Food was amazingly delicious!!! Availability of Vegetarian and Vegan options was such a plus. Great service and fresh food.

It was my first time having Sushi and I was not disappointed. It is very difficult to maintain your fish as fresh as possible. Right temperatures/clean fridges. Also the cut of the fish was just right size.. thank you for an amazing experience! Can’t wait to go again!well done

Seriously, the slowest service I have seen in my life, 1.5 hours and we were the only table to serve in the all place. They basically do only take aways and sometimes remember you are still there, waiting! Honestly, very very painfull.

Our family and friends love this place. We go there often and also get takeaway. This is by far the best, most authentic and upmarket Japanese sushi in North London. The sushi chefs are experienced and masterful. They have a wider range of fish than other sushi restaurants. The prices reflect the quality but it is worth every penny IMO.

I get deliver from here on a regular basis. Amazing qulity sushi, especially the sashimi. keep up the good work guys.

Although fairly small, it is situated in a nice street and is clean, cool, and has yummy food. Nothing wrong here. A great atmosphere, and easily a 5 stars for me.

I’m so pleased this branch re-opened after it had been closed for some time as it’s great to have a good sushi bar in Hendon. The sushi is great and very fresh. Generous sized cuts of salmon sashimi. Special mention to the seared salmon special role which is fantastic. Overall a bit of an underrated gem in Hendon

Horrid service. Was given main with starter. When asked if they could keep warm, was told no because it takes a long time to make, i said "but i ordered it 5 minutes ago "Sushi roll falling apart, sloppy presentation. Gyoza were cold. Came here for lunch on a Sunday. Not busy as we were the only customers in there but despite this, surprised that they didn’t make any of the tempura fresh. My ebi tempura donburi was clearly microwaved as it was not crispy. The coating was clearly soft and had just been reheated. Disappointed and would NOT recommend this if you want decent food.

Had a simple meal of unagi donburi and tempura ebi - very true taste of Japan Izakaya food - very polite and friendly staff (Sat.evening)

The place smells like chlorine. Food isn't fresh and the "chef" behind the counter is tortoise slow and rude. Avoid this place.

We ordered from here this week and was very disappointed by the quality of their Poke bowl. The sushi is spectacular but the Poke bowl is quite dire. It is clear that despite making excellent Sushi - the team here have not done any research into what a poke bowl is. If they were to go onto Wikipedia or other source they will see that Poke which originate from Polynesia and Hawaii contain sushi, usually come with some sort of sauce , seaweed, avo and some sort of fruit like pineapple or mango. Hopefully the tram here will read the definition and bring out a truly wonderful Pokebowl with their sushi- bitnfor now there are lots of better, more authentic poke bowls in the hte area.

The sushi/sashimi is decent quality and maybe just get it as a takeaway, but don't bother eating there. On two consecutive occasions I ended up not getting my starter because they messed up the order. That takes some doing in a restaurant with 5 tables! The problem with the place is that there is nobody responsible for front of house.

Very good, but not as good as Cafe Japan. The food is not quite at the same level (e.g. no fresh wasabi at this branch) and the service seemed strangely inexperienced. Not a bad place at all but for the same price, I would only recommend coming here if Cafe Japan is fully booked.

I normally grab a lunchtime bento box every now and again now that I'm WFH, and can say the food has always been good with friendly people serving. My only minor gripe is that they don't appear to sell miso soup and it'd be good if they were open for lunch on more weekdays. Overall very good however.

We ordered from Deliveroo and very fast delivery but the taste and freshness not that good. Specially the Uni taste so heavy on ammonia… Some of the sushi doesn’t have vinegar in the rice but some does… so strange… Little disappointed and also when arrived the uni gunkan flipped over and some other sushi too… Too little wasabi provided, slightly more would be good.

staff are all very nice, the prices are high but the quality is well worth it, its a little small so cannot go with a big group of friends, but great for a couple for romantic Japanese style night out

Food wasnt as good as it used to be and still very expensive. I think there are other better options. I traveled here specifically because the Ealing on shutdown and we were pretty disappointed.

Saw a KOL's review & found one nearby, tried a poke bowl & sashimi, good quality & great portion. Price is good value for money, as compared to supermarkets'. Excellent hospitality!

Ordered with deliveroo and something was missing from our order. Great customer service as they quickly apologize and gave me a discount for the next order. Very nice on the phone. I can only wish I could change my review on Deliveroo. I was too hasty... Usually nothing is missing and all Is very tasty. Also very reliable and on time.

The guy on the phone was so rude to me. I've never experienced such bad customer service before. The week before they made a few mistakes. No apology or anything. I do not recomend going.

