Eleon in Birmingham

Appalling service. Arrived at 7.20 and by 8.45 our main meals had still not arrived so we gave up and left. We had chased a number of times only to be told we were in a line but they couldn't give us an idea of how much longer we were going to have to wait. There was no warning given when we ordered that the wait time for food was over an hour! Lack of communication, lack of food and lack of apology.

No communication, no food, no apology. After waiting over an hour for our main courses despite asking twice about them we gave up in the end. The staff couldn't give us a timescale on when our meals would be ready and just kept saying we are in a line and haven't been forgotten about. We eventually gave up and left, no apology from the manager. Really disappointing, won't be in a rush to go back!

Booked last minute, but so glad we did. Excellent food, great portion sizes, and a fair price. Will defo be coming back.

We booked a table for 8 people and had to pay £10 deposit per head. One of the children became ill just before the meal but we didn’t want to cancel the booking, both for the paid deposit and for the business. 7 of us went but were told we would be charged the £10 for the missing child as we should have notified them 24 hours in advance. We pointed out the child had only become ill just before the meal so couldn’t possibly have rang 24 hours earlier! They refused to include the £10 for the child’s deposit and would not discuss how unreasonable this was. Whilst we appreciate that no shows harm a business, we didn’t cancel the table and 7 out of the 8 still came for food and drinks. Terrible customer service, we will never return.

6 of us ate here to celebrate my wife’s birthday recently and found the whole experience to be very good. Food, drinks and service were all of a really high standard. Prices were very reasonable too. Will definitely be going back again.

We have been to Eleon before and are never disappointed by the service or the quality of the food. We love Greek food abroad, but this restaurant has the ability to bring that experience here.

Booked a table for five before going to the cinema, and everything was absolutely lovely Emailed the booking request, and almost immediately got a reply from Effie, who greeted us when we arrived as if we were old regulars. The portions are massive, the food is delicious, and the waiting staff were just lovely, making the experience homely, and fun 10/10, we’ll definitely be back

Eleon greek restaurant in Sutton Coldfield is truly an authentic experience. We were greeted by Stathis the owner and he was very hospitable. The atmosphere is wonderful and you'll be shocked looking from outside how big this place is. The food was exceptional and presented beautifully. Highly recommend the Kleftiko Mediterranean lamb shank dish.

A Salty Shock at Eleon: A Disappointment for a Regular Diner As someone who frequents restaurants at least once a week, I've come to appreciate a wide variety of flavours and culinary styles. Eleon, in particular, has been a favourite for its consistently delicious food. In fact, I've enjoyed fantastic meals there including seafood dishes on three separate occasions. However, my recent visit was a major letdown due to an excessive amount of salt and an unhelpful response from the staff. Overseasoned Surprise: I ordered the sea bass with roasted vegetables and unfortunately, this time, the salt content was unbelievably high. It wasn't just a slight seasoning error; the salt completely overpowered dish. Dismissive Service: Even though I normally enjoy a bit more salt in my food (probably too much in all honesty), this was truly excessive. When I politely brought it to the waiter's attention, his response was incredibly unhelpful. He simply disagreed with me and offered no solution, stating that's how the kitchen prepares it. Unsympathetic Management: Requesting a manager did little to improve the situation. The manager, too, seemed unfazed and insisted minimal salt is used in the kitchen. This felt dismissive of my experience, bordering on gaslighting. A Wasted Meal: Ultimately, the lack of empathy and a solution left me feeling very disappointed and hungry. Concerned about the excessive salt intake, I was forced to leave most of the meal untouched. A Missed Opportunity: Eleon has established a reputation for delicious food. This interaction, however, fell far short of my past experiences. With a focus on customer satisfaction and addressing guest feedback, a simple solution could have salvaged the evening for a regular diner like myself.

We visited Eleon tonight to check out the possible venue for a major family celebration. It was perfect in every way. The welcome, food, drink, service & staff were excellent, just what we wanted. And then the big problem - they close for August and the date we hoped to go there was no good. Very disappointed, but we will be back, albeit without the family.

Eleon was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G as it always is. Food is always freshly prepared and absolutely delicious and the team are friendly + very efficient and look after you so well. It really is like going to a friends house for good company and food

We dined in for our anniversary and as late on a Sunday it was a little quiet but we couldn’t fault it at all. The food was delicious and the staff couldn’t have been more lovely especially Marcus/marcoco, so polite, friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be looking to return hopefully with some friends.

A wonderful place. There is a great atmosphere inside and it is very nicely decorated. The food is fantastic! Their menu states how much effort they put into sourcing their ingredients and I feel it really comes through in how good the food is. Don’t miss out!

