. Thank you for a great night.

The atmosphere was very good, the staff were friendly and the food was lovely. The entertainment was definitely the highlight of the evening in my opinion as they had a belly dancer perform.

It was mine and my friends first time attending Athens and instantly we felt extremely welcome. The customer service was excellent as they engaged with all their customers. The food was amazing at the atmosphere was electric, my friend and I will be definitely attending again.

I visited Athens on a Friday night for my mums birthday with a few friends, we had a really good night!! The food was the best I'd ever eaten, I would go there every day of the week if I could! Staff were really friendly and welcoming, I would definitely recommend it to anyone for a great night out!!