Great quality Japanese food, served promptly by nice staff. Tables were well spaced out and was able to make use of the 'eat out to help out' scheme as well, which was great.

I had a delivery last Friday through Deliveroo. My smoked salmon roll arrived without cream cheese and without salmon on 3 of them. I immediately contacted deliveroo with pictures, since in 20 years I never saw anything like this. Didn't hear from anyone since. In my opinion, to send to a customer rolls like this is a big shame to restaurant and this persons family. Sadly most pictures I sent directly to Deliveroo were not saved on the phone. But I cannt be silent about such incompetence from a recognisable brand especially. This picture i made while eating thorugh them from the side with salmon present, i found out the absence of cream cheese as well. You can see rolls on the left have salmon that proportionally dissappear from rolls further on until last one kidding you not had less the 1x3cm wide strip

Where have you guys been? I live local and to my surprise found you have opened back up the Hendon restaurant for delivery. Ordered on Saturday night, was delivered a little later than i expected but the quality was worth it! Simple, Authentic and Fresh! Good to have you guys back.

I have been visiting for a while. They had a branch in Hendon where I live and now I just go to Golders Green branch. Fantastic food and friendly service.

We waited 1.5 hours to get my food. Despite several reminders, the waitress just couldn't get her act together. They did take all my order off the bill but that didn't remove the bad taste in my mouth.

Best sushi place in london. make sure to get the fatty tuna! Highly recommend and will be coming back again

Atariya es uno de mis favoritos restaurante en Londres. El sashimi es muy fresco, y el precio es razonable. El servicio está bien, no es muy buena, no muy mal. Yo recomendaría a la gente, es bueno. Si crees que está lejos, hay un restaurante de comida para llevar cerca de selfridges.

First time to this small restaurant and take-out. Quick service, lovely staff and reasonable prices. Sushi was of good quality and enjoyed our take-out. Would definitely come again, my favourite was the salmon and avocado sushi.

In the area that is not super famous for its gastronomic places this is a nice gem with attentive service and fresh fish.

Después de la experiencia con Sakanatei, estaba curioso si Atari ya puede vivir a la altura de mis expectativas y resultó bastante bueno. El chiraishi era delicioso, realmente me gustó el sabor de atún sashimi sirve en el don, el arroz estaba bueno también, aunque no la mejor (sakanatei era tan OP). Fue un placer tener un gusto en un famoso bar de sushi en Londres.

Mi sono fermata da Atari-ya per mangiare una cosa al volo. Ho ordinato un chirashi base e dei roll con philadelphia, bevuto un acqua 18,5 sterline. Locale spartano ma ho piacevolmente mangiato ai tavolini fuori. Servizio rapido. Il chirashi era buonissimo.... peccato aver visto troppo tardi che era disponibile il chutoro quel giorno... stile originale giapponese, pickles inclusi... buona porzione. I roll sono 8, piccoli ma buonissimi!!! Salmone sottilissimo fuori (si scioglieva...) cetriolo salmone e philadelphia dentro, top uova di salmone... sapori speciali!

Staff where rude and food was just ok i gave them £40 waiting for my change and had a five pound note ready to give them as a tip guess what? They never gave me back change !! Any way it was Ok

Atari-Ya has the best sushi I have ever tasted. The place is very authentic and when you walk in the smell of fish is very strong, however you quickly get used to it. They do donburi rice bowls and I got the one with salmon belly sashimi- so good and so so satisfyingly. Not too expensive either!

The sashimi was delicious! Service was decent, I think it was better during previous visits though it was quite busy last time.

But 5 mins later another waiter come and tell us again. it make us feel a bit funny but we never plan to stay for long anyway so it doesn't really affect us. We mostly had sashimi and sushi they are both average, for hot food there aren't really much to choose from we did had some tofu but they are very tasteless, but there are notices around the restaurant saying due to limited of staff the need to reduce the hot food service.Most staff speak Japanese but i will say the service are nothing like Japanese service We had the fatty tuna sashimi £9 for 3 slides not worth it, also for the sashimi platter L beside the sweet prawn nothing really stand out.

been going here for years, recently the service has changed and it's horribly rude.if you book a table for lunchtime you are told you have one hour to eat and if you aren't finished the manager said he will put the food in takeaway boxes!!