Booked a table here for Sunday lunch dining ., We have visited before and again the food was absolutely amazing. Prawn saganaki and dips with pitta to start .. then stiffado and sea bass main courses really were delicious and took us back to our holiday in Parga last year . The staff as always are an absolute joy .. friendly , helpful and attentive . Would recommend this restaurant in a heartbeat and can’t wait to return .

Restaurant looks great, we were seated in a booth so it felt more private. Music playing in restaurant gave a good atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and attentive actually stopped and had a conversation with us. Menu had good choice we had a vegetarian and vegan in our party, everyone enjoyed their food. Stuffed tomatoes were delicious could have eaten another portion! Service was well timed, we wasnt rushed but did not have to wait too long. Will be back!

We hadn't been here for years (as living elsewhere) but it was as wonderful as we remembered. There were 3 of us and we ordered 2 meze dinners (7 starters, 7 mains & 3 desserts)...it was great to try all the various dishes and each one as good as the next. There was plenty of food for all of us. The cost of the wine is also reasonable. We'll be back soon.

Great meal here with family. Excellent food, authentic Greek dishes. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and the atmosphere was super. It was very busy so I would recommend making a reservation first. The only downside is the parking.

Best greek food I've had outside of Greece, very large portions with the per person meze platter. Would reccomend.

Restaurant is lovely inside nicely spaced seating. Atmosphere was relaxed it wasnt loud, we was seated in a cosy booth. Fantasic choices on menu, we had 2 meat eaters a vegetarian and im a vegan. The stuffed tomatoes were absolutely delicious, could tell it was freshly prepared. Everyone enjoyed the food, gyros and souvlaki were very big portions. Desserts tasted home made too! All the staff were very friendly and chatty. Great service and food. Will be going back.

I have never eaten Greek food before, but I absolutely will again now! The restaurant, is stunning, the service is excellent and the food was delicious and plentiful. We all had the mezze and every single thing was beautifully prepared, ingredients were top notch. We couldn't eat it all but we gave it a very good try. Excellent value for money as well. 11/10 recommend!

What let this evening meal with friends down was the meat, chicken and pork souvlaki was dry and chewy and there were poor vegetarian options for a main meal. Vegetables nonexistent, peppers onion and tomatoes are not really vegetables! The Meze starters were however the star of the show, delicious.

Second visit to Eleon, we had the mezze for two. Great authentic food, lovely atmosphere and the staff were friendly and professional. I like the personal touch, when making a reservation the restaurant sends a written email to confirm the booking 👌 🙌

We love eating here and the restaurant is immaculate and looks very festive for the Christmas season. It was really quiet for a Sunday which shocked us as it is usually so busy. The food as always was amazing and the service. It offers excellent value for money and we'd highly recommend it. Can't wait to return.

If you’re looking for an authentic Greek meal give it a wide berth. Overpriced and bland for what is basically take away or street food at over inflated prices and well below par of a decent take away. The moussaka, a Greek stalwart, was spectacularly bad consisting of tasteless minced beef, one slice of aubergine and 2 very thin slices of potato (where was the lamb, tomatoes, cinnamon, mint flavour which are the base flavourings of any authentic moussaka ) topped with a nondescript bland bechamel devoid of any cheese. I’ve had better moussaka from M&S and Sainsbury’s or even my own version at a fraction of the price. The menu states accompanied by grilled Mediterranean vegetables. In reality this was 3 slices each of green and red pepper and a bit of red onion and a lot of salad leaves which they had the audacity to charge £17 for. Totally inedible and sampled by a few of the guests in our party who all agreed it was dire and not worth the over inflated cost. Don’t even get me started on the drink prices. Over £7 for a glass of el cheapo plonko. Daylight robbery. Now let’s get to the service or lack of it. Awful. Considering we were the only customers on a wet Sunday afternoon the wait from ordering to food arriving was well over an hour. Dread to think how long the wait would be if they were busy. I really had high hopes for Eleon from the outside as it looks stylish, modern and is in a great location. Sadly the dining/service experience doesn’t live up to the shiny inviting exterior.

First time eating at this establishment. Wine was from an open bottle that had obviously been stood for a few days, my dish was tasteless and dry, and then an absolute debacle trying to pay. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

Went recently as a large group (17 people) booked table roughly a month in advance and was advised we couldn't have 1 table however would have 3 tables next to each other when we arrived we were put on 3 tables that were not next to eachother but were nearby eachother so our group couldn't communicate with eachother unless we shouted across the restaurant we spoke to management and were told to deal with it even when we came up with suggestions which would not impact other diners/bookings we were told the restaurant was fully booked however was 50% empty during our visit the lady we spoke to (can't remember her name) was rude and didn't seem to care at all and told us to deal with it the young man we spoke to was sarcastic and said if we didn't like it to go somewhere else and during service food was spilt over me and no apology was given although it was a tomato based sauce and has since stained my clothes which I've had to dispose of we spend a fair amount of money between the 17 of us and would have left a substantial tip if things were as they should be we have been before and it was amazing and had told our party how amazing the atmosphere and the food was but this experience has let us down and we will not be returning and will be advising others of our experience