I have been a fan of Japanese food for the last twenty years or so, ever since I first started doing business with Japanese companies, and during the last few years I have had the privilege to visit Japan multiple times. Not only that, my business partner is Japanese, which means we regularly eat in Japanese restaurants in London.I have previously only ever had takeaway from Atari-Ya, but was driving past and had a sudden craving for Sashimi. I parked up, went in and my friend and I sat down on a table for four people. The waiter asked us if we could instead sit on a table for two people instead. Bearing in mind the restaurant was empty, it was 9pm on a weekday night and only two other people there, I was somewhat taken a back as to why my friend and I were not allowed to sit on our chosen table. I asked the waiter if they had any bookings due in and he said no. I asked the waiter if they expected any walk-ins and he said no. He then said he would ask the manager if we could sit on our chosen table, but the manager said that we have to sit on a table for twp people.I could understand if the restaurant was busy or if they had bookings due in, but since it was 9pm on a week night and the restaurant was empty I found their instance we sit on a table for two flabbergasting. I was planning on ordering a number of dishes so a table for four would have been more suitable, but instead of ordering any food I decided to leave due to the way my friend and I were treated.Although Atari-Ya has never been my favourite Japanese restaurant in London, it was however conveniently located; even so, I won’t be back.

with an office and working in Vivian Avenue,I am a regular visitor to Atari-Ya.be it dining in or ordering a takeaway.I usually order the assorted sushi A and B,shared between three of us.the cuts are generous and varied.include salmon,tuna,various rolls with seaweed,yellow tail and sashimi rice.a fair selection of excellent Japanese food.takeaway orders require at least twenty minutes notice,whilst the service inhouse is efficient and courteous.beer choices include Asahi (£3.20),which is dry and suited to raw fish dining.expect to spend £20 and £15 for choices A and B respectively.well worth a visit whenever in Hendon,.

Went for lunch and the Sushi Set menu was really good and great value for money. All the staff and chefs are Japanese which makes a real difference both to the level of service and quality of the food. Looking forward to going back one evening and trying out the sake.

We walked in at 6.15pm and it was busy and there were a lot of Japanese customers with children in- a great sign! The food was superb - we had to be out by 7.30- which was fine- the chicken wings were awesome and I'd say it's the best sushi bar I've been to - £50 for the 2 of us

Quality of the sushi - good. Price - rather pricey, but at least for what I've paid for, it was definitely worth it. There are a couple of choices to pick from. Most importantly, these are freshly made to takeaway. These were not prepared beforehand; it's freshly made as per your choice. Of course it's not what you can get in Japan but it's definitely way ahead most sushi bars in London. Also, this shop is just off the street from Oxford Road, so convenient for people in central! The tables are rather limited for eat-ins and I don't think they do reservations for such a tiny shop.

Fantastic. The only place I eat sashimi!

Popped in for lunch and tried their set sushi lunch for £12.20. For that I got; miso soup, jasmine tea, medium bowl of green leaf salad, a platter containing a total of 13 pieces of nigiri, maki and sashimi, finishing with a small pot of fruit cocktail. All very tasty, fresh and filling too. And at that price it was good value for money. There is seating around the counter on high chairs and also normal tables with seating for about 15-20 people. Nice cosy atmosphere, reminded me of small sushi restaurants you find in Japan. Staff were friendly and very efficient. I will return.

Atari-Ya sushi is my local Sushi Love! Great service and very helpful staff. The food is delicious. My favourite are the Salmon Roll's and Tuna rolls. For sure we will be back¡¡¡¡¡

Great Sushi - can't wait to visit again

I love sushi, but I always begrudge paying high prices for a small amount of food. But not here. This is one of my favourite sushi restaurants in London. The spicy tuna is always a winner as is salmon avocado! The nigiri and sashimi also aren't overpriced either! Definitely worth checking this one out!

Its an average sushi diner in busy west end. It's price and quality are similar to Itsu. Good for a quick bite while shopping, but not my cup of tea.

This is a cosy REAL Japanese restaurant, where you can enjoy a nice Japanese menu. Fresh and smooth sushi that would melt into your mouth. Quick and extremely efficient staff!! We really appreciate this quality of service. Moreover, it also has takeaway service. Not expensive for such a good quality.

Amazing authentic sushi, decent price and amazing fish. They were a little happy with the wasabi, so if you don't like it I'd suggest to ask for it without it when you order. Tiny little restaurant, not many seats but I think it all adds to the feel of the place. Well worth a visit if you like sushi :)

I was walking with family down the street looking for somewhere to eat for lunch, and I have always wanted to try sushi, as where I live sushi bars are practically non-existent. So when I found this place I was thrilled! I had absolutely no idea what to order (as I have never had it before) so I chose the normal chirashi bowl which cost £10.50. The waitress was very nice and helpful (I even asked her how to hold the chopsticks!) and when it arrived there was all sorts of different food in the bowl, including: rice, salmon, wasabi, ginger, shiitake mushrooms, fish omelette?, crab meat and different sized roe. My favourite was the crab meat which had a lovely texture and was very fresh. I shared some with my mum who was a bit apprehensive, but agreed that it was very nice. The chriashi was so lovely and filling I didn't need to eat for the rest of the day! Overall, well worth the price, lovely service, lovely food and would definitely go again!