I visited here for the first time with a friend on Monday night, and by Saturday night I had to come back. The welcome, setting and layout of the restaurant is friendly and inviting, and the service is impeccable. The food is all freshly home made, and absolutely divinely delicious! Recommendations from staff help to select the right dish, but the standard of preparation is simply fantastic. Traditional Greek food delivered by attentive, friendly and multiple staff. I can’t rate this place high enough!

The most disgraceful experience we’ve ever had in the whole of Birmingham. From the very beginning, in the front there was this very rude middle aged blonde woman in her 60’s. Shame for someone that age who struggles with basic costumer service. Without opening our mouth yet, she put her hand in front saying we will be closed soon, we won’t serve now. We asked to speak to the manager, as we needed to make a booking for 18 people she said he is not here and telling me to email. I’m here in person, what email you talking about? Absolutely shocking. Will not go back there anytime soon.

Excellent quality as always! Visited again after their new award as best Mediterranean restaurant in England and the food was delicious once again. Kleftiko was tender, tasty and aromatic! Highly recommended.visited again with 4 friends and the experience was equally wonderful! We had the meze feast for 3 which is more than enough for 4 people. Service was polite and attentive. The new awards they got this year are well deserved!

Lovely meal, reasonable price. Ordered 3 small starter/ tapas types dishes which were more food than expected. My husband had prawn and ouzo dish which was well presented and tasty. Would definitely recommend and will return.

This is the first time we’ve visited this lovely restaurant, and was a refreshing change from all the other local places from chain restaurants and pubs or the plethora of Asian restaurants. A good choice of food on the menu, the Wife had the lamb shank and I had the Gyros , both of which were delicious we’ll presented and a decent portion. The staff were very helpful and polite,the restaurant as a nice ambiance and is a pleasant place to eat and socialise. I would definitely go again

This was my first visit to this particular restaurant. I quite like the restaurants within Sutton Coldfield but I absolutely will not be returning here. The positives: The initial member of staff who served us was really lovely, an asset to the restaurant, nice atmosphere and prawn starter was nice. The rest: Waiting on starters. We had to wait for pitta bread to come out because they were planning on bringing it out at the same time as the cooked starter. I had to suggest to just bring the pitta bread out as we been had been waiting a long time. It then took a very long time for our mains to come out. Our mains were not good, and we tried to give it ago but both of us barely touched it. It had taken so long to come out, the last thing we wanted to do was immediately complain only then to just be further waiting for new dishes. At the end, I had said everything else had been great bar the mains and the owner of the restaurant refused to take this into account and revise the bill. Why? ‘It’s policy to change your meal when you’re initially asked how the food is’ make this policy clear from the start. Also we were asked how the food was quite early on, at bare minimum, I had to give my main a go especially as it took so long to come out but in the end I left a plate full of food. Where is the policy for late food by the way? I told two staff members and literally did nothing about it. Only the third staff member acknowledged this. I am absolutely all for championing great service and great food but it wasn’t and was dealt with terribly. Unfortunately, won’t be returning and do not recommend.

Very friendly staff, excellent quality food. The recipes are the original. The decoration is elegant and relaxing together. I would totally recommend it, especially for birthday celebrations.

What a refreshingly friendly and welcoming restaurant to visit for a Friday night dinner. Our party of five turned out on time for our first - but what I hope is not our only - time at Eleón. Two vegetarians, one confirmed carnivore and two Meze Feast diners were amply and most deliciously catered for, in the simple yet stylish and capacious dining room. Everyone very much enjoyed their selected dishes but the Meze-feast-for-two yielded a spectacular number and quantity of dishes which lead to a very social sharing and tasting of dishes, just like the best family meals. A mention to the friendly and welcoming staff, who were most efficient and attentive, with posirive energy, great humour and winning smiles. I could not recommend more strongly, a visit to Eleón for your next dining-out experience, just make sure to leave room for desserts and a Greek coffee to round off a memorable night. I have visited a couple of times over the summer. Each time we were made to feel welcome, service and food is excellent and staff are professional and attentive. Food is good quality and the restaurant is always so clean.

We waited long for our food to come. Food was okaish a bit bland for my pallet. Tables might benefit from table cloths as table felt sticky. We where informed upstairs was only for meetings which is not put on the website.

Went for my partners birthday. It was his 1st time and my 2nd. Firstly, Effie helped me out with my booking and was so lovely. The atmosphere is wonderful. Staff so friendly and attentive. Food out of this world. We had the Mezze for 2. Everything tasted so authentic and fresh. The Stifado took me back to when I first tried it in 🇬🇷 many years ago. Bought back lovely memories. Cannot fault this beautiful place.

Could be a nice place to eat but I won't be eating there. I was in a real need to use their facilities but was told to ask the restaurant next door as theirs was for customers only. In all honesty I was quite dismayed at the response. Does it reflect the care they give their customers? Who knows.

A lovely meal, but please do not put too much dill in every dish, not necessary! You need to drain your meals more as a dish was too oily!! Need less oil in the customers plate!

We had a excellent evening, our food, reception,and service were superb.effie and her staff were able to satisfy all our needs.looking forward to our next visit. We are celebrating our 69th wedding anniversary.

A very pleasant experience. Taramasalata and Kalamare starters were excellent, followed by beef stifado and pastitsio were nice, although the bechemel sauce on the Pastitsio was way too deep. Service was good and unobtrusive. Drinks selection a bit limited.

Love it here. Service was great, they were very patient with our order (as was too busy talking!) And didn't rush us to finish. Food was delicious. A bit sad they have changed the options on the set menu but appreciate things move on

Nice atmosphere, and beautiful interior and decor. However we just sat at our table for what felt like forever and never got served so we just left. The restaurant only had 5,6 tables of folk and only 1 set of folk eating so was a bit strange. Maybe we'll get better service next time!!

Visited Eleon in sutton colfield tonight first time here as was recommended by a friend. The restaurant was lovely decor was contemporary so lovely. Ordered the Gyros which was so good and plenty of it. The staff was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, and made us feel very welcome. Will definitely be going back.

Having never been here before was unsure what to expect, but upon arrival was greater by friendly staff in a very pleasant, warm contemporary restaurant, myself and my partner decided on the gyros and we were not disappointed, the size of portions are huge and so,so tasty. We finished off with baklava and honey ice cream.....very yummy.wiuld recommend this restaurant to everyone.

We have been going back every few months as it is amazing. The atmosphere is lovely, the food is amazing, and the set menu is reasonably priced. Drinks are a bit pricy, but they are good drinks. Food is always brilliant and hot and reminds you of being in Greece. Their Gyros are perfect!

Very professional service and the food is amazing. The staff were very helpful and there was no hesitation or nothing was too much hassle. If I could give more than 5 stars I would deffo give more. Visited here midweek for a quick dinner for 2 for myself and partner - No starters, Just mains. We had not booked. We were greeted by front of house and swiftly lead to a table. Decor and ambiance was lovely & seating comfortable. Was promptly asked if we would like any drinks, which we ordered and then on arrival of drinks, ordered 1 main course each. Unfortunately, this is where it went a little downhill. We then waited a little over 1 hours for our main meals which is well excessive for 2 dishes for a small table. (Please note that I do appreciate there was a group booking in for the evening of 12 people who had been seated before us however only 5 other 'small' tables of 2/3 - *This may have slowed down the kitchen if majority were walk-ins) A group of 3 people had entered the restaurant 20 minutes after our arrival and been served drinks and mains before we had received ours - As you can imagine, frustrating and lead me to believe our order had been missed. The manager DID come over to us after 45 minutes to say that 'lamb takes a little longer to cook' and asked if we'd like our bread a little earlier than the meal to help but I was overall really disappointed as no expressed apology from management or from the waiter when the food did eventually arrive. This would have gone a long way in my review here - I appreciate mistakes happen, but this should provide staff an excuse to 'show off' their customer service. The saving grace was the food ! ... Brilliantly cooked & presented, Perfect balance of flavours and portion size was just right. We will return to this restaurant on the hopes it was an 'off night' as the food was fantastic... But I would be hesitant to book a table on a peak evening or walk in if they look busy.

Came for a meal with my wife and had the meze feast with a bottle of the NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Wine was delicious as well as all of the food. Made the mistake of trying to finish the first course entirely and then could barely manage a mouthful of the next 2 courses. Everything was really tasty and the staff were all really friendly, attentive and offered to bag up our uneaten food (really well packaged too) so we didn't waste. Highly recommended.

I had my birthday meal booked at this restaurant tonight. I Confirmed the number of people prior to the date. But when I arrived as well as the other guests we were turned away saying that I had not confirmed the booking yesterday when they emailed me which I must mention its in the junk email. Anyway after explaining that I haven’t had a chance to check emails during Xmas period and I thought after we confirmed the time, date and numbers thought this was finalised, obviously not. Bad enough as it was we had a very abrupt waitress explaining all of this from behind the bar . I will not ever make a group booking at this restaurant again as they can’t adhere to their commitments