What can I say about the food at Atari Ya in Hendon except for that it is amazing, shame the manager, Kurita is the opposite. He never tries to accommodate his clients needs. He does not train his waitresses as he is too busy cooking, that's right, he is the manager and a sushi chef at the same time. Whenever the young student waitresses (cheap labour, corner cut style) make a mistake, he becomes extremely rude to them as if it is their fault, especially the lady ones, which they are most of the time. He is very tough with the ladies, which he would probably be the opposite if they were men. He believes he is perfect and is very chauvinistic. His short haired lady sushi chef is his best friend at giving clients sly stares and gossiping and swearing in Japanese about the clients, especially the ones who are happy or who ask for things which are not on the menu. I had already complained about him once before to his superior, Takashi. When I mentioned it to him he laughed and said he did not know he that person was, when I pushed him he said it did not matter as he did not have a superior. Great for the food, lovely waitress just a shame about a lousy manager with no people skills and a lady sushi chef who played with a katana instead of a doll as girl and gets off on a power trip thinking she is tough because she can cut some fish!

It is close and it is great.What more do you want. Each time i go there is something new on the menu and the service is excellent.You have the option of sitting at the counter too and can see the chefs go about their amazing work

あたりや自体が魚屋さんで、滞在中も、トロサーモンやウニなどを買っていましたが、やはり握ってもらうお寿司は格別においしかったです。日本で超高級すし店で食べるのと変わらないネタもあります。もちろん、これが寿司かって思うものもありますが、それは日本じゃないからです。あと緑色のとびっこがほんのりわさび風味で良かったです。

Small place with about 3-4 small tables inside. Good sashimi and sushi. My favourite is their spicy yellow tail rolls £3.5/6 pieces. Good quality sushi, but more of a takeaway as gets busy with it's limited space. As title says - it's best if you preorder over the phone beforehand as it takes 20-30 minutes to get order sometimes. If you want fancy atmosphere, then you will pay more and might not get the same quality...

Went here after a friend recommended the place. The super fatty tuna and the fatty tuna were great. The place doesn't serve alcohol.Gave 4 starts because the chefs should improve on his cutting skills in my opinion.

I've been to the restaurant a few times and also ordered take out.The restaurant has a cute feel, its tiny with only about 6 tables and seating at the bar. It's great to watch the sushi master make sashimi and sushi and it's always busy.I recommend booking because it's often busy. The takeaways are always fresh, made in a good amount of time and also really well priced. We've tried almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. We love:- deep fried tofu- tuna sashimi- prawn dumplings- all of the sushi!If there's something that could be improved its that inside the restaurant its really bright. It might be the style but it can be a bit harsh sitting in really bright lighting. Excellent place to eat or take away. Nice surprise in Hendon.

What can i say the food is amazing the sashimi super fresh. The chicken katsu yummy... and very helpful staff who make you feel at home with japanese cuisine . Great Saki too . I travel extensively and this has to be one of my favourite japanese restaurants anywhere!!

Amazing find, little gem tucked away from Oxford Circus... super great value for the quality sushi.. have paid a fortune for sushi in London and been disappointed.. go here now for take away and eat in all the time instead... benchmark sushi for London. If you are looking for a sushi place and quality of the rice and freshness of the seafood is important to you then this is it. It's all hand rolled and made to order so it's fresh fresh fresh! The menu is limited and it gets very busy at lunch time, so call or pop by to order 10-20 minutes in advance and they will happily have this ready for you. There is limited seating so takeaway is the best option.

Ordered a large amount of sashimi and rolls for takeaway. Everything was very fresh, except for the octopus. And I couldn't really tell what veg where in the veg tempura roll. The quality of the rest made up for it though.

We had to make reservation as the restaurant was small and it was full very quickly! We ordered almost as much as our stomachs (family of 4) could hold as we were really looking forward to Atari-Ya, it is also a wholesale fish supplier to other japanese restaurants - so you can be sure that the fish won't get any fresher than theirs!We ordered :Seawood salad -mersmerising taste excellent with the sesame sauceSashimi salad - fresh raw fish - wow!Prawn and crab tempura - freshly made as expectedWagyu steak - small slice of steak - melts in your mouth - my only complain was there wasn't enough to share as my two teenage boys scoffed it all before I could take more than a third bite!Also had the Sushi mori A and Sashimi mori LWe then had Chirashithen a tempura udonIt was all so fresh and enjoyable - as you can imagine it did cost us an arm and a leg but as we only go to London twice a year so it was worth it! Will definitely go again - but my thoughts were Eat-Tokyo was also just as good but slightly cheaper side.
